I have been to this location many times and have always had amazing service and amazing food and smoothies. The last time I was in there I had a very rough day and it was visible on my face despite my efforts to act normal. The young man behind the counter was concerned and asked if everything was ok and the rest of the staff wished me an improved day when I got my order without even knowing what was wrong. Sugar-laden, non-healthy "smoothies" that might as well come with an insulin pen. I've watched them add TONS of sugar to each smoothie, so unless you ask for it without the additional diabetes, you're better off chugging a gallon of melted ice cream. read more

Haven't tried my food yet. But the delivery driver was dishelved. My smoothie was dripping all down the sides. Then to top it off, I ordered a bowl and somehow it printed up as a wrap. Now I love a good smoothie place, especially after a work out or when I'm on the run. I like the smoothies here, but customer service really needs some work. The first time I came in, I was the only customer, there were about ten people behind the counter and I had to wait a literal seventeen minutes for my sandwich. Then I get in the car and drive off only to realize the gave me the butt of the bread -_-. The second time I came I ordered a smoothie and a sandwich again. The same long wait, maybe even longer. This morning I stopped at this Ferndale location before work. I ordered a smoothie and a breakfast wrap, the southwest breakfast wrap after asking the girl at the register what was in each one. My smoothie was done promptly, tasted great. To no avail, I waited foreeeevvvveeeeerrrrr for my breakfast wrap. When it was done, they just took it out and left it there. I watched it sit with no one wrapping it up or anything. I had to ask someone if it was mine, she said yes and then wrapped it up for me. When I got in the car I realized they made me the wrong wrap -_-. Needless to say, I will no longer be ordering food from Tropical Smoothie. read more

I. Just. Can't. Again. I've tried with this place more than a dozen times and every experience has been a challenge. There is no sense of urgency with the staff. More than once I've waited (patiently) while the counter people catered to the employees on break sitting at the bar. I get it, everybody is entitled to a break, but consider making your smoothie prior to going on break. And maybe sit at a table away from the counter. I've had to modify my order because they were out of whey protein, I've had to wait because the one blender everybody likes is being used, while the other 3 sit collecting dust. This am was the last straw. I arrived at 7:06am, the open sign was on, the door was locked. The girl behind the counter gave me the "hold on" sign.....and that was enough for me. I was so excited to see this place open as it is on my way to work, but I will leave early and head up to Clawson from now on and save myself the frustration. read more

I have severe celiac and have never eaten food here before. I asked one of the employees if there were gluten free options at all and she replied, "sugar free"? I politely said, "no, gluten is anything with wheat, barley, malt, rye or other flour products". She then said, "yes, everything is safe".. I was confused since there are 3 menus full of sandwiches and the small selection of bowls also had dressings, toppings and contents that are definitely not safe for me to eat. I feel that in a food service position and in an atmosphere of a chain restaurant in an area that normally is very allergy friendly that the staff should be more knowledgeable to safely serve its customers. I had the Peaches & Silk smoothing, along with a Hummus Veggie wrap. The smoothie was great & the wrap was delicious.

I visited this location specifically for the happy hour deal. After ordering two smoothies and two wraps, the total came a lot higher than I expected. Once I received my receipt I checked and saw that I was not charged appropriately. 10 minutes later the manager figured out how to reimburse me, which I was thankful for. However when I got home the smoothie was full of ice chunks and did not taste good. I love tropical smoothie but I have had prior issues similar to the smoothie one I had today, which has made me question whether or not I will return to this location. Overall it was a negative experience and it is my belief the staff needs more training on how to properly make a smoothie. read more

I enjoyed my visit to this establishment this afternoon around 6:00 I ordered an untimate club with a bag of chips and and two cookies. The cookies were delicious and I can say the same for my club sandwich. Great customer service also. I've been going to this location three to four times a week for the past 5 months rarely do I get a good smoothie usually I have to get my smoothie made twice or I wait 10 minutes most of the time they're either too watered-down and I taste like nothing or they're too thick and you can't drink them not only that I've learned today that I've been being lied to about the amount of protein that is in their smoothies when I came in there five months ago I asked how how many grams of protein is in one scoop of your whey and I also asked multiple employees on various different days each one of them told me a different answer around 20 to 25 to 30 and then finally this location puts out the Little flip book that shows information on all of their additives I come to find out that it is only 10 grass I had bariatric surgery 5 months ago and every day I use these smoothies and the Whey Protein so I can meet my protein needs for the day now that I'm finding out that I have been missing at least 30 grams of protein out of my diet this is unacceptable not only are the smoothies wrong and their information is wrong I've been in there multiple times where after they deal with the situation with the customer the customer leaves and then they talk about the customer after and not only that a lot of your employees argue in front of customers I just found this location be very very poor read more

Stopped in for the second time earlier at lunch today and I can honestly say things were different than my first time. Came for the first time in February and my smoothie was straight ice for 6 dollars!! And the girl behind the counter took so long I almost left just doing everything slow as ever and they weren't even busy. But this visit was great! I stopped in and they were extremely busy so of course I had my doubts because of my previous visit. The two ladies behind the counter were killing tho!! One was a little shorter and the other was tall with a bun. They were laughing and joking with customers but still getting things out with ease. I was in this location this afternoon and got a salad for lunch. I got it back to my office (it was in the bag the entire time, with the lid on) and started to eat and there was bug in it!!! A crawling bug not a flying one so there is no way that it could have gotten in at my office. I called the store and asked to speak to the manager because I just had a bug in my salad and the manager wouldn't get on the phone. I was told by the person who answered the phone that they couldn't refund my money unless I brought the salad and my receipt up. I explained that when i saw the bug, i quickly tossed the salad in my garbage can so it's not in one piece anymore. She reiterated that that was their policy. She then apologized and said (and I quote) "sometimes that happens". If you believe that "sometimes" you get bugs in your food, i suggest you get out of the food business!! I will never eat at this location again and if you do, I highly recommend you check your food first! read more
