The cranberry truffle was just how I like it. Employees are patient and helpful. Would be much better if we as a community expected organic ingredients at these prices. This was my first time at Tropical Smoothie Cafe, so I had no idea what to expect. I stopped by because I wanted one of the beverages I saw featured in the window. When I walked in I was warmly welcomed by the staff. They were very patient, as my husband and I perused the beverage menu and asked questions while placing our order. At first glance, I was hesitant about selecting a food option. Through his generosity, Josh enticed me into making a selection. I'm so glad he did. The sandwich I received was Super Fresh and delicious. The smoothie that Deshonique mixed up for us was also yummy and refreshing. She did a great job detailing the add-ins we might like on a future visit. There will definitely be a future visit! I've had their sunrise sunset smoothie here, as well as there Paradise point and the Bahama mama smoothie. Of the three smoothies I think the Bahama mama is always my favorite. That's the one my husband and I tend to get every time we come here. It's across the street and down a block from where my husband works, so we are here at least once a week. Your smoothies are always consistently the same and taste abundantly sweet. I'm not certain that all of the sweetness is natural, but I like to think so. I'm not certain if their fruit is frozen or fresh but let's hope they're fresh. I want to say it's the cheapest place, but then again most of the places are probably comfortable. read more

I decided to have a healthy lunch today and stopped by Tropical Smoothie Cafe. The atmosphere is light and airy with bright pops of color which I instantly loved (very tropical!) The sun was shining through the windows so I found a quiet table in the corner and decided to eat in. The list of smoothies is super extensive from fruity to superfood mega healthy! I opted for a Detox Island Green smoothie which has: Spinach, kale, mango, pineapple, banana & fresh ginger. It was pretty tasty, and I added chia and flax seeds. I love ginger so I would get an extra kick of ginger next time. The smoothies are totally customizable and you can add all types of goodness from chia seeds to whey protein and so much more! There's also wraps and flatbed sandwiches to choose from. The girl taking my order was very helpful in letting me know all the different add ons I could do and some of her favorite flavors to try. I was pretty impressed with the large size of my smoothie for such a great price! So glad I now know this place is here and I have a healthy option for lunch not far from my job because I'm excited to try more flavors! read more

Sasha made us some super yummy Island Detox & Blimey Limey smoothies! Great consistency and only a couple minites She was polite and brightened up our day with her kind smile. This store obviously takes pride in being efficient, clean and helpful. I had my dog with me and while my daughter went inside ro check out the menu, Lana & Dani were on break and saw me out there with my umbrella in the rain and took a moment to come let me know dogs were allowed inside. I've been loving tropical smoothie for a while now and I'm finally writing about my love for it! I particularly love this location because its the closest one to me, and because its absolutely delicious of course. They have a ton of different smoothie flavors and options for you to try, as well as pretty nice food menu too. I haven't tried anything (yet!) but I've always wanted to and will Yelp it when I do :) They have a lot of chicken wraps, sandwiches and salads AND! they can sub the chicken for a really good vegetarian "chicken" for veggies like me! My go to smoothie is the Detox Island Green, it is so so so very green and tasty. It's honestly the greenest smoothie they make and it's the best too, I think. I'm not a huge fan of sweets so this smoothie is right up my alley. It's naturally sweetened with the fruit and ginger and just taste so fresh! I go to Tropical smoothies of all locations but when searching for one near the location I was heading too, I seen this location and I read the reviews, basically warning about the staff so I had it coming. Only been to this place once. The smoothies were great but the staff, all I hear is a bunch of them just messing around. Now I don't mind a staff that gets along but they were utterly obnoxious. One didn't know what to do when they're about to close, while the other said clean or something and I looked around and the tables were dirty and the trash super full. Though the lady who made my smoothies was super friendly and walked up to me and handed me my smoothies instead of over the counter. I had no issue with wait really since I came towards the end of the day. They can be professional but should know when to be but I give them the benefit of the doubt it being the end of the day. read more

i'm super disappointed. we're late to discovering this place, and we've been enjoying prompt service and wonderful smoothies. until today. we ordered our food, as usual. driver pulled up, dropped off our smoothies, and drove away with our food. i called them, they were aware and not very helpful. "can you come pick up the food yourself?" they asked. really? i spend $55 bucks for food and delivery, your driver drove off, and i have to pick up the food? um, no. i'll take a refund. "you'll have to call grub hub yourself." one problem i found as i relayed the information to my wife, who ordered the food, she didn't use grub hub. she used tropical smoothie's app, which had no number or contact information. we called them back, demanded our refund, which we got. tldr: they didn't deliver our food, and were extremely unhelpful and unapologetic about it. update: after refunding the money, they convinced my wife to come pick up the food. which was nice, i guess, unfortunately, they still messed up our order. my wife's salad was incorrect, and they didn't even make my sandwich. very frustrating. read more

