One of the few reasonably-priced options in the area that's open on Sunday! Staff is friendly & efficient. Food is fresh and made to order and took just a couple minutes. I appreciate having the calorie content on the easy-to read wall menu. The "flatbreads" on the menu are actually folded in a soft, grilled bread resembling naan or pita. My chipotle flatbread was generously stuffed with chicken, bacon, tomato and tangy sauce. Not much heat at all. Blueberry bliss smoothie is light and fruity. Both were super tasty. There's cozy seating inside and out, but no shade on the metal chairs outdoors (ouch.) Metered street parking, and easy walking distance from the Ritz-Carlton. Room for improvement: 1. there are two single-occupancy bathrooms, marked MEN and WOMEN. On our travels through St Louis, we decided to stop by Tropical Smoothie Cafe that was close to the hotel we were staying in. I walked in to see 3 women working behind the counter. It appeared that they were busy making the online orders; HOWEVER, I stood at the counter for several minutes before anyone spoke to me! 2 of them looked right at me and still didn't speak. They were having a personal conversation while getting the orders ready. I guess this morning while I was getting my dressed I accidentally put on my invisible outfit today. Silly me! Smoothies were good and i can definitely appreciate hard workers trying to get orders out in a timely manner, so that's why they get the 3 stars. read more

Customer service was great and that's what that star is for. Ordered a peanut butter cup smoothie and a jerk chicken bowl. The smoothie was very rich and the bowl was very bland. There was only a spoonful of rice, 90% of it was lettuce, and the only real flavor was the jerk sauce. I personally can't handle spicy, but the sauce was too good not to try to keep eating. My friend and I headed to Tropical Smoothie Café after a jog in the park. I'm not sure if St. Louis has Jamba Juice, but it definitely gives off a colder more empty version of a Jamba vibes if that makes sense. Anyways, my girl had highly recommended their wraps, but unfortunately, it was the first and last time I was there. When we were served our food, the girl who gave us our smoothie didn't secure the lid, and it spilled on our table. She said sorry very nonchalantly and just gave us napkins, and she had on extremely long acrylic nails. Very cute, but I really hoped she didn't handle our food or make our smoothies. The wrap was delicious. My experience there is what prompted me to leave 3 stars. read more

The service was good, but the smoothies... not so much. First of all, they sweeten their smoothies, which defeats the purpose of the health benefits of the drink the cafe is named for. I asked for mine not to be sweetened, and now I know why they do it: the smoothies simply aren't good. I got the blueberry smoothie without sugar and it is mostly ice. Thats not a smoothie, it is a slushy. Also, there is no fresh fruit in the smoothie. At least mine didn't come from concentrate as some of the other "fruit" ingredients did, but I'm not sure I'm better off because the drink is just so bland. There is like one handful of frozen blueberries, and 3x as much ice and water added. If you want to spend $7 on a mediocre slushy, this place is fine. If you want a real smoothie, you are far better off not having one at all than getting it here. read more

We placed an order through the website and picked it up ourselves. We ordered 6 of the lime straws but they were not in the bag. We understand that happens but when trying to call and get our refund, the phone said "this voicemail box is not set up". We had no way of reaching anyone, called back the next day and was told the general manager would call us back. Still no call so we called back again and were told they didn't call back because they assumed is was a Uber Eats order or another delivery service and we needed to contact them for re-imbursement. Spoke to someone who said they were a manager and explained we picked the order up ourselves and ordered through the website, they stated they would have the general manager call us back. Still nothing...... Make sure to check your order BEFORE leaving the building because trying to get credited back for something we didn't get is not working. read more

I'm glad a place like this popped up in the heart of Clayton. Fresh fruit smoothies (well priced), good sandwiches and wraps. The owners are such kind and generous people. It was clear to us that they're working tirelessly to do a good job and provide quality for their customers. Impeccably clean inside with great upbeat music. The peanut butter and banana breakfast flatbread is yummy. Turkey bacon ranch sandwich was light but filling (fresh ciabatta bread too). Free parking in the garage was a bonus. I order from this place via uber eats at least three times a week. They almost always forget my lime or strawberry edible straw. Even though it is ALWAYS on the order ticket. Which leads me to further believe that they probably don't even get my smoothie order right. Those straws are not expensive, but not receiving them does start to add up. I wanted to like this place and honestly didn't even know it was there since I usually just go to Kaldis and another shop over in the Carondelet space. But, just walking in I knew it didn't belong in this high end location. Staff really couldn't have cared less if I was there. Being in the area often I expect a better attitude and top customer service. The wait for a smoothie of 15 minutes when there was only one person in line in front of me is silly. Smoothie is just okay. More ice than necessary. Not familiar with this chain, but its not for me. I'll be surprised if this lasts too much longer in its current location. read more

The owner does not care at all. They never make anything right. I've been overcharged, shortchanged, constantly get my order incorrect, cold or up charged for add ons that I don't receive. Myself and I believe my entire 400 and something firm are done with them for the most part. They are convenient but we order from them all the time and they screw up 9x out of 10. This is one of those locations that destroys the brand... no fruit--all ice smoothies... wrap was all rice & lettuce & corners folded tight so it was mostly tortilla with no ingredients... plus the prices are much higher than normal--instead of $5.99 for a smoothie it's like $6.79 so, it was $30 for 2 people... My sunrise sunset smoothie is right in front of me making me want to barf! Sheesh! I wish they had a business consultant that would teach them good food equals repeat business and repeat business is the only thing that will make a business profitable... an extra scoop of ice will never make a business profitable... don't punish the customers because your rent is too high!!! I have always loved Tropical Smoothie and was excited when it moved into the neighborhood. Everything started off ok with this location, but lately it's been off. The past 3 times my order has been wrong and while that's not too big of a deal, when I've let the staff know, they have been less than helpful or apologetic. In one instance the staff member even told me "well you must have ordered wrong because it says wrap, not bowl on the ticket." I'm hopeful that Tropical Smoothie can get it together and train the staff to be more attentive and more accommodating, but I won't be back for a while. read more

I placed an order through the tropical smoothie cafe app. When I arrived (10 min after time ready) I did not see my food in the cube. I asked the associate Shamyra about my order and she wasn't helpful AT ALL. She explained to me that she did not see my order in her system. I proceeded to show her my order confirmation and let her know what I ordered. She let me know that she couldn't do anything for me and that it will be a loss if she was to make my order. At that time I am baffled because not only did I show her my order confirmation, tropical smoothie cafe has already taken my money. She also was trying to explain the system to me and being a paying CUSTOMER the system is the least of my worries. She proceeded to go back and forth with me on how she was not going to remake or take care of the order I had already paid for. Finally the owner (without urgency) came over and received my order. It took maybe 15 more minutes before I was even "taken care of". I do understand I went at prime time lunch and sometimes things can get behind BUT the service I received today was UNACCEPTABLE. I love this restaurant and was so excited to have one in STL but I am VERY DISAPPOINTED. This is nothing like the Tropical Smoothie Cafe I've previously visited. read more
