So it has been a rough year for my hair. Back in Sept 2019, I had asked for a certain color and style. Had the picture and everything. The stylist over processed my hair and it turned out awful. I even said don't make it hot pink, it was hot pink. They tried to correct it but the damage was done. Hair fried! So I went to another stylist and she gave me a great cut and color and we were on a path to fix my hair. Then right before the world shutdown she gave me an awful haircut. I said trim and she cut, weird layers etc. So I took it as a sign, Covid-19, and let my hair rest until yesterday. So I had inches of out growth and in desperate need of a good trim. A friend recommended a couple of salons and I set about researching them last month. I reached out to 3 and out of that 3 one called back Tribe. I played telephone tag with the receptionist, it's me I'm hard to get a hold of. Then I got a hold of Bianca. We talked over text and by the time we scheduled my appointment, I felt very confident with her and the salon. Bianca asked a lot questions and asked for photos of my hair and my goal picture. She explained that it would be easy to do, because I wasn't trying to go from dark to light. So I had to reschedule our initial appointment, car accident! Which was super easy, no hassle. Yesterday, i got beautiful hair back. Bianca took the time to explain everything, she put forth great work, because she cares and the end result is beautiful. From the beginning of the appointment Bianca. made me feel like we were working together. She listened to my concerns and from this she knew I was scared and hesitant about cutting my hair. I even gave her the okay to cut off more, but with grace she said you don't want your hair that short, you just said that and she was right. She said no very gracefully to me sayings ok passively and she was right, too I didn't want my hair that short again. Bianca made sure that the colors would not run together so she foiled my head. She didn't care that it would take longer and she didn't care that it meant more work for her. She did it to create the end result I wanted, which was beautiful healthy hair-on the road too. She also created a plan to cut my hair over time to help me keep the length and overcome the bad haircut from late February. Bianca knocked it our of the park. Look at my before picture and my after pictures. I'm mean seriously this can't be my hair, it's too pretty. Sometimes you gotta go through the bad to get to the good, I am so thankful she picked up the phone that day. If you are looking for a new stylist for whatever reason go to Bianca. Check out Tribe too. The salon was busy, but everyone wore masks the whole time, they kept everyone separate and they cleaned like crazy. It was still fun and relaxing and I loved that they all talked with each other and checked in on each other. They have a great family in their salon, you can see it but you feel it more. This salon is in a great location with lots of parking space! I started coming here last year, to see Megan. She's so sweet and super talented! There are many other stylists in this salon that are all so friendly and welcoming. They have the cutest seating area and the space is so open and bright. Prices are slightly higher than what I'm used to paying, but it's so worth it! You can go to other places that may be cheaper, but you may not get the color you wanted and your hair may not feel as healthy. First experience at tribe, and I have nothing but good things to say. All the staff are so professional and helpful, and making everything as easy as possible during these strange times. My stylist, Madi, is just freshly licensed, and I can already tell she's going to go so far in this industry! She was very attentive to all my my styling wants and ideas, and did a way better job picking out the perfect color than I ever could have done on my own. Give up a little control and let your stylists pick out what they think is best for you! You may be pleasantly surprised. I went to tribe for a cut and balayage, and my stylist Lexi did not disappoint . She takes her time and listens to what your wants are. My hair turned out so good I have no complaints people that have already seen. It has told me that they love it. I wanted to go with something that was a little lighter than my hair, but still look natural and it literally looks like it is my hair . I've come to tribe before to get my haircut, but never a color and now I will be sticking with Lexi for my styling and color needs. My husband and I had the greatest experience at Tribe Salon yesterday. With one day's notice, they accommodated my request for appointments. Cynthia was our stylist and did a fantastic job with both of us. She colored (red/auburn) and trimmed my challenged, thin hair into a really cute style. I'm thrilled with it. She cut my husband's hair - who is typically quite particular, and he is pleased with it as well. She is also a pleasure to visit with during the process. It was a great experience all-around. About the salon itself... it's cute and welcoming. They appeared to be following COVID rules -- everything is very clean and I witnessed stylists cleaning and sanitizing between clients. You need to wait outside until your stylist is ready for you (I believe that is a regulation as well). Speaking of welcoming, I do not recall the receptionist's name, but she was delightful and so helpful when I booked our appointments. She is a great first impression. Had my hair cut yesterday by Brooke. She really did try, but honestly, either she's fresh out of school or , I don't know what, but my hair is soooo unbelievably chopped up. I've never had such an awful haircut nor paid so much for one. My bangs are two different lengths ...like an inch and a half different from one side to the other ...and the rest of my hair looks like she used a meat cleaver on it. Finally got my hair done and it was much needed. Got my hair done by Bianca and it looks and feels great and she's also super sweet. I could talk to her for hours. The studio is very nice inside and they use great smelling and nice products. I even bought some of it. They use R+CO and Oribe. Definitely going to keep coming here. read more

