Came here last Saturday for a dinner and overall had a good experience. The dishes here are creative and unique, and ranges from small bites to big meaty plates which gives you lots of options to choose from. We opted for the wood grilled cauliflower, swordfish belly, and ricotta agnolotti. The cauliflower seemed like a popular dish, and for good reason. It has just enough char to give it a slightly smoky flavor and pairs well with the Serrano aioli they serve with. The golden raisins balance out the smoky and spicy notes to give the dish a burst of flavors. The agnolotti was rich comfort food at its finest. The pasta was soft and pillowy, and the ricotta inside plus the shaved truffles give that extra oomph. Swordfish belly was a well made dish as well. I believe it was a mushroom broth foam that covered the potato dumplings and belly, and it acted as a bridge to connect the fish and dumpling textures together. My disappointment was in the dessert, or the absence of it. We ordered the "earl grey tea" which was the profiteroles. We waited about 20 min for it, just for someone to come by and say they are burnt and they are ordering more which will take another 10 min to deliver, and from there they will need to make it from scratch again. Accidents can happen, but considering we were one of the first guests on a Saturday night to order dessert, I think there was some poor management going on in the dessert department. Came here last month for brunch and it was sooo good! I love the ambiance of the entire place. Location is great! We sat on the patio which looked super cute and also looks like it gives a good vibe at night time. What We ordered: The "Simple Breakfast" : 2 eggs, bacon, potatoes , and I had them hold the toast. What an experience. I came in as a solo diner and was able to get a seat at the bar on a Saturday night. Kate was my bartender and she made my entire night. I started with a cocktail called House Of Charm and it was well balanced tequila cocktail with the perfect amount of spice followed by a glass of Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley. For food I enjoyed the beef tartare which was probably my favorite tartare in the city right now followed by the Oxtail Ravolini. The manager Jonalyn came over to check on me and was so genuine and caring. What a treat. I came here on a work trip so as a solo diner I just sat at the bar which was great because I got plenty of attention from my server. Food wise everything was excellent and I'd give the place 5 stars if the food wasn't as salty as it was. I opted for a few small plates and was very satisfied. The wood grilled cauliflower was excellent. It is a bit pricy for a small plate ($17) and the size but it was still quite good. The wood grilled octopus was also fantastic and perfectly cooked. The accompanying olives and salsa verde were fresh and tasty. Lastly the shrimp and sausage was a very hearty portion and good. Of the three plates it is easily the largest sized for the price point. Very tasty food, high quality, good cocktails, yet small portions! I came to TRUST for dinner with two friends on a Sunday. (Not busy) I ordered Trust Cocktail #10 which was a gin, lime, egg white concoction. Pretty tasty and a bit on the stronger side for cocktails. My friends and I started with the burrata with pickled peaches, fig, arugula and toasted focaccia. It was very good mixture of sweet and savory. My friend and I decided to split the lobster risotto expecting a $19 dish to be enough for two. Unfortunately not the case. The dish was on the smaller side with one little piece of lobster. :/ BUT it was VERY tasty and I would go back to have the dish all to myself. Perfect combo of creamy, salty, savory, and I tasted a hint of truffle! Very very good dish. They have indoor and outdoor seating (covered for hot sunny days). Parking is possible in the neighborhood homes if you don't mind walking a little. They do take reservations. I would definitely go back to TRUST but get my own dish next time. ;) read more

Found the place in one of Eater's 38 for Spring 2019 and since I was going to be near Mission Valley, I knew I had to try it out. I didn't have a reso but luckily was able to get a table at the bar. The bar was great with a few tv's, the regular menu, and a bar menu. Couldn't truly decide so asked the bartender between a few and landed on the Shrimp and Sausage and a glass of The Offering. The food took a bit of a while to arrive but maybe it's because they were putting time into it to build that depth of flavor? Luckily, I had the wine to mull me over, which I suggest to try. Such an interesting blend of red and whites. For the food though, it wasn't my favorite. Very hearty with the shrimp, sauce, garbanzo beans, and two thick slices of bread but overly salty with the sausage and the stew-like sauce. The bread was great to soak up the sauce but it was a constant return of salt after salt. I should've expected it but at least the shrimp was cooked well (not chew), sausage was sliced thin, and the garbanzo beans had a bite to it. The server was great. As a regular patron of the other Trust restaurants, I can't believe I've never been to Trust. It's literally in my neighborhood. And with a hanging head I now admit that I have been missing out on this gem in the Trust crown. Think small plates. Shareable and small enough do you can order from each section in the menu. Or large enough to sate your appetite with a salad and 1 or 2 small plates. Start with the Little Gems salad. Think fresh, blue, tangy and crisp. Move on to the Octopus Fritters. More