This was so convenient, fast, and healthy! The place was clean and friendly. I ordered the regular bowl - veggies, octopus, ahi, tofu and lots of add-ons. They mixed it up and hand it to you. My L.O. liked their shrimp tempura. It is a bit expensive given that a regular bowl is almost $19. I asked for light sauce. All in all, pretty satisfying. read more

Tropic Poke is a gourmet poke bowl restaurant that is a welcome addition in Ko Olina! Ever since Tropic Poke opened, I try to stop by at least once a week for my poke bowl fix. When you order, you have the option of getting sushi rice / brown rice / salad, a variety of fish and non-meat poke, tasty sides, tempura and spicy Musubi, and sauces and toppings. My favorites so far are spicy ahi, salmon, and tako (octopus) with sides like tamago (egg,) seaweed salad, edamame, and my favorite : creamy crab salad. After trying all of the sauces my favorite combo is the signature shoyu and miso garlic sesame sauces. I find that the fish and food are always fresh, and the service is always outstanding. If you care about recycling, Tropic Poke bowls are always served in biodegradable bowls unlike most poke places that serve their bowls in plastic.) Brand new poke place that just opened up. Everything is so bright and new. [FOOD] The main thing here is POKE BOWLS. You start by picking out the SIZE you want, small or regular which determines how many choices of "fish" you get. Then you select the BASE that you want: rice, spring mix or a mix & match. After that you select your POKE, ADD-ON, SAUCE, and TOPPING. [SERVICE] Workers were great in answering questions and being patient as I made my selections which took a little while as this was my first time here. Will definitely be back again. read more

If you need a fresh poke bowl- come here. Especially if you are staying at any of the Ko Olina hotels. It's not so expensive and you have a few options. You can make your own bowl or try any of their signature bowls. When we went we tried the shrimp tempura . The sauce ONTOP is spicy but it's a good spicy. We also tried the spicy tuna. You can fill up as much as you want. The food becomes filling- so just beware!! Great food, you can sit inside or outside. The fish was not too fishy, not greasy, and was perfect. read more

Quality of the food is great! We walked to the restaurant from our KoOlina hotel. I got a 4-pc Shrimp tempura bowl and my husband got the 2-pc shrimp tempura/ahi poke bowl. Both were super tasty! I don't know how they did it but the tempura shrimp was super soft on the inside and super crunchy on the outside. The ahi theyis never from frozen - and it tasted so fresh! They were about $17 each and one of the least expensive dinner options here at the resort complex. Very happy with our meal! read more

I was determined to get fresh Hawaiian poke and I wasn't disappointed! The portion size was pretty good, and it's great for take out to enjoy on the beach. My husband enjoyed the tempura bowl, which was a good alternative to raw fish. It was pricey but we were pretty satisfied! read more

Stunningly underwhelming. When entering it was bright and clean and had a pretty strait forward menu. It was a California interpretation of a poke bowl...very different than what I was use to but I was still willing to give it a go anyways. I picked out sushi rice (which is always a plus in my books), my 2 pokes: spicy ahi and fresh ahi, cucumber, onion, tomago, pickled ginger and seaweed salad with furikake sprinkled on top. I added 2 tempura shrimps on top and was given a side tempura sauce. The finished bowl came in an environmentally savvy container and looked pretty good. Digging in was a different story. I came in at lunch 1pm and my tempura was cold and had no substantial flavor. The tempura sauce not labeled correctly and should be labeled unagi sauce....and was not great on shrimp tempura. Digging into the rest of the bowl I was apprehensive I paid $17 for this and was completely validated in my feeling. The sushi rice I got was cooked nicely but was not seasoned soooo should not have been labeled as sushi rice, the spicy ahi was a minced and puréed spread, my fresh ahi lacked flavoring, even with the ponzu sauce that it was mixed with and didn't taste very fresh. The cucumbers, tomago, ginger and seaweed salad tasted nice though. I would recommend changing your flavor and cut for the spicy ahi, adding better sauces for your ahi and buying higher quality ahi if you want to stand out. Sushi rice needs to be seasoned (with rice vinegar, salt and sugar) or why bother proudly stating that you have sushi rice. This is Hawaii and our standards are different than California. I would love to try this place out again if you can adapt your poke and rice to our high standards that we have here on the islands. It sounds like such a nice way to get some veggies on while enjoying a beloved dish. read more

My plate with $ 18.80 is this worth that price ？No. There no soy sauce. No Wasabi , to adjust taste. The lady was rude . No hello No smile . She only spoke one word whole time . She asked me which size of bowl ..I was like oh my , she surely didn,t Wana be serving her customer and don,t give a damn. We local know what,s real poke bowl . I'm laughing because the business owner on Yelp is now commenting "fake review" on any poor review. Embarrassing. Dropped my rating to one star. Save your money and get poke at a place that has genuinely good food. As someone who lives on the island and has had out of this world poke - do not waste your time here. Absolutely unacceptable for a business owner to act like this. I originally left a fair review after honestly knowing this poke is not up to standards with the majority of other amazing poke you can get on this island. as far as poke bowls go, i think this one was heads and shoulders better than what was available at the ulu cafe in aulani for the same price or less so if you're looking for the wasabi+sauce+crab+crispy onion thing, this will definitely hit that spot for you; plus the shrimp tempura was pretty good which is always a nice-to-have all that being said, i think it's overall just good and not something i would necessarily go out of my way for, if time didn't permit otherwise worth the walk if you don't want to be disappointed elsewhere (and to me, to waste a meal in hawaii is a cardinal sin) thank you for the poke! until next time :) read more

