I just adore the Vegan Big Dill pizza- without the pickles (pickles are my enemy). It is just sooooo good. It reminds me of a (nonvegan) chicken ranch pizza I used to get many years ago from a place in the Midwest called La Rosas. The crust on the big dill itself seems to have a softer, more pillowy texture than the other pizzas I've tasted here- maybe it's because of the oily garlic base seeping through? I don't know how but it's highly appreciated especially for those who have chewing problems with rock hard or too chewy crusts. The pizza has a garlic base and vegan cheese and ranch on top, and a vegan bacon that somehow has the same smokey bacon-y flavor as I recall real bacon has. Troy's is one of the most interesting Italian pizza joints you'll ever experience. I think Troy has worked hard on his menu and managed to offer some fairly tasty, vegan and meat based Italian dishes. During the course of our meal we were able to chat with him a bit and we learned that his vegan chicken wings are his best seller. Will be back to try them but on this visit I had a Vegan Chick'n Parmesan Sandwich. The roll was nicely toasted and the marinara sauce had a nice spicy flavor. The "chicken" was most likely a soy based protein. It had a decent, familiar texture. All in all the sandwich came together well. We also ordered a Meatball, Steak & Cheese, and a Vegan Meatball Marinara Sandwich, along with some fries. All the sammies were tasty; Troy gives you a nice portion of fries, and a small bag of Utz chips are served with the sandwiches. My friend and I ordered Troy's delivery one night because she loves their Vegan options. She's a big fan of their chicken tikka masala pizza so I went with that and she got the vegan option. The pizza was still super fresh and hot when it was delivered. The pizza was perfectly cooked and the flavor was unique. Fast service and friendly employees. I repeatedly order their vegan elote pizza. It's so good! As a vegan it's as close I'm getting to the real version. The combined flavors of the corn, vegan cheese, elote sauce (chipotle vegan Mayo), and green onions are amazing and the soft/slight crispy crust is good too! My pizza was burned to a crisp. The bottom of it looks, smells and tastes like charcoal. I can't eat it. I called to complain and the gentleman said - this is not an exaggeration - "it's not our fault. We were busy." Here's how they handled it; first he said he would make me a new pizza, but only if I came and picked it up (I had the first one delivered). When I told him I was unable to do that, he said "okay, I can have a new pizza delivered to you at 11 am tomorrow morning." Yes. He burned my pizza, ruined my dinner, and his solution was to bring me a pizza for breakfast. Burned food. Unwilling to make it right by bringing me a new one. Rude. I do the "create your own pizza" option with fresh garlic and excessive amounts of cheese - feta, provolone and goat cheese in addition to, I would assume, the regular cheese. Ordered here because of the rave reviews! I got a good assortment of items on the menu. I really enjoyed my eggplant parmigiana and spaghetti, best I've had in the DC area. The vegan pizza wasn't great. I had one slice and tossed out the rest. The "cheese" was sticky and slimy in texture. The garlic knots while warm and soft, were almost completely flavorless. Their pizza is standard crust not so that different than chain pizza places but their vegan toppings set them apart. It's like my prayers have been answered. There's finally a somewhat decent place in Crystal City to get delivery from. I mean, seriously people, we have a problem when my go to place is Dominos. I've been making my rounds through GrubHub, trying to do the Yelp comparison etc. and saw that Troy's was new in town. I have ordered delivery 3 times now, so I'm hoping the luck factor is out. Admittedly, the same dish (spaghetti and meatballs) and it's consistently good. Not like mind blowing by any means, but it's better than what I can whip up (though, I suppose, that's hardly a complement), and it doesn't leave me annoyed at how much money I've spent. Also, delivery has been consistently within the time window (and generally way faster), and, on top of that, my food comes smoking hot. I'm reserving the 2 last stars because there a few things that keep it from being a stellar experience. The minimum dollar amount makes it so I have to order something else. I've gotten the mozzarella sticks and...well... sorry Troy's, but they're terrible. I've actually never seen such poorly made mozzarella sticks. I've also tried the cannolis- decent. But I don't have much of a sweet tooth, and on top of that, the sides/apps options are quite limited so there's not too much to choose from when it comes to add ons, so it's hard when ordering for one. Hubs and I ordered Uber Eats delivery from here this evening. I guess you only get a good filling meal here if you are ordering vegan food! My husbands chicken caesar wrap was literally half the size of anywhere else we order food from. And almost $9 for 4 1 inch cannolis is way too expensive. We paid $15 for a pizza that was quite bland even with pepperoni but at least they got the extra cheese topping right and I love cheese so that was the positive part! Most of the food was too small and too over priced to order from here again. This meal left both of us feeling quite disappointed. read more

