Lots of write ups on the appeal of eating in a bank vault and I'm in that group - Tony Stark's Arc reactor in the dining room (the light the vault door like one anyway) made for nice eye and imagination candy. I thought the food (the onion tart was like a French onion soup without the soup) and service itself (food came out quickly, but my menu had two of the same page and when i pointed this out, it went away to be fixed and never came back ... This is a pretty famous spot due to its history (as you'll see in the other reviews) - there are definitely some excellent photo ops at the entrance with the vault door. Enter on Cedar St, not Broadway, through an unassuming door. Prior to a few nights ago when I dined here with a group from work, I had only been here for happy hour / bar seating. After dinner, I still prefer coming here for HH or just to the bar, as there is pretty good HH pricing on drinks for the area ($7 rose! $10 cocktails! $20 beer bucket!), pretty good food (even beyond HH), and a lot of people dressed up in suit and tie coming right from finance bro-central and ready to socialize - if that's the kind of crowd you're looking to interact with. That said, dinner is also a nice experience: dimly-lit, especially in the back; no-nonsense service; and a good mix of tasteful and tasty (but not memorable) food options. Entrees are in $24-36 range and cocktails are $16 - so on the higher side, but not overly pretentious. I came here with my company to celebrate a work event, so my review my be influenced by the fact that the food, and ate a lot of it, was free. because anything that is free gets an automatic extra tastiness to my evaluation. All that said, I was a little disappointed by the experience. I had the duo of tartares for an appetizer and it was just fine. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, but it was a glorified piece of sushi that I had to assemble myself. The duck leg confit risotto was the entree, which was delicious as well. the duck was fresh and succulent, like I went to Central Park's duck pond and took a big bite out of one of those buggers. I can't say the same for the spinach, broccolini, and home fries sides because those portions were small and they lacked flavor. For these sides, I was grateful that my company was paying for it. (That also allowed me to order a second round of those sides, just to see if my initial assessment was correct. It was.) For dessert, I ordered the truffles and the NY cheesecake. Normally, I wouldn't order 2 desserts, but eff my company, right? I'm going to retire soon anyway. The truffles were very powerful in taste, but they were serves in a little cup, so the presentation was lacking. The cheesecake was flavorful, but it is a small round piece, the kind you buy at a bakery/pastry shop, not a cake store. In retrospect, my biggest regret about all the food is that I wish the portions were bigger. That's ironic, considering that wish is usually voiced by my girlfriend or my mistress at night when we're getting frisky. Speaking of which, I don't remember which drinks I tried, but they were good. I don't think they were alcoholic enough though because none of my coworkers wanted to come to my place for a nightcap. It's trendy without being too loud/obnoxious, and a great place to have lunch and actually hear the conversation. The drinks are great (the mock tails not so much), and food was up to caliber as well. Really enjoyed their house turkey burger- very fresh and tasted of high quality ingredients. Other dishes in my party included the fettuccine and duck confit- both also apparently delicious. For dessert, definitely try the bread pudding with a side order of a cappuccino - moist with great flavor. This is probably fine as a bar to come to for happy hour after work but as a restaurant, it's mediocre at best. I came on a Monday night and waited 20 min for someone to take my drink order. The table next to me gave up waiting at 15 min. I ordered the Lady Lavender and it was fine but couldn't taste the lavender at all so nothing special. I ordered the Trinity Waygu burger and waited another 20 minutes for that. My burger was dry and unseasoned, the salad wilted, and the potatoes soggy. The "former bank vault" décor is about all that distinguishes this place, unfortunately. I really had been looking forward to my meal but I definitely won't be back. read more

We were in New York and wanted to grab dinner somewhere near our hotel. The ambiance here was really nice and service was good. However, the food was subpar, especially the filet. The filet tasted like ground beef and had no flavor. The other dishes were ok but nothing outstanding. The only dish we really enjoyed was the duck confit risotto. Located near Brookfield, this place is quite huge!! When u enter through the vault door, there's a large bar with tables for casual bar food eating. There's a second vault room for more formal eating but you can order bar food there too which was great! Pretzel: came out piping hot! Had a mustard sauce and a cheese sauce. Very yummy! A good quality pretzel Duck confit: delicious! The duck was tender and fall off the bone. It came with risotto that was perfectly cooked, had a good soft chew to it, intensely flavorful in the best way with plenty