Then he charged me twice what Rosemead did and 4x more for 15 pills. I went back to Rosemead and found the new vet totally competent. He did complete exam, extensive blood work, and found hyperthyroidism. For Keith W. - Before coming to DrAfter Dr. Binford retired I went to another vet I had seen once when Binford was on vacation. He did literally nothing except take 2 unnecessary xrays (told him he had asthma and brought xrays taken just a couple months earlier) and prescribed what Dr. Binford had been giving him for over a year. He did complete exam, extensive blood work, and found hyperthyroidism. For Keith W. - Before coming to Dr. Binford my cat had been misdiagnosed with diabetes. He was tortured with bi-hourly blood draws, insulin injections and diet he hated, for 6 weeks until I could get him to a specialist who determined he never had diabetes, but had been left on Prednisolone too long, which caused symptoms. So, erring on the side of diagnosing a lesser ailment until fully sure, rather than nearly killing him with harsh treatments he didn't need would have been better. Also, we spent over $2500 over those 6 weeks for visits, medication, equipment, etc

He is thorough and tells you all of your options, but is also honest and conservative with treatment recommendations. As a lawyer, I always tell my clients "here's what we can do, here's what I would do." Dr. Joseph does the exact same thing. I trust this man with my pets wholeheartedly. I also have to give massive kudos to his wonderful staff. They genuinely treat your pets like their own and call them babies. This whole team meets your pets where they are, and it is wonderful to watch. Example: when I was checking out, someone's sweet fur baby's ashes got delivered. The wonderful lady at the front desk grabbed the bag and with the utmost respect, excused herself and cuddled the bag to bring it to the back. Dr. Joseph and his staff are also very upfront about pricing, they don't shame you at all for asking about costs, and they just overall adore your pets. There is too much to brag about but this is the top of the line when it comes to vet clinics. They won't just try to sell you anything. If prescriptions are needed they will offer it to you in house for most prescriptions. They are fast and efficient with average prices as most Vets. They definitely care about animals and show it in their empathy towards the animal and the owner.

They took the time to sit down with me, listen, explain, and truly understand what happened from my perspective. What stood out the most is that they weren't defensive, dismissive, or focused on money--they were compassionate and genuinely concerned about Maggie's well-being. They acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, and instead of distancing themselves, they leaned in. They made it clear that they care and are willing to work with me however they can to support Maggie moving forward. In a world where veterinary care can sometimes feel rushed or transactional, I appreciated seeing the human side of their team today. I had a very negative experience at The Colony Animal Clinic and would caution others about their…read morepractices. The staff is more focused on upselling (overpriced) services rather than the well-being of pets. After contacting the clinic about my dog that was experiencing occasional vomiting and decreased appetite, they attempted to pressure me into several procedures that were not essential to diagnose my pet's condition. The receptionist and a random vet tech cornered me in the lobby insisting if I didn't agree to sedate my dog and consent to a $500 X-ray fee my dog would not get better. After my initial visit, I called to ask for medication to treat my dog's upset stomach and the staff was quick to say "you declined an X-ray so we can't prescribe anything". When I anxiously requested to speak to the vet himself, the receptionist acted defensive and accused me of yelling at her. When I did speak to the vet, he said "I'm not god, I don't know what's wrong with Scout!" This place isn't going to do anything for your pet unless you're prepared to drop $$$$ on unnecessary services. The Colony Animal Clinic preys on and exploits fearful pet owners for financial gain. Do not go here. For a 9lb 3 year old dog I was charged $75 exam fee $237.50 bloodwork $63 fecal test $58 anti nausea shot $40 antacid Had I got the X-ray too the tab would be well over $900 No one even called me with the results of the diagnostics, I had to reach out to them. You're not a customer/patient to them, you're just a paycheck.
