Joseph was great I orginally hired another rooter company to fix a simple bathtub drain clog and they were at my home for 2 days (snaking, camera, cut holes in wall to access pipes behind tub, jetting) and couldn't fix it. Then they said they needed to descale and epoxy my secondary lines for another $5700, after I spent $1800 already for the previous work. Then I called Joseph and he fixed the drain for $280 and put everything back together! When he left, we gave him a soda and thought he'd get back in touch with an estimate. Instead, a week or two later, I hear back from another company that he asked to call us (I didn't know that Joseph was planning to do this or that he couldn't do the repipe himself...he never told me). Tuesday 3/22/22 I left home around 8:30 AM and saw nothing out of the ordinary. Came home around 4PM and the water meter vault was flooded as well as part of the parkway. Well shoot. Years ago I had been a plumber for a while and knew how to diagnose the problem, Turned off the ball valve at the house and looked at the meter and the flow indicator was spinning, indicating a leak between the meter and house. Through Yelp, I contacted several plumbers and ended up obtaining 4 quotes Wednesday and Thursday, one of which was for Trench Plumbing. The instant I met Joseph C. and started talking to him, I was very impressed. This is a driven young man with an excellent understanding of work ethic and customer service in an old school kind of way. He is polite, affable, neat and clean. Comparing the quotes, I chose Joseph, Trench Plumbing . His quote was significantly lower than the other 3 (though the next highest was only $150 above his) and $1500 less than the highest bid. He started the work Friday morning around 11 (he had 2 jobs scheduled before me) and before sundown my water was back on. Now to the most impressive part, the quality of his work. This was a replacement, not a repair, so there was plenty of shovel work. When the digging was done I was dumbfounded. Joseph did not dig a ditch, he sculpted a trench. Sculpted. Never in my life have I seen shovel work like it. The depth was perfectly consistent. The bottom was flat, the walls were vertical, and watching him, there was no wasted movement. Every move counted. He takes a pride in his work that is rarely seen today anywhere. Anywhere. Joseph is a rare kind of craftsman, and 'craftsman' is a strange word to attach to someone who most would call a 'ditchdigger'. He is SO much more than that. Had to replace angle valves, and called multiple companies to try to get that fixed. We had to shut off our main line for the day since there was a leak we couldn't fix. Joe had the first availability and gave a quick estimate on the work at around 8 PM that night, and came by the next day at noon. Took about 1 hour to get the job done (job was a bit more tedious than expected), and even helped with the removal of a drain pipe that needed to be replaced without an additional cost. Joseph stayed true to the estimate he gave, and water seems to be working fine throughout the house again. He definitely cares about just doing a good job for others, and his prices are fair. So you got a blocked drain under your foundation and you look at the various estimates that you have received from your traditional plumbing operations and you don't know what to do.... Here is my suggestion.... If you have not received an estimate from Jospeh Camarena, who owns and runs Trench Plumbing - call him. I did and I don't regret the minute that I placed the call. He was timely and cost effective with his charges and flexible in scheduling the job on your time table (unless your job needs emergency attention, which also separates Trench from the rest). He and his crew were respectful of the job site, laid heavy paper on the wood floors and baseboards. Covered any exposed areas with plastic and when he drilled the concrete to access the clogged drain, he did it with minimal dust and little disruption to others working in the house. What started as a straight forward DIY bathtub spout replacement got complicated after I removed the old spout and the pipe from the wall didn't fit standard replacements sold in stores. After dealing with two other contractors who wasted hours of my time with the "we'll be by for an estimate" in a 4 hour window, only to have them take a two-second glance and give me overblown, bloated estimates. I like how Trench did things, by asking for pictures to get an idea of what he was dealing with, and Joseph was able to give me rough estimate as to cost without wasting my time. About a week later, I noticed a leak under my kitchen sink and again, Joseph asked for photos of the setup, and he was able to able to come and fix that, along with replacing a leaky kitchen faucet, in a reasonable amount of time and for a totally reasonable fee. No offense to the big companies that have enough service people to be sent out same day, but they are the ones who tried to overcharge me for basic things.
