    Vanilla Latte
    Kami H.

Cute coffee shop located across the street from Petco Park. Prices are reasonable for coffee plus they have some pastries as well as hot food items. My vanilla latte had good flavor, but it wasn't as hot as I would have liked so you may want to request it to be extra hot (didn't need to leave lid off or use a sleeve). I wouldn't order the croissant again as it didn't seem fresh. Wasn't terrible, but seemed to be like a day old pastry. The staff was friendly and my order came out quick. There wasn't free wifi available (or I didn't find a sign with a password for the wifi), so this might not be a spot to do remote work.

Came to meet a friend and ordered an iced matcha with oat milk. It was fine, but tasted very lightly of matcha with oat milk being the main ingredient. Drank it anyway. The place is clean and comfortable but not enough to be there more than you need to be. Very grab and go vibes. The service was adequate.

Ordered a latte with whole milk and the 3 sister (matcha lemonade). The latte was bold, full bodied and had a strong roasted bean taste. Yumms. The lemonade was not overly sweet and had a mild matcha flavor. Like the latte more. Not much to talk about service at a coffee shop. Very loud Latino music. Made a good vibe for chilling but not great for talking.

Coffee was great and customer service was excellent, I would recommend to everyone for a quick stop coffee

    Achilles Scramble with chicken sausage

I don't make it down to this Achilles Coffee Roasters location too often as I find legal parking here to be a nightmare, especially on game days but when I do make it down, it is certainly one of my favorite downtown gems. I love that their menu names pay tribute to cities across San Diego and beyond. It always sparks ideas for my next little day trip while I'm sipping one of their 8 delicious latte options (as I am a loyal oat milk latte lady). It's also the perfect spot for anyone who enjoys discovering new coffee blends and figuring out what flavor notes they truly love in their cup with their pour-overs from 12 different regions. The menu items I've had were always yummy and generously portioned. I usually go for the Achilles Scramble with chicken sausage - hearty enough for two to share; and when I'm in the mood for something sweet, the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes hit that craving perfectly without being too sweet. If it weren't for the location forcing you to walk a couple blocks or fight the bus lane and Petco Park parking limitations on game days, I'd make my way over to this location far more often.

Very great side quest with the gang after a morning workout down the street. A lot of depth on the menu for a coffee shop, great food options. I got the mocha latte (I ordered on the fly), and it was good. The Cove bagel (salmon) was absolute gas!!! There are no stars to dock, and I hope if you're considering coming here you do.

In trying new coffee spots on a weekend walk, a friend of mine and I decided to try Achilles. They offer seating inside and outside. There was a great open air feel inside. We tried the cinnamon vanilla latte. It was great, heavy on the cinnamon. I got a jalepeño bagel, and I was asked if I wanted my order to go. My bagel was conveniently cut in half with cream cheese so it wad easy to walk and eat. There was a large party there and they ordered breakfast burritos that looked so good, so I have another reason to return.

Promo offers not accepted online or in store

Poor customer service two visits in a row. Additionally, Promo emails go out, but are not honored online or in the store. At this point I tried to use a bogo offer I have received twice in the last week. The promo code is not accepted online nor in the store, even when I show the email. What a waste of time. When I wanted to look at bagged coffees for gifts, a table was in the way, and an employee told me flatly there is nowhere in this restaurant to move that table. No "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" or anything. I physically couldn't access the bagged coffees. So rude. I won't be back. I drove all the way from Imperial Beach to shop in that store, and was going to continue even without the Bogo. But staff was so rude that I just left. They were similarly rude on my first visit but I thought it would be different this time.

Dropped in while visiting my sister & I must say this spot is a vibe. Lee, who was at the front when I arrived, did a great job at answering and offering some great drink options. They even put me on to some exceptional seasonal flavors. The inside is super chic, but cozy at the same time. I also appreciated their outside seating. If you haven't already drop in & I def look forward to circling back!

The coffee here is soo good & the staff is quick and friendly. Food is good too, Coronado sandwich is my favorite thing to order.

