Came here for a Father's Day lunch with my sister, a visiting friend and, of course, my Dad (who recommended this fantastic spot!) and couldn't be more pleased. The service was attentive (though they did try to remove a plate that still had food on it, which was a bit weird) but we ordered dumplings both ways, which were so delicious you couldn't help but finish, then three entrees, all of which were tasty. I ended up taking the leftover spicy shrimp home with rice and eating the next night and it was still amazing (my Dad took the rest!). So much food but also so tasty. Worth every penny. Will come back some day to try their duck. I was surprised this spot was so empty!

Overall, this is a great value for NYC with most entrees being good sized portions for about $35 bucks. You can definitely just get a few and share. As for the food, everything was served hot and flavorful. Food service was paced super well without feeling like it was rushed. The place itself is classy but not insanely classy where you feel uncomfortable. For apps, we got the dumplings and they had a good texture on the wrapping and flavor on the filling. For entrees, we got the crispy orange beef, chicken with walnuts and the shrimp with spicy sauce. All were tasty bit my favorite was the chicken due to the texture and flavor. With the crispy orange beef, make sure to drizzle with the sauce. It makes the dish. Overall, I'd return again for another meal.

This is the place to go if you are bougie and crave Peking duck. They sell a lot of duck, so you know it is fresh. Fancy white table cloths and nice waiters. You can also order other Chinese food but we got the whole duck with pancakes, sauce, cucumbers and scallions for $88. The pancakes are kept warm in a steamer.

This is a solid spot to get some high quality flavorful Chinese food. We ordered: - Shrimp toasts (10/10) Must get. Beyond flavorful and delicious. - Sesame chicken (6/10) Tasted more like sweet and sour sauce than sesame, - Crispy Half Duck (7/10) Duck was juicy and flavorful - Shrimp fried rice (5/10) Just okay. Lacked salt and carried a Smokey flavor which was interesting. Service was quick and the vibe of the restaurant was calm and tranquil. Definitely a good spot for larger groups too.

Peking duck is juicy and well prepared. We also tried the dumplings as appetizers which were big fat and juicy. The service was fair even though the servers were all dressed in a tux. The ambiance is upper scale feeling as reflected by the price...but for a NYC midtown experience, it's worth a visit if you are in the neighbor and enjoys a good Peking duck.

After work on Thursday, 9/25, Mom and I met up with our wonderful friends for an amazing celebration. It was my first time at the Peking Duck House, 53rd St location. The service was great, the atmosphere was nice, and most importantly, the Peking Duck was delicious. We'll be back for more!

Writing this with the worst stomach ache I've experienced in a LONG time. How can a place named for Peking duck have such absolutely flavorless duck? There was more taste in the cucumber provided than in the duck. The sizzling shrimp was described to us as shrimp in a garlic sauce, and while it was definitely a sauce I could hardly identify anything that was sugar in this sauce. The fried rice was nice done but with random overly salty bites and flavorless bites as well. We think some of the duck was in the rice, cannot confirm, but it would make sense why there were flavorless bites integrated throughout. This place needs to cut down on the free parts of the meal (i.e., fruit, appetizer), which were bland at best and plain BAD at worst, and focus on the things that people come here for. I will say, there is a pretty good wonton soup here and the service is quick if a little clumsy.

We got the $59 per person menu that was such an incredible value. I went with my boyfriend. They start you off with individual soup of your choice, then you get all the appetizers plated for you individually. You get 1/2 a peking duck and choice of entree and comes with a side of fried rice. We got LOBSTER SCALLION as the entree. What a steal. Food was very good. Duck wasn't the best I've had but the meal was very delicious. The service was very slow though and food took a while to come out. I'd still go back and recommend to friends.

Seated me immediately, accommodated my preference for only half a duck plate, was served relatively fast. The whole aesthetic looked a bit bland. The duck was pretty good however I've had better at lesser price. Overall, not a bad pick

The duck lived up to the hype! Succulent and juicy with crispy skin balanced out with cucumber, scallions & hoisin. Service was very attentive and the ambiance was straight out of a Seinfeld episode!

Peking duck house been around for decades! My mom said she took me when I was a teenager with her friends, I definitely remember and it is still exactly the same. Each table adorned with white table cloths and place settings, and definitely catering to large groups. This is definitely one of the more old school Chinese restaurants, waiters still wearing suits to serve you and all speaking Chinese, very straight face rarely smiling. However once you speak Chinese with them, they soften up. Of course coming here, the speciality is the Peking duck. Which came with wraps, cucumber, scallion and sauce. You can watch the chef cut up the duck, and the servers also will wrap it for you. However I love wrapping my own. The duck was lean, not oily, however hubby did not love as much as it was not such a crispy skin. We also ordered the string beans dish, which I love. It was a generous portion and cooked to perfection. Overall, definitely one of the better Peking ducks in nyc and very affordable.

