Extremely slow service. I waited 15 minutes for one simple breakfast wrap and the store was not busy. The employees were rude and unprofessional. I watched one female employee walk silently over to a customer who was looking down at his phone and rather than say "excuse me, sir, here's your drink!" or something to that effect, she tapped him on the arm with his drink, handed it to him, and walked away without so much as a "you're welcome," or a "have a nice day!" There was only one person making food and maybe he was new but he was painfully slow and messed up several orders. There was a customer waiting in front of me for them to fix his order, and then I had to wait for them to also fix my order because they made both orders incorrectly. Super bummed about this place. I was SO exited when I found out a tropical smoothie was opening so close to home (literally would scream about it every time I would drive past before it opened), but every time I have gone it's less than mediocre. I've been ordering the same smoothie for years (kiwi quencher sub Splenda) at locations all over, so I know how it should taste and how it should look. Every time I order from here it is extra "light pink," meaning it's heavy on the ice and minimal on "flavor." This either tells me they are cheap on ingredients or their employees are unsure on the correct portions. Although it's never been great, I continue to give them another chance, but today really ruined it for me and will probably be my last visit at this location. I ordered online, (in a rush to work and unable to turn around and request a new smoothie), and there was no Splenda or sugar what so ever and pastel pink in color. Now don't get me wrong, I love pastel pink in things like flowers, nail polish, starbursts, strawberry ice cream, but not in my smoothie. Overall the smoothie tastes like ice. My advice, if you love tropical smoothie like I do, avoid this place so you aren't disappointed and lose faith in the company as a whole. read more

I love the idea of this place and have given it several tries but I just can't justify spending my money here anymore! Every time I've come here I've waited almost 20 minutes for a smoothie. Each time I order something new and without fail it takes the employee two tries to get it right. Not sure why that is, maybe the recipes don't makes sense but every single time they always too thick! All staff members seem overwhelmed, half trained and clueless on recipes and general protocol. Twice now I've witnessed ladies behind the counter gossiping about other workers while ignoring customers. Never once I have seen a manager or owner.... My suggestion: avoid wasting your time here. I wouldn't say I frequent the Clawson store often but as much as I can. Stopped here at the Ferndale location because it is much closer. So many people behind the counter, so little actual help. I know they're new, I know they're training but the customer service was really bad. Not many customers and so many employees just standing around. My smoothie was fine but it took forever to make. My sandwich was barely edible, it was vegetarian and they had a hard time understanding that at first. It was not made well, lacked actual substance to it, and was not satisfying. But because the workers move so slow they look like the sloths from "zootopia" movie. And not only are they super slow, there rude. But, foods great. Make sure you have plenty of time when going here. I'd advise you to order ahead before going into the store. Today I did not order ahead of time. I ordered half a sandwich and a smoothie. The smoothie took 10 minutes and I did not get my sandwich until I went up to the cashier to request a refund since it had been 20 minutes since I placed my order and still did not have my sandwich. Placed an order using the app this morning. We entered to pick it up. There was a woman in line staring at a paper menu, making the cashier wait. This went on for a minute. We yelled out that we just need to pickup an order already paid for. It took the cashier another minute or so before she brought our smoothies out of the fridge. We had to confusingly ask where our food is. The cashier took another minute to turn around and grab our bag of food. All the while, this woman wad still at the front of the line picking her butt while she wad looking over the menu with a line of 6 behind her. There were ten fricking staff members working and no one could pull this woman out of the line to keep it moving or to get us everything from our order. This is the last chance I give this place. There is a new Tropical Smoothie opening at John R and 12 Mile - I'll wait for that store to open before I revisit Tropical Smoothie again and we will NEVER be back here. read more

Best customer service!! I come in here 2-3 times a week on my lunch to grab food for my coworkers and I, there has never been an order mess up or any issue! Even when they are slammed busy all the ladies up front are so sweet, kind, and their energy radiates and lights up every one in there! Claim to be all healthy and environmentally conscious, but their food and ethics are far from that. I got a veggie hummus bowl, and their "avocados" came from a commercially made paste (not even a taste of avocado, just a hit of color), their cold white rice tasted stale, like it was in the fridge for 4 days, and black beans tasted worse than the ones from the can. Hummus didn't taste like hummus either. They also serve their "healthy" smoothies in foam cups, give you your food in a plastic bag even if you are eating inside (trays, anyone?) , which has a note on it, urging customers to "responsibly" recycle it, but when I asked the stuff where is their recycle bin they told me they never recycled. To my question if they ever think what happens to the tons of plastic they trash every day, all 5 of them at the counter just shrugged their shoulders. These guys have a long way to go to live up to the health and environmental claims they are making about themselves. read more

I'll go with 3 stars here, based on multiple trips. If I were to base it on this trip alone I would give this experience 1 or 2 stars. Ordered online (website not app). Got a turkey apple sandwich with no turkey or bacon. I subbed for beyond meat and paid the extra charge. Get here, stand by the online order pick up and get ignored. Got my food and it has turkey and bacon on it. Online order said pick up would be ar 3:04. Currently 3:22 and I'm still waiting for them to remake it. I waited super long until I finally went up to the register to find my smoothie just on the counter uncalled for. I asked for my money back but ended up with just my overpriced half melted smoothie that wasn't even fully blended. Will never go back to this location despite how much I like the chain. I love tropical smoothie and have been to many locations. My smoothie was delicious made by Emon. She rocked it out being the only girl at the counter taking order, cashing them out, and making the smoothies aka the only one up front. Due to that it did take longer then usual to receive my smoothie but understandable doing so many jobs at once (I could understand someone in a hurry thinking this was a quick healthy choice would be irritated). I thought to myself I was surprised to see one girl working when it is a busy time of the night, three girls came from the back none of them joining her. I give that girl a lot of credit able to handle the front of the store on her own and keep all of the customers happy, prob 10-15 while I was there. Also again making a delicious smoothie! read more

Inlove with this place! I've been 2x a week since they opened! My only beef was today- I popped in during lunch rush. Expected a wait - which I was fine with - sat at the counter while I waited and felt uncomfortable. The manager/owner (not sure who he was) was rude/short with his employees. After reading the other reviews I get it but just makes customers feel uncomfortable when you can clearly see and feel the negative Energy behind the counter. I've worked in environments similar and you get stressed and easily make mistakes when someone is constantly taking to you in a rude tone. Maybe some more training during slower times with your employees can avoid lunch rush stress. Like I said- I will continue to come just wanted to give me 2 cents. read more
