By night, this is a fancy restaurant with an exceptional wine list. But I'm not here to review that; I want to talk about lunch and their double-cheeseburger and their hotdog. The double cheeseburger is sublime, with bacon, onion jam, and secret sauce -- you'll NEVER guess what the secret sauce is :) It's definitely a top-10 Boston burger. And as for their hotdog, major kudos to them for keeping alive the Boston Speed Dog, long gone but not forgotten. A half-pounder with relish, chili sauce, mustard, and onion. I loved everything about this restaurant. The service was first rate with a knowledgeable wait staff that seemed to always appear just when you needed them, but never a moment before. One of our party was a vegan, and they graciously accommodated an entire vegan meal and even prepared a vegan dessert without prompting. The chef came out and discussed it with us personally. The food was excellent and everyone loved their meal. The overall ambience and vibe of the restaurant was pitch perfect. This was my first trip to Troquet and this restaurant will definitely make my list of places to which I'd love to return. read more

Food was tasty, but we were left... dissappointed. To start, our cocktails were short pours and one martini had a sticky stem. Next, I enjoyed the strawberry salad and my husband had the garlic soup - in the tiniest soup bowl we've ever seen! AND the soup pour was also short. When the manager came by to ask how our appetizers were, I complained about the miniature soup serving and explained that we have fine dined throughout the world and never before had such a small soup course. While she said she'd talk with the chef, there was no apology. We shared an entree of duck breast with luxardo cherries on a bed of lentils which was tender and tasty, however there was not a single cherry on the plate, just the sauce. We complained to our waitress since this was the main reason we ordered this dish and she brought us a few to add to the duck dish. And again no apology for the oversight. We enjoyed a last minute dinner at Troquet in the middle of the week and it was just what we needed. Made a last minute rez on Open Table and when we arrived, we were sat right away. When we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised how the restaurant was separated. The front of the restaurant housed the bar area, which was very lively. We were seated in the back of the restaurant where we enjoyed a nice quiet dinner. The service was fast and efficient. We ordered drinks straightaway and shortly after that, we received unexpected butter service with the most delicious dinner rolls I have ever had. Dinner was yummy. For appetizers, we ordered a delicious grilled cesar salad, and ¨chips and dip.¨My hubby ordered halibut and I ordered the chicken. We also ordered potatoes. Next time we will try other entrees but hope for the same amazing bread and butter service! read more

This is a hidden gem. Amazing 7 course tasting menu for $155. They give you so much food. Most tasting menus I need a slice of pizza after The front bar is very loud so try to get seating in the back. Pretty dark inside so great for a romantic date. Service was very knowledgeable and quick. Gotta love a 2-for-1 spot! Great food and wine in the front--amazing speakeasy in the back. Dinner has been amazing (I highly recommend the Duck) and the wine list is the size of an encyclopedia. The staff suggested at least 6 wines for our meal and didn't hesitate to bring us samples to try. Of course this story wouldn't be complete without a mention of the Off Suit speakeasy. You COULD go through the alley and do all the secret phone number stuff or if you're nice to the front of the spot, they'll let you in through the main restaurant. Vinyl is spinning and the drinks are STRONG. 1 is not enough, but 2 might be too many. I like the "No Standing" rule in here; keeps the space flowing and doesn't allow for it to get too crowded. We've been to Troquet a few times a year since they opened and haven't left a review but tonight reminded us we should. It is a wonderful experience starting when we were seated and they didn't crowd us next to other diners but spaced us out as the crowd allowed. Service was impeccable especially Anthony the bar tender and our waitress (but we didn't get her name) as well as the runners from the kitchen. The cocktails were spot on - even for the picky martini snob amongst us - and the food was fantastic. We had razor clams, chips and duck all prepared to perfection. read more

