I Was visiting Florence and found this little hidden place tucked down a side street. From the outside looking in, it didn't look busy at all. To be honest I wasn't even sure if it was open. We were greeted at the door and shown to a table in the back of the house in a separate room. The table setup and room was decorated pretty well. We ordered a couple dishes and they all tasted very well. However I did have to send my steak back, because for me it was undercooked and I was never asked how I would like it cooked. For 20 euros the steak and potatoes was a lot more than I bargained for. Great value for the price and flavor. The spinach ravioli was extremely stuffed and they packed amazing flavor. The staff were super polite and friendly. And the Restaurant was clean. You can definitely tell ingredients are fresh and cooked to order. All in All I would recommend this place. Lots of personality both in the place and staff but diner beware. The gentleman who took our order told us that there would be some modifications to the dishs which seemed like a courtesy until we got the bill. The bruschetta jumped from 6 euro to 15 due to some unsolicited mushrooms and the one pasta dish jumped 3 euro due to an unsolicited pasta substitution. Can't help but feel a bit taken advantage of. We found this attitude in a lot of the better places we went to - they really care whether you're happy or not. I had gone to Trattoria ZaZa the night before because it was rated so highly, but was seriously disappointed. I wanted real Tuscan food, and I don't know what that is, but I knew ZaZa wasn't it. I saw Trattoria Antellesi when I was walking to my hotel and then looked it up online and it sounded authentic so decided to go there for dinner. I had the Tuscan minestrone soup which was very fresh, though needed a little salt. I also had the farfalle black truffle pasta, which was rich and a total umami bomb. Yum! Mission in Florence: hunt down the famed bistecca fiorentina. Two days before we were in Florence, we called TA and made a reservation for 7PM. When we arrived, we were told that since we didn't specify on the phone whether we wanted outsdoor or indoor seating, we had to sit inside because they were booked for outdoor seating. After we were seated, it took the waiter 20 minutes to come take our order. I don't think they appreciated that we brought our own water bottles and didn't purchase any beverages. For a party of four, we ordered a bistecca fiorentina (2lb florentine steak for two, €38) and a fettuccine bolognese (€10). It was just enough food for us since we've been snacking and eating gelato all day. The steak came with the most amazing sage potatoes. The steak was amazing too. Pasta was nothing compared to the steak but a good filler. If you're in Florence, check this place out! All I can say, is that it was the best pasta I've ever had. My girlfriend had the steak which included a really good size T-bone, tortellini with Bolognese sauce, and I had tagatelle pasta with FRESH porcini mushrooms, and black truffles. After a harrowing experience driving the streets of Florence, we stumbled upon Trattoria Antellesi, and after talking to the owner (?), decided to give it a shot. My aperol spritz was delicious- the bartender even put a whole orange slice on top of my glass; nice touch. I ordered a dish of the region; spaghetti with boar ragu. It was really good. I know this sounds weird, but it's delicious- DON'T eat the little black ball spice looking things in your dish. I made the mistake, it wasn't very pleasant. After a long day, we found this place near our hotel and it was absolutely delicious! The pasta dishes were plated beautifully and it was just an amazing experience. Walked around Florence in the middle of summer when it's 90 degrees, found this place down a random side street and it is just the cutest little spot! It's a family owned restaurant, great customer service and atmosphere of surrounding little restaurants and bars. Our waiter was great, he didn't bombard us like most restaurants do and didn't push us to order anything or pay the bill right away. My friend and I casually sat down for a cold drink after walking for miles and had one of the best pasta dishes in Italy. The food here is delicious and as authentic as I can think of. We had the pasta with wild boar, bottle of chianti, a florentine steak for one but it's enough for two. The florentine steak came with the best...the best cooked potatoes I've ever had. They were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside; it just melted in your mouth. The steak was grilled to perfection. Oh my goodness it was divine. The fresh pasta with cinghiale (wild boar) ragu? Ahhhhhh I wish they could re-create that here. I would devour that in a heartbeat. And always..always drink Chianti wine when you're in Florence. They do charge a small 2-4euro service fee since you're dining in, so don't be alarmed by that. Enjoy! read more

We met Tony at the Dublin Pub down the street from his restaurant. He said "Come and have dinner at my place the food is amazing!" Now, anyone who owns a restaurant is going to tell you the food is great, right? But Tony wasn't lying. I had Pappa al Pomodoro which was fantastic and for an entree I had the fresh pasta tortelloni stuffed with ricotta and spinach with wild boar and porcini mushroom sauce. It was amazing. I'm so sad that I will probably never find anything like that in the U.S. My bf was also blown away by his seafood pasta with clams and mussels. We had a lot of great food during our trip, but this was our favorite. And when you pay the bill (cash only, btw) you get a nice little shot of limoncello to wash it all down.
