I've eaten at Tre Monti on three or four occasions now, each time with a friend who likes the place. I always get a pizza--I'm vegetarian and most of the menu options contain meat, so the pizza is one of the only things I can eat there. Yesterday I met my friend for lunch and was pleased to see that they have pasta pesto on the menu posted outside. But that menu is outdated: pasta pesto did not appear on the menu they handed me. I mentioned the outdated menu outside to the waiter, but he was either indifferent or did not understand--it's hard to say which. They do have a pesto-based pizza, though, so I thought I would give that a try. But when the pie arrived, I was disconcerted to see that it was drenched with oil: there were literally puddles of the stuff on the pizza's surface. I blotted off the excess oil with some paper napkins, but when I tried to pick up a slice with my hands--forget it. It was so soggy there was no way I would have been able to eat it without a knife and fork. That was also true of the other pizzas I've ordered there: the crust was always limp and soggy. I may be especially turned off by this because I grew up in New Jersey, where I was spoiled by the ready availability of excellent pizza with a thin, crisp crust. Additionally, the food has always tasted underseasoned to me, and yesterday was no exception. I couldn't taste any garlic in the pesto sauce and the dressing in the apple-walnut salad I ordered lacked acidity. There was hardly any apple in the salad--a few paper-thin slices--and it contained maybe five walnuts total. $16 seemed like rather a lot for what it was. The food at this place isn't explicitly bad, but it is unexceptional. I've never had anything really great there except the tiramisu. The service is attentive--the waiter was patient with my rather fussy friend, and the owner seems like a nice gent--but I think I'm done with Tre Monti. read more

Amazing little gem hidden in Los Altos. Giovanni the owner has been putting out amazing food, dessert and good service for a few years now. Lazy me , finally got around to reviewing Tre Monti. Today I decided to go for lunch to Tre Monti. I ordered the Chicken Panini, which came in wonderful bread with fresh mozzarella, sliced tomato and lettuce. I also ordered a minestrone soup, which was steaming hot. For dessert I had the home made cheese cake with italian coffee. The cheese cake has very little sugar in it yet it tastes heavenly. I was enjoying sipping the coffee and eating the cheese cake when to my shock I realized there wasn't any creamer in the coffee!!! I have never drunk coffee without creamer, yet I like this Italian coffee. This place also has wonderful pizzas which are made fresh, including the dough. If the world was going to end, I'd come here for my last meal. read more

I was craving salmon and capers, and this place did not disappoint. It was a good large piece of salmon perfectly cooked- not overdone- and perfectly seasoned. It came with roasted cauliflower. That's it? The menu said roasted veggies, so why only cauliflower? And for the price, I would have liked more veggies or a carb. It didn't come with any carb, but they offered me bread which was nice. I'll have to return and eat in next time. My food was to go. read more

Went here with two girlfriends I hadn't seen since before the pandemic, so we jumped right into conversation (no pictures), but.... 1. Food was delicious! 2. Service was great! We ordered... The burrata appetizer, which could have been a meal in itself. The candied walnuts were an interesting addition (I'm planning to try that at home). Also ordered to share their margarita pizza - classic pizza made well. The crust was crispy and chewy in all the right spots! Also had a salad and to end the meal, we shared their tiramisu (really tasty!) it actually had texture since they put in chunks of chocolate- will try that at home too! Each server was friendly, attentive, and each spoke with an Italian accent - I could have listened to them talk all day! They have a variety of fresh made pastas and sandwiches that looked delicious as well (looked at what others around us ordered!), so will need to come back and try them next time! read more

We went there on Friday night.The service and ambiance were ok. However, our food was not great. The first thing we had was bread with a pesto dip. The pesto was not very flavorful. My girlfriend had the potato and asparagus soup. It was bland. And I had the zucchini pasta. It was also bland. Better seasoning would have been helpful. They do make a good aperol spritz. We really wanted to like this place...maybe it was an off night. Would try it again to see if that was the case. read more

