Also, I've worked as a server and I realize that bartenders work very hard and aren't treated the best so I really try to give them the benefit of the doubt so often. But the bartender who worked tonight (Saturday night) was the biggest asshole I've encountered in a while. My friends and I were in there for a while and my friend was going up to the bar to get our drinks. At one point, I went up to just ask for a glass of tap water. The bar wasn't crowded and I did not interrupt the bartender getting a drink for anyone else. He refused to give me a glass of water saying water was only for "paying costumers". I was really confused because A. My friend had just been ordering and covering the drinks all night on his tab, but I had been drinking and planned to venmo him later, B. I had literally never had this sort of response when asking for a cup of water and C. I know that in nyc, restaurants and bars legally have to give you tap water if you ask so it shouldn't matter even if I wasn't a paying customer. When I responded just being like "what? I don't understand" and trying to explain my friend had been ordering me drinks, the bartender said "oh so you're going to be a princess and get upset now", and "don't be a snowflake". I didn't know anyone even still called anyone a snowflake in 2022, especially in nyc. When my (male) friend intervened because I was, in fact, getting upset at being yelled at, the bartender then did thrust a cup of water at me and said "here princess, We have to pay our water bill but whatever." Landlords are required to pay tenants' water bills in NYC but, again, whatever. Anyway, I guess I'm a snowflake because I left crying and it ruined my night. Just feels like even if I wasn't asking for a very reasonable thing that they are legally obligated to give, I shouldn't be called names? read more

I find mysef on dates in this g.vill area for happy hour quite often. What I haven't found myself on often enough, is afternoon Sunday dates with chicks who are real NY Giants fans, watching the G-Men kick ass on the many tv screens and chuggin cheap pitchers of domestic beer...getting sloppy...all day. Sure, this spot is filled with annoyingly obnoxious young crews. Sure, there are lots of beer being spilled on your back because bro-fives are being dealt out, every 5 minutes. Sure, there are tons of other sports bars in the village to get drunk at for NFL games. But I kinda like the accomodating nature of the staff and it feels less like a meat-market and more of a neighborhood joint to chill. Summation: I like cheap beer, cheap women and the NY Giants. This is our favorite sports bar in NYC. We love Tara (Irish bartender) who remembered us after only spending a casual Saturday there watching football. It's now our go to for all sports! Their food is pretty good too! Highly recommend. read more

Triona's is awesome. It was recently my 21st birthday and I decided to have my birthday party there. Called the place and Mike was extremely helpful - he had the table set up by the time I arrived with a couple of my buddies. The beer here is cheap at $10 a pitcher of Bud Light and the drinks are very reasonably priced for the amount of alc within them. The beer selection on tap isn't bad as well and I've heard they have a great happy hour special here. There are TVs all around the place so if you're looking to catch a game, Triona's is a great place to go. It's also not too far from the W 4 train stop as well as a bunch of food joints (Mamoun's). I honestly thought I had reviewed Triona's before. Not exactly sure how I missed it, but it could have something to do with the cheap drinks here impairing my judgement on more than one occasion. This place is around the corner from Megan U.'s place downtown, and I'm shamed to admit I've been here more than a few times. They do have a dart table and a pool board. The inside is what most people would consider a "dive bar" if you asked them to describe one based on their experience never having gone to one, but from TV shows and movies. I had straight bars, and people know this. I don't mind Triona's as much as some other places, but you still have straight dudes banging on the bathroom door when you're trying to pee and a male bartender was particularly rude to me last time I was here. I can't claim to hate it outright- the drinks are cheap- but this is where you end up, not a destination. read more