Horrible haircut. Went to a walk in place the next day to fix the cut and had a better experience and cut for less than half the money.

Paid over $100 for them to really not do anything. Barely curled my hair. Showed an inspo pic and definitely did not get that. I could have done this at home for free tbh. Won't be going again. read more

My hair looks awesome. It was screwed up from a previous cut. Josie shaped my hair. I didn't have to loose any length. It came out better than I could imagine. I've already had several compliments. So after talking with the owner she had told me she would get ahold of her bookkeeper to see what she can do, she told me since it had been past 30 days I couldn't get a refund or partial refund even though she's the owner so she offered to give me a gift card for the salon. I then told her that I was living on the other side of California and I don't see myself coming back anytime soon so I had asked if she would give it to my sister in law or send it but she said she no. She was extremely snarky and was like "best of luck to you" at the end of the conversation. Thankfully my good friend up in Napa saved my hair after I had to cut nearly everything off due to this place. Had this been resolved I would have changed my review as she asked me to. I needed to find a new salon and I saw this place had great reviews, Monique especially stood out to me. So I called and made an appointment the same week. The staff was super friendly and I was so pleased with Monique because she was honest with me and very kind. Since I wasn't too sure what I wanted, she was able to reassure me and recommend I cut off and thin out a little bit more than I originally wanted since I told her my hair felt so heavy. I'm not one to write Yelp reviews, but this review would hopefully help someone. Do NOT go to Brooke. I spent over a year growing out my hair and have been super nervous trying to find a salon to do a SIMPLE lob (long bob) haircut. I had been super excited to get my haircut only to find my LITERAL nightmare come true. My hair is WAY shorter than what I had wanted. When getting to the salon she was friendly, but never bothered to make much conversation with me. She washed my hair like normal, but then blowdried my hair BEFORE cutting it and I have NEVER gotten my hair cut that way. Then as I watched her cut, she ended up OVER-TEXTURIZING my hair and cutting short pieces that "frame the face". They weren't even even. WHO TEXTURIZES A LONG-BOB HAIRCUT?! She did not seem to know what she was doing because she ended up curling my hair (without asking me) after overly cutting it to hide the fact she MAJORLY screwed up. I went home embarrassed and crying because of how awful it looked. The owner did reach out to make things right and I'll give her that she fixed it, but she had an attitude the whole time I was there and was condescending. She made it a point to tell me how she would be taking her time and money from the salon to put in extensions free of charge. Doesn't seem like a very appealing offer when she explains it like they deserve a pat-on-the-back for being so generous for THEIR own mistake. I definitely won't be going back when I would just feel like my being there is not worth their time. ***Make sure you read ALL the negative reviews before coming here because they're all pretty consistent. Ok quick backstory Andrea Hansen has been doing my hair for 6 years and she'll probably be doing it for the rest of my life lol! She's that good! So when she said she was moving to a new salon I didn't even worry since she could move out of town and I'd still see her to do my hair. This is my first time getting my hair done at the new location and I was absolutely stunned at how chic this salon is. It's located near cafe de Thai and rick Shaw sushi. It's easy to find and has convenient parking. When you walk in it's got this urban vintage vibe. Tons of natural light and they have succulents everywhere! And the place is decorated so hip it feels like your in downtown San Francisco! Did I mention that they carry top of the line hair products!? They carry Oribe and R&CO which are the best around! For reals I've been using both brands for years and my hair is super healthy. This place is killer. This place is great. I came in to have my grandmother's hair cut and styled and they handled it like pros. She was so relaxed and chatting with her stylist by the end that she was already talking about coming back the next time she was in town. The overall layout is nice and open and has a relaxed atmosphere. The staff is relaxed and obviously has fun with there clients. My grandmother uses a walker and they were more than able to accommodate her needs. Even when she went up to the wash station, they took extra care to make sure she was fine and comfortable through the whole process. I was very impressed by the staff and her stylist. Now about her stylist, Cera is an amazing stylist and handled my grandmother like they were old friends. I think she'll want him every time she comes in the future. read more