Classic place settings. Feel like it has not changed in years

I cannot believe I am having Peking duck again! Third time in just over a week! But my cousin was really craving it and I can never say no to Peking duck. I have very fond memories of Peking duck house. We first went here almost 30 years ago when I was in law school. And I think they have not really changed very much in all that time (other than the prices ). This is not to say that the interior is old and worn out. To the contrary, they really maintain it well. But it still feels like I enter a time warp whenever we go there. We ordered hot and sour soups and wonton egg drop soup. Both solid. Not bad but not amazing; just solid. We also get pork dumplings, which were good although they give you a big bowl of sauce for the dumplings. Not sure why because we barely made in a dent. Hopefully they do not reuse... We were hungry so forgot to take pics of anything but the duck. We also ordered the sautéed Chinese broccoli but asked for no oyster sauce. I find it much cleaner prepared this way. As for the duck, still very good after all these years. There is a guy that comes by and carves it up in front of us. Unlike Xouji, they do not give us the option of taking home the carcass or making soup from it. Xouji also gives you a lot more duck. I could not recall if the duck at Xouji was much bigger but we got a lot more meat at Xouji. And Xouji is a lot closer so next time we are in the mood for Peking duck, Xouji it will be.

    Do they have high chairs?

    Yes

I haven't been here in probably ten years, did they stop serving Bao buns with their Peking duck? That was the best part.

Got off the E train and when we looked for Chinese food, this place popped up with good reviews and it was just a short walk from where we got off the train. My buddies ordered the special lunches and we also got two types of xlb's, beef chow fun, and some fried dumplings. The special lunches come with a little fried rice, cold garlic flavored noodle, choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup, and main side. My buddies all enjoyed their meals. The beef chow fun was also really good and beef was nice and tender. The xiao long baos were excellent and is comparable to any place in California like DTF. Nice and juicy and great with some ginger, soy sauce, and spicy chili. Friendly service and food comes out pretty quickly. Credit card is accepted. "How 'bout there?" he responded pointing to Excellent Dumpling House. It was directly across the street. I pulled up Yelp, saw good reviews and readily agreed. At 3:30, the restaurant was empty. There were a few takeout orders, but we were the only people sitting down for late lunch. And y'know ... it was pretty good. Wonton soup is what I'd expect in Chinatown. Wonton wrappers were thin -- my preference -- the stuffing delicious and the broth flavorful. They were generous with the beef in our chow fun. Good, but the noodles needed a jolt. So I asked for soy sauce which was sort of a solution. Shrimp with vegetables was great. A lot of shrimp, too. There are lunchtime specials on weekdays, reasonable prices, and nice people work there. Next time it makes sense to try dumplings since it is, after all a dumpling house.

Located within the historic Chelsea Market building--a former Nabisco factory where Oreo cookies were first produced--the restaurant feels theatrical in the best possible way. The soaring ceilings, dramatic lighting, and energetic atmosphere create a sense of occasion from the moment you walk in. It feels less like simply going out to dinner and more like stepping into a beautifully staged production. I started with a Botanist Gin Martini with a twist, which paired wonderfully with the meal. The surprise star of the evening was the new Cucumber Tiger Salad. The balance of flavors was exceptional: bright acidity, a pleasant touch of heat, and just enough mint to make each bite feel fresh and exciting. Every so often the mint would come through and suddenly all the flavors would click together in a way that made me immediately want another bite. This is a dish I would happily order again. Next came the Edamame Dumplings. They were delicate and comforting, especially when enjoyed with the accompanying broth. The broth adds depth and richness that elevates the entire dish. My only suggestion would be the slightest touch more salt, perhaps even a finishing sprinkle of black volcanic salt for both flavor and presentation. I also found myself wishing there were a bit more of that delicious broth because it contributes so much to the overall experience. For my entrée, I ordered the Glazed Alaskan Black Cod, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation. The fish was rich, buttery, and perfectly prepared. What impressed me most was how thoughtfully the accompaniments were composed. The pickled cucumbers brought brightness, acidity, and crunch, while the black bean and eggplant relish delivered deep savory notes and unexpected complexity. I'm generally not an eggplant fan, but this relish was outstanding. The cucumbers and relish sit at opposite ends of the flavor spectrum, yet both somehow make the cod even better. Looking back, I think a glass of Sauvignon Blanc alongside the cod would have been the perfect pairing. I finished with the Miso Caramel Milk Bar, which was spectacular. Decadent, sweet, salty, and touched with just enough umami to keep every bite interesting. The chocolate crumble underneath added a wonderful crunch that contrasted beautifully with the creamy ice cream and luscious caramel sauce. Every component worked together perfectly, creating a dessert that was both indulgent and sophisticated. From start to finish, the meal felt polished, thoughtful, and memorable. Thank you!
