Been buying parts from these guys off and on over the years. The telephone customer service is absolutely the worst. Hold time is always long. If you ask a question they have no idea. There is a tech dept. Which is closed on Monday. Called back on Tuesday and the one person In this department went home at 1.30. Called back on Wednesday and waited 20 plus minutes for a guy that was from my end not the sharpest. I go years without buying from them in frustration. I will say if you come in person you stand a better chance of talking to someone that has way better personal skills and understands customer service. Bought a part from this spot and it was defective would not install correctly the part was still on perfect condition when I brought it back and in the plastic to keep it that way. So when I ask them for a refund they wouldn't do it unless I brought a receipt I have spent over 5 grand here with todays technology I figured they could look it up my previous purchases and they said sorry we can't unless you have a receipt . Do your self a favor and go to classic industry's it's a night and day difference from customer service and having better PARTS like OER. Good essential parts store if you have a classic Chevy or Ford Truck or Car. They are definitely understaffed. Take a number as soon as you walk in and be prepared to wait, and wait and wait. I came in at 1p on a Tuesday and there were only 3-5 customers in the shop and I still had to wait one hour to be served. The counter clerks are knowledgeable but boy do they take their own sweet time with obviously no rush or effort to get to the next customer. They are the only game in town so who's to blame them. By far the worst customer service of any of the main vendors for old truck parts. Wished I had heeded the advice of so many on all the forums to avoid these guys, but their cheaper price on a 47-53 GMC speedometer enticed me. They sent me a defective Speedo, and refused to take responsibility for. Every customer service rep I talked to trying to fix the situation had the attitude of "tough shit." Which is exactly what so many had said on the forums. Bad review after bad review, and I regrettably I still made a purchase from them. If you're thinking about purchasing from them, DON'T DO IT!!! Almost 5 stars. Everybody inside is very helpful and obviously trying their best. They seem a little short staffed as the wait is usually anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes. Many times I don't even bother because I know the wait will be forever. Even though Brothers Truck is a little further from me, Brothers doesn't always have a backed up line. The other reason for 4/5 stars is the part quality. We know repo stuff isn't the best in general. However, some repo parts are still better than others. The stuff Brothers carriers tends to be far higher quality than some of the cheap import junk that The Truck Shop stocks. Come on parts companies, demand better quality out of your manufacturers. This place used to be really good years ago but now the staff acts like you are just a nuisance and just want to get you out of the store. they also State on the phone and website that they close at 4:30 but they lock the gates at 4:00 and tell you that they won't let anyone else in after 4pm. Don't post that you close at 4:30 if you lock up at 4:00 p.m. and show your customers some common courtesy. Your customers are the reason you are staying in business, it's pretty easy just to go to Amazon and get it shipped to your house next day probably for a better price. Heads up. I bought a door latch for my 1950 truck from Truck shop at the Carlisle spring swap meet. After installing the latch I noticed that the outer door handle was 2" low, not horizontal. I took it back apart and found the square hole for the handle was much larger than the original causing it to droop. I called Truck Shop and dealt with Gil. My "go to" place when I need parts for my 55 Bel Air. Aaron and Rudy are my favorites to deal with, both guys are very helpful and patient. Not to take from any of the other guys working there, these two I've just had more help from when asking questions about parts I'm not too sure about and might need to complete my restoration. Suggestion: Go as early as possible to avoid long waits. It gets super busy and due to the current Covid-19 protocol in place, the wait time is even longer. I drive over three hours one way to shop here, the two people I seem to always deal with are cool AF to me. They are the ones who have to have patience with me as my orders are usually large with multiple cars involved and these guys know each part very well. Its easy to leave negative reviews unless you understand the whole picture, for one it's a huge warehouse and they don't use robots they use the ok ankle express to find the part, that and the number of customers it's going to be slow. Go early and remember this isn't Star Trek so we can't beem it all aboard. First off all I gotta call B.S. on all the poor reviews. My experience was excellent with good attitude and knowledge. After I pulled my ticket off the machine on the counter it was about 35 minutes till my number was called, not bad for a "parts warehouse" with about a million items available, from a small screw to all the sheet metal on my classic Chevy truck. This is not a Am/Pm where your in and out in 5 minutes, you have to expect a short wait in line and time to pull the CORRECT parts from the miles of shelves and parts numbers. Now I did have a list of carefully selected parts numbers from the Truck Shop web site catalog for my specific 3100 series truck with an updated 261 ci motorin it already in hand before I walked in. If you are putting together a classic car yourself, you should be able to KNOW what you want, give or take a few questions. Going there saying I need this mystery part that makes a noise when I turn the wheel on my vehicle with a 6 or 8 cylinder, is a waist of your time as well as the counter person. As another person kindly put it before me, "If knowing what you want to order in great detail is a problem, you should NOT be putting together a classic car or truck!" That being said my counter person was "Johnny" , at first I thought he might be a little young (I'm 59 and everyone looks young) but he had great attitude, surprisingly good knowledge and the enthusiasm to get that last question answered that I couldn't find in there catalogs. He double checked all the parts with me visually and with the catalog pages. Yes this took another 1/2 hour or so BUT this was expected. I was not getting a Coke and a bag of chips folks, this is automotive surgery!!! Again my experience was excellent and I would recommend the "Truck Shop in Orange,Ca." to any Automotive Surgeon, I mean person!! I actually feel stupid for not going sooner because of some so called bad reviews I had seen on Yelp. Honestly it never occurred to me that "I don't know what a piston is type person" ,would be writing reviews. My experience was similar to most low star rated reviews. I've given this place my business for over 10 years. Today was my last visit. I understand there's a very contagious virus, supposedly, out there and places are taking extra measures, but being rude to your customers shouldn't be your new business model. After a 48 minute wait outside, my number was called. When I approached, the sales guy (Brent) told me to go inside to the far table to the left, right after he doubted me that I was the number he just called! I proceeded to the table, which there were catalogs strewn all over the table. When he arrived to my location, he stated "YOU NEED TO BE AT THE OTHER END OF THE TABLE", like he was a Marine Corps drill sergeant. I stated, "You need to have your RULES posted better" (like a big arrowed sign that says "STAND HERE". He then asked for the parts I wanted. I had their worthless catalog with me and started to give him part numbers. He then slammed at me "WE DON'T HAVE COMPUTERS HERE. GIVE ME A PART DESCRIPTION". I gave him "Part Descriptions" and the year, model and make, then he went to pull the parts. He came back several minutes later with the parts and the total. I then tossed the money over to the end of the table (reminded me of Joilet Jake of when he was released from prison in the Blues Brothers movie). I grabbed my change, parts and left. I recommend instead of coming here, wasting time and being bullied, is to do business online with companies like Ecklers, National Parts Depot, OPGI, SS396.com,etc. and pay the extra money to do so. Classic Industries in Huntington Beach is better, as far as customer service skills go, but is starting to go downhill, so I wont even go into that. If this place closes, oh well. No loss. The attitudes really reflect on SoCal's dying classic car market, which probably wont be around much in a few more years. read more
