Seniors beware! I was looking for a local plumber to change out two angle stop valves under the kitchen sink in preparation for my new dishwasher installation. So I called Scott Harrison Plumbing as listed in YELP. Simple right? When I called to arrange a time I was told Harrison plumbing had joined Dial One Sunshine Plumbing and would arrive the next morning. Right on time Alex Padilla of Dial One Sunshine Plumbing shows up and quotes me $552 for two new valves. Then he says the garbage disposal will need to be removed in order to access the hot water valve. Not a new disposal, just dropping it in order to access the valve which requires literally loosening a spring clamp and sliding back the hose from the dishwasher to the disposal, twisting off the clamp for the J pipe and a making a quarter twist on the disposal unit to drop it from the quick disconnect on the bottom of the sink. 3-5 minutes tops! Labor to do this? $445! Yup! Total cost to install two angle stops: $997. To be fair, the President of One Sunshine called me to apologize for the "mistake" made by Mr. Padilla, blamed Mr Padilla for being a new hire and not familiar with their pricing and asked how he could make it right, completely aware this review was forthcoming. I passed on his offer. Curiously shortly after our call a "estimate" was received by me via email confirming the above facts but adding a "manager's discount" of $445. BTW- I obtained two quotes from local plumbers with a low of $225 and high of $350, including removal and reinstalling the disposal. Angle stops will be installed this afternoon. The main sewer drain pipe needed to be replaced. After years of deterioration it was suggested that it be replaced. The crew Senior, Junior and Alex, worked hard for 2 days replacing all the relevant components of the plumbing, to correct the issue. They were extremely professional, courteous, explained everything that the job involved, and were patient with the questions and concerns that I had. It a major job, but these guys made it look easy. All their staff are inexperienced and shoddy plumbers who break things. I used them a couple of times and 3 out of the 4 times I got inexperienced plumbers that broke things in my house. The worse part is they break things and want you to pay for it when they should not be breaking things in the first place. I quit using them after I found a more honest plumber. I used Scott's services once before for a leak in an exterior pipe at my home. I liked their services so when I discovered a leak coming from one of the walls in my garage, I called them again. I'm not sure what happened between the first time they came out and the second, but the quality of their service was absolutely horrible. We were sent Jaymes and his assistant. They arrived sometime around noon and started searching for the leak. Jaymes was SO convinced that the leak was coming from the second story so he cut a hole in my living room ceiling. That was fine since the flooring in the living room was completely damaged at this point so it was a logical cut. He didn't find anything in the ceiling but then came to the conclusion that the water was likely coming from the master bathroom toilet. He said it was necessary to remove the toilet so I approved. It turned out, nothing was leaking there but the flange was not installed correctly so he ended up fixing that for us. All this was fine but it seemed like Jaymes wasted so much time running around the house sort of scatter brained and flustered. He had his assistant keep searching for the source of the leak and told him to cut a hole in my garage wall next. He somehow forgot that the garage walls are fire rated so there's a sheet of plywood behind it. His assistant didn't know either so he was stumped on why it wasn't an easy cut. They were unable to cut the drywall and just left a mess behind in the end. While all this was going on, they had the water line running so the leak started to seep through the garage wall again. The assistant and I saw where it was coming from and let Jaymes know. I'm not sure why but he didn't cut anything in that area to look for the leak. After he ran around frantically some more, Jaymes told me that they needed to take a lunch but they would come back in about an hour. I ended up leaving as well since there was no plumbing at the house. At around 7:30pm, I finally got a call from Jaymes to tell me that they were unable to find the source of the leak and that they needed Scott's help and would reschedule to come back another day. I did not hear from the office the following day so I reached out to set up another appointment. I was told that Scott was unavailable until the following week. We wouod be without plumbing for more than four days so my boyfriend and I decided to search for the leak ourselves. My boyfriend got a stethoscope and we turned the water on. About 45 minutes later, we found the leak coming from the same place the assistant and I originally thought it was leaking from. We removed the cabinet ourselves and cut the piece of drywall. What took Jaymes over seven hours, we found in less than an hour. Neither of us have any kind of plumbing experience. The next day, I called Scott's office to cancel the next appointment