octopus than fritter. So tasty. We also tried the Pork and Beef Dumplings, the Shrimp & Sausage (andouille sausage with shrimp over garbanzo beans in a tasty red sauce) and finally the Chicken Thigh Terrine. I loved all of these. Next time I'll try the burger. We ordered a bottle of Les Choisille Chenin Blanc that worked well with the entire list of plates we had tonight. I ate at the bar, like we normally do, but the seating offers outdoor fireplace seats, outdoor heated tables, and a large indoor seating area as well as the bar. Venu is amazing pure and simple. Very classy and upscale with a way cool outdoor patio as well. I wanted to get seated quickly so I took a bar seat. The vibe is chill and intimate which i like. I could not help but glance at the patio outside as it looked pretty cozy and inviting but also busy and occupied with others who beat me to it. Fire pits and all! I went with my objective to try out the famed whole grilled branzino fish and glad I did. It delivered and then some! So simple but so darn good. This is my second visit. Food is delicious and interesting, wine list had many great choices moderately, reasonably priced. The first visit we had an inside table; service and experience was great. Which brought us back to our second visit. Today, we were seated outside at the table by the Robinsons steps, which had a pungent smell of urine. I realize that it's part of our Urban experience, but for the price and haute cuisine.. that is not compatible. Asked to be moved, which seemed begrudgingly accommodated. It still smelled of urine but not nearly as strong. Then they cleaned up the first table and sat another party. Maybe it didn't bother them. Nice location, friendly front desk, good looking food, bad first brunch impression, terrible wait times for food and lack of decent service. Let me start of with this, the outside and the inside looks very nice and the quality of tables, chairs and outside seating is nice. Unfortunately that's where the good ends. I understand that this establishment is nice and hip and all but it is being operated with the typical millennial attitude of we're gonna get the food out when we feel it's ready with no sense of urgency. Waiting 50 minutes on two entrees after ordering after sitting for 10 minutes waiting to be acknowledged is pretty excessive even in a busy place. However the wait to get in was 15 minutes and was considered short, so it's not like they were slammed, hence spending over an hour to get to eat, is really a long time. Especially getting an order of chilaquiles rojos missing the pinto beans after all that wait, and instead of redoing that order we just got a side of beans with a here, do it yourself attitude. What happened to "we're sorry, I will send it back to the kitchen to redo it". I mean my salmon toast was decent but a basic place such as Parakeet cafe in Little Italy does a better job. Food looks good, but execution and timeliness is just so lazy. Imagine getting an avocado scramble somewhere, with missing avocado that you point out, and then somebody brings you an avocado on the side with a basic "here, go f yourself attitude". There were guests next to us that waited 25 minutes for their drinks and over and hour and 15 minute total for their food. They were vocally complaining among everyone around. Really wanted to like this place. We sat outside for dinner, patio ambiance is definitely lacking and the cheap metal chairs are loud and uncomfortable. Inside was loud. Two single stall restrooms is an odd choice for a place this size. Drinks were interesting but small and expensive, small pours of wine for the price as well. Food ranged from good to just ok. Five dishes was a decent amount for two people. I see now that many other reviewers mention the salt level. I am not particularly sensitive to salt but at least two of our dishes - the potatoes and the octopus - were overwhelmingly salty. Woke up parched the next morning! We mentioned it to our server but he seemed unconcerned. Service was not great. A two-top next to us seemed to have better rapport with their server and better pace of their meal, so maybe it was a fluke. We felt forgotten several times and it was about 45 minutes from the time of our reservation until our first small dish arrived. The last dishes came out maybe 30 minutes after the first and were lukewarm. Again, love the concept and really wanted to like the place , but overall just not a good experience and we won't be back. read more

We came during their Happy Hour so we were able to try some of the bar bites for $2 off. The Truffle Mac & Cheese is amazing... each bite was cheesy and full of truffle flavor, and having the bone marrow to compliment it made it really decadent and enjoyable. The Shishito Peppers were also tasty and they were fun to eat since some peppers were spicier than others so it was like a game. I didn't think the Mornay Fries sounded too appetizing but they were pretty good too. Two of us finished our meals by the time the burger arrived I find it ironic that this place is called Trust and the new generation of restaurants focus on authenticity and taking care of people yet when they make a mistake they are not accountable and rarely apologize. A simple, 'our kitchen forgot, we will rush it for you now' would suffice over 'it is almost done' times three. No apology, just indifference as if the wait is justified. The double irony is you have someone at the pass monitoring the tickets yet this still happened. NYC has hip and cool restaurants but also with accountability when it comes to service.
