Lots of parking and located inside the 88 Ranch Market. First thing before browsing go to the cashier and pick up a number to get service. The place looks nice they two ceiling fans music playing on the right Beats Speakers some time Filipino music today pop music. My favorite Turon its like eggroll but sweet with plantains jackfruit and coated with brownsugar or caramel. Halo-halo another favorite of mine but its not for everyone. Its shaved ice with all kinds of yummy like red beans, ube ice cream and milk. Halo halo means mix mix so get ready to mix. Hot pandesal hmmmm if you get there right when they come out the oven. I was staying with family nearby and saw that there was a Filipino bakery along the way. I got their ube bread ($5.75), saipin saipin, and kusinta, and large tray of ensaymada to share. Ube bread was dry (bread part) but the ensaymada was moist and had plenty of butter, sugar, and grated cheese on top. The staff is nice. Located inside 88 Ranch grocery store. read more

As a Filipina, I hate to give a negative review on a Filipino restaurant, but man, I was so disappointed in their Crispy Pata. The price was fair at $20ish which is to be expected, but it was way overcooked with hard inedible pieces. When I got home I removed the meat from the bone so my family could enjoy it easily. There was 85% fat/skin and 15% meat. I included a picture. Not worth the $20 overall. 2 stars for the sauce, pricing, and service which was middle tier. read more

Bicol Express: this take did not have the usual coconut milk, but was still savory and flavorful and had plenty of tender pork, 4/5 stars. Mechado: a tomato, garlic sauce that pairs well with the tender beef, 4/5 stars. When you serve luscious food, you'll get a loyal following. It gets busy here and you'll need to grab a numbered ticket in order to get service. Thursday, 3-28-2024: Remembering my mom, who is dearly missed. I had to make a quick stop here on my way home from work. Their mocha cake tastes just like the mocha roll she used to make. It's incredible that certain foods can evoke such fond & precious memories. It's very clean & bright, as always. The ladies who work here are always smiling & so hospitable. I went last Monday to get some goodies. I came around lunchtime and while checking the displays, i heard a very loud music coming from the inside. It was so loud and full of cuss words. Went in at 5:45pm to buy something. The registers were already closed. The ladies were nice, but lying about what time you close ticks me off. The doors were open, and I was not the only one shopping in there. Just wasted my time (and the others that were shopping) not telling me right away the registers were closed. Southern California is full of time wasters. You're supposed to close at 6:00pm. Apparently, you don't want to take care of your customers out of a genuine desire to want to. Common in Southern California - for that, Southern California gets an F. Everyone's so damn eager to get out early, instead of being integrous with their word, and not being full of BS. There are the extremely rare places/ people that honor their word, and have integrity and actually have care and respect for the fellow humans they deal with. This is not one of them. read more

I'm giving this Trining's Filipino restaurant 5 stars for excellent customer service. The woman who helped me out the last 2 times I was there was so warm and friendly, which made my visit a pleasure each time. I also love their kare-kare, a beef stew made with peanut sauce, dipped in shrimp fry, and eaten with rice. If you're a newbie, this particular dish often has beef tripe, which has an acquired taste and texture, fyi. I also enjoy their sesame balls (buchi), Filipino donuts (bicho-bicho) when available, and eggplant omelet (tortang talong) with ketchup. Though this tiny restaurant doesn't have a huge variety like the large restaurant near Redhawk, i prefer to come here because of the welcoming and homey vibe. Hospitality means a lot to me. (Many workers at the large Filipino restaurant & grocery store near Redhawk seem unhappy and unfriendly, so i don't go as much as I used to). First time with my mom here. She came to try the pandesals which they were out of until 3pm. We tried their longonisa breakfast. Horrible. The rice did not even have two full scoops and was hardly seasoned to be garlic fried rice. The breakfast combo only consisted of 3 pieces of longonisa as well and 2 cooked eggs. All of this for $16!? So absurd and WAY over priced even for this economy. We also ordered tokwat baboy. The baboy only consisted of ALL fat pieces. Disgusting. The only reason I gave 2 stars were for their karioka. That was very fresh and delicious. We bought the Nutella ensymada, but have not tried it yet. Sometimes if I work my tagalog magic, I can get a little perk, haha!! My faves here are definitely the kare kare, sinigang, and the freakin SISIG!!! That stuff is so damn good, but there are only a few places I know of that have and sell decent sisig. It HAS to be made correctly and Trining's has it down pat! It's a special order item though, so you may wanna call ahead to see if they have it and place your order ahead of time. Don't forget the vinegar, mannnnn!! Although the food is great, the place is pretty old and run down. They could definitely use a remodel and a hardcore cleaning. I ate inside once and me being me...looked around as I ate and when I looked up, the vents and ceiling fans obviously looked as though they haven't been cleaned in years!! Don't look up, just don't lol. Better yet, take your food to go. You can also buy various breads and pastries, as well as cakes and other desserts here. I've had some of their bakery items before and they're decent. Best time to come for fresh food is lunch time. That's when they usually put out all the entrées fresh from the kitchen. At the end of the food isle, there was turo-turo to go or eat there in which they have few tables available! They have this system at the front counter, pull your ticket number for your next turn to be serve! Systematic is cool! Been coming to trinings over 10 years now...and let me tell you there food and baked goods are always the best....my favorite food is there kare kare...meat always juicy and sauce has good peanut buttery taste...and i recommend their vegetable lumpia always good and fresh and with the vinegar you cant go wrong...delicious!!!...and on the baked goods i love their turon,buchi buchi(filipino donut) and the ube rolls...their dough is always fresh and fluffy and has a hint of vanilla in it that makes it so good...staff are always friendly and welcoming...my advice is sometimes call ahead for the pastries because they can run out...like i said if you dont want to drive to SD and you live or close to the area come and try Trinings you wont be disappointed...GOOD FOOD!!! read more

Today eating the Filipino food especially the beef Kare Kare reminded me why I never crave for their food. The beef Kare Kare stew was rich and thick, too rich and thick and lack flavor or yumminess. That has always been my impression of their food. Styrofoam container didn't come with a lid so it took forever to take the two layer cellophane off and trying not to spill it. The noodles were pretty good. Not much other ingredients except noodles. The lady that helped me was very generous with my portion and she even tried to scoop some egg plant out of the beef stew into my bowl.