since there was no need to search for the leak anymore and was treated with a condescending tone. I was told that Jaymes is one of their top technicians (really??). Then they charged me close to $2,000 anyways for work that was not completed. They completely destroyed my walls and overcharged me for the work on the toilet, yet someone who no plumbing experience found what they couldn't find after 7 hours of searching. There is a very good reason why this company has a 3-star rating on Yelp. I was contacted by Kohler and informed that this company had been contracted to do a warranty repair on my toilet. Kohler instructs them to contact us within 1 business day from the time they receive the job, and Kohler instructs us to let them know if we do not get contacted within that timeframe. After 5 business days, I called this company Scott Harrison Plumbing and Heating, and left a message explaining the situation and providing my telephone number and requesting a callback. I waited another 3 business days, and never heard back from anyone. I called again and left another message letting them know that I no longer want to work with them and that I will reach back out to Kohler. You guys need to learn the basic fundamentals of customer service and how to return a phone call.... read more

We called Scott Harrison plumbing to look at our HVAC unit. I already had the part needed to be replaced - computer board. I was told he would not come out unless we agreed to a service call fee of $89 even though I already knew what I needed and they would not give me a price per hour. I decided to call him out and he came out and told my wife it would be $1200 for 3 to 4 hours of work. This guy is an HVAC contractor not an attorney. I understand that it delivers hot water in one minute. In an effort to save you a service call I must advise you that this is a demand pump. It doesn't turn on until activated. Many perimeters will determine the speed of receiving hot water. 60 seconds is a unreasonable expectation. No repairs are needed as the speed will likely not be changed by a visit from anyone. You are welcome to spend your money as you wish. The last occasion I was at your home I was there as you refused to pay your bill for the pump installation until we could get the system running. The part we put in was working but you had issue with the new pump communication to the old receiver. I don't make parts and no information from manufacture would say that they are not compatible. When I asked for further compensation you refused. I smiled outside but was offended you would steel from me to meet your needs. You are a man of means and should be ashamed. So you have free parts in your system that you forced me to donate so I could be paid for the work previously performed. I have to assume has been to your satisfaction until now. My decision to not service you any further is not something I do with out great consideration. The fact is I will not be serving your account any further. Our Kohler sensor faucet has been acting up so I called Kohler customer service. Since the faucet is fairly new all parts needed to be replaced was sent free of charge. The Kohler rep. referred Scott Harrison plumbing to replace the 4 items being sent to us. I called Scott's and made an appointment. First of all, a 4 hr window is a bit long, then the tech comes in w/o a mask or booties. My husband asked him if he had a mask and he said no, then we asked if he was at least vaccinated and he said no. Who doesn't have a mask nowadays? Specially someone that is not vaccinated?!! I was around with my two young children and I was uneasy after hearing this unmasked and unvaccinated person was in my kitchen. As soon as he left I had to sanitized the entire kitchen and all handles that he touched. We are in the middle of a pandemic, how can this company let their employees roam around people's home unmasked and unvaccinated?!? If you decide to hold off on the vaccine at least wear a mask! When we offered him a mask he said he was leaving... To made this experience even worse, he charged us $687 just for labor! How is that possible? He spent 30 min! Scott Harrison is not only skillful and professional but went above and beyond with our Rinnnai natural gas direct vent wall heater installation. I could not find anyone in my area who knew how to install a gas wall heater and could even do this installation properly. I am so thankful to have heat in my home thanks to Scott and Bert! They were quick clean and extremely accurate and efficient in their work. They also fixed my drippy kitchen faucet and garden hose bib and replaced my rusted on tub valve cover. Scott and his team just finished a three day project; determining where our sewer line problem was, excavating and repairing our pipes and then cleaning them out with a high pressure wash!! So glad we used them, they showed us visually where the problems were, did a complete diagnostic and developed a game plan to fix our multiple issues, namely sewer line blockage, leaking line and root growth in line. The drain under my bathroom sink has been slowly clogging for awhile now. It finally got to the point where even the smallest trickle of water would cause it to back up. I also