I've been meaning to try this place, and now wish I had discovered it earlier. It was a bit overwhelming for me ... so many choices and everything looked so good! I tried the meatloaf (at the recommendation of a customer who came to the counter for a bag to take home the leftovers from very hefty servings). It was the best meatloaf I've ever had! The Mac & cheese and green beans were also very good ... good downhome cooking! I will definitely be back! Apparently the owners are opening some other locations (Aurelia & Forest, for one) and seem to be stretched for help. The restaurant was clean and cozy.

    Smothered Pork Chops

Been wanting to try truckers cafe and that time finally came. They offer a variety of southern comfort dishes. I went in for the smothered pork chop with the Mac and cheese and cabbage. I had the koolaid and the banana pudding as well and might i say nothing disappointed. The pork chop was magnificent, the koolaid was quenching and the banana pudding at the end was just super.

I was hoping to love it but it was mediocre. The Mac and cheese was cold (barely even room temperature) so I had to have them microwave it. The fish did not taste clean at all. Surprisingly the broccoli and cheese was super delicious.

Overall this was a great place to eat. It was my first time going as we just picked a random spot for lunch. I ordered a smoked Turkey leg with 4 sides (Mac n Cheese, mixed veggies, squash n cheese, collard greens) along with a drink. The entree was $39 plus drink plus tax of course. The other plate was smothered pork chops with 2 sides for $17 Price 5 out of 5 stars - Based on the food portion it was priced right. Too much food to eat for one person or at one time so leftovers happened :) Taste 5 out of 5 - Everything was seasoned on point and not overdone. Customer Service - 5 out of 5 - We were greeted immediately, the restaurant was clean, and all of the dishes were explained. The staff made you feel like family. I will recommend this spot based on my experience and will be returning.

Hands down the best meatloaf in DFW. I came in for lunch and ordered to go. Took 15 minutes waiting for my order and I was happy to wait, but just wished they offered me some drink while waiting. They offer dine-in customer drinks and there are many you can choose from frozen drinks like margarita or a rum. The salad is not your typical salad- HUGE portions which we love! We paid about $50 for the salad and meatloaf and drove 30minutes to get to this place but it was worth it!! The moment you walk in, you will smell the delicious food. They have a nice seating area with a tv to enjoy the dine in vibe. Definitely a place to check out if you haven't been here.

So happy to see this kind of restaurant on my side of town. It's not the fanciest place, but decent enough to dine inside to get some comfort food. You can also do carry out. The staff is funny and friendly. The portions are generous so I'm ok with the cost. I was happy to support a small minority owned business. So let's talk food. Some of the food was good and some was just ok. I need to go back once more to make up my mind. I need to try a few more things. Cabbage gets 4 STARS yummy and seasoned well! Okra gets 4 STARS loved the onions and tomatoes mixed in with the okra. Oxtails 3 STARS were well seasoned. Ribs 2 STARS not a fan of the sauce and meat lacked seasoning. Mac and Cheese 1STAR was cheesy and just ok. Southern Greens were tasty 3 STARS Overall I had a good experience. This is food that definitely fills you up and sticks to your bones, butt, waistline and thighs.

Pot roast, cheesy squash, and mashed potatoes n gravy. YUM!

I have to give it a 5 star rating, especially when you have been looking for soul food in Richardson. I knew this was going to be good when I saw a young man going in at the counter. Always a good sign! I saw the pictures on yelp and had made up my mind prior to going. The beef tip were tender and gravy nice. The collards and sweet potatoes omg good as good could get. Didn't remind me of momma's cooking (but who will ever compare to that), but came awful close. I am so glad I ventured out of my corner of Richardson and found this hidden gem! I'll be back!

Greens were salty, and tough unable to eat them. Pork chops and additional sides were average at best. Food is not worth the price.

The food is consistently delicious, the service is friendly, and you can tell there is a lot of pride behind what they do. This place has been serving customers since the 1950s, and one of the best things about it is that it hasn't lost its character. Walking through the door feels like stepping back in time to a classic neighborhood restaurant--the kind of authentic place that is becoming increasingly hard to find. The owner and staff are fantastic. They are always welcoming, friendly, and genuinely happy to see you. After visiting regularly, you don't feel like just another customer; you feel like you're walking into a neighborhood place where people actually know and appreciate their regulars. If I had to find one negative, it would be that the dining room is small and can get crowded during busy times. But even that says something about the restaurant--people want to be here! If you're looking for a trendy restaurant that changes with every new fad, this probably isn't it. But if you want great food, friendly people, decades of history, and a truly authentic old-school dining experience, you absolutely need to give this place a try. This is the real deal. Five stars from me, and I'll happily keep coming back every week.

The atmosphere was casual and up beat. All the burgers and loaded fries were cooked to perfection. One of our friends had the Bloody Mary and she seemed to enjoy it. There was plenty of seating at the restaurant with long tables, sit down tables, and outdoor seating. After choosing our table we waited 15 minutes before our waitresses showed up. They were very busy with the lunch rush so it took awhile between everything. It even took awhile to get our waters. One waitress was in training and learning from the other. The positive was that the waitresses were friendly throughout. After looking at the menu and waiting another 15 minutes we finally placed our order. We got our appetizer after waiting another 15 minutes. Thankfully that held us over until we got our burgers and fries. We started with tostada chips and queso. It was good and we ate it up pretty quickly. We requested another basket of chips to finish off the queso. To eat with our burgers we ordered hand punched fries and sweet potato fries. The hand cut fries were nice and thick and you could taste the salt. I enjoyed eating them with ketchup. The sweet potato fries were also thick and salty and you could taste the flavor of the potato. No need for ketchup with these fries unless you want it. For my burger I ordered the HL Hunt cooked medium which comes with white cheese, bacon, blackberry compote and mustard. The burger was filling, the cheese was melted but it had little flavor, and the bacon was chewy. The compote was my favorite part of the burger as it added a slightly sweet flavor. I requested a medium cooked burger but it didn't taste that way but it was still good despite that. Overall Rodeo Goat has lots of seating and friendly staff but I would go at an off peak time so that you don't have to wait a long time for everything. The food was still good despite the wait.
