White Rice w Beans, empanada, pernil (pork) and a piece of chicharron.

In all honesty this plate was so blahhhh. I honestly was excited to try this spot out being that I haven't had a home cooked Puerto Rican meal in a minute. LEMME TELL YOU, this establishment left me so disappointed, I couldn't resist writing my very first Yelp review. Price point of my plate was way too expensive for the quality of food. I spent 30$ on this take out plate (includes a 15% tip). Not trying to be a karen but sheeesh, I've had a fair share of Puerto Rican/Dominican food in my day, and this one by far has been the worst. Definitely do not recommend.

NEW OWNERS AT THIS RESTAURANT Sooo after a long drive from New York USA. Couldn't believe there was a Spanish restaurant out here. WOW to the food and WOW to the service. They cook like it's out of their house kitchen. Thanks again for the great vibes. Can't wait for Saturday because they're cooking goat!!!

I got the goat meat, spicy chicken and Spanish rice. The goat and chicken were really good but the rice was dry. The pricing is also ridiculous. I get that it's a small business but $19 for a take out meal is too expensive

    Sweet Platano $4

I was in search of good food without the premium pricing from Anchorage downtown. Via Yelp, I have found this gem. I had the seasoned ribs, pig feets and sweet platano. The ribs were awesome with Spanish rice and gravy. The pig feets felt like a delicacy and was tasty. However, the pig feets entree had too much bones and not enough skin and meat. The sweet plantain were somewhat dried. The cook was kind enough to fry out some fresh one for me. If you didn't see it in display, just ask for some. Yelpers need to come out here and try this place. You will find this hole in the wall worthwhile to drive to. I didn't see any water provided. You can purchase drinks but I just brought my own water bottle. For $10 entrees, I left satisfied with the food in my stomach.

This restaurant has played host to Chris Rock, Cedric The Entertainer, Rosa Parks, Snoop Dogg, Danny Glover and Sinbad (the comedian, not the pirate). This is where all the cool people go while they are in Anchorage. The restaurant is co-located with Tropical Latin Food. It is right next to the small Speedway gas station. It is not the best of locations. It has a few parking spots available that it shares with the other businesses in the strip mall that it is in. The outside of the spot is kind of dingy, and the inside was not the cleanest either. They were cleaning up when I got there though. So, the dining room area was closed and all the tables and chairs were pushed to the side as the mopped the floor. They do not have any menu available or a menu board. If you want to know what they have, you have to pull up the menu on your cellular device by going to their website. There is no QR code either. The staff their was friendly and helpful. I ordered the chicken dinner with yams and collard greens. The chicken was made fresh, so it took about 30 minutes to get my order. They just took my number and called me when it was ready. I am glad that my food was made fresh, because the food that they had on the line was scary looking. It had definitely been there for awhile. I would recommend getting your drinks from the Speedway next door. They have a better selection and are a bit cheaper. My meal was delicious. The chicken was tasty, hot and fresh. The collards and yams, even though not the best that I have had, were tasty as well. The chicken though was up there with the best I have had. This is a decent place to get your Alaskan soul food. I wish that the location was a little better though. I was teetering between a 3 and 4 star ratting, but the food tipped it to a 4. Definitely worth visiting and getting some of your hard earned dollar.

This was the suggestion and it was well worth it. I ordered the 1/4 all white chicken and as soon as I bit i to it, the juices were coming out. My sides were fried yuca and congri. The portions are massive and you will leave very satisfied. The staff was great and they ensured that I liked their product. The owner/chef came out just to ask me what did I think about the food. I told him that it was GRRREAT! The restaurant is clean and while you can't eat inside they have one table outside of the store that you can sit. If you don't want to cook and you want a healthy option, come here and get the whole chicken. You will be glad that you did and you are helping a small business owner. Healthy and tasty chicken !

Spinz is located at the very end of a small strip mall right next door to McDonald's on Mountain View Dr. The place is small and there is no seating area which would have been nice for a restaurant like this but hopefully that will be in the plans somewhere down the line. The place was busy when I came in around noon. A lot of working regulars as well as some military personnel from Elmendorf Air Force base were waiting patiently in line to place an order. I had placed an order through the Toaster Takeout app and had it scheduled to pick up at 12:15PM, but you would have to stand in line instead of going to a designated station for pickup. A pleasant surprise when I finally came up to the register was that they serve your pickup order by making it at a prep station adjacent to the registers. The wait was only a couple of minutes and this was better than having it sit on the counter and grow cold. I ordered the 1/4 Dark Rotisserie Chicken with Cilantro Mojo Chicken Salad (a Latin spin on chicken salad with cilantro, tri-colored peppers, garlic, mint, extra virgin olive oil, and the restaurant's house-made spice blend) and the Peperonata Criolla (sofrito with bell peppers, garlic, tomatoes, onions, chilis, and assorted veggies). The Peperonata Criolla was absolutely delicious with the sofrito mixed in. The sofrito itself came on the side. I had initially mistook it as a side of salsa until I realized that it was supposed to be mixed in as part of the dish. Likewise, the Mojo Chicken was also very good. The garlic and the cilantro were very noticeable and a great complement with the other ingredients. The Rotisserie Chicken was very tender and moist after being brined and slow-cooked for 12 hours according to the restaurant's website. The Salsa Blanca I chose as the sauce was a great mild spice level option which focused more on flavor. There is a spicy sauce option like the Salsa Aji Amarilla or the Fry Sauce. Peruvian-style cuisine is something you don't see often here in Anchorage and as someone who has lived in Florida, this is badly needed for more versatile options in town. I can't finish this review without mentioning some of the other items on the menu and I will definitely be coming back in the near future to try them out. Some of the more noticeable items include full-rack or half-rack Baby Back Ribs with a choice of either a jerk marinade or house-smoked seasoned rub, the Spin of the Day, daily specials served throughout the week like the Lamb Sandwich (thin-sliced smoked lamb with garlic aioli, caramelized onions, and fennel on a French roll) served on Thursdays, White Chicken Chili with white beans, chilies, topped with onions and cilantro, and their signature Chicken Tacos (tomatoes, dried plums...that's different, olives, and onions with spices and their signature Spinz sauce. They also offer larger portions of meat at market price like Rib Roast, Leg of Lamb, and Smoked Turkey Breast for family dinners or office gatherings. Catering is also available and comes as a package selection of certain items on their menu. Hopefully, they can add a seating area and that will increase business considerably.