So much for a grand opening. Two women spent 20 minutes (from the time I walked in) him-ho-ing over every menu item and pulling up expired coupons, while 6 other customers waited, and 5 staff members just stood around and did nothing. No staff member attempted to use the other register or take the current customers aside and help them decide what they wanted so that other customers could be on their way. When I (finally) got to the register, the cashier, Sarah, was very polite. My picture shows the staff members waiting around for nothing. My smoothie was great but my sandwich was wrong and the workers were confused on what a Chipotle Chicken Club flatbread was. I received a skimpy Chicken Pesto Flatbread, and returned it by telling the worker that my sandwich had pesto on it and she asked if I didn't want pesto...Well, no. I don't want pesto if that wasn't was I ordered. The workers asked what my order was and I again pointed out that I ordered a Chipotle Chicken Club, the worker asked if it was "the one with apples" (referring to the Chicken Apple Club). And when I said no, she looked at the menu all confused, took my sandwich and remade it. When she returned with the correct sandwich, she apologized, which was nice and appreciated. I like TSC in general. I think what you get your price is worth it. I think this particular location struggles with efficiency. If you go at peak times or non-low hours, you'll be there for a while. I'm not sure if it's staffing or whatever but it's frustrating when it's peak hours and not enough employees to meet that. read more

I love Tropical Smoothie but have come to hate this location. There seems to be no management, and there are always many people seemingly working, yet only one at the register for the long line. There is no point in ordering online because they use the "online order only" register for everything so you still have to wait in line. I complained via their website and was contacted by the owner who was very polite and said he was going to try to make some changes. I've been back a couple times and it has only gotten worse. On my last visit, one of the employees who seemed to be the manager was sitting at the counter eating with a friend, and going back-and-forth behind the counter to do work back to eating and playing with her friends kids, and at one point grabbing another employee and running outside for whatever reason. Meanwhile, I got my smoothie and then waited almost 20 minutes before asking for my flatbread, which had been sitting on the shelf behind the counter the entire time. 3-4 people were making smoothies, and the girl at the register seems to be the only one paying attention to anything and was the one who grabbed my food when I asked for it. I noticed a couple others who ordered food waiting for a long time as well. I will not be returning to this location and hope that the new locations on Woodward will have different owners/management. I'm sick of waiting for ridiculous amounts of time and getting overall terrible service. This place is out of control. read more

I am updating my review because this location has really gotten their shit together. First and foremost - use the app. It's your best friend if you're ordering during peak times. You walk in - there's a separate line and simply pick up. Soooo easy! Second - the staff. The mostly female staff is awesome. Super friendly and they look like they enjoy working together. Vast improvement from a while back. These peeps have hit their groove and I genuinely enjoy walking in..... Finally - QUALITY. Dude, they make the BEST smoothies at this location. It is always correct and the ratios are perfect. A couple of the gals even recommended some tasty alternatives that were equally as healthy as the Detox for me to build. Our order could not have been simpler. Sandwich with chips, 3 cheese quesadilla and smoothie for my vegetarian girlfriend and we paid extra for some sour cream. They put chicken on the quesadilla so it was wasted and my girlfriend didn't get to eat. Forgot the sour cream we paid for and the chips for my sandwich. I have to admit I was a bit hesitant to visit this Tropical Smoothie location based on the reviews but decided to give them a chance anyway because it was closest to me and I was really craving a smoothie. I was pleasantly surprised. The worker helping us was nice and helped us pretty quickly, this location is bigger than others I have visited and there are plenty of places to sit and very clean as well. We went during lunch hour and it wasn't too busy. We ordered 2 wraps, both were good and up to par with other Tropical Smoothie locations. We also ordered 2 smoothies, mine was pretty good although I was expecting it to be a bit sweeter. I will probably be coming back to this location when I'm craving another smoothie ;) read more

Now let's not be too harsh on a new business, the location is clean, the staff is charming and friendly (shoutout to the mostly mixed female staff ), but what we came for is the smoothies and they do not disappoint. You might say to yourself, "self, why am I spending almost $6 on a smoothie? That doesn't seem practical." Then, when you're handed a gut load of healthy goodness in a cup, you realize your faults in life. Tropical' Smoothies' drinks are a college budget dream. To have a deceivingly healthy shake borderline on ice cream means I'm not putting money where my mouth should be. I don't want to spend $9 on "freshly squeezed juices" and feel gypped out of real substance anymore. Thanks for the reminder, I will be back. I absolutely love Tropical Smoothie, but this location needs some serious help. Every time I have physically gone in to order food, I have waited about 15-20 minutes for my smoothie and wrap. While there appears to be about 8 people working there at lunch and dinner time, at least half of these people are standing around chatting with other members of the staff in the kitchen. I really don't appreciate seeing that while I'm waiting (with other people) to receive food that we ordered 15 minutes ago. The staff is also very forgetful when it comes to their Happy Hour promotion. I have had 2 experiences now where the cashier has "forgotten" to ring up the discount, and cannot seem to figure out how to refund me the difference if I pay with the LevelUP app that Tropical Smoothie offers. I have also been very unsatisfied with the taste and consistency of the smoothies I have ordered, particularly the Detox Island Green. With all due respect, if I'm paying $6 for a drink, I expect the people making it to know what they're doing. I don't think that's too much to ask. The past few times I have ordered this smoothie, there have been large chunks of kale and ice in it. If this location were to re-train it's staff on customer service and meal preparation, I think I would visit it more often. It's nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to the above things and it's frustrating that they don't have a drive through (it's right on Woodward so most new places do not have a drive thru right off Woodward because Ferndale will not allow them to so cannot hold it against them). The customer service and speed of service were not great the team was more focused on talking to each other than us. Nothing above and beyond a normal experience but the smoothie was still good and what I expected.
