Love this place! I figured out the trick is to order a flat bread and "add on" a smoothie. Total is less than $9! I like the cali chicken flatbread, comes with avocado, my favorite. There is a sauce on this flatbread that is just incredible! I tried a few different smoothies during my visits, the tropical C and green machine something like that, both were fantastic. I've been going to this tropical smoothie regularly for almost a year now. I see the same people working and they don't seem personal. Today top it off, since the Tropical smoothie chain is doing the 1/2 breakfast happy hour ending at 10AM. I called ahead and placed my order, I arrived there and stood in line, there was a few customers in front of me and the register guy 'Joe' saw me come in. I figured since I was in the door by then and they saw me, I was good to go. I got rung up at 10:02AM and they charged me full price. I asked him about it and he said I was late...2mins? He knew there was some people in front of me and I had to wait to get rung up, if it was 10 or 15min I would understand, I told him I was a regular there and he said didn't care, he was actually being rude about it. read more

We waited about 12 minutes for 2 overpriced smoothies and then after I got back in the car and was on my way home, I realized that they gave me the wrong smoothie. Wow - What a disappointment. We arrived around 2pm on a Sunday to a crowd (usually crowds equal great restaurants...but not in this case). The menu is on a board but without any descriptions. After we got our incorrect order (which I'll get to)...we were told that the descriptions are on a menu laid out on the counter. Kinda hard to stand there and decide when you have a line of people behind you...... My Mom has dietary restrictions due to her health - she ordered a loaded Spinach Salad (which was on the board displayed)....and were told in a fairly snotty way that they don't have the ingredients to make that anymore (well, then cover it up or update your menu board!)....Hastily, my Mom ordered the Hummus Veggie Wrap...I ordered the Jerk Chicken Wrap...My son had something that my Mom ordered for him (which turned out to be the best tasting item) ...and my Dad had a turkey sandwich. My Mom chose an orange and the rest of us chose Sun Chips. The menu showed multiple Sun Chip options but we were just given Original Sun Chips without choice. We also ordered 3 smoothies. After quite a wait, the smoothies finally come out --- two of them. We had to wait at least 5 more minutes for the third smoothie and it was wrong (instead of making 3 different smoothies, he made 2 of one of the flavors). Our food came out a few minutes after our smoothies and it came out in parts -- My Dad & son's order came out on trays....My Mom's orange came out....and then my Mom & my wraps came out in a bag (together & unmarked & uncut) in the same bag (they stated that they were out of trays). We couldn't figure out whose wrap was whose...so I had to unroll one....unroll the other...Quick frankly, they looked exactly the same --- I've NEVER seen any type of hummus veggie wrap with southwestern corn & beans and rice.....It looked just like the Jerk Chicken wrap --- These two wraps should be VERY different, in my opinion...yet we couldn't even figure out where the hummus or the chicken was! My Mom was quite upset because now we were dealing with numerous errors. At first, the staff was actually defensive. JUST MAKE IT RIGHT -- don't give excuses. Once the staff member that was assembling the sandwiches agreed to remake both of our's again....it got better...but my Mom STILL could not find any hummus on her HUMMUS veggie wrap. Another thing that was off putting was the girl on the register getting involved in the situation. It really wasn't her place and she obviously was not a manager of any kind. The smoothies were good. The restaurant emptied while we were still there. Tables were cleared of any remaining trash (napkins, straw wrappers) but I did not see any staff members actually cleaning the tables. Yuck. My wife made me come here Sunday after I made her trek to the top of Bull Run Mountain. I dislike that they only have one size of smoothie. I am not a smoothie drinker but I would have gotten one if I did not have to get the jumbo size. Even for the the 24 oz size, I think $5 is a little too much. There were about five people in line in front of us so I must be in the minority. The fact that there were five people in front of us brings me to my next dislike. I was stuck putting together a meal for my daughter's athletic team and had very specific instructions on the parameters of the food I was able to serve. Healthy options was what the coach wanted for her athletes. Instead of doing the same deli sandwich from another sandwich shop or chicken meal from a fast-food place, I remembered to use Tropical Smoothie (always made fresh and it's a healthy option). THE COACH AND GIRLS WERE RAVING!!! The sandwiches were a HUGE hit! I got a variety, with the recommendation of the manager and immediately received a school discount because I was serving it to support my high school's athletic team! (Who knew!) They were beautifully crafted and displayed with a huge amount of meat, veggies, etc.! I wish I took a picture to show, but the girls dug in so quickly that I couldn't. The staff at the store had my order ready at my specific time of pick up and even color-coordinated the sandwiches with toothpicks and a "Sandwich Key" that explained which sandwich was which, based on the toothpick colors! How helpful and thoughtful! I HIGHLY recommend this store for ALL of your catering/food needs. I was floored at the prompt service, the highly designed and catered platter that I received, the immediate attention to supporting our schools, and how quick and easy the ordering process was. I truly love this place. Decently priced. Smoothies are huge and filling. Very tasty. You'd think at a smoothie place that the hot food wouldn't be that good but I had some beef and noodles and they were real