All the employees go over and above the call of duty to be helpful. My recently purchased "Squirrel Buster:" bird feeder broke and I struggled with fixing it. I brought it in to see if anyone could help me fix it and Jacob figured it out quickly and repaired it in no time at all. The quality of birdseed, suet, bird feeders and birdhouses is wonderful! The hours they are open is very helpful for people who work full-time. I am also VERY impressed that during the past fifteen years of frequenting this establishment, I have never once seen an employee on their phone wasting time. They have hired very conscientious employees and they all work very hard to keep Trellis clean and welcoming! Between esoteric gift options, a fantasyland of plants, and feed for many animals... I could spend hours wandering around Trellis. We came in to buy cracked corn to feed to wild geese. We had tried many other "feed stores" only to find that they really only carried either bulk dog food or hay. Trellis has pretty much everything -- including friendly and knowledgeable employees (like Emma) to help me navigate its bounty. Find an excuse to come in here! Has an overall throwback Mayberry vibe. Prices are reasonable; if you really need to get something at the absolute lowest price, they might not be your best bet, but they're not over the top either, and I appreciate being able to support an actual family business and their service has always been very good. Got 8 chicks in late March that have had no issues- very healthy and alert birds. Never had a bad experience with any of their employees; they're that good balance between efficient and friendly. I'm glad they're in my area. read more

I happened upon this place completely by accident. I was heading home from Geneva and spotted it on the side of the road. Their main sign wasn't lit but they had a neon light that said open and it was on. There was also a painted sign that I could barely make out in the dark, but I read it well enough to see that it said "farm fresh eggs." The lights in the store were on and the parking lot seemed to be a happening place at 8:45 pm. I figured, What have I got to lose? So I turned the car around and came in. Everyone was so nice! I was greeted as if I were a long lost friend and strangers who appeared to be other customers were saying hi to me. It was so unexpected but appreciated. People were just hanging around and chatting with each other. They even had a pretty sweet spread out on the main counter. I asked what the occasion was and the cashier said there was a big equine event going on so they had extended business hours. I saw later that their door says they are typically only open until 6pm on weekdays. This wasn't a huge butcher shop or produce place as I had initially thought based solely on the egg sign. It's, as the name would suggest, a store for most of your farm and garden needs. It's also a feed store for your furry friends. They have a good amount of equestrian gear and tons of stuff for dogs. I wish I lived closer so I could do more shopping here. I finally located the eggs in a fridge kind of out of the way. They have a cute cardboard sign over the refridgerator encouraging you to help yourself. I opened the door and was a bit sad to see that there was only a single carton of eggs left. One of the employees came by and told me they have a hard time keeping it stocked because they just fly off the shelf. But I was pleasantly surprised to find the only dozen available were duck eggs. I'd never had those before, so I was really happy to get to try something new. I took the eggs home and they are delicious! I will definitely stop by again if I'm in the area. read more

Wide variety of quality horse feeds from Purina and Buckeye as well as some of the lower price brands. They also carry a decent assortment of horse treats and general grooming and stable supplies. I really like the fact that they carry the Evo cat food as well as this allows me to shop for both of my four-legged friends at one place. The service is super friendly and the guys are always willing to carry bags of feed out to your vehicle. The staff members are also very well educated when it comes to horse feeds and supplements. read more

The workers are all so kind and helpful, carrying my purchases to my car. They have farm fresh eggs and delicious honey products. So glad to have found them! read more

I've driven out here a few times from Chicago looking for bales of hay for my rabbit. Every time I've received the best customer service. They always have the most friendly young men able to load your car up, and on top of it they are pacient and knowledgeable. They don't mind if you take your time and ask them several questions. This place is definitely worth going out of the way for for the service alone, but the product is always 5 stars as well. Plus great customer service if you call ahead on the phone. read more

After being a loyal customer for YEARS, the owner insisted i RETURN a 50 pound bag of birdseed that was all dust, no seed, in order to get a refund. Load it up, drive it across town, document the dispute in "hopes" i could get a $20 refund? They KNOW i have been a good customer. Do they think i need $20 so badly that i would try to scam them on a bag of birdseed?..........she actually said "they have to protect themselves from people doing that". The reason for my call was to place a substantial order, which easily would have absorbed their cost for a one bag of seed refund. Let them sell their stuff to someone else. read more

