I am giving zero stars people BEWARE took my 2001 Lexus GS 300 in because it cut out on us while driving my husband was referred here they never touched our car before they said we needed a new alternator, there was an oil leak and they recommended a new timing belt we got everything fixed they recommended 4 months later my car started making a weird noise out of the blue oil light came on and car stalled out. Had it towed back to trust auto in El Cajon they said a piece was broke in the engine had another mechanic look at it two days later they said it was because there was a major oil leak these fuckers made the oil leak worst and never fixed the issue be careful when having major work done on your high end car here they will fuck you No I sold it took an L and got a new car I will never come back there again to little to late and like I said anyone who has a high end luxury car beware I have nothing to lie about should have just towed to Linda vista to my mechanic in the first place my mistake that I've learned from don't please save the bull shit for someone else read more

Mike the owner and his team did great work on my Ford Focus. I had taken my car to a Ford dealership for my regular oil change. When it came time to pay I was told I had a leaking radiator, a broken master seal so I was leaking oil and some other items needing to be fix for a total of 1990.00 and that I shouldn't drive the car to much until these items where fix. I then took the car to Trust and Mike got all the work done for 1/2 of that and my car is running like new 2012. I just picked up my 2016 Ford Fiesta today. Mike and his team replaced my entire fan assembly, plus a shorted fuze that had melted into the fuze box. Michael gave me several options on how to fix my vehicle, from replacing the entire fuze box to rerouting the fuze externally. While in the shop, he also installed a hose that I had in the trunk for me at no additional cost, as it was part of the cooling system. He even went above and beyond and had his mechanic repair a minor wiring issue that that the dealership had left (they had run a bare wire across my engine block. Michael and his mechanics repaired the safety issue right away). Overall, the work was much higher quality and a much fairer price than the dealership or any other shops that I have brought my vehicles to in East county. I'm extremely happy. read more

I have issues... Specifically, I have some kind of phobia which requires me to have more than one car at all times because I'm always afraid I'll be stuck without one. Of course, this then means 2X the costs, 2X the maintenance, 2X the insurance, etc. This being the case, it's very important for me to find a good mechanic who can keep both vehicles going while keeping costs down and getting my car back to me quickly. Trust Auto Repair is that kind of place. Even more so, it's the kind of place that you could refer to when you say "my mechanic" or "I have a guy who could fix that!". It's the sort of shop where you could imagine folks have had their 1st new car worked on and still have it worked at today now that their child is driving it. I've found their pricing to be very reasonable and have always been surprised by how quickly they get my car back to me. So far I've always gotten my car back to me the next day even when I've dropped it off at lunchtime the day before and the shop looked really busy. I've used these guys and come to rely on them as my go to mechanic. They are straight up, fair and tell it like it is. If you don't maintain your car, you're going to hear about it. You get a fair deal here. They have helped me out of many sticky situations. Now that i've moved out of the area, I'm still find myself trekking back here for basic auto work (brakes,belts, pumps). They frame the issue and let you know, hey you want to be cheap and get cheap parts? do you want fancy parts and keep your car for a while? They'll tell you.. My only gripe is they very rarely call you back to tell your your car is ready. They are good about getting your car done within a day, no problem, but you do have to call them and ask! Note, they opened another shop over in La Mesa (its off El Cajon blvd and Park Ave, in the auto center area, in the back) and this has become my main shop now. This shop also does body work, which is nice, when you're asking to get your brakes fixed, they can touch up your bumper scratches and dents. They have a lot of their work posted on the walls and they'll give you a quote and have your car done, depending on the work, done within 4-6 hours. thx read more

I've taken a few of my cars to Trust. They do good work and their prices are fair. Mike is the guy to talk to. He's nice enough and communicates issues and pricing well. Why the 3 star review? Like other reviewers mentioned, it can be a pain to get updates from Trust. Also, outside of Mike, everyone who works there seems to fit the gruff mechanic stereotype. I don't think I've ever spoken one word to anyone who worked there who wasn't Mike. That's not the worst thing in the world--all that matters is that my car gets fixed--but it's still an issue nonetheless. read more

Trustworthy and Affordable. I've been a supplier of parts to the auto repair industry for over 20 years here in San Diego. If I had to guess, I'd say I have interacted with over 50-60% of the shops in San Diego county. There are hundreds and hundreds of repair facilities in town. Sadly, of the ones I have dealt with, I wouldn't be able to recommend a good portion of them. There are a handful of shops I recommend to friends and family. I need to be able to trust that the diagnosis I am given is absolutely honest and accurate and that the amount I'm being charged is fair. Dealing with Mike and Lou, I am positive I will get both, every time my vehicles need work. This is a very busy shop. One of the busiest in El Cajon and for good reason. They work on a lot of cars and are knowledgable and equipped to work on all makes and models. They will repair what is broken and recommend maintenance repairs to hopefully keep your car from coming in on a tow truck the next time. If you think a trustworthy mechanic is the one that only fixes what is broken, then you need to reevaluate. Mike and Lou will assess your vehicle just as if they were working on their personal vehicles. Nothing more and nothing less. They will tell you what you need to know, not just what you want to hear. Their rates are very fair and reasonable and they will ALWAYS do what they can to work within your budget. When I shop with companies, I always go with companies that are BBB Accredited. It is very rare when I don't. Trust Auto was recommended to me by BBB Accredited Summit Transmissions in La Mesa. I gave them a go to fix my AC, and they had it back to me the same day. They quoted me one price and the final cost came out to cheaper than the quote. The second time I took my truck in there, I had to have a bolt removed with an Easy Out. Since this bolt was so rare, it was not in stock in San Diego. One of the owners drove me home and got it back to me the next day. Once again, I was quoted one price, and the final cost came out to be cheaper than the quote. A different shop quoted a ridiculous amount to get the AC on my Honda Pilot fixed and I am definitely glad I came here.
