Truth BBQ lives up to the hype. I got the brisket, turkey, and jalapeño sausage, and all three were on point. The meat speaks for itself, but the sides are what really round out the meal. The tater tot casserole was the standout for me. Genuinely one of the best things on the table. Texas BBQ without sweet tea isn't Texas BBQ, and they deliver on that too. This is the best Texas BBQ I've had.
Was told this is one of if not the best BBQ in Texas/Houston area. Definitely did not disappoint. Lines are always long no matter what time you come(I got there 2:30) but it did move. They do some specials each day but I went with three meat plate with two sides. Speaking to a regular in line and she mentioned that turkey is great and tater tot casserole. The ribs particularly were incredible, literally fell off the bone. They offer sauces at the tables and dessert which was too much for me at that point but look fantastic. Employees working there were super nice and the dining area had a cool Texas feel to it. Bring your appetite and leave home any vegans
We were in the area visiting a friend in the hospital and were able to check this place out before they closed on a Saturday. We have been wanting to try this since we saw the Texas Monthly list. I called when we were headed over and they said "they were sold out of everything except brisket and sausage." That wasn't a problem for us since that's what we were going to order. We got in line around 7. There were about 50 people ahead of us. By 7:20 they made the announcement they were just down to chopped brisket. Again, we were ok with that too. By the time we got our sandwiches, they were pretty much out of sides too. We tried the beans and the last scoop of tater tot casserole. The chopped brisket was flavorful. The sides were both good. The customer service was great. We will definitely be back at a better time to try more.
Came here right when opening to avoid a line and found the experience to be okay. The flavor of the brisket was good and it had the ring you'd expect, but the temperature was very lukewarm. The tatertot casserole was interesting and the corn pudding was my favorite side! The brussel sprout were okay, a tad sweet for my palette. The house sausage was seasoned well and had a good snap to it, but similar to the brisket the temperature was also very lukewarm. Overall, I'd say it's okay. I think there is better bbq to be had in Houston probably. I wouldn't be back on my next trip to Houston.
Delicious BBQ! Lines seem long, but thats just the tight entrance space. I didn't get it, but I saw the beef ribs and they literally look like a dinosaur's leg humongous. I got the jalapeño cheddar sausage. It's not spicy, but definitely flavorful. The brisket is just amazing. I love that if you're not sure what side to get they'll let you sample a little bit so you can decide. The corn pudding is so delicious but I get it. It's not for everybody. Brussels sprouts are a top choice as well as the mac & cheese. The tea is super sweet so I recommend doing maybe a half-and-half, but they also have other drinks to choose from. If you're a pickle lover, you're absolutely going to love their pickles and want them to go!
I'm visiting Texas with my dad, he thinks this trip is about "learning the different cities." I'm here for BBQ. We showed up around 6pm and hit a 30-minute wait, which felt fair. Ordered about 3 lbs of pork ribs and half a pound of brisket. Let's start with the miss, I asked for fatty brisket and got mostly lean. That's not a small detail, it's kind of the whole point. The lean brisket lands around a 6, solid enough but lacking the richness you want. The few fatty pieces we did get were much better, around an 8, and honestly would be pushing a 9.5 if they were served hot. The ribs are where things get frustrating. Flavor, great. Texture, exactly what you want. But they came out warm, not hot, and that matters. If these ribs were served properly hot, they're easily a 10. As is, they drop to about a 7, which feels like a missed opportunity more than anything else. Cole slaw was a surprise standout, fresh, balanced, easy 9. The baked beans were pretty good as well, maybe slightly sweeter than my taste, but still solid, an easy 8. Service was genuinely good. At one point my dad mentioned needing silverware, and a staff member overheard and brought it over without us asking again. Small moment, but it stuck. All in, this is a place that's very close to being excellent but misses on execution in ways that are hard to ignore, especially at around $130 for two people. If I could land at a 3.5, I would. But factoring in value, this comes out to 3 stars.