noticed the drain pipe was starting to leak. I called my usual go to plumber yesterday to make an appointment for today but they were booked and couldn't fit me in. I remember seeing this plumbing company in my condo complex and since they have an A+ with the BBB and they're in Stanton I figured I'd give them a chance. I called up and the lady who answered the phone was extremely friendly. She fit in me for a 10am-12pm appointment. Jonathan and Joseph arrived a bit late. Both were extremely nice, very professional, and did a good job. Even though I gave them opportunity to up-sell thinking I would need new drain pipes they said all I needed was the drain to be snaked and the washers to be replaced. I was pleased they didn't take the opportunity to take advantage and make more money then necessary. They were very quick and did an excellent job. I asked if they had an extra o-ring I needed for my kitchen sink and they handed one right over saving me a trip to home depot! I'll stick to my usual plumber for future jobs. They arrived outside their time window without calling, I had to call the company to see what was going on and for the small mess I had to clean up afterward such as dirt on the sink counter tops and the toilet being filled with dirty toilet paper they were using to wipe up the pipes and under the sink. Just flush the toilet and it would of been gone guys! Another issue is the plumber used my cabinet doors to hoist himself up off the floor which in turn caused him to rip both doors right off the hinges. Literally ripped the effing doors off. My initial call and following dealings with the receptionists left me a little apprehensive about choosing Scott Harrison Plumbing. Scott was a little rude at first. While talking to him I thought I had call waiting or something because the phone kept beeping. I asked him if I was talking to a recording service but he quipped that that would be a train going by. I said good bye because I just didn't get a good feeling but I ended up calling him back because he was the only plumber willing to take a look at the pressurized leak I was dealing with after 5PM without a ridiculous fee. Following dealings with the receptionists were not so great either. They always seem less than thrilled to speak to me and were always in a rush, especially Shannon. It was always "Bye!" followed by an immediate *click.* She also had the balls to give me sass for not knowing that I needed to give her my first AND LAST NAME to be looked up in the system. While these may seem like minor issues, every customer wants to feel valued, respected, and comforted-especially if their home is flooding due to a plumbing emergency. My last complaint involves the scheduling. They could not triage my situation correctly even though it was a pressurized slab leak underneath the foundation. There was a 3 DAY gap between when my home was available to be visited and when they actually came back out and fixed the problem! Anyways I decided to stick with them based on the professionalism I received when dealing with Victor, one of the main plumbers. Overall, I'd give Scott and crew 3.5/5 stars. The leak is now fixed and the work they did looks clean and professional. Update: BIlling Issues: Shannon had charged me even though I had some questions about the charges (incomplete leak detection). The Fix: something happened between them filling in the slab with concrete and another leak springing up because water started seeping up again. I called Scott Harrison back and they broke up their concrete they filled in to find another leak 3 inches away and wanted another $550 ($250 for another "leak detection" and $300) to fix it even though something they did (filling in the hole) caused another leak. The pipe is clearly defective so we're just opting with a repipe even though insurance doesn't cover it. We're not going to go with Scott Harrison because his prices were on the higher end. read more

Alex solved the puzzle that 3 other plumbers couldn't. We were reluctant at first since others hadn't found our issue and didn't charge us but they guaranteed they could diagnose our issue for a fee. Well, you get what you pay for. We waisted a week trying other companies and even had the owner of Mitch Clemmons Plumbing come out who only spent 20 minutes here and left saying to just turn up our heater which I had already done. His other employee tried 2 hours to find the issue and couldn't find it either. Another plumber said our water heater was a lemon even though it's only 2 years old. Alex simply checked our water output per minute and quickly found that our water was being used to fast due to a damaged diverter that was leaking while the shower is running. He tested it and determined that alone was causing an extra 1.8 gallons a minute to be used. 1.8X15= 27 Extra gallons lost in 15 minutes! We have a 50 gallon and that alone is half of the tank. That also didn't include the shower head output per minute. I was able to do the repairs once he diagnosed the problem and Tested it with a long shower. The hot water didn't run out in 15 minutes like it was and everything is back to normal. Thanks again Alex! read more

