So my typical rule of thumb is that if a Mexican restaurant is touting its tequila or margaritas... the food isn't that good and the typical customer has has too much to drink by the time the subpar food arrives to really notice or care. Tamazcal is a notable exception. I have no idea if it's tequila is any good, but the food is well prepared with great flavors. The only thing holding me back from a five is the lack of outdoor heaters out on its waterfront seating. C'mon now, it's Boston- invest in a damn heater. read more

Seriously, I was surprised by how many stars it had! Honestly, I had no idea what to expect from a Mexican place in Boston. Wow! What a great surprise. Their tequila and mezcal list is huge, so I went with the mezcal margarita. So good! The food was amazing. Those skirt steak and chorizo fajitas? OMG, incredible. And the portions? I had leftovers for lunch the next day! Even the chips and salsa were delicious. My friend got tacos and said they were so good she's already planning her next visit. We chose Temazcal Cantina for the wharf view. The specials sounded pretty good--an adobe braised short ribs with asparagus with mac & queso migas. This was good, plentiful but on the tough side. I chose the special-- grilled salmon with apricot glaze, which they happily grilled in butter instead of industrial seed oils or soy. the filet was very generous and the topping, I wished for more, was delicious. If the short ribs had been more tender, I would give this place a higher rating, but they were a bit disappointing, even though the taste was excellent. We'd probably go again and order a different combo. That view is wonderful. Sofia was very helpful and attentive, and made our dinner quite enjoyable. read more

Temazcal was a last minute decision before catching our flight. It's located right on the waterfront. As soon as you enter, you can tell it's a nice place restaurant. There's a nicely decorated host/hostess area that is at the entrance of of a hall that takes you to the back of the building that opens up to a nice dinning area. There is a fully stocked bar and spacious patio seating along the water. The menu is fairly priced because the food is very good. You'll have no problem finding something you'd be interested in trying. The shrimp fajitas are definitely a must try dish. The guacamole was very good. The service was great too. If you enjoy Mexican food and appreciate flavorful dishes, it's worth a visit. read more

While at Boston Logan international airport I find myself in terminal B. Terminal B is a long looping terminal. Which means locating food to be a long walk or at least food that you want to have. I asked Siri to find me the restaurants that were in terminal B. Siri came up with a number of different offerings but nothing that really matched what I was looking for restaurants at terminal B. I found this little Mexican restaurant and went to the bar. At the bar I found the new trend which is a QR code which opens not only a menu but the way to order. it is my experience that men use like that so very limited and it was the same in this case. no freedom for the bartender to get creative no freedom for the kitchen to get creative just the standard items on the limited menu. My chicken quesadillas were fine my margarita was fine I would've just like more variety. My suggestion is to walk all of terminal B because as you move farther around on the United side and American side you'll find more and more restaurants and choices in terminal B so before you pick one check out all of your options. read more

We were here on a Monday night. It was a great atmosphere. We sat at the bar and watched the hockey game. Chips,salsa,bean dip to start and all three had great flavors. I had the tortilla soup, it came out with queso, jalapeños, tortilla strips and avocado that you can mix in yourself. The wife had chicken tacos, there were two and they had a pretty good portion of chicken also with great flavor. We tried the traditional and primo margaritas. This extended weekend trip to Boston has surpassed my expectations. Since arriving here, I've experienced a great lunch, breakfast and cocktails but Temazcal was my first dinner. It's always great to kickoff a long weekend out of town with a fabulous meal.  Temazcal Tequila Cantina delivers on so many levels and the fact that it's a restaurant with a waterfront view takes it to another level. There are certainly other competitor in the area but not to worry because Temazcal Tequila Cantina is second to none. The service is top notch and certainly matched everything else I loved about this restaurant. I enjoyed a delicious plate of chicken enchiladas with chips and salsa. After looking up a ton of places to dine in Boston during a trip I decided to book a reservation at Temazcal. I would suggest you reserve just in case it gets busy. I also had a party of 6 so I wanted to make sure we'd get a table. At first they tried to seat us at a booth that only fit 4 but I told who seemed like the manager that this was not going to work. He was very nice about it and agreed and accommodated us quickly. We were seated at our new table. The decor is really nice. It's elegantly chic and very spacious. They have a full bar and even lots of outdoor seating with a view. Our waitress was really nice but she seemed a bit confused with how to do her job. She forgot to bring one of us the drinks we ordered and failed to tell us the mac and cheese has spice and it was supposed to be for my little niece. We ordered the pitcher of sangria. It was enough for 4 glasses. It tasted so good. I love sangria so I was very happy about this. My sister had a margarita and enjoyed it too. We had the guac and chips and they gave us other sauces, including salsa. It all tasted really good. For my entree I ordered the Grilled Skirt Steak Tampiquena. It definitely was spicy and I don't usually like spice but the flavors were delicious. I ate it all beside the flautas, which I gave to my mom because she likes it. I came here for a happy hour with my coworkers during the day time and was very pleased with my experience! First of all, the views of the water are amazing and you can see them from almost any seat in the restaurant. The staff was excellent, generously restocking our chips and salsa as well as making sure we had everything we needed frequently. The skinny margarita I had was outstanding! The chips alone are awesome but the black bean dip and salsa that comes with it make them irresistible. Also loved the guac we ordered. Temazcal Cantina is a beautiful restaurant right on the waterfront. The space is pretty big with both indoor and outdoor seating options. I came here with a large group of 13 from work for lunch on a weekday. We started off the lunch with tortilla chips and salad/guacamole. The guacamole was decent but lacked some flavor, not enough lime and garlic. There were 3 salsas: mild, sweet, and hot. The hot salsa, which was not very spicy, was the favorite at the table. Unfortunately, the chips were not great; they were bit dry and lacked salt. It took some time before we could get our lunch orders placed but the food did not take too long to come out. I ordered the shrimp fajitas with corn tortillas. The shrimp was a bit overcooked and some of them were burnt and could not finish the dish. Despite liking the space and the view of the waterfront, I was underwhelmed with the food. If I were to come again, maybe I would not order the items we had ordered on this visit. read more

