Stopped by with some of my friends for a coffee before brunch! The atmosphere was nice, the people were friendly, and the menu was also explained to us! I ordered a Honey Lavender Latte, and I can't lie, it might've been one of the best coffees of my life!! It was super refreshing and the perfect sweetness. The lavender flavor was bright but not too strong, and I think the bee pollen on top was a fun touch. Even as the ice melted in my drink over time, the coffee didn't lose its flavor and I enjoyed every sip til my cup was empty :) GAH I can't wait to go back for more!!

Service was incredible. The young man who helped me was super hospitable and went above and beyond. Since it was my first time, he walked me through the menu, recommended their most popular drink which was the Son of a Sailor and even told me about their protein pastries and donuts. I ended up getting the protein coffee cake and a burrito. The coffee was great, the burrito was stuffed and actually nutritious, and the coffee cake was packed with nutrients too... maybe a little hard to swallow but still tasty overall. Awesome first experience I'll definitely be back

The coffee was very good! I usually don't like coffee too much but their horchata drink was perfectly sweet. The drink did take a lot longer to make than I expected but it's a small shop with minimal staff so it makes sense. Cute interior and small seating area

My family and I were staying at the Hotel del Coronado for the week and we wanted to find a local coffee shop for breakfast. Trident Coffee came highly recommended, but sadly it did not hit the mark for us. We ended up going to Better Buzz the following days for our coffee and breakfast fix. This place is not cheap for a quick brekkie and coffee. I ordered the Daily Rations Cold Brew with Cold Foam ($7.70) and a Breakfast Burrito ($13.95) which came out piping hot. The burrito is not hefty by any means, but this is Coronado and not San Diego proper so I don't hold that against them. Think of it as more of a wrap. My one complaint about the burrito is that the filing is chopped up and coated in sauce so it's just a mushy experience (see picture). I was stoked when I read that it included hash brown, but since it wasn't a whole crispy hash brown, you couldn't tell the hash brown from the egg or the sausage coated in the cheesy sauce. I hate to say it, but it just tasted sloppy. The 2 gentlemen working are passionate about their craft and very friendly. This place is popular with the locals and military community and I respect that. They do offer a military discount for those eligible. Thank you to all who have served and are currently serving. I'm glad I visited and supported a local business, but this place just wasn't for me.

My pittie, Cali, and I popped into this adorable coffee spot on Friday afternoon. I'd just gotten some gelato down the street & Cali was feeling a little left out of treat time, so we were in search of a pup cup! We bopped into Trident Coffee which is one of the cutest coffee shops I've ever seen! Cool nautical looking light fixtures, an Octopus mascot keeping watch over the place & lots of interesting coffee, tea & nibbles options. There are a few chairs inside & few tables/chairs outside as well. The kindest barista ever was so excited to see us, especially Cali, and he made us feel so welcome. He kindly offered her a pup cup and he delightedly gave it to her. Cali loved every aspect of this interaction & I really appreciated how nice he was to my pup. This interaction really warmed my heart so much and I will definitely stop by again the next time I'm in Coronado! Mahalo!

Solid choice for a coffee fix. We tried the salted caramel cold brew and hazelnut latte. I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the cold brew coffee was. Usually I'm not a fan of cold brew because I like my coffee a little more on the creamier side. Very unique flavors. Service was also good. They have military discount as well. We didn't see the sign until after we've already paid. But good to know!

super cool store known for their specialty cold brews! we tried the Honey Lavender Latte and Blackberry Cobbler Latte, and they certainly add enough cream/ flavor that they taste more like lattes, but with the cold brew bases. drinks weren't insanely sweet, definitely recommend if you want to be adventurous!