This place does get pretty busy and the parking can be challenging. They have this window where you can see the staff seasoning the meats. All of the staff were friendly and upkeep the place really well. They give out samples of the brisket at the counter which i thought was neat. They had moist brisket, turkey, banh mi, sausage, and more. The variety of the menu is pretty unique for a bbq place. The inside is very spacious compared to other bbq places. They even had a bar around the corner. I tried the jalapeño sausage which had a little kick to it and I think some cheese. Then I tried the moist brisket and that was fatty and juicy. The ribs were also pretty soft and had a crispy outer layer. The Brussels sprouts were nicely cooked but not too heavy on flavor. The corn pudding was basically like a corn bread but with pieces of corn in it and tasted a little milky and soft. I would definitely recommend this place for their brisket.
Before you even step into Truth BBQ, you get a whiff of that smoky goodness that immediately makes your mouth water. We arrived around 4:45 on a weekday & there was already a line forming--always a good sign. We ordered the 2-meat plate (brisket & pork ribs, w/ mac & cheese & corn pudding) annnnnnnd then added another 1/2 lb of brisket plus the tater tot casserole & brussels sprouts because life's short and everything's bigger in Texas. My mama always said my eyes are bigger than my stomach... and she was right. I left in a full-on food coma for many hours. The 2-meat plate alone (especially with sides) is more than enough to share for two. Ambiance is nice and clean. There's outdoor seatings & they have everything you need. Verdict: they take their BBQ seriously. The brisket was tender, melt-in-your-mouth good, and the ribs had a deeper, smokier flavor. I'd probably pass on the mac & cheese next time, but the rest of the sides were solid. The tater tot casserole is a must, & the brussel sprouts were surprisingly really good--plus it makes you feel better like you got yo veggies in. 4.5 stars for me. Would be nice to have some more side veggie options & the ability to double the same type of protein for the 3 meat plate. The brisket was a tad on the dry side. Overall solid spot!
The line was out the door when we came by on a Sunday afternoon, but we decided to wait b/c when in Houston, we had to try this spot. My husband and I split the 3 meat plate with ribs, brisket, jalapeno cheddar sausage, tater tot casserole, mac & cheese, & we got a side of Brussels. Everything was delicious but the brisket was my fav. Worth the wait!
WOAH so delicious. My friends and I waited on line for probably 45 minutes on Valentine's Day AND in the pouring rain (there is a cover for the patio/outside line area so we were fine). I'd still say worth the wait. The food is prepared quickly once you get to the front of the line. with the meat freshly brought out and the sides at the counter, ready to be scooped into the serving size. The brisket was very good, although I'm not typically the biggest beef fan. Dare I say the turkey meat was the the best turkey Ive ever had in my life??? I had no idea barbecued turkey would be this good. wow. All the sides were delicious; Truth BBQ was great and I highly recommend for anyone visiting Houston!
