Their staff are not only friendly and efficient but also extremely well-informed about their merchandise and willing to give advice; this is important to me because I have the mechanical aptitude of a mildly retarded gerbil. I've gotten the same attention whether I was buying two screws or a new Weber grill, and no one has ever tried to upsell me. My most recent experience was buying, yes, a new Weber grill from Jim Carmalt. He was exceptionally knowledgeable about every aspect of their stock and how best to use it. It was almost like talking to an old friend who had my best interest as a high priority. I thin of Village Hardware as sort of the anti-Home Depot/Loew's, I get personal service of a high order and always leave confident that I have a high-quality product and even higher quality advice. I've been going here for about 4 years since moving back to the area and have had more great experiences than I can count. Staff ALWAYS greets me as I enter the store and they never ignore me when shopping. Employees know the store like the back of their hand and don't hesitate to help with propane outside or with loading up bags of soil. Very knowledgable people overall. Selection is mind blowing and I've come here for everything ranging from nuts/bolts to mower blades and Christmas decorations. The ONLY negative is that I've noticed an influx of younger guys working there who aren't as knowledgable or professional. I have enough of a grasp on basic economics to know well enough that a 67% mark up is excessive, even for a small business.

Backing out of their main parking spots goes right into the street, so it's a bit difficult. You just have to be extra careful of oncoming vehicles. I picked up some items from an order I placed on their app. There was no line, the employee assisted me right away, and he saw I was in a camwalker boot, so he offered to assist me with loading really heavy soil into my vehicle. Great service, great experience, and would recommend!
