Trax makes it easy to order online and pickup. I didn't pay much attention to the dining room when picking up my food, I was admiring the towers of insulated carriers with whiteboards. I love the ease of coming in and checking the box for your food. I ordered half a smoked chicken with fries and green beans. The chicken had great flavor however the breast was a tad dry. The green beans had some flavors I wasn't familiar with, still ate most of it. The fries were simple and seasoned to perfection. I also ordered a brownie which was massive. Whomever made the brownie is on my least favorite people list for all the right reasons. I'm trying to make healthier choices and here they go making a dessert that you can't stop eating. I planned to only eat half of this delectable confection yet it kept calling my name saying it's best to eat it fresh, so I had to oblige. This by far is the worst barbecue, EVER!Five out of six times I attempted to eat dinner at this restaurant and they didn't have any ribs. Now I could understand if it's an hour before closing but in the middle of dinner time you don't have any ribs. It had a great dill flavor. The green beans were seasoned well. Inside, it's industrial and the brewery that allows dogs is on the other side. I plan on bringing my Golden there this spring. I have been wanting to try this place since I saw that Katina Eats Kilos has done an eating challenge here & I saw it was only 20 mins from me. My husband said he was craving BBQ & I remembered this place! & thank goodness, I did!!! We ordered online for pickup & the estimated time was 45 minutes & it was ready when we got there! We ordered a 1/4 sheet pan with brisket, ribs, & sausage. It comes with pickles, a smaller side of Trax Slaw & Texas toast. We chose mac & cheese and the new charros beans with bacon as our sides. For sauces, we got Old Yeller, Red Hog, & Mccordsville Hot. We got the Smokeshack & Derailed hot sauces too. We added on a side of hush puppies because my husband loves them. We also ordered a side of beer mustard. We checked the containers before we left & we had everything we ordered & a couple of extra sauces we weren't expecting! Once we got home, we tried everything together, starting with the Trax slaw! It was perfectly vinegary & creamy, as well as, nicely seasoned. Next, the mac & cheese! They use my favorite pasta (cavatappi)! The flavor was so good & it was super creamy. The charro beans & bacon has this AMAZING smokey flavor & richness. The beans still had some bite so they made sure they weren't an overcooked mush mess, which we appreciated. The hush puppies had pieces or corn & some kind of pepper (I thought jalapeño, but could've been poblano). It came with this side of gravy, which we weren't expecting. My husband loved these, while hush puppies aren't really my thing, but the gravy dip made them 1000x better for me. The Texas toast was crispy on one side & soft and buttery on the other. It was seasoned great & even better when I dipped it in the hush puppy gravy. Once we got to the meats, we did have to reheat them slightly, but we had a 20 minute car ride home & however long it took for us to try all of the sides before we got to them. That was an our fault thing. No problem a couple of seconds in the microwave can't fix. We started with the sausage, which was cut into bite sized pieces, when we go back, I'm going to request them to not do that. We just prefer to do that ourselves & it honestly didn't affect anything except maybe heat retention. The snap & juiciness of these sausages are INSANE! By themselves, they were the best sausage I've ever had. We then dipped in the beer mustard (we had ordered 1 side & got 2 by mistake) & THIS WAS THE BEST BITE ON THE ENTIRE TRAY!!!! The beer mustard was such a depth of flavors! At first taste, it was sweet, almost like a honey mustard, & then the mustard kick really came through. It wasn't super spicy or anything, but it was just so developed with its flavor profile. The ribs were FALL OFF THE BONE tender. We started plan & LOVED the seasonings & smokey flavor. We then tried with all sauces! Red Hog was my favorite for the ribs, while my husband liked the Mccordsville Hot better. The brisket, we got mixed for our preference, & it was exactly what we asked for. Without sauce, it was buttery and seasoned to the nines! I preferred it with Mccordsville Hot & my husband with Red Hog. For sauces: Unless you're a child or you just really like super sweet BBQ sauces, I wouldn't waste my time with Old Yeller. Red Hog & Mccordsville Hot are equally delicious & pair well with different things depending on preferences of meat & spice levels. Smokeshack was probably the most disappointing part of our meal. We love jalapeño & poblano peppers, as well as hot sauce, but it was just flat out not good. Derailed, however, was delicious & rather spicy, which we both love! If you like spice, you've GOT to try this!!! All & all, this place is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! Trax got all the points covered very well. We live in South Carolina and for sure, so far, we have not tasted better there. Their sausage is very well seasoned, at snap and flavor. One thing that clearly tells me that the owner cares is the sides they offer. We have seen too often that sides seem to be a after thought on many BBQ places; not in Trax. The service was very quick and the gentleman at the register was extremely nice and let me taste certain things before I got them because I was hesitant on buying them without knowing what they tasted like. First the ribs had very little meat on them basically bones and the chicken looked like a Cornish hen instead of a chicken. Great Food! This place is off the beaten path. We found it by looking for "restaurants near me" on Yelp. Had it not been for that we wouldn't even have known it was there. I am so glad we looked. We would have missed trying this new-to-us local place. There is plenty of parking across the street. You order your food at the register and you get a little vibrating square that notifies you when it is ready and you go pick it up yourself. When you pay for your food they ask if you want to leave a tip. I think that is an odd time to ask for a tip considering I have not had any service yet. They have several sauces to choose from on a little bar so you can try them before you put them on your food. They have monthly specials as well as their regular menu which has a variety of burgers, chicken, pork, brisket, and sausage. They also have your typical BBQ/picnic sides. I got the special for March which was "The Pub Smash" 2 