Overall I really liked this place! We came here for a brunch a few weeks ago and had a great experience. Our waitress was very friendly. The drinks were amazing & they have five dollar mimosas on the weekend! I would recommend the lavender vodka cocktail or blueberry coffee cocktail if you like coffee! I was very excited to try out Truth and Beauty, the newest spot on Carroll Creek. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to their social media posting. Paper menus were reused between customers without sanitizing. Before seating, I said I was excited to try their cocktails- the server said they had five (awesome!). When we were getting ready to order, I asked what cocktails he had- the server made it clear "he" didn't have any, the bartender did, vaguely described two, and couldn't tell me the rest. Okay, no worries. I asked what ryes they had so I could have an Old Fashioned. Bulleit, Jack Daniels, Glenfiddich... (two of the three are not even rye). And then the drink I got was the smallest Manhattan I've ever seen. I appreciate that it's a new restaurant, but there definitely are some kinks that need to be worked out before I'll go back. read more

The food was excellent. I got almost every appetizer they offered because they all sounded delicious. We started with wings, fried pickles, deviled eggs, pork belly, and salmon bites. Every dish came out great. My entree was the blackened catfish which was very good and it came with a Tomato gravy that I loved. My only issue here was the grits. They were advertised as cheddar grits but I did not taste any hint of cheese in them. There was no trace of any flavor honestly, and they came out a little cold. Brunch only review. Dont do it. Frederick is a bad bad brunch town with basically nothing great. however, this maybe the worst i ve had. I had to pull up the menu after the meal came to even confirm we got the right food because it was such a sorry excuse for the Cowboy breakfast and the huevos rancheros. Cocktails were also terribly unbalanced. Really expected more from a prime real estate place but maybe they are better after brunch but STEER CLEAR for brunch. read more

Second visit to Truth and Beauty - first time was brunch. Today was lunch. Still an incredible dining experience from beginning to end. We ordered the scrumptious crab and corn chowder. Chef's kiss! Not too salty or bland. Perfect seasoning balance. The Korean chicken wings have a spice level and flavor profile that's spot on. If a little "heat" scares you, don't order them. We finished our meal off with the shrimp and grits and the pot roast special. Two filling delectable entrees for the cold November day. We Decided to go to truth and beauty bar and kitchen for my husband's birthday. It was a Tuesday night and it was quiet downtown, which is the way we enjoy downtown Frederick. The food was fantastic. My husband had the salmon special, my son enjoyed the hanger steak and I had a hamburger with egg. The appetizers of fried green beans and salmon bites was awesome. The food has very distinct taste and wonderful flavors. My son even ate Brussels sprouts! He had no idea that they could taste good. Go figure. I've been trying to get him to eat them for years. Ryan, our server, was attentive, polite, and very happy to serve us. I highly recommend this place. read more

My husband and I stopped in for fish Friday (we both ordered the fish and chips...and a couple cocktails) and we couldn't have asked for a better meal. We have been here at least 10 times it's our go-to when we're in downtown Frederick. Everything we've had here both from the brunch and lunch menu have been excellent. It's rare to find a place that does fish and chips right but they've nailed it. French toast is too notch. Also they don't really advertise it but the kids chicken nugget and fries meal is a hit with our kids, they look forward to coming here just for that. Waitstaff is always super friendly, owner is super friendly, space is cozy with cool artwork, and it's reasonably priced. read more

Food was 10/10, couldn't be more satisfied- kudos to the BACK of house!!! But the front of house is a whole other story, enough to knock my rating down to a 2 star. I don't remember our server's name, but we stopped by on the evening of 5/22/21. A lot of places were booked, so we were worried we could even get a seat. As soon as we got there, the person seating us said he may not have a spot inside. I said "no worries, maybe we could sit outside?" The server, who was taking an order for another table, stopped her table service just to turn around, interrupt and say that the outdoor table is reserved. She seemed to have some type of attitude, which okay, no worries, just let us know if you guys have a spot. I wasn't trying to step on anybody's toes or force anyone to seat us LOL like I said, we expected to be turned away from a few restaurants because it was a busy night. Anyways, we are seated. We asked for a side of fries after receiving our dishes....finally got it after a long wait, and there were chicken nuggets under the fries. Our server was inattentive and nowhere to be found (didn't check on us one time this whole experience) so we just ate the nuggets too. She comes over and said "did those fries have chicken nuggets?" We said yes, she responds with SUCH ATTITUDE: "that was a kid's meal......." then stormed off as if it was our fault for eating it!!!!!! We wanted to give it back and get what we actually ordered lady, believe me. My mom asks if anyone else has complained about it being cold- the restaurant, or at least where we were seated, was frigid. We would understand if nothing can be done, we just wanted to cover our bases (can't hurt to ask!) and see if it was possible to sit in there a little more comfortably. Our server said "well this is the first day we've had AC so I'm enjoying it" and then walked away. Glad you are comfortable because you know, the server always comes first?? We asked for extra condiments, she says that it will probably be an upcharge. My mom, being the one treating my fiance and I for my graduation night, was willing to pay whatever, and made this clear to this server. Our server looked confused and said "are you sure?" (like what is that response even supposed to mean??) Finally, We weren't even finished yet, and she comes over and asks us if we want our check. Didn't ask if there was anything else we wanted, just said "Do you want your check now?" My mom and I, stunned, looked at each other speechless. I was hoping to get another drink or something, but nevermind! I guess she saw our faces and then said "or do you want dessert" ...no thanks, I'm out LOL. Couldn't leave this place any quicker. If you are understaffed, or having difficulties meeting the needs of your customers, at least brief them before they come in. We would have been very understanding if it weren't for her really awful attitude and some type of vendetta against us from the beginning. I have never tipped under 20% in my life, because I know what it's like to have a bad day as a server. My mom paid, my fiance and I tipped, and this was the first time I have ever given less than 20. Ok, I have not written a review in a long time but I feel like this place deserves a shout-out. It is tough these days to find a restaurant with all-around amazing service, a fun/clean atmosphere, AND delicious food. Truth and Beauty actually deliver on this trifecta! The drinks are also always on point (does that make it a four-fecta??) Honestly, we love it, been multiple times. The staff always seem happy and are knowledgeable about the menu. This place is downright dependable. We love the fresh seasonal menu (although there will be words if they ever take those brussel sprouts off the menu!) We have met the owner who is really nice as well - goes a long way to have someone running things that are down to earth, really cares about his customers & the Frederick community. You can really tell he also cares about the staff who in turn feel appreciated & create a very welcoming vibe (sadly not as common as it should be these days!) I would totally recommend this place as a fun spot to meet up with friends as well as the perfect date night spot. read more