Edit 7/9/2020-Mr Harrison called, apologized and had someone come out and rectify the situation with our tankless. We had them replace a tankless water heater for us and the relief valve wasn't working properly. It was under warranty at the time. They proceeded to check our incoming water pressure from the city and said it was high and we needed to add some tank and system on the OTHER side of our house to relieve the pressure. $$$$ We've lived in this house 26 years and all of a sudden have this issue?! They did not replace the relief valve. It still does not work properly. I would recommend you pass on them unless you want an up sell. ‍ read more

After turning off the water main and doing the bucket brigade collecting the water, Victor showed up at my doorstep in less than 45 mins. THANK YOU for the quick response!! (Ok, we HAVE been a customer for over 10 yrs. house built in 1969 has occasional issues.). Our water heater was previously installed by a handyman. Come to find out he never connected the exhaust vent! So, carbon monoxide has been venting to the garage and wall space. We could have been killed! I called Scott Harrison plumbing and was told on the phone that there would be a $39 service fee. The plumbers would tell me what it would cost to fix the issue and I could use the $39 towards the cost. When Alex and Bert came, they were checking out the issue and then said it would cost $295 to diagnose. The amount would not be credited toward fixing the plumbing issue. Then they said it would cost $1,895.00 to shut the water off and drain the system, cut out old mixit shower valve, cut out the tile around old shower valve, and for the new parts. I called the company the next day to ask about the $295 diagnostic fee for the 30 minutes they were there. I was told that it was a correct charge. I found the price to be exorbitant!!! He refused to answer labor to replace and exactly what the hot water heater would cost. Called Liquid Plumbing (also used by Lowe's) who did a great job for almost $1000 less. Not tradesmen plumbers, but Con Artist Salesmen Plumbers. Trained to use their Trade to Steal from Customers. They do not know their role and the hourly rate for their trade. They think they can earn the hourly rate of an educated person like a surgeon, with there con artist salesman approach. They will upsell warranty work, pump the customer for an endless amounts of money on paying customer work. They do not properly inspect systems and diagnose a problem then quote one price to repair and fix all the problems right at a trade rate. They will charge you for a loose technical troubleshooting approach rather than a complete inspection and analytical diagnosis that finds all the problems. They miss important problems and then they find problem after problem and charge you separate for each problem at a very inflated rate per job rate. They will further ask for further compensation and continue to pump you for cash. If you refuse they leave you with a improper unsafe incomplete repair. They become offended you would steal from them to meet your needs. If you are smart you never will let a Trades Criminal/ Criminal Contractor into your house in the first place. Places like these educate the employees on how to take advantage of customers to meet monthly sales targets. Meaning replace good appliances as bad, upsell warranty work, use incomplete diagnosis and come back and pump the paying customer for more and more cash. Only pay a plumber per hour for a complete system inspection and diagnosis and complete job and get it in writing with a labor warranty for a repair or install should any missed problems creep up. This means language on the invoice addressing the complete system inspection and troubleshooting, plumbing and any electrical, special mounting will be covered by the plumber on installs and repairs they do for you. Parts by the manufacturer warranty. Whirlpool sent me to these people for warranty repair since they only supply the water heater burner under warranty and the plumber supplies the gas valve. Began upselling me on the phone. Not intertested in a $350 calcium flush con artists. If you have a BRAIN STAY AWAY FROM THESE TRADES CONS. Whirlpool has complaints from numerous customers against this company for warranty service. Ask whirlpool for a complete list of all plumbers in your area and then do your research and screen for CONS! Had a professional plumber install the parts since whirlpool only supplies one of the warranty parts and the plumber the other. BUT IT WONT VOID WARRANTY IF YOU DO IT YOURSELF, Just insist on all the parts from manufacturer warranty claim. read more