patties, bacon, Swiss cheese, frizzled onions, beer cheese, LTOP (lettuce tomato pickle) on a pretzel bun. O opted for a single patty because 2 is just too much for me but I still had to pay for the double, I am guessing because it was a special and that is just how it was in the computer. I wasn't mad about it though. I got the mac and cheese as my side. I wasn't crazy about the mac and cheese because I like traditional mac and cheese and theirs had a few extra spice I think. It was more of a preference thing, I don't think it was prepared poorly so I didn't knock off any stars. My niece ate it and loved it. I had some of her fries and they were quite good. First of all, I found this place from a Tik Tok of a woman doing some big platter challenge and KNEW when I was Indiana we were making a trip here! I basically came all the way from VA for this BBQ and we all know how serious the South can be about BBQ and this place met the challenge. Starting things off, the staff was all SUPER friendly. I mean I have been excited to come to this place for months so I was obviously very cringe with the staff but they were honestly SO kind. They were super helpful and made excellent suggestions. My family and I have been here many times and we love it but it's been hit or miss lately. My husband always orders the Traxx fries because that's the larger order of fries. The last time we were there, he ordered them and they gave him the small order of fries. He explained that he ordered the Traxx fries. The guy handing out food upfront was NOT friendly and told him that they cost $3 extra. Keep in mind we had already paid for the original Traxx fries. My husband told him he understood because that's exactly what he ordered. No apology but they did bring out the fries grudgingly. The last time we were here, the flies about ate our food before we could. And then to top it off, the busers stood there and watched us finish eating so they could clean our table. I gathered with fellow Yelp Elites Rick G. and Holly G. along with a couple other folks for Scarlet Lane Brewery's Dorian Days this past weekend. Trax BBQ shares a rather large space with Scarlet Lane allowing for both brews and BBQ in a space that sort of feels like industrial meets silo meets horror convention. I couldn't help but wonder if some children of the corn were going to pop out. For the record, they didn't. The building is located in McCordsville, a closer than you think small town on the Northeast side just outside Indy. It's an easy drive on Pendleton Pike as it turns into U.S. 36. Follow the signs that point the way to Scarlet Lane - if you find it, you've found Trax BBQ. The parking lot is mostly crushed gravel - not exactly wheelchair friendly, but workable. You can enter on both the Trax and Scarlet Lane sides - I'd say the Trax side is a little more wheelchair friendly, though the Scarlet Lane side actually has an accessible spot (that is still crushed gravel). The Scarlet Lane side has a step onto the sidewalk and a step into the building - however, they also have a large garage door type set-up that allows for open-air dining in good weather. If accessibility is needed, that door will be opened as it was yesterday. On the flip side, Trax is level to the ground and the only real obstacle is dealing with the gravel. However, I didn't see where they had an accessible spot. To get even more confusing, Trax is family friendly while Scarlet Lane is 21+. Plus, Scarlet Lane is pet friendly while Trax is not (unless dining outside). I entered through Scarlet Lane - ordered a beer there then headed over to my party on the Trax side. They have an ordering line that is clearly marked with two sets of large menus to keep the line moving (either that or they think you'll forget quickly). They have a variety of specials, meals, and sandwich type combos. I believe the primary difference in the combos is that the meals come with two sides while the sandwich combos come with one. They also all the usual fountain drinks including sweet and unsweetened tea. The counter is a tad high, but the woman working the register was a delight - friendly, helpful, and unbothered by my silly humor about not being able to reach the area where we're supposed to order. You order, pay, are given a number and buzzer, and then you get your food. They offered to assist me as an accommodation. They had tables spaced nicely apart and in these days of COVID-19 I felt quite safe despite dining inside (which I've not done very often during the pandemic as I tend to be higher risk). While Scarlet Lane tends to have a bit of a horror theme going, Trax mainly sticks with a more generalized small town, industrial silo vibe. I ordered a pulled chicken sandwich - which is probably sacrilege in a BBQ joint, but it sounded really good and, in fact, was REALLY good and the sandwich was generous. I ordered fries as my side and they were very nicely seasoned and sublime. They offer you a bag of the condiments you asked for - Trax is being super safe and responsible. Our table was marked clean when we arrived, dirty sat down. So, I felt like they knew me. We lingered for quite a while to chat - and they didn't flinch at all. Business was steady but not overwhelming and they are definitely limiting capacity. It's my understanding there's still some limitations on hours due to COVID - so, you may want to double check before you head out but you really do want to head out. I really liked this place and I really loved the vibe. The food was absolutely terrific. My friends had a variety of different sandwiches and there wasn't a single complaint. I heard great things about banana muffins, as a side, and hush puppies. Next time, I'm trying the hush puppies because I love hush puppies and good ones are hard to find. I'd probably knock about a 1/2 star off for accessibility concerns, but it's definitely a decent enough situation and the customer service accounts for a lot. So, I'm keeping it at a 5-star rather than heading downward. I'll definitely go back and, in fact, am already looking forward to it. They have a wonderful menu with daily specials with definitely a creative touch from the Chef I've ordered several items on the menu, but my favorite by far is their brisket. The menus are on the wall by the counter or there are paper menus. Place your order at the counter and seat yourself. You'll be given a buzzer when your food is ready. Your order comes out on a tray and is picked up at the counter. BBQ sauces, condiments, and drinks are on the floor to help yourself. All of the food was really good and we had plenty leftovers.
