My dad has been coveting this coffee/tea shop for a while and did not want to go by himself for fear of being perceived as weird. Although when we got there it was clear that this is an excellent place to go to get some work done by yourself or with someone else. The atmosphere is very relaxed. They play soft instrumental music and have impressionist paintings on the walls. It's very clean and they have nice comfy leather chairs plus a study room in the back. We ordered a Moroccan Mint milk tea, latte and two sandwiches. We also sampled the boba which I found to be the perfect consistency, not too rubbery and still chewy. After we paid my dad wanted to switch to the pumpkin spice latte and the barista did it for free even though the switch was extra. The milk tea is obviously very sweet but wasn't too thick. It was made with real mint as opposed to a syrup. The psl was bitter in comparison but had a nice hint of fall flavors, maybe nutmeg and cinnamon, not the typical pumpkin syrup you get at starbucks. The sandwiches were great. Nothing phenomenal but they were a nice hearty addition to the pastry menu, something with a little more substance. First time here, does not look like the photos right now. This place looked really work down and, frankly, sad and a little depressing. The lounge chairs are worn and torn. The menu has fallen off the wall(?) and is just sitting on the floor in front of the register. The place just looked worn down and in serious need of a refurbishment. Not a 4-star appearance by any stretch. Service was neither friendly nor rude, certainly not warm and welcoming. Drinks were good, which is why it earns 3 stars. Went here to read/study and didn't stay too long as the place just wasn't enjoyable to be at. I was disappointed the moment I walked in here and don't plan to return unless they renovate. read more

Trinitea, you're such a great part of this area with your boba tea drinks and nice study environment. Drinks cost around $4 and there are two sizes. Toppings are an extra 50 cents. I think my favorite drink would have to be their Jasmine Milk Green Tea. Their boba is pretty soft and fun to chew. Some of the drinks taste a bit watered down so it can be a hit or miss. There is a large study room that you can reserve for large groups to study together. If nobody is in there and no reservations on the list, you're free to use the room. There are a good amount of tables and sofa chairs here. You can play board games as well. Free wifi means that this is a great place to hang out with friends or study. The service is typically friendly and they do seem to recognize regulars. Your drink arrives promptly as well. Tip: Check in on Yelp for 10% off and keep the stamp card, which by the way, has adorable diglets on it! read more

The only thing that takes away from me giving all five stars is that when we ask for extras, like extra peanut butter on an açaí bowl, it looks like a smear was added, not a dollop. I look forward to coming here for some milk tea if I'm in the area, however, my recent experience was not as expected. The employee who rung me up (his name begins with an M) didn't seem very friendly and I felt rushed. I was the only customer in line and the cafe wasn't even busy. It just seemed like a really slow day for them and the employees were more focused on their homework/cell phones rather than the customer which is why I gave this 2-stars (2.5 if I could). I also told him I had my student ID (for extra 10% discount) and the way he responded seemed rather haste. I can understand if it's busy, but come on, I'm in the only customer in line. Some of the boba in my large milk tea was too hard. I'm not sure what causes this, but it's kinda gross. My large milk tea tasted more like milk, and less like tea. They make it from brewed tea, they say, but they definitely need to make the tea stronger, or use more tea and less milk. I did ask for a strong milk tea, but ended up with a weak tea. Trinitea is clean inside, with comfty choices of places to sit. The staff is pleasant. They have milk teas, coffees, smoothies, and sweets. Drinks made slower than molasses. I've been here a couple of times and I usually order just a brewed iced tea with boba. A lady came in after me , ordered two very complex Thai tea's and her drinks were made before mine. They need to have a system put in place. I am not exaggerating when I say I was waiting 25 minutes for my drink. I was 1 minute away from asking for my refund but they finally picked up my cup. I used to be a barista and still work in the food and service industry and this is unacceptable for any business. Customers that come first should be served first. Upon just moving from the Bay Area, I wanted to try my first boba place in SD area and found this place! I usually stick to the safe jasmine milk tea with honey boba but decided I should try something else. I asked the cashier and she suggested the almond green milk tea and I added honey boba... Ever since then I've been addicted!! I come once every week after my school week ends at Grossmont! They have this nice punch card so that you can get a free drink also! The place is big with plenty of chairs and tables and I've even seen people study here because of their free wifi! I definitely recommend this place to any boba addicts and will make this my go to study home... I was very excited a tapioca tea place opened up near where I work. I am a huge milk tea fan, and so far everything I have tried has been great. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. I am always very indecisive (because I want to try everything), but the staff are very willing to help in my decision making process. Trinitea tea is a great place to go to study or meet with friends. They have plenty of tables, space, wifi and board games. They also have a large selection of pastries and sweets to choose from that look very tasty. The only thing that they are missing is some savory snacks or food. The three times I came here to get some work done I found myself leaving early because my stomach needed food. (I can not handle pastries after a sweet boba drink). Overall this is definitely one of my new favorite stops in La Mesa to study and get some tasty milk tea. read more