Really, really enjoyed this place. We went in around 5:30 or so and there was only a spattering of people there and no music playing, so we could actually carry on a conversation. The bartender turned on the must around 7, but it wasn't too loud. The happy hour specials were great. We all got draft beers for $3 each. The bartender Mike, I believe his name was, was also really friendly and made it a point to introduce himself to us when we ordered. True sports bar where you can actually watch and listen to a game. Not just tv's with Katy Perry blaring through the joint. Cheap drink specials everyday of the week and bartenders greet you by name. It is close to NYU so you will catch that crowd late at night when games are over and music starts. They don't serve food, but you can order in food or grab a cheap burrito next door. Trionas is a very chill dive bar with lots of activities such as darts, pool, and some technological bowling game... i think. They also have Tvs to watch the games and it just an awesome place for get together for a night out on the town. Anyways, it's fun, it's chill, everyone in there is usually nice. I haven't come across any issues with it at all and i've definitely been here numerous times. So far so good Trionas, you get an A in my book. A week before my bf's bday, I contacted about a dozen bars in the area, asking whether they would accommodate us with beer pong tables and whether they had any drink specials. (Too old for this by now? Probs, but whatever makes the boy happy!) Out of this dozen, Triona's was the most accommodating and so we opted for them. As promised, Mike helped us set up two beer pong tables in the back, and was incredibly nice and helpful the entire night. Also as promised, he gave us $10 pitchers and $5 drinks. We stayed for about 5 hours, and our group got a lot larger at the end of the night, so I definitely appreciated everything. Having someone else take care of things and fulfill their promises definitely helps a LOT when planning a whole day of activities for a bday. Feel free to bring your own food in (pizza, cake, anything), and use the super handy cell phone charger in the back. My phone was pretty much D.O.A., so this was SO convenient. My friends and I were looking for a outdoorish kinda bar. We just had a big brunch, and wanted a nice beer to settle it. We stumbled into Triona's, found a nice corner spot by the windows and had a few beers. The bartender (who we later find out is the owner, Triona) was awesome. She played Photo Hunt and sat and talked with us. We popped $20 into the music player. Started off with some Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise. We saw a beer pong table in the back and turned Sunday into a full day of day drinking. Triona actually played beer pong with one of my friends. They ended up running the table. We then switched it up and played some flip cup. I will be returning to this bar. 10-15 Quality Beers from the tap, about 12+ pitchers of Bud Light, and 5 shots = $98. I started off my St. Patty's day gallivanting here and it was a fantastic choice. With the windows open this place is excellent in the summer. The bartenders are all friendly and fun to joke around with. This is a great place to hang if you want to avoid the extreme douchiness of the clientele at places like Off the Wagon and Down the Hatch. Although unlikeables might wander in throughout the night this is a great spot for some casual day drinking and a game or 7 of beer pong. There's a wide array of TV screens so it was the perfect spot to catch the first round of the tournament as well. read more

Pretty solid spot, I came here after a brunch on my buddy's birthday to keep the day going. Can't say much about prices as one of the guys in our group just kept buying those massive bud light towers for us all - I was not opposed to it. We hung out in the side area that's a little separated. I was glad they had darts but it wasn't the best space for them considering how the nearby tables are set up. Looking for a great West Village sports bar? Then Triona's is the right place. The beer selection is excellent, the happy hour goes late (until 8pm I think), and the service is consistently friendly. The TV's are massive and in HD, so it's an ideal bar for watching sports. The place can fill up a quick during the NBA finals or March Madness, so come prepared for standing room. Very laid back dive bar. Walking in, I felt like I was instantly transported to a bar in the Widwest or upstate. Drinks and pitchers were very cheap and the place wasn't crowded at all on a Thursday night. We were there for 4 hours and pretty much the entire time was just my group of friends and one other table of people. What we did like was that they had a phone charging station! It was the number 2 result but had a lot less reviews than Off The Wagon, so I figured it would be more relaxed (plus I've been there before). I had a solid time at Triona's. My beer was five bucks and the selection wasn't too shabby... I mean, I had a choice of IPAs, which is not the most common thing outside of beer bars in New York City. I also had a vodka cranberry, which was fairly strong. We came late on a Thursday night with a fairly large group and everyone easily fit. Two of us were able to snag seats at the bar and watch the last few innings of the Yankees game. Though I'm not the biggest fan of dancing, there was something of a dance floor going on. It looked like there was another room with pool and darts, but I didn't really check that area out. Overall, everything was A-OK, atmospherically, decor-wise, everything. This place gets old really quick. It's tiny, and the "dance floor" is laughable (really no idea how they can justify hiring a laptop DJ). This is where I was when I saw the San Francisco Giants cinche the NL Pennant. An amazing sporting event ending with my best friend and I jumping up and down and spilling beer on each other! Other than that, I'm not sure I would go out of my way to come back to this place. It's a decent sports bar with a fair amount of TVs. The selection of beer is kinda weak. They carry the standard stuff: Blue Moon, Stella, Bud Light, blah blah blah, but nothing really intriguing or exceptional. The staff is nice, and our bartender was friendly and efficient. HOWEVER, the crowd is kinda douchey. Too many sweater boys with collared shirts playing beer pong in the back. Too many bottle blondes who get wasted and scream, i mean talk, in high pitch tones that will make your eardrums bleed. AND to top it off, the DJ was one of those guys who sings along to the track louder than most of the people - if any - in the bar. They don't advertise that they have wifi but they do - just ask for the password - and I was pleasantly surprised to get a pint for $3. Bargain! It's definitely a sports bar though, TVs on blaring soccer all the time. But it was comfy, lots of room, can't complain. read more
