I got a confirmation text a few days before, and also confirmed appointment. I arrived early, and she took me in right on time. She asked what I was looking for and I showed her what my old stylist used when I was back in Sac. Meco, was great! So personable and very easy to talk to. The salon was very busy being a Saturday. This was my first time in awhile going to a salon. We have been so busy since we moved here. This just wasn't my first priority. I called the salon and didn't get an answer. Amazingly the young lady called back leaving a message. That was very nice! So, I made an appointment. My stylist was the owner, she was pleasant, kind and took into all my considerations. A cut and colir to hide the grey. We used 2 shades of color, one for the top and one for the rest. A very subtle contrast, and nice. She had a young lady helping her so they both worked on my hair. She was very sweet and worked hard. They didn't do any of the usual wash out and dry. There are no facilities I can see for that. The color had a low smell, and didn't need to be set with heat or foil used. I was impressed with the cut, simple but nice. When I left I was quite happy with my cut (she did only 2 curls on each side in the front when asked) and color, the price was close to expected, letting the owner do my hair, with a helper was pretty much close to expected. Now, I always wait about a week after a color to wash my hair. Thus allowing for the color to set. This being the first time getting a color without heat, foil, wash and style, I didn't know what to expect in terms of how long the color should last. But, I think it could be less harsh on the hair. I always wait a week to wash after a color. So I did the same with this. I use a good quality shampoo as usual since my hair is fine. My results after a week until the first wash: A very slight hint of grey on top the part where the owner worked. And 1/4 inch + of grey all over the main body of my head. Lifting my hair... grey all over but that small top area. Also on the sides by my ears, I have long grey hairs. The color did not seem to cover those at all after a wash! So, I am not excited with the outcome. I was up front about the grey being my issue. I have never had these results in the past. And my hair doesn't grow fast. It takes years for my hair to get long. This is the reason for my review. I am a busy person, my first impression was, high end salon, ok, high price. However... something never quite felt right. I ignored this. My mistake. read more

Not able to get a haircut in California. I drove up from the Bay Area for a few days to relax. I was able to get in for a haircut. The shop is bright and very clean. They have you use hand sanitizer before entering. Mask are required and my hair dresser Monique was so amazing. She sat with me and talked to me about what I was looking for in a haircut. She took time to make a plan and was so lovely. She taped my mask on and it was easy for her to wash my hair. Everyone is social distancing. I wanted to come back and update this post. I was in the salon last week, and my hair has never been more fabulous! I think Lisa must have magic wand in her pocket that she waves over my head when I'm not looking! She's been doing weaves on my hair for over a year now, and the color is so multidimensional, people are always surprised when I tell them that this is not what mother nature gave me!! I am always so impressed with how well the color holds up and how beautifully my hair grows out. she really listens and when I tell her, I only have five minutes to deal with my hair. She gives me a cut that is really Wash N Go. I've never had that before and when I have more time. Yesterday was my second visit here. I saw Josie. I came here after a TERRIBLE color job at a different salon. I've been driving past Tribe for two years and thinking that it looked like a great place but was seeing a different hairdresser elsewhere The straw that broke the camel's back was a color/highlight that looked like a frickin headband from my former hairdresser. I had my hair done here and the service was excellent! My natural color is a level six, light brown / dark blonde, and I usually lift it a shade lighter for some extra blonde. Today, I needed my balayage retouched. With the fall coming, I wanted to get back to a warmer golden blonde color for my highlights. The color and blending on the balayage turned out perfectly. She did a really great job guiding me through a conversation about my hair goals, and suggested a shorter cut with curtain bangs. I was beyond thrilled with the cut, I usually keep my hair long and just chop it all off once a year but Brooke's cut made me love my hair short! She also suggested some highlights and when I came back for my next appointment, it was a breeze and a wonderful experience and I was once again thrilled. Why have I never written a review for Tribe until now? Ross Robinson is the best!!! Before every haircut, even a trim, we take a look at how my hair currently is and discuss what my hair goals are. It's not always easy for me to describe what my hair needs/dreams are but Ross is patient and great at guiding the process. I'm currently growing out my hair- Ross does such a great job that the awkward growing stage was almost non-existent. I schedule my next appointment at the end of each session so I never have to worry about getting in. The online scheduling app he uses makes it easy to reschedule appointments if necessary. Everyone that I've encountered at the salon have been very nice- it's a good vibe and ambience there. It's not always like that at other salons I've been to. read more

I recently started to see Kat for my normally hair trims and told her about a wedding I was attending in a week and to my surprise she told me she specializes in bridal updo-styling . She was able to get me in a couple of hours before the wedding and wow I was soo happy with the outcome . This is a long overdue review! I am so happy that I found Tribe. I was trying out a new salon near my home, and when I saw how great their reviews were, I had to give them a try! I booked an appointment via phone call, and the gentleman that answered was helpful and polite. I would suggest booking ahead of time, because they were about 3-4 weeks out at the time (which just shows how popular they are.) My appointment was with Maddie, who is the owner's daughter. She was super sweet and guided me through the whole coloring process. To be honest, I didn't know a lot about hair and couldn't even describe what I wanted, but Maddie was patient and helped me choose the right balayage that matched my complexion and style. She had no problem answering my many questions, and took the time to offer products that would make my color last longer. I was very pleased with the results! First off I would like to say Thank You Tribe Salon for scheduling me in for a last minute hair appointment. I tried several times and got rejected. But thankfully one of the amazing ladies who answered the phone and asked Kat the AMAZING gal who did my hair if she would do my hair on Sunday. Thankfully Kat said YES! When I went in on Sunday at 8, Kat was already there waiting. When I walked in the first impression I got is that it made me feel like I was at home. Kat then sat me down and asked what and how I would like my haircut. I told her what I wanted and she even suggested a little something different because I had very fine hair. Kat then took my to the hair wash station. Kat was gentle with my hair and when she was cutting it and what not she wasn't trying to pull and tug at my hair like a lot of the Salonist does. She is very funny and personable and she does care about the outcome of the hair. Although it may be a little pricey but with the amazing customer service you get it was well worth it. After reading the reviews, I wanted to be impressed with this place, but in this case the expectation over exceeded the actual experience. It just didn't feel like a very welcoming place. I felt very uncomfortable being there. Small talk with customers seemed like a chore or a task they had to do but really didn't want to do. Just not positive vibes coming from this place! But what really got my gears grinding was the fact that I had scheduled and made an appointment to color and cut my hair after having quarantine hair for the last 6 months to find out mid-color that they had overbooked and wouldn't have time to do my actual haircut. THAT'S WHAT I CAME THERE FOR AS THE PRIMARY REASON...CUT MY HAIR! I was in desperate need of a haircut and I was borderline thinking about risking it and cutting my own hair before I had made the appointment. They then told me I had to make another appointment for my hair cut even though I literally took a vacation day from work to get this done. Believe me, I was ticked!