Over all I do recommend Tre Monti. Their menu is reduced just like so many other restaurants across the nation. Not their fault. We as customers need to understand this and not get mad at the establishment, but they instead go with the flow. My grandson loves their olive dip for their homemade bread. Was having high hopes for this place. Somehow food portion is very off. Pasta is smaller than a kid size. Dessert is double of normal. Pastas has no salt. Lamb chop sauce has not taste by potato is nicely seasoned. Not sure what is the reason. We order wine, it come in a tall glass which is very beautiful. Chef comes out to greet us. Food are hit and miss. I think we probably didn't order the right food? Obviously we saw a lot of old people who look like they are the usual. There must be something good but I didn't order those. Parking was easy to find right outside. We were first seated in a place where it is smaller than compact SUV dog seat. Just cannot even breath. No one should be ask to seat there. We asked to move and we got move to the isle. Food was not what I expected. Seasoning is off. But meat and food cook at perfect temperature. Food portion is strange. We are not hungry to start with but kid size pasta is hard to be placed on a huge plate without looking odd. This place is a bit too small to feel comfortable. Everything tasted fresh and homemade with plentiful portions. (Also, some of the best homemade bread and olive oil I have ever tasted.) Hands-down, the best Italian pasta in Los Altos. Definitely worth the money. It's an intimate place, and the owners greet you by name There's a lot of money in Los Altos. Which means there's a lot of good food. Which also means entrées are expensive. But Tre Monti does not disappoint. I've never tried the pizzas, but the pasta is remarkable and very seafood forward. I've been coming to this place for about a year now, and it's authentic food, elegant wines, really wonderful desserts, and very nice service. It's smaller but the less they spend on real estate, the more they can focus on quality and service. The basque cheesecake here is absolutely unreal. I wish I could give this restraunt a better star rating the one star is for the service we received. otherwise the food was good. I came with my mom last night to Celebrate her birthday and Mother's Day. my mom was upset and asked three different waiter/waitress they all gave her the shrug of shoulder and said sorry there was nothing they could do about it. she wanted to move tables because 1 our table was wobbly so they used some stopper thing to make it not wobbly but it still was very wobbly second they told her the table behind us was reserved for three people but in the end was only two people eating at the table. so it made my mom sad think they discriminate against us because we are Asian. This will be the first and last time we come to this restaurant for sure. my mom is very particular about the customer service at restraunts. I work in the food industry so I am picky about my food. the food was good and the waitress seemed to only care of the food was good or not. Delicious food and incredible service! Reminded me of Italy. Husband and I were the first to stroll in for a casual lunch. The waiter opened the door for us, was very polite and we were greeted by the manager and bartender (I don't think that was his job but he was behind the bar when we entered) who also served us. The food was delicious! We tried the cavatelli pasta, special seafood risotto and artichokes appetizer. The flavors were incredible! I've had so many risottos (a fave dish of mine) in Michelin restaurants and in Italy (Milan and Rome) and this one was up there! The rice was perfectly cooked and the sauce was soaked up without it being soggy/sticky. Highly recommend if you're looking for that authentic home cooked Italian pasta. Got the spaghetti bolognese, seafood risotto, and margherita pizza. Bolognese and risotto were amazing. The homemade pasta was perfectly chewy. The pasta portion looks small but was surprisingly filling. The pizza was really flimsy but still tasted good. For dessert, we got french vanilla gelato and tiramisu. (Not world class, though, and hence no five stars). The only real complain, and you judge how much of a crime is it: the double espresso I ordered was awful. We were a group of 4 for dinner. We all eat out often, as well as travel a lot. We had never been to this restaurant. It is one thing if the food is good, but the service is not, or vice versa. Two of us ordered fried artichokes. Inedible. I would often go to Watsonville for fried artichokes. Outstanding. However, what we were served last night was bad. There were a few bits of the heart, but the majority was leaves. Impossible to chew and flavorless. I ordered a pasta dish. OK - but nothing special. My wife order pasta. Not good. Our host ordered an artichoke soup. Not good. So, that covers the food. Now, the service. I believe our server was having a bad day. Our reservation was at 6:30. We took a while to decide. Now this is on a Saturday evening. Once the food arrived, our server was nervous. Definitely not a happy camper. At one point he actually made it clear that they were near closing and we should eat up. I think it was only 8:30. With so many good options in our area, I would avoid this place. Superb experience on a Sunday afternoon. We chose outdoor seating as it was a sunny 72 with a slight breeze. One of the servers is recently from Italy and certainly has a genuine interest in customer service. Moreover, his Italian accent is wonderful. I listened closely so I could better pronounce my few Italian words. Fresh bread came out quickly with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Portions are generous. The bowl of minestrone was very filling. If they have fresh burrata available - consider requesting a Caprese Burrata appetizer (it may not be listed but sometimes available upon request) All pastas are freshly made on site. Lastly, the Tiramisu is divine. One can feed two. Most tiramisus I've had from other places are meh and not worth ordering again. However, at Tre Monti, I will come back just for an afternoon to sip a latte and have their Tiramisu. read more

