I needed a clutch replacement so I'm calling around reading the reviews on YELP. I Called trc Transmission and asked for a estimate a lady answered I told her I was looking for a rough estimate on a clutch replacement. She had me wait, and she came back with a price of $600! I thought that was kind of high, so I told her that it's was high I thought. WOW she took that really personal and started giving me a lecture of the history of the shop and if I go to Tijuana I could get the clutch job cheaper $100 and get Chinese parts. And she was not talking to me she was at a point of yelling at me over the phone. She continued for over a minute ranting about her husband starting the business years ago and how professional his work is. I BELIEVED EVERYTHING SHE SAID ABOUT HER HUSBANDS! BUT THE ONLY REASON NOW I WOULD NOT GO TO TRC TRANSMISSION IS BECAUSE OF HER THE WIFE! AT THIS POINT THE PRICE DID'NT SCARE ME AWAY SHE DID! A normal response would have been, Thanks for inquiring if you don't find what your looking for call back we can work something out. Thank you. This was my first estimate 8:30 am. in the morning. Ron and his guys and gals are just super. I have a Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel with a factory Jake Brake... I lost second gear completely but was still able to drive around with only the 4 remaining gears. I was scheduled to have Hip surgery on June 25th. I took the truck over to TRC on the 24th and they had the transmission rebuilt in a mater of just a few days. I only live about 5 or 6 miles from Ron's shop and when he told me he had it ready to go, I had no way of getting it home. They came to my rescue again by arranging to bring it to the house. I am recovering nicely from the surgery and will not be able to drive the truck for weeks, but I know as soon as I am ready the Dodge will be ready for me. I have never experienced working with such an honest company. A while after I had the transmission swapped I was experiencing a little chatter when shifting gears I explained this to Ron and was prepared to fork out some $ to make sure it was right even after I had paid to have my rebuild inspected before installation. It turns out that I had installed a snap ring wrong and because it was over looked in the inspection he didn't charge me a dime to pull the Trans out and fix the problem. Well, I will say I was pleased to some extent of the service that was provided. The staff and Ron included, are very friendly. The labor costs were more than fair for the work being done. I have no issues with that. My main issues are with the safe guarding of vehicles and time frame of work. With the amount of business and the type of cars they get from time to time, they need to invest some money in protecting their clients assets better. Video cameras and hoping clients car alarms will scare away thieves is naive. I have seen nearly 20 cars in my years throughout chatsworth, found stripped on the curb. Sadly the area is very friendly to car theft. Either the shop needs to take liability of such issues, or put up a solid fence like most other shops in the area. I rolled the dice and left my car outside there. I will never do that again , and lack of peace of mind is a major detour ant for future business. Not just for myself, but other customers. My last thought is time frame of work. I understand business and how things work within shops. However understand when I make an appointment a week in advance. Then follow up Monday during that week of the planned work. I would say I was less than thrilled to know that my car was being pushed back by other business coming in. The purpose of the appointment was to make sure the work being done to my car was both, not rushed and on time. When we both agree for me to drop off the car the night prior, so you can work on it first thing. Waiting till 3pm, 3 hours before you close to start work was not acceptable. The amount of hours you quoted me for labor was 4 1/2 and it took you 2 hours, and it was rushed. When you rush work you make huge mistakes. One of those mistakes was not bolting the exhaust back properly ( from headers to y-pipe collector ) which you removed in order to pull the transmission. End result was an exhaust leak that burned up the gasket and may have caused other damage due to the excessive rattling of the y-pipe and mid pipe. I find exactly what damage was done this week. I gave you 4 stars on the basis of honesty and integrity. You remained honest about everything we spoke about. I asked a quote 5 months prior to the work and when the invoice came up, it was exactly what we discussed. The transmission is running well and the converter. My only gripe was the problem with my exhaust. read more

TRC Transmission are wonderful. I had worked done to my Toyota Corolla done by a family friend in which was a mistake. I felt my car wasn't right. I didn't feel safe so a friend whom goes to TRC Transmission recommended them. I heard of Yelp and decided to check them out. Saw the reviews but decided to give it a try two wonderful reviews and one not. I called them and sort of explained what's going on with my car and Ron Hazelton said too dropped off my car. So on Friday after work I did and I was at aww when I saw the Bat Mobile in there shop. As a Batman fan I took pictures. I'm like oh my gosh never thought I see it in person the highlight of my day. But then I got an unexpected call on Saturday(next day) to informed me it was ready. I was surprised for I was expecting a long wait. And that wasn't the only great news , the charges for the services done to my car were less that what the family friend charged me. Ron Hazelton showed me the parts that were changed in which the other mechanic claimed to have changed in the first place. He had other small things done to my car at no charge. I have worked in the car business before and TRC Tranmissions was recommended through a previous co worker. I took my car 2003 Corvette 50th year anniversary for Transmission line replacement. Ron inspected it and repaired it instead of replacing it. It cost me less than replacement & he did a great job. very nice staff and very good follow up. They definatly know what they are doing. Another place offered to replace it for $1500 vs Ron for approx. $200 if it needed replacement. he end up repaining it which needed to be tightened & transmission oil change, all for about $200. Ron Hazelton and the group at TRC are all first class. I brought my classic, original 1973 Lincoln Continental coupe over to TRC because the C6 transmission needed to be rebuilt. Ron worked with me every step of the way, and also installed some beefier parts that I specified. They also installed a new heater core (I supplied it) for me and did a coolant flush because my car had a leak at the core. My vehicle came back to me in excellent condition. The transmission has been shifting precisely and firmly (3rd gear is a neck snapper due to the updated servo I requested) for the past year. I purposely waited this long to see how everything would hold up, and so far so good. Ron and company were also very patient with me when I'd call or stop by to see how things were going. He also did a fluid flush on my wife's import SUV which requires special fluid. TRC is the place to go for transmission work. Thanks again Ron and crew! read more