A wonderful restaurant to enjoy a special occasion or slightly casual dinner at. -Atmosphere- The atmosphere is reminiscent of a warm French bistro on a chilly fall/winter night with an extensive selection of wines to help get the evening going. -Food- The food was fantastic when we were there; the grilled duck was cooked perfectly with a wonderfully smoky char and was seasoned beautifully, the scallop was tender with good sear followed by a savory sauce, and the bread rolls were exquisite (a delicate crust on the outside and a yeasted subtly sweet and fluffy interior with a great chew that is reminiscent of a Japanese style Hokkaido milk roll)! -Service- The service was good, though the timing on some of our dishes was a little off (nothing to complain about, just wanted to note). Not so great tonight. I ordered petite steak frite, medium rare, the steak arrived at room temperature, and I asked for it to be heated, it returned no warmer. The flavor was good but you do need to serve a steak hot if you are a French bistro. The frites were piping hot at least. Otherwise we sampled the ricotta starter and the bluefish pate which were fine. Our waiter comped the steak frites, which was nice. read more

Absolutely outstanding! Picked this restaurant on a whim and will definitely be back. Our servers were incredibly attentive and made sure we didn't need for anything. We dined on their patio and it's a quiet street so perfect location. We started out with the Veuve for the table, the cheese plate, charcuterie and the tuna tartare. The tuna tartare is a small portion, so it's best for sharing with maybe one other person. The cheese plate and the charcuterie were both really phenomenal and I enjoyed the toasted bread that came with the cheese and that was my favorite appetizer. I ended up ordering the black bass as my entrée, and I loved that it was a good serving of food, but not very heavy. My other guests ordered the scallops with cornbread, which got good reviews, and a salad. I think this is a fantastic restaurant for those looking for a low key, but high quality restaurant option. read more

Post-COVID, I've been outside here after work (unfortunately, no happy hour anymore) for the famous Speed Dog and beer, and inside a couple of times, including for a 7-person celebratory business dinner, and it is still my favorite Boston-area restaurant. Fantastic food, and of course wines (just leave the choice to Chris, and you'll be very happy), and very good service. Solid place for some delicious food in Boston. The building and interior is great. Service is excellent. They have patio dining that is perfect during the summer and a very extensive wine list. The bartender makes great cocktails and was able to make my favorite paper plane cocktail just how I like it. This is great place for date night and romantic celebrations. Downside is lack of parking. There's also a really cool speakeasy bar in the back that you should check out. read more

The food is good. Oysters were fresh and delicious, and the Steak was cooked to perfection and served with some greens on the side. Wish the steak was bigger though. The price on the other hand, is not as friendly. Maybe I'm new to Boston, but the prices here exceed NYC prices, which is crazy. The portions are not very big, and I would expect the average person to spend around $80+ here with a single drink, and likely $100+ to fill yourself up a bit more and drink more. It is a nice spot and the cooking is high caliber, but man it is really expensive. read more

We came here when we were waiting to get into Offsuit and we really didn't have any expectations. The service was great, LOVED the inside with the white brick and high top wood tables. We got the cookies and bourbon milk and seriously-- what a combination! I would've never thought to pair the two and it was just wonderful. My Amex Concierge booked this dinner reservation for us and WOW, it far exceeded our expectations. Every bite of everything was phenomenal. The Caesar salad appetizer with crispy shallots had a smoked flavor, the artichoke appetizer was so different and tasty, the pan seared scallop dish with puréed turnip was perfect, risotto was best my sister ever had, the duck with gnocchi, shaved asparagus... lastly the Lemon Curd with Fig was perfect! service also 5*****!!! Awful experience a few of my colleagues and I went in for drinks after work. Whoever the guy at the front desk is he shouldn't be working in any form of service industry. Incredibly rude and abrasive individual not only to us but the gentleman that was in front of us that was trying to join his party that was already seated. He asked me how he should speak to people and I just shook my head and we walked out. Apparently I am not alone in my feelings on this guy as I read through the other reviews. Can't say anything about the food or bar bc never made it past the insane "security guard" standing at the hosts desk and I guess I will never find out. read more

