Lol I can't resist the Godfather reference, either: "I am Enzo. Enzo the baker. I come to see your father...." This place is has some pretty damn good Italian food. Their calamari was fresh (not rubbery) but had too many of those little funky pieces of just breading and no calamari. Must have been the bottom of the container or something - however the larger pieces were really good, and the marinara was excellent. Decent house Pinot Grigio, too. My sausage and pepper sandwich was good, and DH's chicken del giorno was good, if not exactly Italian. (Rolled chicken breast with asparagus and roasted peppers topped with brown gravy, and a side of peapods and garlic mashed potatoes - eh, not really Italian.) The waitress was kind of rushing us (we got there at 530 on a Saturday with no reservations) and I understood why when we left. At 7 pm, there were about a dozen people waiting for tables. Great ambiance in Laporte. Food was good and decent portions. My son has fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and my daughter had spaghetti with meat sauce. Went here cple wks ago on a Sat. they took reservations which was nice cause had party of 6 & a concert ( MR.Blotto) 2go 2! But usually don't go 2 Laporte unless 2Pine Lake 2Fish, Jet Ski, or Tube but will definitely make a trip bk here to just eat again!. 2 of us got the Spinach Garlic Ravioli w/cream sauce( Excellent wish was larger portion)1 Same w/Mariana, husband got chicken parm, & frnd fish & Every 1 Loved All dishes!. The give ya a bread (which was kinda Hard) But w/a Really Good oil dip w/cheese! I seen several other thgs on menu I wanna try and the prices r decent! For 2 of us Ravioli, Chicken Parm (& I got side Salad which NO sides came w/meal - & thk was $4. for a little bit of lettuce not even a cherry tomato so wldnt Waste $ On That again & husband got soup which he said was really good for like $4) But our 2Meals, soup, salad, 1mix drk, & 1pop was arnd $60. Enzo's is our trusted fav here in LaPorte. My only complaint is that it's sometimes noisy on a busy night. Their food is relatively good and the service is always knowledgeable, friendly and on point. Last night we wound up going there late (after 9:00) after walking out of our original restaurant after 2 hours waiting for food-- that's subject for a different review). We called Enzo's and not only did they tell us to come on down, but they bent over backwards to get us bread right away, take our orders and get us served. We were in and out in less than an hour, happy and well fed. Thank you Enzo's! read more

Have wanted to try Enzo for a long time and finally did last night and wish I would have sooner! Absolutely delicious! Everyone from the hostess to the waitress was super friendly and attentive. I had my favorite,Chicken Parmesan, on special and it was one of the best around. I loved the bread and oil served and the Caesar salad was very flavorful. I would only prefer that the salad/soup be included with the entree, instead of having to be extra. Had a cannoli for dessert and it was good, not the best I've ever had but tasty. Both met with my expectations. The ambience was very pleasant with an extraordinarily supportive staff focused on my every need. This restaurant is a favorite place of my husband and I. We get the dinner for two most every time we go which we feel is a great deal. The environment is casual and romantic. The food is fresh and you can taste it in every bite. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It can get crowded at night but not anything unusual for a quality restaurant. Excellent overall. Well worth the slightly elevated pricing in order to get high quality, freshly prepared food. Only couple of minor gripes keep this review one short of five stars. 1) The drift of tobacco smoke from the adjacent bar - a factor that had stopped us coming back for over a year - and will stop us coming back, until the law changes later this year; 2) one dinner plate was cold (it was nice to see the manager randomly testing for hot plates as they came out, but this one got away); and 3) the espresso coffee was absolutely foul. No visible crema and very, very bitter, like it was stewed. Certainly not a classic fresh espresso. Back to the food though - that was great, as was the service and overall ambiance (other than the smoke - and that will be fixed in July). read more

