Charles has done work for us at our commercial property and private residences. He's a a very trustworthy guy and no-nonsense. He takes pride in a job well done, he is reliable, and pricing is reasonable. If you are looking for an HVAC guy on Yelp right now, why is it that you don't already have someone you can use? Is this your first time needing HVAC repair? Or have you not been able to find someone you can trust? My guess is you haven't been able to find someone you can trust. So you keep trying new people, only to get disappointed again and again. As a property manager, I've had to deal with many service companies over the years. HVAC technicians, plumbers, painters, etc. And I know from experience, many service people will low-ball you on the front end to engage you, and then make up their money later when you're not scrutinizing their pricing. Charles is NOT one of these people. He will be straight with you. He will tell it how it is, and is too busy serving his happy repeat customers to waste time playing games. Chales shows up on time, he gets the job done quickly, he's very competent in his craft. And you will learn he's honest and consistent, which spares you time in getting 2nd and 3rd bids on every job. I'm the Office Manager for a small non-profit. We own a large building with 4 different HVAC units that operate daily. Its a really old building so one large unit would never do. Some months back, I had trouble with one of my units. As some of the other Yelpers have pointed out, some of these HVAC companies are hard to get a hold of. It seems there is high demand for HVAC services. Truman Air was not difficult at all. I was on three waiting lists for appointments 3 and 4 weeks out... Truman came within 2 days of our first contact. I was dreading the cost of the repair but the guys went on the roof and diagnosed the problem in like 10 minutes. The capicitor had burnt out. For much less than I had anticipated spending and within 10 more minutes the HVAC was humming again! Thanks Charles! Now, one of my other units has gone bad altogether. It must be replaced. It's 30 years old. The last guy that replaced a unit took 3 weeks to get one and another 3 weeks before he could come out to install it. Charles came the day after I called and will be installing the new unit this week! You will be hard pressed to find a company that comes out as quickly and is willing to do the job immediately, especially for such competitive pricing. If I could give these guys more stars... My AC that was over 25 years old wasn't working in my condo unit. I have a few AC company inspected it, and only gave me high price bid for adding new R22 coolant, leak detection and blabla....or suggested me to replace of the entire unit in and out. I made my mind for replacing the outdoor unit, only to find that indoor unit matching coil was impossible to find (I had an old horizontal ducted indoor unit). Charles and his team were excellent. Fast quote, reasonably priced, and did the job that many other AC companies don't know how to do. And now my outdoor unit was replaced to a brand new one and the indoor unit is just working as well. After dealing with an annoying HVAC company (that our home warranty sent us) way too many times, we decided to go somewhere else. Charles came by and checked out our very old heater that was probably from the 70s or 80s. Turned out that we needed a new belt and motor. Rather than risk repairing the motor to possibly have something else with the heater go bad, we chose to have Truman Air replace the heater and thermostat. The price was reasonable, and they replaced it all in one day! On top of that, there is a one year warranty on all parts and labor for the heater! Charles was very knowledgeable and patient when I was asking him questions about our ducts and heating system. We will definitely go with them when we want to install our AC! They were good about getting somebody out to diagnose the issue with my AC during a heatwave however the guy scammed me and was very dishonest! Overcharged me for adding freons $350 into my ac and tried to charge me for some BS cleaning he did in my attic which I never agreed upon. He also attempted to tell me some parts were faulty and incorrectly installed - asked him how much to fix, he said $800?!! I felt he was dishonest but had no choice as it was a 100+ degree day. Let me tell you my experience with what lead me to choosing this company to repair my AC and why I am giving them a 5 star rating. My 15 year old central air started to blow regular air about 5 days ago, luckily this week has not been worse than 92 degrees so even though it's been hot during the day, the evenings have been able to cool off enough to be comfortable for sleep. As this was our first encounter with an AC issue since we bought our condo, we did not know who to call for repair. So I began my search with Yelp and quickly realized there are many companies out there with great ratings. After reading countless reviews over 3-4 days, they all started to read similar and became more difficult to choose from. So I made my first call to a company with the most positive reviews such as one with over 150 five stars but when I called, I got a voicemail which says they weren't able to accept new appointments until middle of August! I tried the next company with 130 five stars and they basically said the same thing, can't take new orders until August. That started to stress my out!! Then I tried a couple others stellar rated ones and they said they aren't servicing cities that aren't right next to where they are located because they have taken too many service requests already! What the...!? Then I tried my luck with 2-3 more and I got responses like there is a $59 upfront service fee that can't be applied to the actual repair + $45 every 30 mins afterwards. Another said they charge $90 just to come out. Another put me on hold for 5 mins to check their schedule then said they have to call me back except they never did. And another didn't speak good English. I then gave up on calling and started to send emails thru their Yelp pages to several others but would not get any response at all. The only one that did reply said $75 upfront and then "quoted" $400 to change out the