As much as this place can get the best of people on campus at SDSU and is locally owned, it is quite one of the worst boba places you could go to. I have been to this place multiple times, hosting fundraising events, stopping by with my friends, and not once did i ever enjoy my time, however wanting to give another chance. First off, the service itself is FOREVER, like you will be waiting for your drink for so long, despite long or short lines, they indeed will forget about your drink or mess it up. Not to mention there is a 3.99% charge for credit cards, never seen this before nor do i enjoy an extra fee. Second, the place itself is just not friendly, its heated, it smells, the colors of the place itself is an ugly dark purple, grey, white, it's just not a place that looks pleasing. You can also see all the trash and abandoned items that's spreaded across the entire place. The boba itself is awful, the boba tastes burnt, the drink is watered down, and the price is about $8. Lastly, parking is free in front of the boba place, it's the smallest lot shared with three other spots, the UPS, dominos, and the hawaiian spot. I'd genuinely wish this place either renovates and updates its quality, or gives another place a chance, but this was by far the worst rating I could give. read more

The boba spot is a nice location near the heart of SDSU, however, my experience was not the greatest. The service was really slow, my girlfriend and I waited about 30 minutes for our order, which was two mango black teas with boba. Other people who ordered after us got their drinks before us too. Other than the slow service, the drink's flavor was not that spectacular. I'm not sure how the other flavors were but the overall look and appeal of all the items on the menu and the drink I ordered did not seem appetizing. Please note that if you pay with a card, they charge a 3.99% service fee. Because of this, we paid in cash. The only reason I'm not giving a one star is that the server was really respectful and nice after giving our order. He apologized for the lateness and was sincere. read more

Walked to Boba Spot after walking around SDSU and decided to grab a drink. Two of us ordered: -passion fruit green tea with boba~$6.50 -thai milk tea ~$7 -additional credit card charge $0.53 Staff was friendly. However, boba was overly sweet, mushy, and overcooked. Passion fruit green tea flavor was non-existent. Thai milk tea was average. Not a very good spot in my opinion, but being so close to campus, I'm sure a lot of students visit. My twelve friends and I all came to this spot after quite a time of not returning it is now very modern and minimalistic (it was once kawaii) and while the girl was very nice and pleasant to speak to all of my friends whom ordered a beverage did not appreciate their quality. Boba Spot has inherited the space that had been occupied by CREAM which was known for handcrafted ice cream sandwiches. The location of all the eateries at this College Ave address is not ideal for a couple of reasons. First, the shared parking lot is small. Second, the northbound traffic is about to speed around the curve and down the slope. This makes it challenging to slow down and make a right turn into the driveway without having a vehicle riding your back bumper. Several picnic tables were set up in front of the suite. The inside of the shop was compact with the service counter to the left, the ice cream freezers directly in front, and no chairs or tables for seating. The left menu screen displayed the choices of fruit infused teas, milk teas, and drink toppings. The right menu screen listed the smoothies, ice cream flavors, and ice cream toppings. I chose a Mango Jasmine Green Tea with boba added ($5.00 + $0.65). Only one cup size was available. I would say the prices were a tad higher than the competition in the Rolando/SDSU area. As for the product quality, my beverage did not match what you can get at the more well-known chains. The mango flavor was tarter than I was accustomed to while the boba pearls were too chewy. The shop sign contained the word 'premium'. It would be a stretch to use that adjective to describe the bubble tea drinks at Boba Spot. read more

So far, I've ordered the Lychee Rose smoothie and the banana Butterfly Milk Tea, both of which were pretty good. The only thing that was just okay was the popcorn chicken and fries, but the service is always great, plus the location is convenient if you're attending or close to SDSU. read more

For a boba shop, the prices are way too extreme. They are definitely preying on the sdsu student body and their demographics. The boba was not cooked correctly, extremely chewy and sometimes hard in the center, and I got a taro and Thai tea, both of which tasted like water with a hint of food coloring.