The inside of the restaurant is quite large (big bar in the back), has nice lighting (chandeliers) and decor (beautiful pictures on the walls), but certain spots are VERY bright with very loud music (hard to hear the person across from you). Service was attentive at first, but by the second half of the meal was nowhere to be found. Went on a Sunday and the restaurant was dead, so not sure what happened to the service, or where they went! As for the actual food, pretty average Mexican food. Tried the queso fundido, which was an odd consistency and texture, but it tasted ok and paired great with the soft, grilled flour tortillas (in addition to nachos). I ordered the steak fajitas (since steak tacos are not an option) and thought there wasn't enough meat, and WAY too many onions. Needed a little extra seasoning as well. Street corn was again just mediocre, definitely missing seasoning as well (they were nice enough to cut it off the cob for me though). Ordered two different types of spicy margaritas and didn't love either one. Thought both were bitter, didn't have great flavor, and were very weak. You may like the drinks here if you're a tequila fan, since they offer over 250 different types; but not a fan of the mixed drinks. read more

We stumbled into Temazcal after we realized the restaurant we initially wanted to patronized didn't offered outdoor seating. Boy, was I happy with our decision! Temazcal had outdoor seating on a beautiful patio right on the water. The views were absolutely amazing! The tables were spaced out six feet or more and the staff, who were very friendly and professional, was consistently cleaning as guest left, so we felt comfortable dining at Temazcal. Since we were in Boston, trying a lobster dish was a must and the lobster guacamole did not disappoint! It was so fresh and mixed with the other ingredients, it was different taste yet very tasteful. They start you off with freshly made chips, and 3 different salsas: a black refried bean sauce (I think), a spicy red sauce, and a sweet green sauce. I liked all of them! We started with the queso fundido, which is warm cheese fondue with grilled flour tortillas. The queso was very warm and was some of the best queso I've ever had. I had the fish tacos (fried fish, pickled cabbage, avocado, pico de gallo, chipotle aioli, and flour tortillas). It was one of the best fish tacos I've ever had, but couldve been better if they went with grilled fish over fried. The cod was very nice and filling. Tacos are quite large. My fiancé had the Verde Enchilladas with roasted chicken, corn tortilla, queso fresco, Mexican rice, verde sauce, and crema Fresca. We stood at a back ledge area running perpendicular to the bar and hung out. While the bartender was really nice, unfortunately the host/manager was down right hostile as was the water person. The host/manger came up to us and told us to stand in a straight line and literally knocked into my friend without an acknowledgement as she pushed past us. We had a great time at Temazcal on a Friday night for dinner. Thankfully we were able to walk in without a reservation :) The location is great (although near the end of the main Seaport drag) and our table faced the water so we had a great view, the restaurant isn't overly cramped so we had room to spread out, and of course the food and service was really good. We tried the guacamole app (so delicious and creamy), the chicken fajitas (huge portion), and the verde enchiladas (my personal favorite). We also had a few margaritas and tried a tequila tasting flight which I really enjoyed. The bill was pricey but not anything crazy compared to other places in the area. Food was alright. Service was very poor, which is my primary complaint. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was not busy, and there were many members of the wait staff congregating and casually chatting near the bar. This is relevant later. We placed our order including five entrees. The food took about 45 minutes to arrive, and during this time we asked our waiter at least twice for a water refill to no avail (no pitcher was left and our glasses were completely empty, and it was 82 degrees outside on the back deck). When the food did arrive - only 4 entrees arrived. I asked the server where the fifth entree was, and he "[was] going to check". Nobody came back to our table for nearly 15 minutes. We never learned what happened to the fifth entree. We also ordered two kids meals which were supposed to come with drinks and desert. The waiter was also supposedly checking on those, and they also never materialized. We did eventually get a water refill - exactly once - after sitting there for an hour - after we had asked several times. Bottom line, we were there for 90 minutes and ended up getting food on par with Chipotle. It was fine - nothing bad - nothing special - but far pricier than alternatives. Also, much of it didn't arrive. If the staff had been overwhelmed by tons of customers or plagued by absences, I would have understood why the service was so poor. However, the wait staff were chatting together and just not making customers a priority. I left a 10% tip - something I haven't done in at least a decade. I can't speak to the bar - I'm sure the service would be different there. I can't recommend any table service here though. I won't return. read more
