Ok quick backstory Andrea Hansen has been doing my hair for 6 years and she'll probably be doing it for the rest of my life lol! She's that good! So when she said she was moving to a new salon I didn't even worry since she could move out of town and I'd still see her to do my hair. This is my first time getting my hair done at the new location and I was absolutely stunned at how chic this salon is. It's located near cafe de Thai and rick Shaw sushi. It's easy to find and has convenient parking. When you walk in it's got this urban vintage vibe. Tons of natural light and they have succulents everywhere! And the place is decorated so hip it feels like your in downtown San Francisco! Did I mention that they carry top of the line hair products!? They carry Oribe and R&CO which are the best around! For reals I've been using both brands for years and my hair is super healthy. This place is killer. 10/5 is how I'm rating my experience. I called first thing when they opened this morning and was fit in on a same day appnt! Monique is amazing at what she does. She asked me questions and took her time, never made me feel dumb and never seemed in a rush to get me out of there. The end result literally had me in tears- tears of joy! Never have I left a hair appnt feeling 100% in love with the cut and/or color and today I'm over the moon with both! I will be seeing her from here on out. Can't thank her enough. I've been going to Monika for about a year now and let me just say... she's AMAZING! She gets me to my hair goals every single time. She's such an honest stylist, I love hearing her input about how a color can/can't suit me. She takes her time as she's such a perfectionist, and that's never a bad thing when you're paying for good hair! Monika never has me feel like I am just a client on her chair- we have never ending conversations and time flies by whenever I'm in the salon, sometimes I wish she'd take a little longer just so we can talk more. ;) I can't recommend Monika enough to all my friends. Booked an appointment with Monique. Drove here for 1.5 hours. When I got there, I was told I was seeing Jeff and Monique was not even in today. I asked who could fix my hair if it didn't go OK with Jeff, who my appointment was not supposed to be with. I was told no one, and that was by the owner's daughter. This salon won't stand behind their own work. To have an appointment with a new staffer who has no Yelp reviews and no photo on their salon website and ask what the backup plan is if either the haircut or color doesn't go OK and be told there would be no remedy is unacceptable. I have a big business meeting early next week, so I needed a guarantee that they would give me an acceptable cut and color. Tribe won't stand behind their own work. It was 2 PM when I got there; they were open many more hours, so they should have easily said that they'd fix my cut or color if it went badly. But they refused to say they would do that when I asked. The owner's daughter said it was between me and Jeff, and that was all they would do. I repeated that my appointment was not supposed to be with Jeff in the first place, which they acknowledged was true, so I wanted someone else to fix it if it didn't turn out OK. My last cut and color was with the owner. I asked to speak with her, but was told she was out of town. I recommend she find someone to sub for her who has business sense next time she leaves town. Not standing by your salon's work is not an acceptable business practice. I was a long time customer but will never go here again. They wasted half my day. Be warned - when Tribe messes up, it's your problem, and they won't stand behind their own work. Worst salon experience ever. read more

I called to make an appointment (twice) and they wouldn't book me an appointment because when I gave them my name the computer said "see stylist" but I don't have a hairdresser there. Danielle literally said to me "go somewhere else" * yes my name is Skye MacLachlan but I didn't have back to back appointments in march. I used to see Audrey before she moved and then I saw someone different the last time I was there. I had a lovey time chatting with the assistant and I complemented the hairdresser when she was done. I don't remember who it was I've only seen them once. She gave me purple peekaboo highlights and I loved it. I even left a generous tip. I work in the service industry and would die before being a rude customer. I was either confused with someone else or you are lying to save face. PS. This is the first yelp review I've ever made. I went in to do color and highlights with Bianca. She was really sweet and listened to all of my needs and questions. I told her that I only had a bit of money to work with, to which she quoted me $200 plus $10 each bowl of color she mixed. I was happy with this price because truthfully, it's the only amount of money I had to work with, keeping a tip in mind. Throughout the day she was getting anxious because she had a specific time that she needed to get home, so she only did 3/4 of my hair and we left the bottom layer alone. Multiple times she told me the hair would come out better if I came back, but I made it clear that I don't get payed that much and I don't want to be a regular salon girl. As the night got closer to her leave time, she was getting anxious and I felt bad, but despite a few stylists asking if she wanted help, she refused. I told her I wouldn't mind having it not toned so she could leave and she said no. She ended up staying late, which I'm very thankful for, but I didn't like hearing her talk about how she was going to be late multiple times even though she had been offered ways around it. It made me feel like I was a hassle and somewhat unwelcomed. When she was done, I loved the end product but she said the cost was $330! I felt my stomach sink because I definitely was going to have to cut into savings, and that's definitely not what I was quoted. I counted her mix 5 bowls so it should've only been 250, right? And she didn't do all of my hair so I wouldn't think 3/4 of it would be that expensive. She said that she didn't know that the salon charged for time, which seems like a weird thing to not know. I kinda feel as though I was jipped, or she added the extra cost because she was unhappy about having to stay later. I definitely would have said no to the service if I knew it would be $400 in the end (i don't withhold the tip). Overall, I love the work she did but I wish they were more transparent on the pricing, and didn't make me feel like crap my first time getting professional hair done. read more

I went to Gabby at Tribe Salon for the first time a few weeks ago. When I asked for highlights I ended up with bleach blonde streaks in my medium brown hair. I specifically told her during the rinse that I hadn't died my hair in about 10 years and was terrified of the bleached look, which is when she just went quiet and said..."oh". I knew I was in trouble. It looks absolutely terrible and I will never go to this place again. I wouldn't trust them to fix it. read more

When Kat first did my hair it looked great. Two and half weeks later I've got orange and yellow instead of platinum blonde. I paid $250 for a great haircut and terrible color. I've never had this happen before and I feel that I didn't get what I wanted. Kat made a comment about how she hadn't heard from a previous client and she knew it was nothing she had done- which in that case was true but in my case yes it is something you did and I refuse to go back and have my hair screwed up again. I'm so disappointed and now to go to another hairstylist to fix the color. I'm sorry I ever decided to go to tribe salon and even more upset at paying $250 for a terrible color. I came to Tribe for my stylist, Ross, who I've been with for several years now. He has taken my hair, which was a hassle and a sore spot for me, to something that makes me feel pretty. He really listens to what I want and explains his process before he cuts so we are on the same page. When he is with a client, he really attends to them. I was in a pinch. It was Memorial Day and my only day off since being offered a promotion at work. My hair was red.....very red and my gray roots were starting to show. I needed a more professional look for my new job but want to get away from coloring every 6-8 weeks to cover gray and figure it's about time to try and embrace the gray. I called every salon that showed "open" online and they were all booked for the day. I was at the point I was going to attempt it myself when Josie from Tribe called me back and said Gabby had a cancellation. I live in downtown Reno, had no idea where I was going or how far off an Uber ride it was going to be and I didn't care. I needed to get this red out and I was putting all my trust in them. I got there and Gabby met me at the door, her and Josie looked at my very red hair and formulated a plan. amazing job! everyone that i met was soo sweet, kind, and understanding. i came in with really messed up hair with box dye residue and bleach damage, but they took the time to analyze my hair and make a plan, and i walked out with hair that they wanted to put on their instagram lol!! she also gave my hair a trim, which i was scared for because i don't have much length but she promised she wouldn't cut too much, and she cut it in a way that i can't even tell any is gone, but my dead ends are gone! wonderful experience, highley recommend. i had Kat for my color correction and cut, if you call ask for her ! also i think her name was ella helped with my blowdry and wash and she was super sweet and great too! read more