My friend wanted to go for a birthday run in Coronado. I wanted coffee right after the run which was something I looked forward to as I pushed myself to finish the run LOL. I found this shop with a variety of cold brew options which also included nitro cold brews on the tap! As a coffee drinker, I definitely had to check it out. The location that we went to is located next to some local shops on Orange Ave in "downtown" Coronado. There's a lot of free street parking around the area but could get very hectic and almost impossible to find during holiday season, dinner hours, and weekends. My boyfriend and I wanted to try their cold brew flight, however, they only had 2 sets for the flights which was already taken by another couple. Whaaat sad. Instead, I got their New Orleans Cold Foam, one of the cold brews, annnnd it was kind of sour. It was kind of confusing, giving sweetish taste but with the sourness kept overcoming the coffee bitterness that I was looking for. I personally don't like sour cold brews but that's my own preference. Some people might enjoy them sour, but I don't think they should be sour... However, my friend and boyfriend both liked it though. My boyfriend got their Mexican Mocha, not sweet at all surprisingly! It was quite good, and the aesthetics of the drink were beautiful! Definitely a lot better than the one I got. I was bummed that I couldn't try their cold brew flight but after trying the New Orleans Cold Foam, I was a bit glad that we didn't. Maybe it was a one off day where their cold brew was steeping too long... I definitely will give it another go in the future to try their flight in the future though.

I got the trident cold brew with oat milk and my bf got the turmeric latte with oat milk. Usually i am a fan of sweeter milky coffee drinks but i was pleasantly surprised with my cold brew drink! It was very smooth and didn't taste bitter at all. Normally I add sweetness to my drinks but the cold brew was super refreshing on its own without any sweetness. The turmeric latte was sweet and had a cinnamon taste and my bf loved it as well. Would love to come back the next time I am visiting Coronado!!

Quaint little shop right in the thick of it on Orange Ave in Coronado. Close to the beach, tons of people watching and very walkable. Clean establishment and friendly service.

This is The best coffee I've ever had. I've been drinking coffee for years and can be a little bit of coffee snob sometimes. The moment I tasted their "Daily Rations" on my tongue, I could easily say that is The Finest cold brew I've had. It's very aromatic and exudes a strong bourbon smell, also very smooth and gentle on your tongue with a little creamy texture. Visited for the first time this morning after reading reviews about Trident's cold brews. While the cold brew was fantastic, I was more impressed by the employee that assisted me and my partner. Yesenia was attentive, friendly, and offered impeccable service. She knew the products, recommended what to get, and even followed up after to make sure we're satisfied. This is our go to spot every Sunday. Our favorite coffee shop in San Diego. The staff is super friendly and genuinely enjoys talking with everyone who walks in. I'm allergic to gluten, so the baked goods like their Keto Donuts + Donut Holes are amazing to snag with iced coffee. The coffee is so smooth you can drink it black without any cream / milk although they have great milk options. Definitely try the calm under pressure almond milk latte. Coffee is good. Stopped by on our way off Coronado considering this is a veteran owned coffee spot. The place is small but has a comfortable vibe. The floor gives you an idea what it looks like sailing over dark waters as you look into the ocean. They have a collection of coins on the wall that give an idea where someone has been. We placed our order and paid. We sat down to enjoy our coffee when we realized the guy taking orders asked the guy behind us if he was in the military and gave him a discount. The next couple, he asked the guy again. I realized he didn't ask the female that came in after. He definitely didn't ask me (female, in the military) or my spouse (female). I'm curious if this person assumed only men serve in the military??? Decided to leave. read more

This place is pretty much perfect. Was looking for some good coffee around cornado and I found it at Trident Coffee. Very local, focused on nitro cold brews, and also have gluten free low carb baked goods. Cognitive Mushrooms Coffee with almond milk. Ready for my beach walk! Love the combination of spices and functional mushrooms and that it doesn't come pre-sweetened and I don't get the normal jitters that I get with regular coffee. Me and my friend like to very out new cafés and this was a hit :D We interrogated one of the baristas for their favorites, I think her name was Leslie. Her recommendations were spot on; I loved my Mexican mocha. My friend still went with her usual vanilla latte but said it was yummy too. Meet the Business Owner: Eric J.

