We've been supporting this small woman owned business for years and will NEVER step foot in this (or San Anselmo) establishment again!! Cashier worker Andrea was so nasty and confrontational and even had the lack of decency to be rude and nasty to my innocent by stander of a child!! I was nearly in tears over this workers verbal assault. I immediately rang the owner Heather. She didn't seem terribly bothered and thought our verbal assault from her employee would be rectified by offering us free drinks. No go! This didn't change the worker Andrea's attitude and death stares, not to mention we could hear her talking crap about us to other employees. The mouth and behavior of this employee is abominable and shouldn't be a behavior that we as supportive patrons should ever experience. Fortunately we have several gluten and dairy free options in Marin, so save yourself a verbal assault and go elsewhere.

Water and coffee quickly followed and I perused the menu. Diverse options and interesting creations. Recommended by my server, I went with the celery root potato pancakes. They were a revelation as was the whole experience. The homemade green hot sauce was available for personalizing your flavor profile....highly recommended! (I asked if I could buy some to take home.)Comfortable spot in the window, the vibe is quiet, confident, and welcoming. I don't think you could go wrong here. Hope you can try it soon.

My boyfriend's eggs were runny despite having asked for them to be scrambled hard. My niece didn't like her pancakes, and the group generally felt the food was bland. The service was also spotty. After remaking my boyfriend's eggs they forgot his toast. Then when the toast came they forgot the jam. The waitress didn't ask about drink refills, though she did refill my coffee. The ambiance was fine, but not the special holiday brunch spot we had imagined. Next time we'll find a different Larkspur restaurant.

Authentic Croque Monsieur -- one of the best I've had in the States (just oversized!)…read more Stopped by Le Marais Bakery (Buvette du Marais) at Marin Country Mart in Larkspur for a sunny outdoor lunch. Ordered the Croque Monsieur with side salad and a Maison Perrier sparkling water. This is a proper French-style Croque Monsieur executed beautifully. House-made pain de mie toasted to golden perfection with crisp edges, quality ham, plenty of melted aged Comté and Gruyère, and a light touch of béchamel that binds everything without any heavy, saucy overload (I didn't even spot a thick layer in the cross-section, but the rich, nutty flavor came through perfectly). It arrived piping hot, which made all the difference -- gooey cheese and satisfying crunch throughout. Flavor-wise, it tasted more authentic than most versions I've tried elsewhere in the U.S.: balanced, comforting, and not greasy at all. The simple mixed greens salad on the side kept it fresh and prevented it from feeling too rich. Paired with the crisp sparkling water, it was an ideal light-but-satisfying lunch. The only non-authentic thing? The size -- I've never seen a Croque Monsieur this large! It's generous (in true California fashion), but everything held up well without getting soggy or overwhelming. The outdoor setting is pleasant -- brick pavement, dappled sunlight, relaxed vibe. Their bread and pastries clearly shine here, and this savory dish holds its own. Highly recommend if you're craving a genuine French bistro classic in Marin. I'll definitely be back -- probably for one of their famous croissants or a crêpe next time.

This place has tons of potential with minor fixes... everything tastes good but it just needed to be reheated. It tasted like we were eating left over pastries from the night before --- at the cost I would have hoped to have had it heated up. O R D E R **rating knocked down because everything was cold and tasted like left overs** Roasted Asparagus $8.00 (3.5/5) -- First off all, this would taste so amazing if it was hot and toasty. HOWEVER, they do not remove the tough end of the asparagus so I felt like I was chewing through rubber. Kouign Amman Special $6.00 (3.5/5) -- This would have tasted so much better fresh... essentially I'm imagining the viral flattened croissant except that's just the crust and the core is still very croissant like? Pain Perdu Fruit Almond $8.00 (3.5/5) -- This was really good but I like some more texture or crispy or crunchy edges? Again, this would have tasted so good fresh. Salmon Eggs Benedict $20.00 (4/5) -- This was good~ I felt like the smoked salmon portion could have been a bit more generous. S E R V I C E Nothing extra to highlight~ nice people. I was surprised they didn't give us water since we did order food from the kitchen. O T H E R Either offer to reheat or toast... or have a sample visual in the front and pull the fresher toasted pastries from the back.