Kind of an old fashioned, European vibe with thick banquettes and white tablecloths. Saturday night in summer, and the place was empty - we were literally the only table filled in the dining room. They said "it's quiet during the summer." Still, the vibe is a bit "old" and the menu is solid but probably also a bit stale. A lot of this place feel like "been there, done that," without the fun atmosphere of say Aquitaine not too far away. The food itself was solid, and very tasty - but I didn't feel passion from the kitchen. The duck was very tasty, and the pork chops - two, actually - were brined and possessed a "ham-like" flavor; not bad at all. Although I could only eat one of the chops, I enjoyed the flavor with a nice glass of burgundy. Oysters were perfectly shucked and fresh (from Maine). Cheese course for dessert is highly recommended. Overall, the food is above average, but the whole vibe is a generation too late. The same cooks are employed in all of the area restaurants, and the previous days of a real chef-driven restaurant I think has passed us in many ways. This was THE it spot for Valentine's Day. Their pre fix menu was on the ball and a night to remember. The staff was very attentive and walked around with ready-to-pour champagne. We started with the grilled octopus and foie gras. Was given a small oyster and caviar amuse bouche. We then recieved our entrees with lobster risotto and scallops and a filet. Desserts were eye catching and whimsical. It started out great with the oysters and charcuterie. The entrees fell flat. The mushroom risotto was okay and the carbonara was not good at all. Flavorless and stiff. Our server disappeared for most of the meal and made no effort in making this a special experience. Very dry and uninterested. Definitely didn't notice we stopped enjoying our time. Came in on a visit with some work colleagues. Ordered cheese plate which was tasty and triple cream Brie was a standout! Fresh hot chiabatta rolls and copious butter refills kept us busy until mains arrived. The foie gras was great albeit small. Tuna tartare was good as well. We split risotto , chicken and Bouillabaisse. Chicken came deconstructed/ carved up but tasty . The Bouillabaisse was good but felt bit watered down. This was my first indoor dining experience with friends since Covid. We had great expectations and Troquet fulfilled every. single. one. of them. Our reservation for 4 was ready to go as soon as we arrived, and Nate took great care of us. We started with the Housemade Ricotta and Focaccia, Scallop Crudo, Steak Tartare, and Hudson Valley Foie Gras which is served on the most delicious zucchini bread. I've been dreaming of that zucchini bread. Our entrees were all delicous as well, the highlights were the Maine Lobster Roll with old bay aioli (mmmm old bay) and the Hudson Valley Duck Breast was TO DIE for. My toughest challenge of the night was choosing a cocktail because they all looked so good. I'd recommend the Northern Bandit for any mezcal fans. We went a few weeks ago. We were in town for hubby's 50th birthday and this meal was the first we'd had indoors since Covid began. I was admittedly a bit nervous, but it wasn't crowded and there was plenty of space. Our server/bar tender, Will, truly made the experience. He makes a mean drink and was funny, friendly and just a good guy. We realized that months of take-out was a pale substitute when presented with a hot, fresh dinner roll. I went to my friends bday on a Saturday and we were about 15 some seating on the table others around the bar. I also liked very much the decor with the chic style. Went to Troquet last night for our 3 year anniversary. The table was ready when we walked in, our server, Ksenia, was the IDEAL mixture of friendly, and attentive while giving us ample space to enjoy each others company. (Even suggester a menu item that was not listed, a GREAT move!) We ordered 3 apps, 2 cocktails, a bottle of wine and two entrees; everything was phenomenal. This was an incredible dining experience in a very low key environment. Ksenia was one of the best servers we've ever had and I would recommend Troquet to anyone looking for a romantic or intimate dinner setting. Thank you Troquet! We will be back! read more

The Pot au Feu is delicious! The beef was soooooo tender. I wish I can go back there and get that dish again! Came here on Friday for lunch and was not disappointed. The service was great, got to briefly meet the owner as well. He was very down to earth, super nice guy! I had a glass of the Canard-Duchêne Brut Rosé ($29.50 for a glass), it was definitely refreshing. I forgot what I had for the second glass, but it was a Krug Champagne ($44.50 for a glass) also very good! Would love to come back for dinner time or for the bar menu!