We stumbled across this place because we pulled into the first plaza we saw before passing out from starvation. At first this place seemed very hipster and a tad bit on the expensive side (sorry, we're used to Foodland for poke haha). Chipotle style where you build your own poke bowls, but they pile it on high! There's so many toppings to choose from and in the end, the huge portions justify the higher prices. Mainland poke through and through - not at all like the rest of the great poke shops in Hawai'i that serve traditional poke. The moment I saw a menu that included additional toppings, I should have ran away. I ordered the spicy ahi poke bowl. Normally, I would be expecting small chunks of semi-marinated fresh ahi on rice with Maui sweet onions, maybe a pinch of limu, and some kukui nut crumbles (the authentic way this dish is served). What I got was two scoops of what looked like ahi from a blender, the most tasteless rice I've ever eaten, white onions, gobs of the slimiest seaweed I've ever had, and cucumber (why on earth would I want cucumber). I gave it a shot and took a bite... it was awful. I spit it out and threw it all away. I am not poke snob, but this was not good and it's certainly NOT authentic. The reviews here have got to be shills or tourists that just don't know any better because no kama'aina would ever give this a decent rating. I am giving two stars because the musubi was decent and there were several other offerings that I didn't try. But if they were anything like that, I'd rather not. Also, the woman behind the counter was nice and also quick. Tourists, please listen: If you want real authentic poke, check out grocery stores like Tamura's or Foodland that have ridiculously good LOCAL poke that doesn't rely on heaps of other fillers to be good. Check out Poke by the Pound, or Maguro in Waikiki... there literally dozens of poke places to choose from that will give you an authentic, great-tasting experience; just don't go here. 14 years living here and I've never had a bad bowl until today. read more

Came to Hawaii looking for fresh, authentic Poke and found it at a little shop in Koolina! I chose salmon and scallops for my protein and got to choose from a variety of veggies and toppings. I wasn't sure which sauce would go well with my bowl but Joseph was very helpful and recommended me the Creamy Spicy. Awesome choice! Fresh fish, generous portions. The usual standard (but large, diverse range of) choices for toppings, sauces, etc. What more do you need/can you ask for from a poke bowl shop. Definite must have in your belly whether you be super hungry or just need some pupus oh yes. Onolicious to the max is my word for this. This review is for the macaron ice cream sandwich, I did not try the poke. I was told the green tea and strawberry flavors were the most popular but the coffee flavor was calling for me. To my surprise, it was REALLY good! This macaron ice cream sandwich wasn't too sweet like other places I've tried in the past. It had a strong coffee flavor, which I liked! The only reason why it's a 4 star instead of a 5 is because I kept getting a brain freeze from how frozen it was. I could've let it sit for a while before eating it, but who could resist eating ice cream when it's in front of you?? If you're in the area, give this macaron ice cream sandwich a try! SKIMPY AND POOR QUALITY. This place is skimpy. Tiny portions of rice, toppings, everything. Barely fills half the bowl. And poor quality fish, skin left on salmon. Avocado is rotting, but $1.50 extra. Ridiculous. You're looking at a $20 bowl. Not worth the price for passing poke. The website photos are misleading, ignore them. Tourists are giving 5 stars. Management needs to retrain & get better quality ingredients. read more

Oh boy. I almost wish I hadnt come here!!! Now every time I get a hankering for poke this place will be etched in my head and its a good 20 min drive on a GOOD day LOL I didnt think it got much better than poke for the people but my GOODNESS this place was good. I ordered the small with fresh ahi and garlic shrimp on a bed of half rice half salad. I basically tossed everything on my bowl with the exception of avocado. It was delicious!! I love the bright bursts the pineapple added. Everything was nice and fresh. I also ordered the tempura shrimp and veggie even though I was skeptical due to them being under a heat lamp. Both items were still crisp and yummy but definitely a bit greasy for my liking. All in all so glad I stopped in. read more

good poke - a bit pricey for a bowl, but it's better than what Disney charges you! came here as it is within walking distance from our resort. there was nobody there when we arrived so we got to take our time picking our bowls. the girl taking care of our order also checked our vaccine cards before we sat down as well. poke was good - we got the salmon to share which was nice and hearty. read more

Loved the poke bowls here. Well balanced and bursting with flavors. A lot of the poke I've tried on the island has been a bit too over-seasoned, but not here... the flavors stay fresh, distinct and delicious. Perfect to change up the menu if staying at Aulani or one of the adjacent resorts. read more

