We're familiar with The Henry and have been to a few different locations in different states, but this was our first time visiting this one. The restaurant was big, beautiful, and had a really nice atmosphere! The food was just as good as we remembered. I honestly don't remember everything we ordered, but I do remember that we enjoyed it! Our service was also great, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. The only downside was parking--it was a little tough to find a spot, but I guess that's to be expected in this area. Definitely make a reservation! There was already a wait when we arrived, but thankfully we had reservations and were able to get seated without the hassle. I would have given this place a 5 but I couldn't do it bc the hostess is negligent, can't tell who's next in line and seats people however she pleases. This hostess, a young woman with brownish hair wearing cowboy boots this day told me the wait is 40m. I was fine with that. I was texted that my table was ready only 15m later. When I walked back to the restaurant, a couple with a big dog with no reservations got seated quickly. The hostess proceeded to ignore me and helped the person who was standing behind me. Either the hostess is partly blind or shes terrible at her job. Also, when I left, an elderly woman was putting her walker to the side, but sorta blocked the entrance. This rude hostess couldn't wait for the elderly woman to push her walker aside and just walked straight through with no regards to elderly folks. She could have done the polite thing, waiting until the old woman was done. That's just bad manners. That really bothers me. The inside of this place is very nice and the theme is fun and classy. My server was excellent. He was attentive and even cared for my dogs. I love that this place allow dogs inside and outside at the patio. This place is very spacious. The seats outside at the patio, however, was tight. Its very crowded. The neat thing is they have a bakery you can order from and sit at one of the patio tables thats in the scorching sun. I ordered their henry house salad. That's a nice salad. I also got a wagyu burger protein style. I chose coleslaw with it. The coleslaw was very delicious. I think the burger can use a little bit more flavor but still a fantastic burger. Id like to try other things next time. We enjoyed the open kitchen, the high ceilings, the breeze and the comfort! We didn't have reservations and it was Mother's Day weekend so we expected to wait and I'm glad we did. The Henry is a great brunch spot in Coronado! While I don't come down to this area often because of how overwhelming the large tourist presence can be, it can be nice to visit during the off season. Reservations are a must. This place is crowded and even with a reservation, we had to wait a little bit for our table to be available. They have both breakfast and lunch options so you can have a true brunch with something for everyone! I lean towards lunch so I got the turkey club and it was great. First time trying The Henry. Heard a lot about it and was excited to finally go. Located in the heart of Coronado is where you'll find it. As we got there we were greeted by the hostess outside who didnt seem very thrilled to be there that night. Rather than a warm welcome, it was a blank stare with a robotic welcome. We were seated promptly however in a comfortable booth. The interior design of the restaurant was beautiful and the fact that they had large glass walls to the kitchen allowing the guest to see the chefs at work was great. The server greeted me shortly after sitting down and was very kind. He did a great job of explaining everything was quick to take my drink and appetizer order. I ordered the pretzel bites and wontons. They came our at a reasonable time and I really enjoyed them. Great taste and good portion. I then ordered my main which wad the braised beef with mashed potatoes. It should be noted that the menu is very limited. It as well came out at a reasonable time. This is when service took a nose dive right to the ground. I never saw the server again. No drink refills and no check-up to see how everything was. The braised beef dish was a big let down unfortunately. The cut they used had a lot of inedible fat in it which I pushed off the the side. The seasoning as well was underwhelming sadly. After finishing my dish, I was ready to get the bill and go, but again the server was nowhere to be found. It seemed as though all the servers were running around and I saw the managers going from table to table apologizing. I was able to flag one down and request the bill which they provided quickly. They did apologize for the wait and offered a dessert on the house. I respectfully declined as i had no time. Overall it was nice to experience The Henry, but not sure I'd return. Four of us popped in with a reservation for a high top on the patio 5/25/26. Sam Fox restaurants aren't always my go-to, but this location is an 'outlier'. Drink selection plentiful, wonderful ice-cold beer, Prime skirt steak on the salad prepared perfectly, Hot Crispy Chicken Sandwich on point and two Wagyu Burgers that could not have been better - with a toasted bun, always appreciate that extra step. So often places inquire as to the cook temp on beef and miss the mark, not here. Both burgers had different temp requests, and the kitchen nailed it. Better late than never- this review is solely for the pre-fixe menu offered at the Henry on Valentine's Day 2026. The Henry has been a staple in Coronado for a while and this is the first time we've tried it. It didn't disappoint! The vibes were high on Valentine's Day & although we had to wait a little longer than expected with reservations, it didn't kill the mood. All staff members were smiling and were nice. Our waiter was equally as nice & helpful with our menu questions. The Henry offered a 3 course pre-fix menu priced at $85 a person which is a great deal since other restaurants were offering the same for $100+ a person. Their menu offered a lot of the faves