went for dinner nt knowing what to expect as this was our first time there, we were seated right away but asked to move as they were expecting a party of 10 and needed our seat but it was no big deal to move, we decided to just order a few appetizers to check the place out --the service was very good young woman was very attentive -the corn crab soup was good along with the breaded mushrooms but one of there specials was mussels very small and paper thin which was drowned in so much (what i think was cilantro sauce) that we couldn't finish them along with a 16 dollar price -i would go back to try other items but there are far better mussels in frederick read more

Get the Totchos. They are AMAZING!!!! Stopped by around 6pm on a Sunday evening and we're not disappointed. The owner/chef and waitstaff are fabulous. The food is awesome. This was an incredible find for my husband and myself this afternoon. They just opened 4 months ago....very brave in the middle of a pandemic . More power to them. Husband had the veggie burger with a large salad accompanying it. I had the fish and chips which was very much elevated over many I've had . A light batter and quickly fried . Ask for extra tarter sauce. The chef should bottle it. Beautifully decorated with blue and white colors - fresh and classic. The chef very kindly gave me the name of the blue paint color. I don't like to write negative reviews, but I had contacted the restaurant directly first and never heard back from them. 2 friends and I ordered take-out and none of the 3 of us were happy with our food! I actually threw mine away. The to-go containers were not appropriate for the dishes, the chicken pot pie was soup - thin & not thick and yummy- and the crabcake actually contained a paper label!! We stumbled upon Truth and Beauty yesterday evening. We ordered the fried pickles and Brussels to start. The fried pickles were great... instead of slices they were pickle spears - Deep fried but cool and crunchy on the inside. The Brussels were prepared with a Thai chili. My wife and I went out for a lunch/brunch and had figured we would try out this new restaurant on the Creek. When we entered, we were promptly greeted by the host and were seated inside (we wanted to sit outside because of the wonderful weather, but everyone else there already had that idea). Once seated, our drinks orders were taken and we were given ample time to review the menu. We decided on getting a few of the bacon pickled deviled eggs to start. For our entrees, we picked the Fish and Chips and the Sausage biscuit quiche (off the brunch menu). Being a new operation we know that things may take a while to get out of the kitchen, but the food came out promptly. The deviled eggs were lightly dusted with a seasoning salt and drizzled with a tangy balsamic reduction. About 10 minutes after we finished the light appetizer, our entrees came out. They were hot and smelled delightful. The fish has a perfect, golden crust and the homemade fries were crispy and well seasoned. The quiche had a well-baked biscuit crust which was fluffy and perfectly baked. When we had finished our meal, the owner/chef came out and personally asked us how our meal was and we told him that it was fantastic. He mentioned some fresh desserts that he had made for today (a berry crisp and a Tangerine Olive Oil cake). We told him that we would take him up on his offer and get a dessert next time we visit. He thanked us for our patronage and wished us a good day. We will definitely be back! read more

I love this new spot on Carroll Creek! It has beautiful outdoors views and spacious, indoor seating to ensure guests are more comfortable during the pandemic. All staff have been wearing masks - which is great for individuals who are high risk to the pandemic, like myself. They have a TON of delicious wines as well as a great selection of craft beer. The brussels sprouts are to die for. So good!! And fish and chips may also be the best I ever had. And the berry crumble for dessert....omg. SO GOOD!!! Highly recommend this new spot. read more

I love this place. The customer service is excellent. Love the outside view on the creek and they recently got new tables and chairs for outside. They have great happy hour and very accommodating for children. They have plenty of options for children.
