This review is only for the smoothies. Came in here after a workout and was instantly greeted by the friendly staff. Ordered 2 peanut paradise smoothies that come with bananas, peanut butter, protein and yogurt. They were made pretty fast and only cost $11 for both. I didn't see a differentiation for sizes of smoothies so I'm unsure if they offer more than the large size I got. I'm intrigued by their sandwiches & other offerings so I plan to come back and will update my review once I do. read more

This is a great addition to the dunn loring area. I been here 4 times already so I knew now its time to write a review on the yummy fruity smoothies I had. When I first found out about this place I was skeptical with all the other smoothie places area here being not so my forte, but my friend told me how he goes here everyday so I decided its worth a try, and was it! The smoothies here are fresh and yummy they use fresh ingredients and cut the crappy processed stuff, the reason why a few people are complaining its bland here is because they expect to drink a smoothie with a bunch of sugar added to it, and that is not the point of Tropical Smoothie ^.^ The process they make smoothies is VERY basic, yes you can make it at home but when I go here I don't live in the Avenir apartments, SO I can't just go up and make myself a smoothie I'm usually running errands and dying of THIRST! That being said they also use professional blenders as silly as it might sound these little fellas are EXPENSIVE, so no I don't have that at home to make a super nice smoothie and I don't really have the money to want to drop for one either! :D plus I love how the staff here are so friendly and actually talk to you and they are really accommodating if you want to modify your order as well ( i replaced orange juice with mangoes instead) I have been here during the late morning, early afternoon, and evening. Sometime there usually is a line, and if there is be patient! Some people complain how it takes so long, well you can't rush good smoothies! It's not a huge store but its very clean and nice inside. The smoothies are just so delicious that I'm thinking of just drinking more smoothies than having ice cream this summer! Yes the price is a little high but the cup you get is huge (24oz) and it does last me a day or so. (I freeze the rest) If you just want to try it with someone as your first time as them to provide you separate cups that way its much easier and you basically pay the price for one instead of two. (beware you both won't get a huge 24 oz cup lol) Next time I swing go I might just go try one of their flatbread looks tasty to me! Also beware of parking is free (for 2 hours) but after that you have the chance of getting towed (I know people who have) and sometimes it can get very packed and hard to find parking on Thursdays, Fridays and the weekend! read more

I had to review this place on the customer service alone. My boyfriend and I often come in for smoothies and/or food and each time the staff is amazing. Whether it's a friendly greeting when entering or exiting, or answering any questions we may have about the menu. The staff is both attentive and accommodating and I appreciate that each time I come in, it actually makes me want to continue coming in because I'm sure the smoothies taste so good because of the friendliness of the staff, if that's possible lol read more

The pros: extremely goof smoothies. Go for the smoothie, don't deviate. My favorite is the Green Island. The cons: They put a lot of sugar in the smoothie unless you tell them not to. If you get a regular Green Island, it has sugar. The detox version is sugar free, and tastes just as good. The food is hit or miss. read more

The staff here are very friendly and enthusiastic! That's something that, unfortunately, you don't see at too many other places these days. As for the smoothies, so far, I've had the Island Green, the Detox Island Green, and the Health Nut, and I've enjoyed them all. Today, I decided to give their Sriracha flatbread a try. It was excellent. Highly recommended! If you're near the Dunn-Loring Metro, definitely give Tropical Smoothie a try! My only other recommendation among the restaurants here is Spice 6 Modern Indian, which is my favorite. Visit all other establishments at your own risk. read more

Excellent! My husband and I love Tropical Smoothie Cafe and frequent many different locations. Although they are all well-managed, friendly, fresh, and of course delicious, this is by far our favorite location. From the second you open the door you know this establishment doesn't cut any corners- the beautifully healthy money tree tells all! For those who believe in the Money Tree tradition, or at least you're I know it, a healthy Money Tree indicates a good business. The reason being it takes time and dedication to maintain a money tree which then symbolizes the time and dedication put into the business. I was very pleased and excited to see that they, not only had a money tree, but it was in exceptional condition- exactly as I found the condition of this restaurant to be in. I feel like such a sucker for not realizing how awesome Tropical Smoothie Cafe is! I have been walking past this location for more than a year, and I only just recently realized they sell food here, and darn good food at that! I'm not a big smoothie drinker so this review is based only on the food, and actually solely the buffalo chicken wrap with veggie chicken. I know I should try more food but so far I can't bring myself to order anything else. This is a flavor and texture combination that you can't get very many places as a vegetarian, and to say I've missed it would be an understatement. I truly appreciate having an option for a quick sandwich that is vegetarian, relatively low-calorie, filling, and not composed primarily of cheese. It's true that the veggie chicken is not the most accurate imitation, but that comes with the territory. They also offer an non-chip side option (kale slaw) that is actually enticing enough that I don't crave chips with my wrap, and also contains vegetables so I can further pat myself on the back for being the World's Healthiest Man(TM). Service is always quick and polite, the only problem is how much I have to resist grabbing food here when I walk by! read more

This place is great! We got two orders of tacos (2 each) and added a smoothie for only $3.49. Out of the four tacos, the steak ones are the best, but I must say there were too many cucumbers... It's great place for dining in or taking out. Great, modern atmosphere with a beach town feel. I had the pleasure of attending their launch opening event this month and was very impressed not only with the food quality, but also with the owner Trung, the General Manager Larry, and the entire staff. It's a great spot and there is free parking across the street in the parking garage...just remember to push the button on the parking meter to activate the 2 hour free parking time. I checked out this place because I had a craving for a smoothie and they are right across from my apartment, so I had to try out their exotic flavors that they offer. My first visit I had the avocado kale smoothie, which was amazing. I also have had the Chia banana smoothie, which was equally delicious. They are very hearty and thick. We came to this area to eat at the Halal guys but after seeing the crazy line surpassing 100 feet, we decided to eat at tropical smoothie café.