The service and food is 5 stars. Staff is very friendly and location can't be beat. At the end, although it doesn't really matter what I say, but does matter is the line in front of the place that tells you everything .

I've been coming here way too much since I moved to Park 12.. and not only because it's convenient and around the building but because it's actually pretty fire. I've tried the Harbor Island egg sandwich and Coronado lunch sandwich on jalapeño cheddar bread.. both which are extremely delicious!! I've tried several of their coffees as well such as the Aztec, Finest City, and vanilla-cinnamon latte. The service is here is fast and super friendly and welcoming. Shoutout to all the employees!! I'll be seeing you all quite often.

It's tucked into a cute neighborhood near Logan Heights. We came around 9 a.m., and street parking was easy to find. There was already a line when we arrived, but it moved pretty quickly. The baristas were friendly and welcoming, and I thought the prices were really reasonable for San Diego. I ordered the black sesame matcha, and my husband got the Piloncillo. The matcha was creamy, rich, and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. One thing to know if you're ordering matcha or a latte--they only offer oat milk, not almond milk. My husband loved his coffee and said the espresso was smooth, flavorful, and let the coffee shine without being overcomplicated. The shop itself is really cool too. There's an art installation inside, an outdoor patio with additional seating, and I noticed quite a few people picking up bags of espresso beans while we were there. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back.

Also a little bit of a pet peeve when they don't fill a drink all the way up, especially when I didn't adjust ice level.

Artwork is very beautiful and fits the Barrio Logan scene perfectly. I arrived with nobody inside the business minus the workers, you had maybe 2 people outside enjoying the scenery and their drinks. Not greeted upon entering the business just gave me that stare with not asking if I had any questions. I dont recall his name but he was very skinny, curly hair or wavy and i believe he had braces, but not sure if he was having a bad day but something wasn't all there. I ordered 2 drinks, I forget the other but it had cinnamon on top. The drinks were just hand on the counter without saying which drinks is which, so i asked which one is which. Didn't hear me, so i kinda said again and he pointed them out not in a nice or rude way but the approach of how it was handled was not friendly. How can you have Mazapán without the Mazapán crumbles which are very iconic to the drink. I just found it super strange and did not care for it. The cinnamon based drink was good tho, which I'll give them that. Experience could have been better.

Wait outside on the sidewalk (no exterior seating) and someone will come to take you inside. Do not ring the door bell. The theme is to take it slow. Each customer typically waits 20-30 minutes to enter as part of how they do things, even if there is open seating inside. Not sure if they use a timer to space entries but it seems consistent. They take one group in at a time. Interior: A few tables around the wall and then bar seating. Would not recommend for parties greater than 2, there just isn't the space. They welcome service animals, babies/children and strollers from what I observed. The music was very, very loud. It was difficult to hold a conversation. I did not see a bathroom. Ordering process: After seating you wait for a little bit for them to bring small water cups and a QR menu with a table number and a set of rules. They do not have a physical menu, you must use your phone to order. Cell phone reception was dicey and took a long time to load. They have an interesting concept where you have a digital 'tab' open on their toast website. Unfortunately you must provide your full name, email and phone number. They have pour over drinks (note these can take 15-20 minutes), matcha, Hojicha and others. You may only order one drink per person at a time. They have a small snack menu with rotating foods. They use oat milk only. No substitutions allowed. After mobile ordering, drinks take 20-30 minutes as part of their take it slow vibe. Matcha $8 is from Paru tea and was very good. Hojicha $8 was too milky and didn't have a strong enough flavor. When you are done you walk to the register by the door and wait to be checked out. If they are making a drink you wait until they are finished. I wasn't really a fan. Staff were brusque. Music was too loud to converse.