Truth be told, Truth BBQ was just okay. Maybe you BBQ aficionados just have a different palate than myself, and that's okay, but I personally couldn't justify the 40 min wait. I was super disappointed that beef ribs are Saturday only! BOOOO! While you wait, they do give you a little sample of brisket once you make it to the front. The sample was super tender, so we ordered a 2 meat plate with brisket and pork ribs, as well as an additional 1 meat plate for extra brisket. Each plate comes with 2 sides, 2 slices of bread, and they also give you sides of pickles, pickled red onions, and pickled veggies. I really loved how colorful and full all the sides made the plate. Pickles are a nice way to cleanse the palate between bites! I personally do not care for sliced bread that isn't toasted, however these were very soft and fluffy, so my daughter ate one whole one. Our sides of choice were the tater tot casserole, corn pudding (basically a creamed corn casserole), potato salad, and baked beans. The sides are where it's at! The selection of sides is what brought me to Truth over all the other BBQ spots in the first place, so I was happy they didn't disappoint. Both the tater tot casserole and corn are a bit mushy, but I personally love that texture. The baked beans were soft and sweet, and the perfect complement to the other savory potato sides. BTW The potato salad gets topped with bacon bits! I asked the man serving the pickles if I could have a little extra bacon, which he wasn't stingy about at all, so I def appreciate the customer service! The pork ribs were tender but nothing to write home about. The brisket was super tender where the fat was, but pretty dry on the bottom half. They have 3 bbq sauces on the table (brown, yellow, white) and I didn't care for any of them :( Their drink selection is large, ranging from fountain drinks to lemonades to frescas. The mango fresca was my fav, followed by the strawberry watermelon! There were people walking around clearing the trays off tables, as well as a man walking around checking in with the customers and asking how things were. Everyone we met with was nice and friendly, and we appreciated the vibes. Right before you pay, there is a whole case of cakes and desserts. The cake slices are COLOSSAL so of course I had to get two to try lol Both the chocolate cake and carrot cake were bomb! The cake itself is so moist! I am a carrot cake girly and lemme tell you, I've had my fair share of carrot cakes. This one is by far one of the best I've ever tried! The cream cheese frosting actually has a cream cheese taste! It's smooth and slightly tangy. Absolute perfection. The cake itself has hella chopped nuts and carrots but no raisins, coconut shreds or pineapple pieces. Just the way I like it! The chocolate cake was also good, but I'm just not a chocolate girl the way my daughter is. With a glass of ice cold milk though, I would demolish that thing. Overall the meats wouldn't bring me back, but the cake would! Lucky for me, there's a separate door just for the bakery if that's all you're looking to get.
The wait is well worth it! We had about a 30 minute wait to get to the counter to order but the staff was really kind and food comes out as you order so its a smooth operation. We got a couple of mixed meat plates and the daily special which was a beef rib with a couple of different sides. The restaurant does fill up quickly so even though there is lots of seating inside and some on the outside patio, it may be hard for groups over 6 to sit together. They do have high chairs for babies and the staff work hard to keep the restaurant clean. Overall our favorites were the beef rib, sausage, Brussels sprouts and mac n cheese!
My review..My opinion..IJS... Visiting Houston saw the reviews and decided to stop by.. Everything was good..BBQ sauce was a bit off for my taste, but overall good.. Beans, Mac just ok.. Not my usually soul food BBQ. But a gave a 4 due to more commercial than down home Q. If you know you know.. My review.. My opinion..IJS.. Just a girl that loves good food!!

every single part was super flavorful - meat flavor came through and really good salty/peppery crust flavor too not super tender/fall apart-y. corn pudding: very good, lots of real corn pieces brussels sprouts: sauce was sooo yummy - it was a little sweet but not too much and not too oily either also the plate was really good value we got everything for $30 and it fed two ppl and the service was really good they were super generous and kind and the carver gave us some extra end pieces + samples :) Liked the red bbq sauce best although didn't need it. Nice bbq ambiance w/ music and clean. 10/10 experience read more

