A great store for Indian groceries. I have noticed a lot of vegetables and masalas which I did not find in other similar stores. This is like a Walmart of Indian stuff and its competitively priced, definitely a good stop. From pooja articles, to Indian sweets along with pastries like Irish Coffee Cake, honey cake( yumm), bread pudding, rabdi , samosas, mirchi bajji, Gobi Manchurian, dal vadas, and ofcourse the off the stove stuff like dosas, idlis and a whole array of entrees. You simply cannot walk out of the store without stuffing your mouth or some carry-out bags with their food. Service is fast and friendly. The table service and cleanliness is quite good but I do have an issue with the smell at the well concealed huge garbage bin by the door entering the food service area. For me, its a turn off. I hope they do something about it. I am given to understand that the Indian savory snacks are made fresh everyday. And their Irani chai is a must try ( Irani chai in an Indian store! yes, you heard it right, but that's part of historical lesson which I don't seem to recollect) A Indian place worth trying out. read more

Purchased take out food here. It's not very good at all. I'm very surprised how busy this place is as the food is just meh.

Known to be a grocery store with wide variety of Indian food supplies, this place also has a lot of food options - to dine in or take out. This is not your fancy sit down restaurant but their food will make you trade them for any of your fancy favorites. I had the pleasure of trying their Putlam Biryani - not the best photograph but it definitely has the best taste for a biryani I've ever had in North America. Service was great for the type of establishment and the staff is friendly. Our experience was with a takeout so I'd reserve my review of their service and ambiance for next time - which sure is happening soon!! read more

The food is great (idli vada 10/10), the sweets are mid, and the place could be kept cleaner.

I bought Chicken Pottnam Biryani today evening. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the name or expectations. 1. The chicken pieces were extremely hard and chewy. 2. The biryani was overly salty. The chicken texture clearly indicated that the biryani was not fresh and appeared to have been reheated or microwaved multiple times. A family friend suggested this shop after we mentioned the lack of Indian grocers near by. We were thrilled at the prospect that they also have a restaurant. Parking is generous, but the building itself is also humongous. When we entered the carts were all neatly stored inside the entrance. We were immediately greeted by the aromas of the delicious food, but also the fresh produce. The aisles were well stocked. There is an abundance of spices, snacks and flours. My husband was thrilled at finding South Indian snacks by Telugu Foods, but my sister found her treasure- Chala mirchi. You'll also find a bakery where fresh breads and goodies are made. The thing that sets this store apart is also the halal butcher section. Often times, you'll find that many Indian stores do not sell meat. If you are a South Indian this is definitely a go to place. We were not able to try out the restaurant, but will later if we are in the area again for lunch. read more

I'm not sure why I came, but my sister told me about this clean Indian market with amazing snacks and we didn't have any plans so we drove 50 minutes to go to this market (yay, rodeo traffic) to meet up with them. Aside from the fact that it's out of our way - all the way in Katy past Katy Asiatown - it was a pretty decent market! The area still seems to be developing so that would explain the cleanliness. It's fairly large and we were the only people who were not South Asian there - but it was busy! Lots of people going in and out. There were people seated on the outdoor patio because there's a "food court". There's what you see at your typical Indian grocery store (that I've been to): fresh produce (though not very big), your plant based protein (lentils, beans, nuts), rice, snacks, frozen section, prepared foods, spices... We're no allium vegetarians so I'll base my review on that. They have an okay selection. I did find some things but it took a lot of reading through the ingredients. A LOT. They have vegetarian options (look for the green dot on the packaging) but having it vegetarian AND no onion/garlic? Difficult. Plus no hing/asafoetida? Almost impossible. BUT we did find ONE box of samosas and one pack of paratha. I even found some spice mixes. I miss Mother's Spice Mixes that are no onion/garlic but this place doesn't have those. Snacks were a little better, but not by much. I got only 3 bags of snacks. At least my wallet sighed in relief. OH. And there was a pack of gluten free naan that my kid could have! A big plus. The food court serves savory and sweet foods. I even spotted some sweets that I haven't seen before! But things weren't labeled very well. I opted for a gulab jamun cake and a mango cake. Both moist, tasty, and live up to their names. The staff there (or at least the lady) were nice. I asked about the chances of having Jain-friendly savory options and she looked doubtful but said she had to ask the kitchen. I opted out since I was content with my cake. Also: my son with multiple food allergies can't have anything there (or at any other Indian grocery place so far). Whatever he's allergic to is what the products share a facility with if they don't outright contain the allergen itself. I was hoping not to pay for overpriced lentils at Whole Foods to make sure they're not contaminated. A pretty nice visit! I'm not sure if I'd return since I probably passed 5 to 10 (maybe 15??) South Asian grocers on the way over, but it is a solid choice if you're nearby. The cakes were great! My only complaint was more on the other customers. Apparently, there are no lines when in the food court - or at least it was the case for this older couple who pushed past us. The store is well-organized and more extensive than other Indian grocery stores. When in the area, I visit for their sweets, particularly boondiya ladoos and diamond cheese sweets. For regular groceries, I prefer the one in my neighborhood. Although I checked out their groceries, I didn't find any reason to drive a couple of extra miles. I've tried their samosas, dosa, and tea. The samosas were good, but eating there wasn't a great idea due to bugs and crowding. In my opinion, it's not worth it. I'd stick to takeout if needed. Love this place. They have incredible dosas and biryani. The chicken 65 was also great but very spicy. You can order and go shop.

Grocery:well organised,wide variety but pricey as compared to any grocery store on hillcroft Food:Curries and snacks are average,tea is awesome,Don't order Rotis ,they will serve you frozen.Thali had low quantity of rice and curry.It was $12 so not worth ordering frozen roti and little curries.They replaced my roti but they were same. I like there mysore bondas though but they are available after 4. Not many options for kids. I wanted to wait until I tried this place multiple times. If you haven't tried this place you must if you love authentic Indian food. I absolutely love it and am Indian so I know what good Indian food tastes like. It is way better than any Hillcroft restaurant I have tried and I have tried a lot. Also nice to not have to drive 30-40 plus each way to get there. The restaurant is clean and the staff are so nice and welcoming. They even offer you samples of foods and juices and treat you like family. I have had chicken tikka masala, a corn snack dish, dosas, samosas. Everything has been hot, perfect spice level, and very tasty. I hope the quality and service stay the same and do not deteriorate. I really wish they would have the snacks and chaat during the day instead of just 4pm that's the only thing I would ask. Lets support this restaurant so it stays open and we can have good Indian food nearby. Also they have tons of South Indian food which is my favorite! Highly recommend! Market is one of the biggest I have seen as well in the area and has a huge selection. I read some of the negative reviews on google and think this place does not deserve them. read more
