In early April we decided it was time to replace our 26 years old furnace and compressor before the summer heat. The compressor gave up the ghost last summer. Triton Air replaced it with a Lennox 3-ton unit. Quiet and effective. It's a 7 step process: 1. Jack inspected our current system and determined the tonnage needed for our 1600 sqr-ft townhome and quoted a price. Price included labour and equipment. No pressure. He described the work they were to perform and my responsibilities with our HOA and the city of Aliso Viejo. 2. Triton gets a building permit from the city of Aliso Viejo. 3. I performed our HOA's architectural review process to gain approval to install the system. (This step took about a month. Not in Triton's control. Triton called me a couple of times for status.) 4. Emailed approval letter to Triton and scheduled the installation for 3 days later. 5. Installed in one day! This included removing the old system, installing the new, and cleanup. Jose, Gary, and Zack did a great job installing the system. They were friendly and exhibited an eagerness to get the work done quickly. Jose, the lead, answered all our questions. Each had separate responsibilities and worked in parallel to get the job done efficiently.They covered the walking path with canvas to keep our floors and carpet clean. To prepare, before their arrival, I removed some clothes and boxes from the area of the closet they would be moving the furnace out of and then into the attic. 6. A few days later, a HERS inspector certified the efficiency of the system including venting according to California's requirements. 7. A couple days later, after calling them, the Aliso Viejo City Inspector did a quick review of the system, the HERS inspection form, and our existing smoke/CO2 alarms and gave the city's final approval. We did have a minor problem which Jose returned the next day to fix. At the end of the day's installation, we did a walk-thru. We discovered that the new platform the outdoor compressor sits on covered a pop-up sprinkler. The new platform is larger than the original due to a wider, more efficient, compressor. Jose promised to return the next morning to fix it. He did. A minor movement of the platform, while keeping the compressor away from the wall the minimum distance, exposed the sprinkler. In short, I recommend Triton Air highly. So far, after a month, our Lennox system is working perfectly. I don't have the experience to compare other systems but I can unequivocally say Triton Air is a good choice to install whichever system you buy. read more

A few weeks ago I called on Triton Air to service my heater that was blowing cold air. The technician, Long, had a great disposition, was very knowledgeable, and most importantly, was honest and didn't try to work me over! His professionalism and expertise is why I ended up electing the maintenance package for my 27 year-old HVAC unit. **This was Long's suggestion as he was being respectful to the fact that I told him I did not have $10K+ to invest in a new unit at the moment, and he was trying to help me extend the life of a unit that was already way past its normal life expectancy. Fast forward a few weeks...I had to call the Gas Company to come out to check on a dryer that was running, but not producing heat and was emitting a faint gas odor. Coincidentally, at the same time the dryer stopped heating, the HVAC unit also suddenly stopped operating. I thought the two were correlated somehow, perhaps a pilot light/gas issue. So, we had the Gas Company technician check on the furnace, as well. He gave a scathing report about the condition of my furnace, said were were lucky we had survived this long and we were unknowingly exposing ourselves to a silent and sudden death. He claimed the doors on the furnace were not the correct doors for our model. He said that we were at risk of dying from asphyxiation because the doors were not properly sealing the fresh air from the combustible air. I was shocked and very concerned that this wasn't discovered/divulged by Long during his recent service call. So, I immediately called Triton Air for an explanation. The next morning, Long and Jason (Service Manager) came out to evaluate the situation. They were able to confirm that the furnace doors were indeed the proper doors for that unit (it was as simple as them pulling the manual off the unit and showing me the pictures) and they also confirmed that although my furnace is old, it is not a hazard to our health or safety. And guess what? I believe them! As they clearly explained, they are the HVAC experts/professionals/gurus and the technicians from the gas company are simply trained to detect/measure gas levels. I do plan on following up with SoCal Gas to file a complaint. I'm very grateful to Triton Air for their quick response and sense of urgency. They went above and beyond to make sure my family was safe and to reassure us that all was OK. When my old HVAC does finally die on me, I guarantee it will be Triton Air that installs my new unit. read more

This week, 07/05 & /06, Triton Air installed our new HVAC system and new ducting etc. The install went without any issues! There were 3 young men who worked together through the entire install. They were Dan, Caesar and Ken. ALL of them were fabulous. They explained everything they were doing as they did it. If we had any questions, they had no problems explaining anything we asked. They got the job done as quickly as possible. They cleaned up each day when they were done and left nothing behind. But on top of that, before they left they moved our washer and dryer back to the place they belonged.... Which had absolutely nothing to do with the install of our HVAC install. What happened was , about 3 months ago we had our home repiped because of a slab leak. The repipe people needed to move the washer and dryer out of the way so they could get their job done. They were also supposed to put it back where it belonged. On the last day they were at our house, I realized the washer and dryer hadn't been put back where they belonged. I told the two young men that were cleaning up that they were supposed to return them to where they belonged. They looked surprised but did put them back. What I didn't realize was they put them in the wrong place. The washer was where the dryer was supposed to be and the dryer was where