It was okay, but it definitely did not live up to the hype--and it most certainly wasn't worth $30 for a two-meat plate of underseasoned BBQ. I had the sausage and brisket, and both were a letdown. The three sauces were also disappointing, especially the white one, which tasted like watered-down mayonnaise. Surprisingly, the highlight of my meal wasn't the meat but the side dishes. The tater tot casserole and corn pudding were both really good--maybe even great--but I didn't come here for the sides, I came for the BBQ. On top of that, the restrooms were disgusting, with pubic hair all over the urinal. Not exactly a good impression. If money is no object, maybe you'll find some value here. But my budget is tight, and when I splurge, I expect it to be really good. Final thoughts: sure, give this place a shot--it might be right up your alley--but for me, it was a miss. read more
we came in at 6:30pm on Thursday, and there was no wait. Brisket: 4.5/5. We got some lean part, which was a little dry for me. The fatty pieces were great. Pork Ribs: 5/5. The meat came out right out of the bone! BBQ sauce: a little too sour for my taste. If you don't mind there are no beef ribs, this place is great. read more

Definitely a must visit! I see why it's Michelin star rated. Although the brisket is not as fatty as I'd like it, it's still good and everything else is delicious. The Brussels sprouts are amaze-balls. My husband even liked them and he hates Brussels sprouts. Mac and cheese is crunchy and perfect. Sweet potato soufflé is basically just pumpkin pie disguised as mush. The sausage tastes like a chili cheese hot dog according to my husband. Set up is like many of the other current bbq places- you stand in line outside the door and wait to get your food and then pay and find a table. While you wait outside, they have free water and also a bar with margaritas, beers and such. There are some bus-men that are super friendly and help get drinks and to go containers. Say hi to Jerry if you stop in. He's a nice gentleman! After eating all that food, I'm going to go take a full belly nap. read more

Service was quick and they were all super kind & patient. Brisket, tender and delicious. Smash burger, juicy and flavorful. Brussel sprouts were so crispy and flavorful. Corn pudding was sweet and smooth. Banana pudding?? You just have to try it, 10/10. The Mac & cheese was really creamy and smooth but my table and I agree that it needs a bit more flavor; maybe a splash of liquid smoke, pepper, and smoked paprika??? Came in with high expectations, and Truth exceeded them! I came in on a Friday afternoon around 2pm. The interior was clean, cute, and rustic. It was still lively and somewhat crowded, but not bad. I waited in line for about 10 minutes and was able to find a seat easily. Nothing was sold out yet. My partner and I ordered a 3 meat plate to share. We chose brisket (of course), house sausage, and pulled pork for the meats. Mac & cheese and corn pudding for the sides. The plate came with some fixings (pickled peppers, pickled red onions, and pickles) and bread at no additional cost. I thought the plate had the perfect amount of food for two people. The whole process was quick and easy, and at $42 for two people (including tip), I thought the price was very reasonable. Now, onto the food. The brisket was tender and juicy; not super fatty, but not too lean either. The pulled pork was soft and flavorful. The sausage was also delicious. Paired with the Truth BBQ sauce, it was just made for an incredible experience overall. As for the sides, I really loved the corn pudding, which was essentially just cornbread. It was perfectly sweet and a great way to end the meal. The mac and cheese was also very good, but a tad too salty in my opinion. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Truth and look forward to coming back! I think coming in on a weekday at lunch (especially after the initial lunch rush) is the way to go. read more

Family vacations take you all over the map. Being raised where Dallas is the closest major city to you, and then moving to the San Antonio area and then the Austin area, there was never a reason for me to make a stop in Houston, until now. Now, as a freethinker, I don't view the Texas Monthly BBQ list as gospel, but I do find it to be a great way to open your eyes to some of the highest quality BBQ places throughout the state. So, when there's a new list like this year, I want to try a majority of their top 50 because it's a well-thought-out and curated collection of some of Texas's best. My extended family had just finished a vacation out of Galveston, and of course, Houston is on the way back to Austin and Hutto. So, why not stop at what Texas Monthly says is the best BBQ in Houston: Truth Barbecue. After fighting to make it out of the cruise terminal, getting stuck behind a train, and navigating through the many fight-or-flight highways of Houston, we made it to Truth BBQ about 30 minutes before opening. There was a small line, but something still manageable compared to when I went to LeRoy and Lewis (an hour after they opened) and InterStellar (an hour before they opened) in Austin. I want to immediately highlight the space before discussing the experience. Truth already has a good-sized parking lot, with a gravel lot connected next to it, allowing for plenty