good! A very rich taste when I wasn't expecting much. This is literally the worst Tropical Smoothie I've ever been to. Smoothies are watery EVERY time. Staff barely comes to the counter or they just chat with each other while you're waiting. If you order online the smoothies aren't kept refrigerated so they're melted before you even get there. Once I gave the cashier a gift card and then a dollar to cover the difference and the cashier puts in my dollar and hands me back my gift card with .48. Makes no sense at all. First time tried Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Sowder Village, Manassas Va. I ordered a cranberry truffle. The kids took their time making the drink while chatting with each other. The smoothie was bland. Couldn't even taste the cranberry, nor the strawberry, nor the white chocolate. It was not sweet. It was a bland fruit punch type slurrpee left alone for hours. The new management needs to crack down on the employees if they want to keep their regular customers. This incident has happened to me before, but never so blatantly. I ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 smoothies. The sandwiches came out in under 5 minutes, which was great. I then proceeded to wait an additional 20 minutes for the smoothies to be made, while I watched 5 (count them, FIVE) employees behind the front counter fool around, flirt, and ignore waiting customers. I've been a "regular" at this restaurant, as observed by my "Supercharged" status, but my last experience on August 31, 2019 was the last straw and I haven't returned since. The smoothies at this location have always been on the icee side, meaning there is more ice than fruit or juice, causing the smoothie to leave a significant amount of undrinkable residual. On my last visit it was so bad that I asked the team to reblend my smoothie after having been in the restaurant for ~30 minutes (it didn't melt after that long). Even after reblending, only about half of what was remaining was drinkable. I completed the survey at the bottom of the receipt that day to inform the team of my concern. Unfortunately, this wasn't the first time this happened at this location, but it was the worst time. More recently (October 2019) a new Tropical Smoothie location opened off Liberia and the smoothies there are great - nice and creamy, the way they should be. I hope this location can improve their smoothies and step up their service because the location is convenient, but not at the expense of a poor quality product. read more

This despite the fact there appear to be a half dozen or more young adults presenting themselves as employees running around behind the counter. We were investigating the area and found the Super Target when my husband noticed the smoothie place. In my head, I thought, Really? A smoothie place? Doesn't anyone remember what happened to TCBY? Every store I know of ,closed. But since I never really had a smoothie that didn't contain a massive amount of alcohol, I decided to go in. Immediately I liked the atmosphere. It has that Tropical feeling that I really learned to appreciate in the winter months. That's not what kept us coming back. The smoothies are incredible and now I can't go a week without having one. I never thought that Green Tea in a smoothie would be appealing until I tried it. My kids, who hate fruit, are actually starting to experiment. It's hard to try new flavors when the usual flavors are so addicting. The people here have always been nice and accommodating. They also have an interesting menu with lighter, less greasy food, but we get it fast. It can be pricey, so we don't eat there all the time, but the 15 we spend on the smoothies is such a indulgence. I received terrible customer service from the cashier. I went during lunch time (break time) and the cashier was so rude upfront. She was even rude the the customers that came in about 2 min after I did, and it was a father with his young child (age about 4-5 years old). The lady the served the food for my coworkers "To-Go" bag, dropped the bag on the floor and just handed it to my coworker as if she didn't just drop it and the sandwich came apart inside the bag. This lady didn't even say sorry! We get back to our office to eat our food and the chicken in my sandwich tasted weird and my lettuce looked old. The flat bread also tasted as if the towel rag that they used to clean the machine had been wiped on the flat bread too! I'm not an easy person to upset when going out to eat or to get easily bothered by petty things but today's experience at Tropical Smoothie bothered me completely!!! This is unacceptable. Whoever does the hiring should go over their policies for customer service as well as a policy when food is dropped and how to handle it with the customer. I recent started eating here everyday, and this location has the most consistent smoothies compared to all other locations. Everything, including wraps and sandwiches, is so fresh and delicious! My boyfriend and I came into your bristow town center store with high expectations. We've never had a bad experience in any of the TSC locations, until today. One of your employees was super nice and polite. She took our order and name, then we had a seat to wait. Unfortunately, we had to wait almost 15 minutes for two smoothies. I totally understand the stress level of making food for a dozens people on a hot day, so we didn't mind. After waiting for a few minutes longer, I walked to the counter only to be glared at by a fellow employee. I asked if they were making ours or we were in line, but non of them seemed to know what our order was. We were ok with waiting, but that one employee handled the situation the wrong way. We didn't get an apology, in fact we didn't get anything but a few more minutes to wait until our smoothie were finally made. While waiting, another customer had a question about his smoothie. Of course instead of apologizing and answering respectfully, she practically yelled at him and told him he was wrong. Anyways... our smoothies were great.