the washer belonged. And when I used them the next time, the washer wasn't balanced and started moving out from where it should be. Afterwards I've made a couple of calls to different repair companies to see if they would come and fix that. We also had a couple of other appliances that needed minor repairs. I've discovered that most appliance repairs don't actually repair much of anything.... They told me I needed to call a plumber to replace a water line on our fridge, to call the gas company to repair a minor gas leak... I had had the gas company out, they checked it and told me to call a repair company. Etc etc. so our washer and dryer stayed where they were. The two young who were at my house the 2nd day was Dan and Cesar and they offered to switch the washer and dryer. And they did a great job! They went way above and beyond anything in their job description! And we will be forever grateful to them. I highly recommend using Triton Air for anything that has to do with your HVAC System. Update... Each inspector that came to sign off on the HVAC system was very impressed by the installation. They remarked what a good job was done and nice and clean work. We chose Triton Air because of their Costco affiliation, and even more glad we did after hearing from experts who see these every day. After seeing the reviews and having some previous estimates for our 29 year heater, we decided to do it. From our very first meeting with our estimator John, we were blown away. The top notch service included helping us decide which system would be the most efficient, economical, and environmentally friendly. P John broke everything down and explained what each variation did. Our estimate came in, and we were happy with the choices we made, doing some more research on the air conditioner and furnace. From the beginning, every person from Triton Air was extremely professional. Scheduling installation was quick (we didn't have to wait weeks). They reviewed the contract with us to ensure we understood everything from permits, installation, maintenance, and inspections. We were excited to get our new units. Our old ones served us well and felt confident the Lenox systems Triton Air installed would do the same. From confirmation via email and text, we were kept up to date on arrival time and who would be coming into our home to do the installation. During installation Jose and Marvin worked simultaneously. Jose, out back on the A/C unit and Marvin in the garage where our HVAC is located. They worked cleanly and professionally. They installed new circuit breakers and gas lines, made sure everything was level and above par. They took care and concern when working in the house as well as around our property. They explained what everything was and how it worked, including the new devices and emergency shutoffs if ever needed. They checked and made sure it was all working efficiently (not just on) before they left. And they left a very clean space, better than it was before. Thank you to Jose and his team. I am pleased to acknowledge that Triton made sincere efforts to rectify the situation, responded, and addressed our concerns in a satisfactory manner. Triton provided us with portable ACs units until they sent highly competent technicians who thoroughly examined and efficiently repaired the AC system. I would like to thank the representative who handled our case and mostly the skilled technicians who efficiently rectified the AC system's problems. Their efforts have turned my dissatisfactory experience into a positive one. While my initial interaction with Triton was frustrating, I am relieved that the matter has been resolved to our satisfaction. I hope that, moving forward, Triton will continue to prioritize customer service excellence and respond promptly to any future concerns that may arise. My initial review: TLDR: about $18,000 was spent on a new HVAC and duct system, and still no resolution. I am deeply disappointed and frustrated with the service I have received from Triton. Unfortunately, my experience with this company has been nothing short of dissatisfactory. I have diligently tried to contact the office several times, leaving multiple messages in an attempt to reach the office manager, parts manager, or any individual capable of providing assistance regarding the issues we are currently facing with the recently installed AC system. Regrettably, I have not received a single call or response. While the people answering the phones have been apologetic on behalf of the managers, I have been unable to communicate directly with them. It is disheartening that despite their understanding of the situation, I have not received any answers or a viable resolution. As a result, the AC system remains out of service, causing significant inconvenience and discomfort for my household. I believe that effective communication and timely support are crucial aspects of customer service, and I expected better from Triton. The lack of response and unavailability of management personnel reflect poorly on the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. I had a very disappointing experience with Triton and cannot recommend their services. I purchased an HVAC system from them, which they installed while claiming it would be efficient and quiet. Unfortunately, that was far from the case. The system started malfunctioning recently. When I contacted Triton, they suggested a pressure test to locate the issue. I agreed, and they came to my house, cut the system, pressurized it, and left it that way for several days. After charging me $3,000 for the test, they still couldn't find a leak. Instead, they told me I would need to open the wall to continue searching for the problem, which would cost an additional $5,000. I asked why they hadn't replaced the connections during the initial installation to avoid potential leaks. They had no answers, and the blame-shifting among employees began. Frustrated, I asked them to return the system to its original state and leave. I called a competitor, who immediately suspected the evaporator. Within 20 minutes, they performed a dye test, found the leak, replaced the evaporator, and resolved the issue. The system started working perfectly, with the temperature returning to normal right away. It has been three months now, and everything is still functioning smoothly, confirming that the problem was indeed with the evaporator. The issue with Triton isn't their employees but their company culture. It seems they are incentivized to upsell unnecessary services rather than provide honest, fair solutions. Helping customers appears to be a low priority, while exploiting their lack of HVAC knowledge to maximize profits seems to be the primary goal. Their tactics resemble those of a shady car dealership, prioritizing sales over service. What's even more heartbreaking is that during the COVID-19 lockdown, when they were struggling, I supported their employees by purchasing groceries to help them with their income. This is how Triton repays its community--with questionable practices and poor service. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, avoid Triton. read more