10/5 is how I'm rating my experience. I called first thing when they opened this morning and was fit in on a same day appnt! Monique is amazing at what she does. She asked me questions and took her time, never made me feel dumb and never seemed in a rush to get me out of there. The end result literally had me in tears- tears of joy! Never have I left a hair appnt feeling 100% in love with the cut and/or color and today I'm over the moon with both! I will be seeing her from here on out. Can't thank her enough. I went in to do color and highlights with Bianca. She was really sweet and listened to all of my needs and questions. I told her that I only had a bit of money to work with, to which she quoted me $200 plus $10 each bowl of color she mixed. I was happy with this price because truthfully, it's the only amount of money I had to work with, keeping a tip in mind. Throughout the day she was getting anxious because she had a specific time that she needed to get home, so she only did 3/4 of my hair and we left the bottom layer alone. Multiple times she told me the hair would come out better if I came back, but I made it clear that I don't get payed that much and I don't want to be a regular salon girl. As the night got closer to her leave time, she was getting anxious and I felt bad, but despite a few stylists asking if she wanted help, she refused. I told her I wouldn't mind having it not toned so she could leave and she said no. She ended up staying late, which I'm very thankful for, but I didn't like hearing her talk about how she was going to be late multiple times even though she had been offered ways around it. It made me feel like I was a hassle and somewhat unwelcomed. When she was done, I loved the end product but she said the cost was $330! I felt my stomach sink because I definitely was going to have to cut into savings, and that's definitely not what I was quoted. I counted her mix 5 bowls so it should've only been 250, right? And she didn't do all of my hair so I wouldn't think 3/4 of it would be that expensive. She said that she didn't know that the salon charged for time, which seems like a weird thing to not know. I kinda feel as though I was jipped, or she added the extra cost because she was unhappy about having to stay later. I definitely would have said no to the service if I knew it would be $400 in the end (i don't withhold the tip). Overall, I love the work she did but I wish they were more transparent on the pricing, and didn't make me feel like crap my first time getting professional hair done. read more

I've been going to Monika for about a year now and let me just say... she's AMAZING! She gets me to my hair goals every single time. She's such an honest stylist, I love hearing her input about how a color can/can't suit me. She takes her time as she's such a perfectionist, and that's never a bad thing when you're paying for good hair! Monika never has me feel like I am just a client on her chair- we have never ending conversations and time flies by whenever I'm in the salon, sometimes I wish she'd take a little longer just so we can talk more. ;) I can't recommend Monika enough to all my friends. Booked an appointment with Monique. Drove here for 1.5 hours. When I got there, I was told I was seeing Jeff and Monique was not even in today. I asked who could fix my hair if it didn't go OK with Jeff, who my appointment was not supposed to be with. I was told no one, and that was by the owner's daughter. This salon won't stand behind their own work. To have an appointment with a new staffer who has no Yelp reviews and no photo on their salon website and ask what the backup plan is if either the haircut or color doesn't go OK and be told there would be no remedy is unacceptable. I have a big business meeting early next week, so I needed a guarantee that they would give me an acceptable cut and color. Tribe won't stand behind their own work. It was 2 PM when I got there; they were open many more hours, so they should have easily said that they'd fix my cut or color if it went badly. But they refused to say they would do that when I asked. The owner's daughter said it was between me and Jeff, and that was all they would do. I repeated that my appointment was not supposed to be with Jeff in the first place, which they acknowledged was true, so I wanted someone else to fix it if it didn't turn out OK. My last cut and color was with the owner. I asked to speak with her, but was told she was out of town. I recommend she find someone to sub for her who has business sense next time she leaves town. Not standing by your salon's work is not an acceptable business practice. I was a long time customer but will never go here again. They wasted half my day. Be warned - when Tribe messes up, it's your problem, and they won't stand behind their own work. Worst salon experience ever. read more