so to be honest I ended up here by accident. The original plan was to go to cafe nur next door but we confused the sign by the entrance and ended up here instead. It all worked out and the man that served us was very hospitable and friendly. While we waited we were served some bread with a olive tapenade spread that was delicious. The price point for the dishes was on the higher side (~$25+ for entrees) but pretty standard for the area. My friend and I ended up splitting one of the specials for the day which was a beet ricotta ravioli with eggplant in a marinara sauce. The beet flavor wasn't over powering and added a gentle sweetness to the dish. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. read more

Celebrated my son's high school graduation here. Food was a bit on the pricier side; $25 for a plate of pasta is more than what I'm used to paying. But I'll admit that my dish (pappardelle alla boscaiola -- wide-noodle pasta with prosciutto, sweet peas, mushrooms, and a white wine cream sauce) was quite delicious. I ignored the $21 price of the burrata appetizer and ordered two of them because I adore burrata and several in our party had never had it before. Everyone loved it, and both were gone in seconds. The Tre Monti salad ($16) was good but nothing special. For entrees, our group also had the spaghetti alla bolognese ($25), the mezzo maniche al salmone (tube pasta with smoked Alaskan salmon in a tomato cream sauce, $27), the ribeye steak ($61), the king salmon acquapazza ($36), and one of the pizzas (not sure which one). Didn't hear any complaints from anyone. They threw in a free tiramisu for the new graduate, which also was good. It was not a cheap meal; dinner for 8 with cocktails or wine for 7 of us, the three appetizers, an automatic 20% tip due to the party size, and a little extra that I threw in because it was a pretty great meal experience, came to $519, so about $64 per person, which I guess isn't too outrageous for Silicon Valley. read more

Um, Wow! The BEST Italian food I have had anywhere for a long time. It starts with warm fresh baked bread. When you taste it, you know you made a good choice. Great value for Los Altos. The burrata (@ $18) had $18 worth of prosciutto and $18 worth of burrata (if you order this dont each too much bread in advance as you will want to eat some with the gooey delicious cheese and thick cut meat). We also split the beet salad, which they brought out in two bowls (both looked like full salads to me). We were hardly hungry when the entrees came, but I still managed to eat 2/3 of an amazing pizza. We had a super tuscan for $65 which was fantastic and seemed like a bargain (admittedly I don't know price points on Italian wines). We didn't want dessert, but they brought us a gelato to celebrate our first visit with fresh berries. Was so focused on the food, almost forgot the service. Everything was perfect. Friendly, not intrusive, knowledgeable. Please, please, please patronize this place so it stays. We are already planning a group outing with friends. read more