I have been a customer for 30 years. For the past 15 years I have had 40 lb bags of salt delivered for my water softener. The $10 delivery fee always included the bags being carried down into the basement and stacked next to the water softener. I am a 63 year old women with a bad back. Today when they were delivered I was told that he could not take them down stairs because of COVID. First, I should have been told that when I placed the order over the phone. I would have ordered smaller bags. Second, I've had all sorts of deliveries and repair people in my home during COVID and we all just wore masks. Finally, I am vaccinated so I am of little threat to someone else. I will no long be a customer. read more

The staff was so helpful and understanding of my situation. The one employee provided me a number for a tow company (after failed attempts with my insurance company) that he was familiar with and I was able to get out of there just before Trellis closed! Quit boring your guests with big box stores! I know I have... I've lived in Saint Charles over 25 years but grew up in the city. For this reason alone I love taking out of town guests to Trellis. Granted most of them are domestic animal lovers but so its perfect for any animal lover. The flowers, variety of bird seeds, birdhouses, dog and cat food/accessories, horse feed/accessories, fresh eggs etc. plus the antique section. They always leave the store with lots of unique treasures and take their picture by the horse and carriage display for their fb profile. My new rescue dog needed a harness and to show me how to adjust the straps the guy took me by his husky in the back of the store and put it on her to actually show me. Who does that in this day and age! They have wellness days for dog and cat vaccinations and all sorts of educational programs. Owners are on site. Hard working employee's are professional and always looking to help. The only thing I regret is not writing my review sooner. This place is by far the best local feed store (I used to work at a competitor) and I like the feel of the inside of the store/barn, they have a great selection of premium dog food (although I am not a fan of Purina), and a really great range of horse feed and bedding. They are always pleasant to deal with, and make shopping there fun. I like that they have the horse bedding out to touch and see (most places don't), for someone who is picky about fine-pick shavings, this is a nice thing to be able to do. This is easily one of the best pet stores in town. Trellis has a rustic, country/farm themed ambience that perfectly suits the high quality products it sells. This store offers a variety of products and brands that you won't be able to find in any chain pet supply stores like Petco, PetSmart, etc. Trellis also has supplies for less common pets like birds, rabbits, and especially horses. Although they primarily offer items for these kind of pets, they of course have a selection quality dog and cat supplies as well. It may be a bit more pricey, but its organic and high quality products are definitely worth it! read more

Small town feel with quick service. This place is a cross between those convenience stores you run in for milk and a farm and fleet store. They have multiple brands of great quality dog food, treats and toys. (we use Natural Balance or Fromm's) They have lots of natural dog treats that are cheaper than the more decorative fancier pet shops. The dog food prices are in line with the regular prices at the larger pet food chains. The bonus to buying it here is the helpfulness of the staff. They even have a shop dog named Otis. (whom BTW, I've never heard bark and has never jumped or licked anyone that I can tell) For being such a small place they have a lot of different items, including yard/garden items/seeds and art, horse supplies, dog supplies, fish (pond fish), chickens (yes, live chickens, the cute ones for backyard coops), rabbits, and fresh eggs. Seasonally, they also sell Christmas trees, plus starter vegetable plants, hanging flower pots, pumpkins and hay bales for decorations. Stop in and say hello to Otis for me. read more

We have only order the 50# softener salt blocks and the experience we had with the delivery leave something to be desired! First of all, the delivery guy was very very nice. However, when the blocks arrived they were FILTHY and chipped. I would have had to rinse them off before putting them in my softner. Next when I called them to complain about the blocks being such poor quality all we got was an apology. No offer to fix the situation, either to deliver new cleaner blocks or to give us a partial refund for the VERY DIRTY blocks that were practically unusable. So, I finally asked them to just come back and pick them up and that it was unacceptable. The way they treated me on the phone was unprofessional and they were chuckling as if they had just finished smoking weed. So I have to ask, do you grow weed there as well as sell weed and feed? Now, I'm laughing! In the future, I will be taking my business elsewhere! They sell the same blocks for just as much but much cleaner and usable! Puttting muddy blocks in your softener will destroy it! Thanks but NO thanks! read more

This is such a great place I get my dog food here and everything outside. I had an area that would not grow has in my yard and has been an issue for years. Talked to Tommy and he recommended a certain type of grass seed and with in a week grass that thrived. I being my son in and they let him feed the chickens. Just a great place if you want to buy local from the little guy. They try to buy local as well with all their eggs from local farmers. read more