starter fan or replace compressor fan or retrofit the unit...all before he has even come out to look at the AC! I had pretty much given up at that point and began thinking I need to mentally prepare to face the warm up this weekend. Worse yet, I dreaded I may have to tell my wife and kids that we might have to bear the heat until August when the next service appointment could become available. Then I stumbled across Truman Air which only has a handful of 5 stars (but all 5s). What I found different about them is that their Yelp site noted to be reachable 24 hrs a day 7 days a week and had a company website that doesn't boast to be the best, instead they mentioned their technicians are factory trained and certified and that their service fee is only $40 which can be applied towards repairs. Nice!!! Also they give discounts to seniors, military, and first time customers. There is a schedule service button on their webpage so I've figured I've go nothing to lose at that point since it was already past 7pm Friday night. So I left my info including my preferred date (tmmrw) and time (8am-11am). To my surprise I woke up the next morning and realized they texted me to say they will come out Saturday morning between 8-11am to fix my AC! I couldn't believe my luck but began to grow skeptical... is it really possible that an actually good company could come out within about 12 hrs after I left my info when no one else have been able to do so without a lengthy wait. I even wondered if they could be here so fast because they don't have business or will gouch and upsell me. Well, let me tell you that all my worries were invalid because my AC is now working colder than I can ever remembered since we moved in. For the first time in many years, I had to turn "Off" the air at 5 pm because it is too cold in my condo (we used to have to run it past midnight in order to cool it off to a comfortable level). Two people showed up at 9:30am, most notably a guy who identified himself as "Charles" who was polite, courteous, spoke good English, and was very knowledgeable without doing any hard upsell. Him and the guy who came with him removed their shoes before each time they would step into the house and they would repeat taking off and put back on over and over. That's just thoughtful and speaks volume about how courteous they are. After examining the unit, Charles quickly identified the problems and give us a fair price for the repairs which took about an hr and a half. Even though it's never easy to pay for repairs of any kind, when the service was so good, and the persons who provided the service were so pleasant, I can tell you that it made it so much easier to pay. I am very happy to have stumbled across Truman Air and had Charles and his collegue repair our AC today. I strongly recommend them for your own air conditioning needs. read more

They just came by within a days notice to help resolve our issue with our ductless 3 split unit in West Hollywood. We've had a slow freon leak for a year now, and our heater was blowing out cold air in our frigid home. I was aware that finding the leak would be near impossible since the coils were run everywhere, including underneath the house. They were able to refill the Freon with a sealant that would help patch up the leak, and prevent further leaks. They even included a warranty, which is never provided. Their price and service was so much more reasonable than the last guy I contacted. I highly recommend. read more

Our air condition was working but it was not blowing cold air due to capacitors needed to be replaced and the fan was not moving outside. We called quite few HVAC from yelp before using Truman Air. Thomas was the one picked up the phone and said he can come on Sunday to look at our AC for $40 and if we wanted to fix it the $40 would go toward the fixing.. On Sunday he send one of his guy to come out look at our AC. He changed the capacitors and also checked our AC to see if we needed more freon which we didn't. We asked him to remove his shoes before entering our house (since we do not wear shoes in our house) and he did it without any complain. These guys are great at what they do and if anyone has their ac is not working or problem call them. They are the best among all the ac repair company we called. Our A/C went out at the start of the Labor Day weekend. The inside of our multilevel condo was registering 90°!!! Our regular A/C repair guy was not available so we went to our alternate. He came over and charged me $40 just to tell me how to clean the crap that had accumulated around the outside unit, and also suggested that the air filter in the unit inside probably needed to be replaced. I asked, "Well, can you replace it then?" His response: "Oh no, I don't have that part with me but all you have to do is go to Home Depot and get one. Real easy." OMG...now our thermostat was reading 94°!!! Thank goodness we found TRUMAN AIR. They were a Godsend! It was a Sunday during a holiday weekend, yet they sent someone over quickly and he showed us where the potential problems were. Then he took all the necessary steps to get our A/C up and running. I didn't get his name, but he was very courteous, efficient, and yes, he did take his shoes off when he came inside! I would recommend TRUMAN AIR to everyone. On one of the hottest days of the year, Thomas came as promised and did a thorough job looking at my unit that was located under the house and the condenser/fan that is in the backyard. He then returned inside and checked the temperature of the air coming out of the vents which registered between 64 and 70 degrees -- even though the rooms did not reflect that cool temperature. He recommended cleaning the condenser which would have cost $150 (including the $40 service fee) in hopes that more cool air would be forced out through the vents. With my permission, he and his associate cleaned the condenser and because there was no change in temperature inside, he charged only the service fee. He thinks I may need a larger unit to cool my house. When I'm ready to do that, I will definitely call Thomas from Truman Air -- family owned, fairly priced $40 service fee (another company was charging $95 just to walk in my door!), and a man of integrity. read more
