We stopped in because we had gift cards from our church, and were surprised to find it tucked away in a shopping center we visit often. It was very clean and well staffed. This is my second time to Tropical Smoothie Cafe. I got the Blueberry Bliss with a Collegen add-in. So yummy!!!! My lovie got the Mango Madness and he loves it. One of the wonderful things about Tropical Smoothie Cafe is they use fresh ingredients so it never feels like you're drinking sugar water. The size of the drinks are excellent. And they definitely have a lot of options for those who might want to be conscious of calories. We've also tried the food here on a previous visit and it was also unexpectedly delish. I think the they should change their name to Tropical "Ice Chunk" Cafe because there's nothing "smooth" about these drinks. 90% of the time I get ice chunks that clog up my straw not to mention the time I slurped up a foreign object!!!! Seemed to be some sort of plastic. Too many kids working here that don't really care. Not sure if they are following the recipes, but there is no consistency. Absolutely unacceptable. All I ordered was a salad, Sandwhich and 2 smoothies. Waited a total of 40 minutes!! After 25 minutes they gave me my smoothies, they didn't know I ordered and paid for a salad and sandwich. So they then had to make that and took another 20 minutes. I really try to give Hs places a try. I wanted something fast and convenient and THIS is what I get?! I could've made 10 salads and Sandwiches at home. It was not busy at all. I think this is more of a 4 star experience but I wanted to offset the 2 star review. The food is good and the smoothies are excellent. It is always jamming busy in there I would order your food online and give them 20 minutes to get everything ready. Even if you plan on eating in. My wife and I have been to this location three times and every time it has been good. The employees work hard and still can't keep up with orders. Went here for the first time and ordered a Baja Chicken bowl. Came in one of those plastic containers you see at airports or delis. It literally looked like they just took it out of the freezer. It was so cold I thought the chicken was still thawing. Nothing fresh at all. Had the most synthetic taste. Always quick and easy service! I always use the mobile app and when I arrive my order is ready to go. They have substations so you can limit the sugar. I always order the açaí smoothie and take out the sugar. Tastes the same. I've always also ordered the buffalo chicken wrap which is a perfect portion size. Or a fast food smoothie place this place is very dependable. The bad reviews I can see were from growing pains when this place just opened. Why o why do I keep trying? Items much needed missing! More money lost. With this store you need to check your orders so carefully!

First off, the food was good. Everything else about the experience was disappointing. The person making the food was incapable of working and talking at the same time. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with employees engaging in jovial conversation while working, but that caveat of "while working" is very important. He kept stopping to talk and even stopped to listen to conversation. However this caused it to take 20+ minutes just to make a sandwich. What was even more frustrating to me was that both people who came in after me had been served prior to me getting my food (probably because someone else was making their orders). One of these other customers ordered something for which one ingredient was out of stock. She got apologies from two employees and a free cookie to make up for the inconvenience, but I don't recall getting so much as a "sorry that took so long." (I could be forgetting, but I was really annoyed when I left.) Then, on top of everything, my order was wrong! I didn't realize it until after getting home, but they made my sandwich wrong. Now, for the real kicker, it wasn't even special ordered! They messed up a stock sandwich!! I would have taken it back, but reasoned it wasn't worth (what I presumed would be) another 20+ minute wait. So, with all of this, why the two stars instead of 1? Because the food was still good... A little on the pricey side for the portion size, but that's not a deal breaker. This was my first visit to any Tropical Smoothie. It might be my last. I've ordered online for pickup from this location on 4 occasions. The first time I got my food/smoothie on time and all was good so, I came back. But I only had bad experiences the next three visits, ranging from: -Food and smoothie were not ready simultaneously (leaving me with either cold food or a melted smoothie) -Food and smoothie weren't ready at the specified time in my online order (I ended up waiting 25+ more minutes to receive my order on two separate occasions, while people ordering in the line at the location were taken care of before me) -Claims that my order might have been taken by someone else prior to my pickup arrival (since I got there a few minutes before the order was supposed to be ready, being vigilant looking for my order the entire time, I honestly think this was an excuse and my order was simply lost in the shuffle) -Served the wrong food item and wrong smoothie after asking for the status of my missing order -Being completely ignored while standing at the counter, and then having to wait even longer in the line to get the correct food item... (but at least they gave me a free cookie) -Oh yeah, and NONE of the staff members wear masks, all crammed behind the counter. It's just a matter of time before there's a Covid outbreak at this store. I don't know if the other locations are this bad from a customer service standpoint, but I strongly advise against ordering from here unless you are an extremely patient person, who doesn't value their time, or their health. read more

I frequently visit Tropical Smoothie Cafe throughout Wake County 2-3 times a week. I am at the Supercharged level w/the app if that tells you my frequency visiting the cafe. I visited the Holly Springs location Feb.2019 for the 1st & last time ever! I have ALWAYS ordered the Chia Banana Peanut Butter smoothie. The experience at the Holly Springs location was the WORSE I have even seen in fast food. Thomas the manager tried his best to resolve the problem(s) while keeping the establishment running in a fashionable matter. You can only expect a certain level of service when you supply him with 5 employees and only 2 are working. The others are to busy talking about customers and rolling their eyes such as (Maddy/Mattie)!! Trash was over flowing on the floor, tables dirty and several people waiting for their food. Oh and don't let me forget if the smoothie doesn't fill the cup or blend correctly the employees are told by the owner to add a lot of ice or water based off of what the employees said when questioned. Maddy/Mattie needs to find other employment because she makes this establishment look bad. So far I have visited this place 3 times and each time I ordered a different smoothie and meal. Delicious every time. So far my favorite is the heath nut. I had pea protein added. I never had pea protein before and I thought it was delicious. I didn't taste peas. It tasted fresh and it had just the right mix so none of the flavors over powered the other in my smoothie. Their rice bowls didn't have much rice in it. Is was more of a salad bowl. Still very good. Found it to be a very healthy choice. Food was brought out quickly. They did forget my kale side on one trip when I had a to go order but I will definitely keep coming. read more
