I've always been a fan of Tropical Cafe and even use their rewards app, so I was disappointed with my experience at this location. We ordered two wraps and one sandwich, but when I received the order, I noticed that instead of the sandwich, they gave me something else I didn't order. I brought it to the staff's attention, and they said they would remake it. After waiting again, they handed me an order that actually belonged to someone else. I had to return it and explain once more that it wasn't what I ordered. After another wait, they finally prepared the correct sandwich. The whole experience was stressful and frustrating, especially since it took multiple attempts to get the right order. The food itself was good, which is why I continue to enjoy Tropical Cafe in general. However, based on this experience, I would not recommend this particular location. read more

Today we ordered the Acai bowl and the Bahama Mama bowl. Both were very good. I was surprised that the Acai base on the Acai bowl was frozen. I had to wait a few minutes for it to thaw otherwise it would have been like eating an Icee. I love the granola layer. The fresh strawberries, fresh blue berries, banana and coconut flakes were great. The Bahama Mama bowl was very good. We ordered through the app and our order was ready in about 5 minutes. T-Mobile Tuesday had another deal so I decided to give this place a second try and I enjoyed it much more this time around. I got the Chia Banana Boost which is very tasty and filling, although I will say about halfway through it started to have a strange aftertaste. Maybe something wasn't quite mixed thoroughly? My husband ordered the Pomegranate Plunge which he really liked. I took a few sips and thought it was good too, although it doesn't give you the same feeling of fullness like the Chia Banana does (which has oats in it). We decided to share a Cali Breakfast Flatbread (w/ grilled chicken) and were pleasantly surprised by the size and flavor of it. I'd definitely order one of those again! What a difference a day makes! I'm sure you have heard that before? In my case it was "What a difference Two Weeks Makes!" We returned to Tropical two weeks after my last review and poor experience. They were recently opened at that time and possibly were going through grand opening learning curves? Who knows? Well I am happy to report that we returned and oh my! They knocked our socks off! Great service, food and drink! My wife ordered a smoothie, Jetty Punch. She said it was incredibly delicious. I had the Smoothie Combo which consisted of a Baja Chicken Wrap, Jalapeno Chips and a Island Green smoothie. All were beyond amazing! So glad that we gave them another try. There were two employees working at the time. One jumped on the food preparation and the other the drinks. Great team work! Can't wait to return! read more

Finally, a good smoothie place near Carol Stream. A little bit pricey, I have to admit, but the key thing is, it's worth the cost. I'm a Jamba kind of guy, but they're off in south Wheaton. And every other smoothie place I've seen since is all about the supposed health benefits of smoothies; maybe it's about the smoothie's place in your cleanse, or a menu of mix-ins for all kinds of ailments/benefits. No, I know smoothies aren't healthy; just give them to me anyway! The app lets you grab smoothies on the go very easily and conveniently--it's also the easiest way to request half turbinado sugar (I'm not a glutton for punishment, exactly). The smoothies taste great, of fresh ingredients, and very well blended. I really liked the mango one, but got exactly what I expected from the chocolate one, which seemingly a very strong hit of cocoa powder. It tastes great. As far as I can tell, the food menu items were up to snuff (I didn't order any but my... chicken wrap thing... tasted good and fresh.) The sweet potatoes did need celery salt. Service is terrible. Apathetic employees, no eye contact, no help unless you are ask repeatedly for help. Strawberry smoothies that are bright yellow? I've experienced long wait times before and grumbling employees but I just waited 40 minutes for two wraps and two smoothies. Won't be back. read more

Service is appalling. They take forever to actually get to you and sometimes the employees just walk around and ignore the customers. The food tastes expired.