What what?! East County boba? Count me in. I was looking for a place to work on homework. It was a Sunday, and the hottest Sunday in recorded San Diego history. I don't have AC at my house, and my usual coffee shop, Cosmos, was closed. Trinitea Tea had great reviews, free wi-fi, parking and AC -- sold! There is ample parking, and it is close to my house. I went in and sat down in air conditioned bliss. They have tables and comfy armchairs, along with a selection of board games. The girl waiting behind the counter was an adorable early twenties brunette with a Stray Cats tattoo. I had the coconut milk tea with boba, and it was incredibly tasty and refreshing. It was relatively quiet for a coffee shop, and it was a great place to knock out some homework. They have a punch card, and if you check in on Yelp, they have a coupon. I grabbed a cookie and tiramisu for the hubs. I think I may go tomorrow and check out their breakfasts, and do some more homework. While their selection of sandwiches isn't like Cosmos, the ample, free parking makes up for that. This is more of a boba place, like in LA, than a traditional coffee shop, but the girl behind the counter said they have open mic on Mondays. The customer service is superb--I've never been to a boba shop that catered so much to the customers. I ordered two expresso shots and requested extra milk and sugar. The manager was very accomodating and allowed me to specify how much I wanted, without an additional charge. When the drinks are ready, and you're not there for immediate pick-up, they will bring the drink to you. The milk tea and jasmine milk tea I've tried here was better than any of the places around La Jolla (MITea, Tea Garden, Pangea, Infinitea, etc.) because the tea flavor here is more predominant here. The drinks here are of average price. Popcorn chicken and the typical snacks are not available, but there are generic pastries available at a very low price. An amazing, unique perk is there's a conference room which is essentially a closed off study room. Lots of outlets are available in this room! Reservations can be made in advance, or you can walk in and hope nobody else made reservations. It was a pleasant surprise and great place to study at (I came here during finals week). ^_^ I will be back with my friends, even though the drive is pretty far from UCSD. read more

This is the only proper boba place in the area, that's why I've been here a few times. That kiosk at Parkway Plaza is scary and super ghetto, and sometimes those drinks from AZN restaurants just don't feel and taste right. Trinitea has devoted itself to making tea/milk tea and coffee drinks and that makes them legit. Flavor choices are far less than, let's say, TapEx and Tea Station, and sometimes their milk teas preeeettty much taste the same (British Milk Tea/Trinitea Milk Tea/Winter melon) and look the same (they're all brown), but I'm not inclined to complain, really - especially when you get great, friendly service, a chill space to hang out, and, even though I don't use it - free wifi, which is a lovely plus for students (and freeloaders). They also have various kinds of sweet snacks, and I once asked the owner if they'd ever offer savory snacks like popcorn chicken and the like. The strong smell can be off-putting, she said - but I hope they'd grab the opportunity if they ever get the resources and the manpower to make savory snacks. It'll be a big business boon, for sure.