of soft squash. Large portion too. Trinity WAGYU Burger: you get a selection of cheese, we got blue. The meat was thick and tender. The brioche bun was great! Usually I am not a fan because that kind of bun can overpower the beef but this burger was well balanced. It came with plenty of deep fried potatoes which was nice and crisp and a lightly dressed mixed green salad. Overall it was a great meal! For a high-end restaurant, I just wasn't impressed. The menu options were pretty bland. Nothing really popped out and it didn't seem like they had a signature dish. Because of this, I didn't even order an entrée, I just stuck to appetizers. I tried the duo tartare which was pretty good and was disappointed to hear that they do not have any goat cheese to select from their cheese platter option. The interior design is pretty nice and I think that's why most people come. I went during happy hour and there was a lot of businessman at the bar which I could understand because the drink selection was a lot better than the food selection. One of my favorite bar/restaurants in FIDI! My friends and I usually call this place the vault bar, but it's really called Trinity Place. It's near my old high school and now near work. The last time I was here was for my HS reunion. Food and drinks were great back then and they are still good! I recently went back last Friday for HH and the atmosphere was cozy and festive! I love their decor, but the old bank's vault doors really make the place unique. This time, I just came for drinks and they had Friday drink specials (sangria champagne). There are drink specials every night. Bartenders were quick, friendly, and have great memory. This place does not have to change a thing because what they're doing is working very well. Having lunch in a former bank vault turned out to be so coo!l Thankfully, my girlfriend suggested I walk to the bathroom in the back just to take in the entire place. There is actually another vault in the back! I took pictures. But, on to the food... I had the Wagyu cheeseburger, which was as juicy and delicious as you would expect from wagyu beef. Juices were running down my hand, which is the sign of a great burger. I do wish I had a better toasted bun. The sides were home fries and a salad. They were just OK. And this appetizer here does not disappoint. Served with a side of sourdough and things like pickles, olives and microgreens, this is a must have, whether you're are a Chicken Liver Pate fan or not. The entrees, while solid, lacked the flavor anond richness of the first course. The organic Sal served atop a mixture of potatoes in a sauce was fine, but the fish seemed to be an after thought. Likewise the Chicken Under a Brick was nicely presented, but didnt have flavoring that set it apart from chicken dishes elsewhere. My husband and I had a wonderful time here for his birthday dinner. Another couple joined us, along with their toddler, which was a struggle, but the staff accommodated us very well because I informed them prior to our arrival that we might have a stroller and they reserved a large table for us so that we'd have plenty of space and be out of the way. When we first walked up, I was unsure of how a stroller would actually even make it in the place but they have a mini lift which means that they're wheelchair and stroller accessible. It's nice to see places offer access to people who may need special accommodations. The ladies at the host podium were amazing. They made us feel very welcome and not at all a bother. We were able to park my girlfriend's stroller out of the way and put her son in a high chair. I was pregnant at the time so my husband and I were good. Our server was the sweetest. We were one of the last tables seated but we never felt rushed. All of the food was amazing. We were all very happy with our meals. Charcuterie Board - served with a lot of goodies but most items I couldn't eat, like the soft cheeses and cured meats (pretty much everything). I snuck some small tastes here and there but mainly just nibbled on the accoutrements. Clam Chowder - served New England style and very creamy. I loved every bite. Duck Confit w/Risotto - spectacular, with a perfect consistency. I was happy with my choice even if I couldn't taste any of the tartare my friend ordered, which was a bummer. Truffles - very decadent and rich. I think I ate most of them myself. Everyone else had their Steak Tartare, Pork Chops and Brick Chicken. They all enjoyed their dishes. On our way out, we took some cute photos in front of their "vault". It was a nice experience but I would definitely like to visit for a real date night without the kids, both walking and floating in a belly. We'll, maybe the Wagyu Burgers and Pigs in a Blanket are a BIT pretentious but all in all, good food, well prepared and not overpriced like so much in Lower Manhattan. It was pretty cool to learn that it was a bank vault we were sitting in, and they even had the vault doors at the front of the restaurant, which made for some nice pix. I walked into the main lobby and found that the restaurant and bar were located through an old bank vault door. Half way into the meal, the place was packed with people. We shared the cheese board, which was good but they only gave us four slices of bread.