The same seating arrangement of the bar countertop and tables across from it was available if you wanted to hang out and chill. Five different matcha drinks were offered along with hot and cold coffees and lattes. The top three matcha choices were priced at $8 each. I chose the Ordinary Pleasure which was the first one. Pandan sticky rice milk and mango puree were added to the matcha and topped with a salted coconut foam. I wasn't a fan of the foam, but the matcha flavor was intense and contrasted by the fruity puree on the bottom of the cup. The baristas were very focused with measuring the exact amounts for each ingredient in the drinks they were preparing. The matcha quality seemed to be very good based on what I tasted so maybe it's why the price was $1 higher than what I have tried elsewhere.

When this was mentioned I felt like it would be a good pairing because the Thai coffees that I am used to having are typically on the strong side. I also heard from another customer that the Thai coffee had a slight mocha taste to it which I thought was interesting. I'm indifferent to powdered taro milk teas, although this one in particular, I did not enjoy. It was thick and sludgy, with an undertone of medicine reminding me of pepto bismol. The color was lovely, but not the taste. I wouldn't order this particular drink again. The drink I chose was medium size and it was only $5.38 (or 5.83, I can't remember & I don't think I got a receipt) ish which I can appreciate! The prices are pretty good (coffee and milk teas) and they also have smoothies (which can be on the more expensive side $9-12). Water cup is free upon request. They also have only a handful of seatings, but it's a nice area to walk around. The baristas are kind and efficient, and they remember my dogs which of course wins me over instantly. The location itself is super convenient: easily walkable, a fair amount of street parking, and easy access right off the highway. I also really appreciate that they have lots of outdoor seating and offer pup cups, so I feel comfortable stopping by with my dogs. I also love that they have a rewards program via Cash App/phone number/the credit card you use. It's especially convenient that this is all tracked digitally and automatically when you swipe your credit card. For drinks, I've ordered: The Champ (iced): 4/5 A very popular choice. I do enjoy this coffee and the honey flavor is lovely, but the cinnamon can be a bit strong for me. They use powdered cinnamon over the top, which from a texture standpoint isn't my favorite. I do find the cinnamon is less overpowering when this drink is ordered hot instead of iced. Salted Maple Latte (iced): 5/5 This is my go-to. Delicious, strong coffee without being bitter and very well balanced overall. The maple flavor doesn't jump out in an obvious way, but adds a subtle sweetness that isn't overly sweet or sharp. Interestingly, I think the 16oz is better balanced than the 12oz in terms of coffee/milk/maple ratios. Pumpkin Spiced Latte (hot): 3/5 I'm not the biggest pumpkin spice latte fan, so I wasn't expecting to love this. It does have a clear pumpkin spice flavor, but the texture coats the mouth a bit more than I prefer (likely from the pumpkin), which is part of why this isn't my favorite. For food, I've ordered: Vegan Donuts: 5/5 I thought these used to be made by a sister company of Dark Horse, but I believe they're now sourced from Nomad Donuts. They usually have 1-2 rotating flavors each day, and since the main difference is the glaze on top, you really can't go wrong with any flavor you get. The texture is closer to a cake donut. Super tasty and not too sweet. Almond Cake: 5/5 Delicious and decadent. Very light, sweet, and crumbly. This isn't something I'd get regularly since it's just a bit too sweet for me without feeling like dessert, but it's undeniably tasty. To summarize, this is a consistently solid location with great service, excellent drinks, and small bites that pair perfectly with your favorite cup of joe. This is my go-to neighborhood coffee stop.

We found parking on the street, no paying needed. They also have a bathroom, which is nice, but most people don't ask for the key (since it's essentially open, only locked when in use). The door is frosted and you can see the outline of someone as they stand near it. I think it could be a little more frosty! There were a lot of workers the day I went and they were nice. The prices were good for specialty lattes and the guy informed us that both sizes use the same amount of shots (2), the only difference is quantity of milk! I got a classic, $6, 12 oz Iced Salted Maple (S'Maple) Latte. It was good, but I wouldn't mind if the salted maple was more flavorful. It's quite subtle! The outdoor space is really great for meet ups with large groups of family/friends/work. I think this location is really lovely and would recommend people to come check it out!
