    Grilled Caesar Salad

We enjoyed a last minute dinner at Troquet in the middle of the week and it was just what we needed. Made a last minute rez on Open Table and when we arrived, we were sat right away. When we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised how the restaurant was separated. The front of the restaurant housed the bar area, which was very lively. We were seated in the back of the restaurant where we enjoyed a nice quiet dinner. The service was fast and efficient. We ordered drinks straightaway and shortly after that, we received unexpected butter service with the most delicious dinner rolls I have ever had. Dinner was yummy. For appetizers, we ordered a delicious grilled cesar salad, and ¨chips and dip.¨My hubby ordered halibut and I ordered the chicken. We also ordered potatoes. Next time we will try other entrees but hope for the same amazing bread and butter service!

This is a hidden gem. Amazing 7 course tasting menu for $155. They give you so much food. Most tasting menus I need a slice of pizza after The front bar is very loud so try to get seating in the back. Pretty dark inside so great for a romantic date. Service was very knowledgeable and quick. A bit on the stiff side though. 1)Scallop crudo pluot dashi- fresh scallop with good refreshing flavor 4/5 2)lobster Newburg with poached egg 5/5 so much flavor and lobster was very tender. Lots of lobster too! 3) Foie gras brandy jam and appercot 4/5. This was nice can't go wrong with foie gras 4)4Pork Bucatini with peach- a thick pasta dish with delicious pork sausage and peaches 5/5 very good 5) ribeye with potato robuchon, crispy garlic, 5/5 perfectly cooked lots of flavor 6) cheese board. 5/5 great selection 7) chocolate tort with cherries 5/5 rich and decadent. Perfect end to a meal Highly recommend! Hidden gem!

Gotta love a 2-for-1 spot! Great food and wine in the front--amazing speakeasy in the back. Dinner has been amazing (I highly recommend the Duck) and the wine list is the size of an encyclopedia. The staff suggested at least 6 wines for our meal and didn't hesitate to bring us samples to try. Of course this story wouldn't be complete without a mention of the Off Suit speakeasy. You COULD go through the alley and do all the secret phone number stuff or if you're nice to the front of the spot, they'll let you in through the main restaurant. Vinyl is spinning and the drinks are STRONG. 1 is not enough, but 2 might be too many. I like the "No Standing" rule in here; keeps the space flowing and doesn't allow for it to get too crowded. The ambiance is intimate and dark which brings you in close to your guests. The perfect nightcap to an amazing dinner

5 Course Tasting Menu (December 2023): Crème brûlée

A wonderful restaurant to enjoy a special occasion or slightly casual dinner at. -Atmosphere- The atmosphere is reminiscent of a warm French bistro on a chilly fall/winter night with an extensive selection of wines to help get the evening going. -Food- The food was fantastic when we were there; the grilled duck was cooked perfectly with a wonderfully smoky char and was seasoned beautifully, the scallop was tender with good sear followed by a savory sauce, and the bread rolls were exquisite (a delicate crust on the outside and a yeasted subtly sweet and fluffy interior with a great chew that is reminiscent of a Japanese style Hokkaido milk roll)! -Service- The service was good, though the timing on some of our dishes was a little off (nothing to complain about, just wanted to note). Additional Notes: -Our Chef 5 Course had 7 dishes -The 5 Course doesn't include a wine pairing -Photos included are raw (unedited)

    Luckwarm Petite Steak Frites

Not so great tonight. I ordered petite steak frite, medium rare, the steak arrived at room temperature, and I asked for it to be heated, it returned no warmer. The flavor was good but you do need to serve a steak hot if you are a French bistro. The frites were piping hot at least. Otherwise we sampled the ricotta starter and the bluefish pate which were fine. Our waiter comped the steak frites, which was nice.

Fantastic waitstaff at the bar. The branzino was cooked to perfection! The grilled salad was good too. The baby firefly was great!

Good food in a friendly environment and great service. They were open to change the seven course menu as some people in our party had restrictions

Amazing wine selection at a great price point. Good atmosphere and excelled service. The owner was there and very helpful choosing wine from this cellar. Steak had an amazing flavor and prepared to perfection!

Solid place for some delicious food in Boston. The building and interior is great. Service is excellent. They have patio dining that is perfect during the summer and a very extensive wine list. The bartender makes great cocktails and was able to make my favorite paper plane cocktail just how I like it. This is great place for date night and romantic celebrations. Downside is lack of parking. There's also a really cool speakeasy bar in the back that you should check out.

Solid offering of French classics. The foie gras torchon was a particular favorite, but everything was well executed and delicious!

Great food and ambience. I highly recommended for a high-end or a casual French dinner. It also has a real cool speakeasy in the back.

Ask the Community - Troquet on South

What is acceptable dining attire for this restaurant for men and women?

I usually wear a jacket (no tie) to show respect for one of our better restaurants. But in this day and age, there will be some jeans in the dining room and certainly in the bar. It's not a stuffy place, so don't stress about it

    What is the noise level?

Never a problem! Quiet to moderate at worst. Maybe a bit louder when the bar is full at happy hour, but even that is a bit separated from the dining room.

Their menu online looked great and we were able to walk in with no reservations early on a Friday night, although they were starting to fill up more as we left. The crab cake was delish & my baby devoured most of it. The salmon salad was tasty but the salmon itself was very salty, salt was literally all I could taste. The lettuce was very crisp and fresh and everything else was good so I didn't feel the need to complain also with the consideration that the chef intended to make the salmon salty to pair with the rest of the dish. The vibe was nice, a bit elevated. My server Michael was great! I would definitely order the crab cake again and try many other items on the menu that all looked superb. Thanks Moxies!

It was a Sunday night and we didn't feel like going far for a meal. That's when we put the voucher to use as the Capiz is in the lobby of the hotel. We went for an early dinner. Walking into the restaurant, no one was there to greet us and there was no host stand. Finally, a server (who also turned out to be our server) told us to pick where we wanted to sit. We chose a four-top table. When it was time to order, we were dealing with a limited menu. I chose lobster quesadillas, which were listed under "appetizers". My husband chose the fish and chips. The quesadilla was sloppily made. Some pieces had hardly any cheese or lobster in them. Other pieces were overloaded with lobster and cheese. While it was all edible and the lobster was properly cooked, it still was underwhelming. My husband said the fish was well prepared, flaky and crispy at the same time. There were too many French fries, making the plate a bit messy. In a pinch, Capiz did fit the bill as we didn't feel like going far for a meal that day.