Serving as a Naval Officer, Eric Johnson started brewing his own cold brew coffee during his final tour of duty in Iraq. He noticed how coffee and tea act as a bridge between cultural differences. All of the chaos of conflict would pause between him and village elders for a brief moment while enjoying a nice cup of coffee or tea together. Two cultures born a world apart were communicating on so many levels without saying a word- that was it! Eric had found his calling and thus set out to create Trident Coffee Roasters.

I was forced to order a hot coffee (which I never drink - not bad actually) to save time and get back to my business. As I was leaving the customer who had chatted with the barista for 20 minutes and wasted everyone's time got BACK IN LINE! If there are events in the area you need to STAFF ACCORDINGLY. Get your act together, this is an embarrassment to the Bird Rock name.

The only downside of this experience is the parking situation. It's very difficult to find parking within 4 blocks of this location, so be ready for a quick jaunt. Otherwise you'll likely have to pay for parking. That alone could range from $2-15 for 30 minutes, depending on whether you find a meter or have to use a garage.

I love being able to share a laugh and have a conversation with the staff. The staff member responsible for our table was Heider, and he was super attentive, helpful, conversational, and patient. I had a truly disappointing experience at Trident Coffee. The place was not only unkempt, but I also noticed flies buzzing around, which was quite off-putting. The coffee itself was mediocre at best--definitely not worth the trip. To make matters worse, the service was incredibly slow and indifferent. What a COOL spot to stop at on Orange Ave! I love that they offer healthy pastry options like keto donuts AND nitro cold brew from the tap. Had high hopes for the matcha latte and breakfast burrito but unfortunately both were pretty bad in my opinion. Matcha latte- wayyy too sweet. Asked if there is any syrup they said no but the matcha was premade with sugar already. Doesn't taste like high quality matcha, but covered with sugar so you can't taste it. Breakfast burrito was premade and delivered in the morning which is fine. But when they reheat it it was soaked in oil before they put in oven and it's like a deep fried burrito. Can't taste any real eggs. Looks drastically different than the photos posted. Overall a very disappointing experience.

I'll start with the positives: the coffee was pretty average, but the price wasn't too bad. They also have a great selection of breakfast sandwiches and pastries, and the outdoor patio is a nice spot to sit and enjoy your coffee. That being said, I do think there are a few areas where this coffee shop could improve, especially when it comes to customer service. Unfortunately, the atmosphere didn't feel particularly warm or inviting. Several of the employees seemed to simply stare at customers rather than greeting them or offering any assistance. With coffee and dining out becoming more expensive, I think customer service can really make a difference in whether someone chooses to come back. When employees take the time to get to know their regular customers, make recommendations, or simply make you feel welcomed, it adds so much more value to the experience. Overall, Portal has some great food options, a nice patio, and reasonably priced coffee, but I think improving the customer service and creating a more welcoming atmosphere would make a big difference.

I love how every year they pick a theme to go with SDCC. Last year iirc was superheroes and this year's was SpongeBob! FOOD: All the drinks are fantastic!! I love how hearty the coffee is. It was always consistent in quality and quantity. I always debate on getting two drinks every time I come because it is only 4 times a year I get coffee from here. The food is always yummy too! I usually just get a bagel! OVERALL: The highlight of my July and of SDCC in general. They are the real MVPs!

On a good note, the little breakfast sandwich was quite good. The sandwich came with one fried egg, bacon, and cheese. You can choose sausage, too. The hospitality was very good. The young lady who took my order was nice and service was efficient. The sandwich was made to order and came out in a timely manner. They offer some comfortable seating outside. The baristas are super friendly, they were so generous with the pupcup, my little 10 pound pom loved. It was so nice to be able to buy my books and then get a latte and read outside, definitely going to come back for books and bevvys. Also, they had a kiosk where you can buy Pokemon cards which was pretty cute.