of spaces. Some BBQ restaurants, especially in Austin, offer slim pickings, so you're parking in areas where you're praying you don't leave with your belly full and a boot on your tire. Truth is just slightly northwest of Downtown Houston, and while I was initially nervous about parking and safety, my arrival proved there was nothing to fear. The line's flow between the indoor and outdoor spaces was well managed. There's a good wraparound path to help filter customers, as well as an outdoor bar with drinks and a Yeti cooler dispenser filled with cold water. The little things like that matter. From the opening of the restaurant to sitting at our table, with about 20 to 30 people ahead of us in line, it took 35 minutes. That line moves at an efficient pace. Due to the sheer amount of food we had eaten on vacation, the four of us (myself, my girlfriend, my cousin, and her boyfriend) opted to do two three-meat plates, which frankly was a perfect size. We both went for the spicy pepper jack sausage, the brisket, and the pork ribs. They threw in some burnt ends on our tray as well. On the three-meat plate my girlfriend and I shared, we opted for tater tot casserole and Brussels sprouts. On their plate, they chose the pinto beans and the sweet potato soufflé. My cousin's boyfriend felt that, of all the BBQ places he had been to, sweet potatoes were an underrated option and something more places should explore. The face he made when he found out Truth had a sweet potato side was one for the history books. As we sat down and began to feast, you could hear curated blues music blasting in the background. It turned the BBQ spot into a chapel and made our meal a religious experience. I will now discuss the food item by item: Brisket: Juicy, fatty, and delicious. Some of the best brisket I've had so far on my barbecue journey. The bonus burnt ends, without even asking, earn some extra points. Spicy Pepper Jack Sausage: I think it's cool to see how different establishments play with their sausage, especially spicy sausage. Everyone does jalapeño sausage now, so to create a unique variation makes it more memorable. The pepper jack sausage is distinct and helps trademark the restaurant's unique approach. It has the right kick for a spicy link and a flavor profile I haven't encountered elsewhere. Pork Ribs: I'd say the ribs here are comparable to other high-level ribs. They're smokier than most but still melt in your mouth and fall off the bone. Not my favorite ribs, but still impressive. Tater Tot Casserole: A better version of the hash brown casserole at Cracker Barrel. It's cheesy, and the French onion topping adds a great touch. I'd eat a whole quart by myself. Brussels Sprouts: Underrated and well executed. I've had glazed Brussels sprouts before and loved them. These could go bar-for-bar with the best I've had. Sweet Potato Soufflé: I agree with my cousin's boyfriend. BBQ joints should invest in sweet potato sides. The soufflé here complements the BBQ beautifully. I thought their traditional OG BBQ sauce was good but nothing special. Their Stay Gold mustard sauce was excellent, especially on the brisket. The other sauce, what we initially thought was a specialty ranch, turned out to be their White Lightnin' Sauce based on Alabama white sauce. Mixed with the mustard sauce, it was top notch and added some zest to the tater tot casserole. As a whole, Truth is up there with some of the best BBQ I've had while exploring options in Texas. I recommend it to anyone who has an opportunity to stop by while in Houston. read more
Must go BBQ place in Houston - arguably the best there is. Went with a group of 8 people and staff was friendly in helping us figure out how much food to get. We got the Texas Trinity - brisket, ribs, sausage (house + jalapeno). The brisket was a bit dry, but the rest were spot on. Team later told me it's due to the doors opening and closing (because the line was so long). Try to get there early and prepare for a line. The sides ranked in my opinion (1) brussel sprouts (2) tater tot casserole (3) potato salad (4) coleslaw - all were awesome. Only complaint is it's a tad oily. Lots of indoor seating and space, super casual spot. read more

Went to 3 different BBQ spots while in Houston. This was hands down the best one. Brisket was great, BBQ was great, service was incredible. Will definitely try again. read more
I appreciate how much seating there was for a BBQ place for inside and outside. The meats were really good but what really sold me was the sides. The tator tot casserole and brussel sprouts were easily the most delicious and memorable for me. I did wish that the amount of sides were more for the price of the shebang. We did looked over at other tables that had the same sides as us and they did have more than us so not sure if it was due to the combo or maybe the server didnt provide us as much compared to others but its something to mention. I did wish there were more parking spots for the location and maybe some fans outside since there were long lines wrapped around. read more