from their regular menu per our waiter. Even if it was a pre-fixe menu, there were a lot choices! Felt like their entire menu was on there, which was appreciated. It was lively out in the patio, but not annoyingly so. Wasn't as "romantic" as I expected, maybe cause there were a couple of TVs to the side of us. First dishes we tried were: Smoked Salmon & Caviar 5/5 Perfect app to start with, very shareable. Also had the Short Rib Potstickers and those were perfect as well! The sauce was the difference. Main dishes we tried were the Braised Short Rib & the Chateau Filet "Oscar Style" [Additional $20]. The Braised short Rib's sauce (kind of like the pot stickers) were really good. That's what set this Short Rib apart from the other ones I've tried. I didn't get tired of it while the mushrooms were such a happy surprise (cause I didnt read the menu) lol The Filet was good in it's own right. Kinda weird how they cut it though. The cuts were not proportioned at all. Not sure if that was a technique, but it just looked weird. Cooked medium-ish. The center was a little undercooked, but everything else was fine. For dessert, we chose the lemon olive oil cake - ah this one was soooo stinking good, I finished it all! That's surprising because the dessert was a full on dish. Thought we'd only get a portion since it was a 3 course meal, but nope, it was a full dessert. After checking out of our hotel we decided to go outside the resort to have breakfast. We came to the Henry at 9:30 and there was a long wait already. They told us one hour wait so we agreed. Came back at 10:30 still no table for us. At this point we had no choice but to wait cause every other restaurant around the area there was a wait to be seated. Finally at 11:30am we were seated. Took another twenty minutes until our waitress took our order. She was very friendly and nice. No issues there. 12:30 pm we got our food in front of us. WOW three hours after we walked in here. Our kids were tired and hungry and very uncomfortable but somehow we made it through lunch at this point lol. The food was good some items better than others. The breakfast bowls were delicious but the smoked salmon bagel was not as good as I expected. Very sloppy made everything was falling off the bagel. My boys got the breakfast burrito and enjoyed it much. Overall a really nice restaurant to eat at. The ambiance is cute some coastal vibes .... Seared Ahi Chop Salad 7/10 Honestly, it was a good healthy option, but I wasn't too much of a fan of how that ahi tuna went with everything else. I asked for dressing on the side and I'm glad they delivered on that it was a nice combination overall but just not something I would personally go for again. Also if you do get this, I would not recommend taking leftovers because they ahi tuna was not the same the next day. Husband got the Braised Short Rib Braised Short Rib and it was 11 / 10 The bourbon caramel sauce with the mushrooms was a really great combination. He also asked to swap out the smashed potatoes for the Crispy Japanese sweet potato and it was a phenomenal decision. Overall, what a beautiful dish! The meat was cooked perfectly and the flavor was Superior! Honestly, even those Japanese sweet potatoes (12/10) on their own work unbelievable! Two of our friends both got the All American Burger with fries on the side and they loved them! Molten Butter Cake (10/10) with warm caramel, pretzel toffee, vanilla gelato What a beautiful dessert! This is our 4th visit to this restaurant. All of our visits were excellent; I realized that it's time to share our experience with The Henry's. I ordered their classic hamburger, it was really delicious and it tasted like a wagyu. We ordered different kinds of meals that really savor our taste buds. The drinks we ordered were all great. I ordered a strawberry margarita it is so good and so refreshing. About the ambiance, people were friendly and polite. Our server was so attentive to our needs. She's very friendly, courteous and polite (I forgot to get her name.) She's an excellent asset to The Henry's. The price was reasonable and it's worth it. This place was packed even after The Thanksgiving Day. A 100% recommendation to our San Diego tourists. To The Henry, keep it up! read more

The Henry was 10/10. Food was fresh and delicious; I had avocado toast with two over medium fried eggs and bacon plus fresh squeezed OJ. Then I took the fruit danish and a hazelnut latte to go. Popular upscale contemporary Californian restaurant prized for roofed and heated outdoor seating along the Orange Ave at the center of downtown Coronado. There was a wait even on a Tuesday, packed with tourists and locals alike. The staff is cheery and friendly, but also extremely busy. While the menu features standard American fare, it also has health conscious dishes and Asian fare like the Korean steak bowl and varieties of pressed sushi. Since it's our first time, we hedged our bet and order two safe "American" dishes: burger and crab cake, and two non-traditional: Korean steak bowl and pressed kanpachi sushi. Unfortunately, it was disappointment on all fronts. The burger with fries (erroneously served as we requested for side salad not fries) and crab cake are so standard and boring that they don't justify their price tag even for the location. The Korean bowl has a beautiful steak cooked perfectly but sat on what I can only describe as airplane fried rice...soggy with bland and overcooked cheap vegetables and eggs that seems to have been cooked separately and just mixed in afterwards. "Sushi", if I can even call it that, was even worse. The vinegar rice is somehow both soggy with too much vinegar and undercooked at the same time...most conveyer belt sushi has better rice than this. I can barely taste the kanpachi because it was covered by too much mediocre garlic chilly oil and mayo. Maybe stay off of Jamie Oliver's Asian recipe and instead learn from Uncle Roger fried rice cooking basics videos. Overall, 5 stars for ambiance, service and location, 2 stars for the food. read more