Good stuff, everything is fresh, good portions, and priced fairly. The wasabi and krab salad were a super weird texture though like they over blended/processed. I got the garlic shrimp but it was just plain shrimp there was no garlic to be tasted or seen. They also missed a topping or two I asked for (online order maybe they were out) I got a similar bowl at the ABC store prior not knowing this place existed and that was gross compared to this. The ice cream sandwich was also really good. Def stop here when you need a random quick/healthish meal. read more

Before I landed in Hawaii, I heard from many that Hawaiian poke is the best, and I along with my husband and two kids tasted it for ourselves at Tropic Poke. Located in Ko Olina, this little gem made our day. So delish and healthy. My picky 3 and 5 year olds enjoyed the food too. My daughter kept saying, "this is better than udon! This is my favorite food!" Not only the food is tasty, the staff and the owner are a kind soul. Their grand opening was not too long ago, so there are not many reviews here but I willingly support their business! I hope many people can share the great experience I had here. read more

I feel like the only way this place is open is because of the location. Only fish that was good was the tuna and they up charged for it on top of the $17 a bowl. We got the poki and Terri yaki chicken because we have a baby. Food was palatable but not great. Only customers have to be the tourists from across the street. $6 ice cream tasted like machine through it was super gross. read more

After ten minutes passed, a server past us twice, but we still didn't get any acknowledgement nor any water. So we elected to leave and go to a different seafood place. My family and I are pretty understanding people, and it would have been different if someone came by and said something along the lines of, "sorry guys, we're short staffed and will get your order in a bit," or "I'll be right over to take your order," just some type of acknowledgment. Instead we observed a server walk by us twice, look at us and continue to be on their way. That left a sour taste in our mouth and made us feel like we didn't belong. Second, it appeared as though other people were also waiting to either order, get their check, or their food. But the servers were more focused on the patrons at the bar than those on the table. Overall, we were disappointed by the service and decided to go somewhere else for our family dinner.

I recently hit up Tropic Poke, a spot located in Ko Olina, and to be honest, I wasn't super thrilled with the experience. Now, some folks seemed to have enjoyed their visit, but it just wasn't my jam. First things first, the poke I had wasn't quite up to snuff with the high standards I'm used to from other poke shops on the island. In fact, it was clear that the ingredients were pretty low-quality and not prepared with much care. The sushi rice was warm and flavorless, the crab salad was not fresh, and the spicy ahi lacked any real pizzazz and was all mashed up - not exactly appetizing. On top of that, the portions were teeny-tiny, and the avocado looked like it was going bad. The customer service wasn't anything to write home about. The employees were kind of mean and didn't seem to care about the customers at all. When I asked for some unagi sauce on the side, they said it was too pricey, which was pretty surprising since no other poke shop I've been to has ever turned down a sauce request. Plus, the lady who served me didn't crack a smile or say much of anything. All in all, I wasn't stoked about the experience, especially since it was pretty spendy. To make matters worse, the management at Tropic Poke doesn't seem all that interested in providing top-notch service and grub for their customers. It seems like they're just catering to tourists who are staying at the nearby resort. You can tell from the small portions, subpar ingredients, and misleading website pics. While vacationers might be happy with the chow, folks from around here who know what legit poke is supposed to taste like are sure to be bummed out. I wouldn't recommend eating at Tropic Poke. Instead, I'd say hop in the car and cruise on up to the North Shore to try Poke by the people for a real-deal Hawaii poke bowl. And trust me, I'm not the only one who's had a not-so-great time there - just check out all the negative Yelp reviews! Some folks have even said they got sick after eating there. No bueno. read more

I visited Tropic Poke restaurant last week with my family. I entered, and the restaurant was neat, clean, and bright. I ordered a tempura bowl with three sides which were tamago, corn, and pineapple. When I tried the tempura, it was crispy and delicious. Love it! Especially with the creamy spicy sauce...it went really well with the tempura. I also tried some fresh ahi from my dad's poke bowl and it was really fresh with flavor. It was so good the first time I came to the poke restaurant, that I came again during my vacation in Hawaii. I recommend you to try the seaweed with the sushi rice. Yummy! Another thing you must try is the macaroon ice cream. The strawberry flavor is amazing. Since it was already late, there weren't many options still open, so we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed. The prices were really high, and the food didn't taste anything like authentic Hawaiian poke. The portions were very small, and the flavors just weren't there. It felt like we paid restaurant-level prices for two tiny poke bowls that were average at best. This place has some of the freshest fish on island. It was really neat to make my own poke bowl and they had lots of add-ons and toppings which had no additional charge. Their menu is so easy to read and understand. The staff was very kind and even helped with some recommendations for sauces. They told me signature shoyu which is like a sweet soy sauce and creamy spicy Mayo was one of best and most popular combos and it did not disappoint. Hopefully to come back soon and try out some other sauce combos. read more

Walked over to tropic poke today and didn't realize they have this teriyaki bowl I thought just poke bowls this is my new favorite from now on it's really great thank to worker Selina for pointing it out for me this business is more than a poke place it's for any occasion they have ice cream for hot days if you don't feel like eating fish or tofu. The flavors are decent, but they lack that authentic island taste I was hoping for. Additionally, the prices are a bit on the higher side, but I understand that's expected given its location.