Following Up: Within two days of my Yelp submittal, the Triton Air general manager, Luis, responded with a commitment to rectify my issues with the air duct system. He dispatched his supervisory technician, another Luis, to assess my issues and came away with a confirmation of my concerns and a punch list to solve them. Luis, the supervisory technician was a complete professional. He listened, assessed/verified our issues, provided rational feedback, background and possible solutions or options. He was courteous, respectful with a great positive attitude. He represented himself, his crew, and his company exceptionally well. My takeaway of this experience is that communication is everything, from leadership to the sales staff to the onsite technicians and ultimately, to the customers. For example, inaccessibility is a vague term. My issue was that I'm not receiving sufficient airflow from the vents, especially from the kitchen vents. The salesperson suggested that replacing the air duct system will solve this issue, therefore, relying on her expertise, I paid for this system. The installing technician stated that some areas were in-accessible and not within his scope of work. This was unacceptable. Luis, the supervisory technician assessed the issue and determined that it was accessible and he was able to access the "in-accessible" and installed additional dampers and ducts to solve the problem. This could be easily rectified with a standard operating procedure defining "accessibility", ensuring standard operation for the technicians to meet scope of the contract and customer expectation. In summary, Luis, the GM made good on his commitment to rectify my situation. Luis, the supervisory technician was 100% professional and solved our issues. This system just passed the final city permit inspection and meets my wife's expectation. Bottom line, Triton Air leadership listened and rectified our issues, thereby, exceeding our expectation and earned our gratitude. read more

We were introduced to Triton Air through Costco during shopping for a TV. We needed a new furnace for a more than reasonable amount after comparing competition, we elected to have them install a new furnace. We were completely satisfied. Approximately a year later we elected to have air conditioning added and called them again. They came out right away and did a magnificant job changing out all of the registers as well allowing more efficient air flow. We love our system and would highly recommend Mike, John and all of their people to anyone. We are in the boat brokerage business in Dana Point and periodically have customers who need refrigeration work done on their boats. We had sold a 39 Sea Ray and punctured a hole in the freezer unit while chipping away the ice. I called three marine refrigeration companies and was told by all three that they were non repairable. One company said he could remove the refrigerator (a major ordeal since the refrigerator is bigger than the door) and take it to his shop and give it a try. Or for $1200 plus unknown labor for a new kit he could install it without removing the refrigerator. A customer of ours mentioned to me that Mike, the owner of Triton Air was a personal friend of his and that I should give him a call as he was a boater himself and had repaired many refrigeration units on boats. I said to him, that's a coincidence, we just had a new furnace and air conditioning put in at home in the last year from Triton. I called Mike, the owner of Triton Air and he told me he'd be happy to take a look and see if it could be repaired. End result, for $586 the refrigeration was fixed and has been working efficiently for more than 30 days so far. We see no reason we would have to do anything else unless I am stupid enough to puncture another hole in the refrigeration tube in the freezer while chipping the ice away. Update. Three weeks ago returned from a trip to find out my furnace erratically turning on and off. First, came the visit of Casey and Joey which got it going (see previous review), though due to safety and performance issues recommended re-doing the "Frankenstein" installation the previous contractor had done a few years ago... no kidding, ducts going through structural members (Scott, please send me the picture!), furnace not isolated from floor creating both a fire danger and water damage exposure, possibility of carbon monoxide leaking, and quite a few other code violations... Then came John, their project manager, a rather affable, friendly, and knowledgeable guy who explained the alternatives, provided quotes, and answered all questions. Finally, decided not only to redo some of the duct work but install a new furnace and thermostat. Justin and Scott spent two days at this task. They were very professional, efficient, and courteous -informed me of their progress, issues, and alternatives as they were progressing with the installation. When done they cleaned up all the debris and tested all features. Now, for the best part. The space in the attic was tight and the previous installation was a mess... I have climbed to the attic a few times this weekend and they have created a masterpiece! It not only looks good but performs amazingly! There was not much room to work with, though with new supply and return lines they were able to balance the air flow marvelously! My home is warm and cozy in a fraction of the time as it was with the old unit, and Justin, you were right, I love the Ecobee! By the way, Karyn, Leslie, Brenna, and Brandon also were quite cordial and helpful on the phone.