My 2004 Honda Accord V6 has around 280K miles on it, so I finally figured that it's time to have it's second transmission service. I say this in tongue-in-cheek, I think I've had it done more than twice, but it's definitely been a long time since the last one. I've always gone back to the Honda dealership in Simi Valley for service since I've had a business relationship with them for many years. However, spending my Saturday mornings (and sometimes afternoons) in their customer lounge just to get an oil change or having to schedule service weeks in advance and knowingly overpaying for some of the service/parts started to get old. So, on the glowing referral of a family friend, I paid a visit to TRC this week for transmission service. I was greeted in a very professional manner by Ron and his staff, and my car was on the rack in a few minutes. I told them that I was a "Conway Twitty" kinda driver (read: relaxed and laid back) so the tranny shouldn't be too worn out. Upon initial draining, Ron told me that the fluid was burnt. That explained the smell every time I started the car (and not my Brut cologne). He suggested that we do a double fill and drain rather than flush so as not to shock the system. Fine by me. Cut to the chase, the hesitation and sluggishness that I'd been experiencing over the past year was gone when I pulled away from the TRC driveway. Ron did ask me if I'd been experiencing any hesitation or shifting issues and I said no, as I honestly thought I just needed new plugs and maybe some BG44K. Here's my take: I am very,very satisfied with the work done on my Accord - quick, honest, professional, and I was out of there in about 30 minutes. I'm not going to jump the gun and say that this'll be everyone's experience, I was lucky that there weren't two cars ahead of me. But they work fast, clean and honest. Price was good too. I've been a professional working automotive technician in the San Fernando Valley for almost 40 years. And I owned an automotive repair facility in Chatsworth from 1995-2006. And, I have to admit...Ron is one of the fairest and straightest shooters out there in the transmission business (and I've known a lot of transmission shops over the years). And just so you understand, as a shop owner who would sublet jobs to TRC/Ron on occasion....I'm responsible to make sure the unit performs, otherwise my shops name and reputation would be on the line. I never had an issue with his service, his work or especially his honesty. If there were ANY issue with work he did for us, he would take care of it...no questions asked. The guy is as honest as the sun is bright. To me, THAT is invaluable. Both him and his wife are truly genuine human beings. I can't say enough about TRC transmissions. Ron is there if you have any questions where other national transmission repair chains would look at your car and then tell you you need a $3000-4000 rebuild....no matter what. This is POLICY with many of the national chains and many independents. Most people don't know enough about transmissions to know if they're being sold a bag of goods, or if they're telling them the truth. If Ron says it needs rebuilding, THEN it REALLY DOES need rebuilding. Ron didn't pay me or ask me to put this post online for him, but since I saw what only a couple of people said here....I had to write something. TRC rebuilt my transmission two years ago and it has been "bullet proof" since, at a price much better than any other shop around. I researched dozens of transmission repair shops, for about a week, to fix the progressively worsening noise that was coming from the rear end differential of my 02 Dodge Ram pickup truck after a 2500 mile trip. All of the service providers I had spoken to sounded about the same, same price point, same time frame, same knowledge and assurances of abilities. TRC, however, was different. The polite lady that answered the phone put me straight through to the owner Ron. Ron listened to my description of what my truck was doing and unlike any of the other shops that had a "don't know you got to bring it by" answer, Ron began to explain to me what the probable cause of the noise was. He was respectful, knowledgeable about my particular truck and had a confidence that only a man who has been working a trade for a life time has. Ron explained that transmissions and drive trains have been his life's work, that is what he does. I brought TRC my pickup an hour later, that's how well I felt about our conversation. The shop is as I would want a transmission shop to be, steeped in there history and well appointed with tools of the trade. I left my truck feeling confident I had made the best choice. I got a call from Ron the next day to get approval to order parts since he now knew that his theory of the issues with my differential were correct. I was pleased that the lesser of the price quotes was to be my outcome and I asked if it would be done by the following day. Ron said that he would have it by that afternoon! When I got to the shop the truck was good to go and the bill was lower than the lowest estimate I had received by any other shop. Ron asked that I stop by in a week so he could check for leaks and off I went with a smile. The truck runs better then it ever has. Quiet, crisp and slightly better gas mileage. Altogether, a Simply Wonderful Experience. The owner, Ron was knowledgeable, accommodating and very reasonably priced. I had a rear axle gear ratio change done, and from start to finish, it was done in a professional, correct manner and more quickly than I had expected. I had previously gotten a quote from Ron for a transmission fluid change with me providing the fluid, filter and gasket ; and was quoted $30 less from Kings Transmission across the street from TRC and having never used Ron's shop, went to Kings for the fluid change. After pulling everything apart and replacing the filter I was told that it took longer than they thought it would and the price would be $20 more than what Ron from TRC had quoted me. After getting screwed by 2 other supposed hi performance transmission shops... Ron and staff worked endlessly to assure the best result for me. No atittude a real pro, Must be seen to believe. He built a tough high performance 700r4 that can take the punishment of a 500hp Corvette Chevy Small block and picked the right stall speed; painstakingly calibrated the governor over many days... And, all I can say is WOW; after owning many newer cars with electronic transmission controls, this trans shifts "SPOT ON" in comparison; in all manners of driving. and perfectly for the power band that I have. Took my Jetta 2000 to have the transmission fix, and that stupid Ron and his team just keep charging me more a more money for some solenoids he said they need to be change, went several times with the same issues and never got it fix at the end I have to pay more than $3000 at another place and now the car runs great. I even told Ron that I would rather paid a full reconstruction of the transmission but he didn't care he just keep laying and charging. They even stole my gate controller I left in the car.