As I stood there, it seemed that the expediting was a little chaotic and I was not very confident that the right food was going in the right bag. Was running errands around the neighborhood and needed to wait for jewelry to get engraved. Saw a sign for $5.99 deal of 2 slices and a soda. I went inside and there was only cheese pizza really available. Which I'm fine with, I usually judge a pizza place by it's plain cheese pizza. The gentleman was on the phone, but asked me what I wanted and I replied the 2 slice deal. He did inquire if I wanted cheese, I gave the thumbs up. While he retrieved two slices to throw in the oven, he pointed me to the fridge to grab a can of soda. Perfect- Covid19, no need to use the shared fountain machine. What goes well with pizza, it's coke. I grabbed one and a straw. The gentleman wrapped up the call and grabbed 2 slice boxes. He checked the pizza and then placed them in the boxes and I was done. Short and sweet. The only thing that irks me...during these times...was that he was not wearing a mask, even after the call. He was also talking all over the pizza while moving the pizza from pan to oven and then oven to container. I guess any germs were burned in the oven. I wouldnt be bothered any other time, heck I've eaten NYC pizza from more questionable hole in the walls, but this is not the time to be too relaxed. Needless to say I'm fine, as I write this review. The taste- OUT OF THIS WORLD Delicious!!! Delivery was quick- just 40 minutes from ordering. I asked for an extra piece of garlic bread, which they provided. Everything was fresh- not frozen or pre-made. This was REAL Lasagna, just like a $50 restaurant would have. Definitely top notch quality, service and price. Now, If it had been piping hot, I would have given it five stars. I will definitely eat here again! Lasagna was filled with meat, tasty sauce, and fresh tomatoes on the spicy sauce. Definitely superior Lasagna. You can tell- this Lasagna was made by hand- and you can taste the love that went into making it. Wow. I tried this pizza a few months ago and have been repeat customers. On Friday evening I ordered a magarhita pizza for my friend who lives in assisted living around the corner on 3821 Wilson Blvd. I ordered it online and requested it be ready for 5:45. I figured it would be perfect timing to make sure the pizza would be hot for when we arrived. We arrived at 5:40 and the pizza was sitting in a box by the door. When we served it to my friend, a 6 minute drive away, it was basically stone cold. Not room temperature, but cold. She only has access to a microwave. Microwave pizza is yuck. Sorry but I like my pizza hot and can't think of any other way to order to ensure it's hot. Sadly, my friend had been looking forward to her pizza all week. I got the vegan gourmet pizza and the vegan wings, with the sweet and spicy sauce (forgot the name). If you are vegan, ask for vegan options because items like vegan wings are not on the menu. They also have other vegan pizza options, besides make your own. Everything was absolutely delicious! My hubby had the Italian calzone and regular wings. My kids had the cheese pizza. First off, let me disagree with the reviews that had bad experiences ordering through ubereats. I'd been dying to try the vegan menu at Troy's, so I took a chance and ordered delivery...to downtown DC...the weekend before the inauguration. The Ubereats driver was a trooper, even though it took him twice as long to get here due to roadblocks, and even though I had to walk 15 min to meet him because my street was fully blocked. Despite the extra long travel time, the food was still amazing when it arrived! I got the BBQ chickn pizza, the vegan tikka masala pizza, and the vegan bbq wings. I had thought it was a bit pricey, but the wings are huge! And the pizzas are very filling. The vegan wings tasted so much like chicken that I almost couldn't eat them, so if you want a near-exact dupe, these are perfect. The pizzas were flavorful and inventive, my only criticism is that the vegan cheese used was pretty gluey. Will definitely be back! read more

DD notes that the "price on this menu are set directly by the Merchant" for this store (every menu page on DD has a statement on who sets the price at the bottom of the page). Regardless, the subs were bland and reminded of subs from Dominos. Very NOT worth it. Moreover, some of the photos must be old as the Tiramisu received looked nothing like the prior photos.