Place was busy when we got there, always a good sign. Glad we had reservations. Waitress was very nice as was host. Took 25 minutes to get 2 sub par appetizers, the spinach/artichoke dip was lacking spinach and artichoke and the other was nothing more than pizza sauce and cheese. Fresh from the oven bread was kept in good supply. Salads, which are not included with a meal, arrived 3 minutes later. Only 2 dressing choices, neither of which I liked. Dinner took another half an hour to arrive, 4 plates of pasta and a filet took over an hour to get to us. Sides with filet were cold. All of the pasta was tasty, but I could have gotten the same at any Olive Garden. Drinks were ok, but not a "good" pour like you would get at a Tosi's or a Grand Mere. Very dark inside. Outdated decor. Had to actually venture to the back of the house behind a curtain to find the one "toilet" as it was labeled. The pink soap in there was a real hit with the 3 year old that was with us, kept her entertained since we waited so very very long. Dessert was alright, nothing special. Because the timing of the meals was so off, I feel the establishment is being run by folks who may be a little novice to the game. Granted, they were busy, but pasta is quick to make, and should be able to be timed with one steak. Long drive for us, doubtful we will return. read more

Wow! Talk about an awesome date night! My fiancé and I went here and we were absolutely stunned by this delicious hidden gem! There could be more parking, but the decor inside made the two minute walk totally worth it. Chandeliers, lanterns, and a decorated fireplace made this place feel as cozy as it is. We were seated quickly, even though we arrived an hour early. Within minutes, our server had introduced herself and brought back our drinks. The sweet "dinner for 2" deal caught our eyes immediately and we went to work on picking out our four- course (plus bread) meal. I got the minestrone and he got a salad. Once we finished that up, we waited a few necessary minutes for the next round. We went for the rimini pizza and the warm crispy dough and the taste was the perfect intro to our next meal, the spaghetti and meatballs. Huge delicious meatballs mixed with delicious noodles filled us up but not before we could eat desert in what felt like one bite. The chocolate mousse (pictured due to its beauty in the outside matching the beauty on the inside) filled any parts of our tummies up that weren't already filled! The check was given to us and payment made in just enough time to finish the last of our refilled cups before heading home to drool over our new favorite date night restaurant! read more

I love Enzo. The food is great and the staff are friendly. My personal favorite is the calamari. I personally think it's one of the best calamari around in the region. I've tried calamari at many different restaurants as far as Chicago and Enzo quickly comes to mind. I wish their hours were more convenient but not unusual to other restaurants that primarily serve dinner. It is a bit small but easily forgiven once you have their food. It doesn't have a large waiting area. You tend to feel weird when it's really busy and you're practically standing over the diners closest to the door waiting to be seated. read more

We went on a tuesday night, no reservation was needed, the restaurant is very small tho so I would think most nights you'll need one. Our server was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable...everything that she should be. Food was decent. Tortellini wasn't any better than olive garden, my fish was good but the mashed potatoes and asparagus tasted the same as they come out of my kitchen. Overall I felt like it was "just average" - but I'm not from LaPorte, so it may very well be the best in town. Stopped here on our trip to the twin cities. The website drew us to this restaurant and we were not disappointed. It was Thursday evening, and we were seated right away. The staff could not have been more pleasant. Amber delighted us with her stories of the history of the building and the town. The salad, which was a special that night was delicious; much more than a simple wedge; the portion was plenty for two to share. The roasted pepper soup was recommended and was a great choice. We shared the pizza, which was also wonderful; chocked full of chicken, sun dried tomatoes and so much more! The half carafe of wine was reasonably priced and was delicious. If you're reading the reviews on this page, it seems Enzo is the best place in La Porte. However, if you're actually from La Porte, you'd understand there are other places, places that totally rock, in the area. I usually go to Enzo for lunch, and I always order a special. I always get a pasta dish. What I've noticed after coming here several times is that there's a bit too much pasta water still remaining in the dish. It makes the pasta a bit too starchy. The salad is good. However, I cook authentic Italian at home a lot, and when I go out to eat Italian food, I expect something amazing. Truthfully, I could make these dishes better myself. If you aren't from La Porte, and you're in town for the evening (and you're probably in a pinch), Enzo is a safe bet, however. read more