Been a loyal customer since i moved to CA, 2014. They were good in the past, but have gone thru many technicians on their end, they upgraded technology & passed the bill for all of this onto the customer - costs have gone up at least 120% for parts & laboour! LOVED Alex, but they sent Jaymes...Agree w/previous yelper that he was touted as #2 in their ranks, & unfortunately he's useless. When he replaced my bathroom sink handles, he left them leaking. I was unable to use that bathroom sink for 2 weeks. Water was shut down & waited for them to come back & charge me $390 ×2 to replace faucet handles correctly. No matter I called co where faucet was made, & they sent updated handles instead of old model (which i have). Of course, valves for newer model don't work, but why should i have to pay the same amount again when he didn't get the job completed & didn't check things out to make sure everything is in order before starting job? I'm not a plumber & have no knowledge of faucet hardware. Also, Jaymes installed a new faucet (that i purchased) on my kitchen sink, & mixed up the hot/cold valves (we got under sink ourselves & figured that out in 5 mins). Bottom line $780.00 to put new handles (i bought both products) for labour - no thank you...that's more money than my husband makes in 3 hours as an attorney! **update** I would have recommend them if you need inspections, but Bert who came to do my yearly plumbing inspection kept asking me if things drained or leaked. I just replied, "i don't know" Isn't he supposed to check that?! Seems lazy to me...he wouldn't have gone to check these things if i had not given those responses (I know because he's been here in the past). It seemed a little questionable but I agreed to pay the estimate charge. When they got here, after reviewing the damages and providing a quote, they tried charging me $150 service fee that I adamantly refused to pay. They took my $45 and I've never hear from them again. Here is my tale of woe. On Sept. 23, 2022, I discovered water seeping up through the panels in my hallway flooring. Assuming I had a busted pipe (my worst fear), I called State Farm and was told to call a plumber. Scott Harrison was my Dad's plumber from the time I was in high school. (I am now 74). He has done work for me and my sister's family over several years. I hesitated to call him on a Sunday, but I was desperate to stop the "flood." I turned off the water to the house. He said that it would cost an extra $250 on Sunday. I grudgingly agreed. He arrived and very quickly surmised, rightly so, that the problem was with my indoor air conditioner. He pointed out the faulty shut off valve, or lack of one. He then cut a pliable "soft" white pipe to allow the water to drain away from my hallway. He said he was concerned that the pan may be rotted but would not remove it without the ok from State Farm. He then charged me $864.00 for approximate 30 minutes of work! He told me not to worry, that State Farm would pay part of it. Turns out, State Farm has never had a policy for paying for the cause of the damage, only the damages. My adjustor even questioned the high amount. I ended up calling an HVAC repair service and, upon their arrival, told them about the $864.00 that Scott had charged. They were in disbelief that anyone would charge that much for basically "a bandaid." They came with equipment to carefully examine and photograph the inside of the air conditioner, the pan, and outside fan, There was so much rust damage that the whole system would need to be replaced. They must have seen the shock on my face and the tears in my eyes, for they refused to charge me a single cent for all their time-consuming work. I called Scott who tried to justify the $864.00 because as he said, "everything has gone up. I have more expenses." Rather than calling the adjustor, he told me to have her call him, which of course she would not do. That "bandaid" cost me $864.00! Scott is no longer my plumber. read more

Called Scott Harrison plumbing to repair a bad wax ring. They quoted a $39 service fee and when they arrived and took ten seconds to look at it, they wanted $393 dollars for a simple, 30 minute job! Outrageous. Way over-priced. Gave them $39 and told them to get out of my building. Don't call these ripoff artists unless you like getting stiffed! Would NEVER use them again. read more

We have used Scott Harrison Plumbing and Heating several times now and each experience has been very positive. Most recently, we had another plumbing service come in for a clogged drain and they ended up giving us a $3000 quote to fix the issue. We call Scott Harrison and Alvin and Michael came out and resolved the issue in $250. We had them do some other preventive maintenance work for us. They are very honest and do very good work. When I suspected a hot water line leak in the copper pipes beneath the house i called Scott Harrison Plumbing. They were referred by a close friend who told me that they could handle big jobs- like my slab leak. Within two days they had detected the leak, shut down the old line and rerouted the new hot water line without having to dig a crater in the kitchen. Price was fair and the work was done with quality. Sean explained the repairs and worked to minimize the collateral damage that comes with fixing a slab leak. Reviews state plumbers know their job, however the receptionist, Amy was beyond unprofessional. I called to schedule an inspection, unbeknownst to her 2 very professional and knowledgeable staff members had helped me previously. She advised me there was no information on file, when in fact there was and she advised she was unable to send me the schedule via email, wrong again. Her peers had done was she is unable to do. Her listening skills and lack of customer skills give this company a bad name. She kept on interrupting me and unlike her peers, she is unwilling to help or go above and beyond.