First visit and I thought the food was good. I had a 3 meat plate Ribs were fall off the bone with some seasoning but I added bbq sauce. Turkey was moist and flavorful. Jalapeño cheese Sausage was a whole link. IMO it he cheese was a little dry. Sides Baked beans were ok. Potato salad. Love this with bacon and dill. Really tasted the dill Chocolate cake. Great. I shared it with 2 others huge slice Price. Very reasonable compared to Dfw prices. Great experience. read more
This was one of the best barbecue experiences of my life. Mostly because I got to do what I love best, which is order way too much meat and share it with a bunch of people I love. But also because Truth has outstanding barbecue, and more. The pork ribs are tender and unctuous and peppery and exactly what I want to eat all the time for the rest of my life, assuming that wouldn't kill me very quickly. They are my favorite thing here. The brisket is very good. The house sausage and the jalapeno/cheddar are both great (didn't love the boudin special, but maybe I just don't love boudin). The turkey is a winner. They know their meat. Truth also gets right what a lot of barbecue places get wrong. Namely: 1. The sides are not just an afterthought. The brussels sprouts are legitimately one of the best things I ate here. The corn pudding and the tater tot casserole and the mac and cheese are all equally well done. They put love and care into their sides instead of just focusing on the meat. 2. They thought about the line. There's a counter to order drinks, it's shaded, and you get to watch an army of guys trimming and slicing meat while you wait. It makes waiting a lot less of a chore. 3. The entire staff is so friendly, from the dude slicing the meat to the guys clearing tables in the dining room (which is open and airy and a great spot to eat). I don't know that I've ever felt that welcome at a barbecue spot. They even tell you to come check out the pits and ask all the questions you want if that's your thing. 4. They care about presentation. Don't get me wrong, a pile of sliced brisket is always going to be beautiful, but they go the extra mile and place artfully arranged piles of pickled onions and cucumbers (at no extra cost), a touch that makes the photos pop, and also cuts through the rich meat. I appreciate that. 5. They offer combo plates. There are a lot of spots that will just sell meat by the pound. But most of us want to try all the things, and this gives people the opportunity to do just that. We did order by the pound because we had a big group, but I love that I could come in by myself and still get brisket, ribs, and sausage (as nature intended). The only problem I ran into at Truth is that they just don't have enough parking for all the people that want to eat here. I parked in front of a dumpster and worried about getting towed until I bit into the ribs, at which point I didn't think about anything else. read more
I went for "the whole shabang" at [Restaurant Name]: brisket, ribs, pulled pork, turkey, and sausage. While I ordered mac n' cheese, and tater tots on the side. Portions were decent. The brisket was the absolute star - incredibly juicy and super tender. Truly a highlight. The ribs, pulled pork, and sausage were good but wasn't a wow factor , and the mac n' cheese and tater tots were amazing as well. Expect long wait times during opening/lunch but waiting in the heat? Finally tried Truth BBQ on July 3rd this past week. The line wasn't bad, regardless of what you've heard it's pretty normal for a bbq restaurant. We got there at 10:45 and the doors opened at 11, it took us at most 15 mins to get our food to table. I tried the 3 meat plate with brisket, brisket boudin and spicy pepper jack sausage with tater tot casserole and Mac and cheese. The brisket was thick cut which I liked but had more fat than I prefer, I like a lean piece of brisket but it was still good. The boudin was the least satisfying part of the meal, it seems smoking the boudin dried it out. The spicy pepper jack sausage was different but good, it tasted more like chorizo than your typically jalapeño sausage. Tatertot casserole was amazing, you've got to try that. The Mac and cheese was also pretty good. Overall I live a decent ways from here so I have a couple BBQ joints I would go to before trotting downtown for this one. I still believe my 6 plus years in the hill county spoiled my bbq tastebuds because I have not found anything that holds the same quality in my home city. read more

First of all, we loved Jerry! Thanks for interacting with our table and taking care of customers. Excellent service. There was about a 40 minute wait at opening which wasn't bad at all. The moist brisket is mouth water. A great selection of beers. The tater tot casserole is a MUST. Great pickles as well. Everything is top notch and also really well priced. Oh and that pepper jack sausage was in my top sausages ever. The place is big and open and clean. Good vibes for a BBQ joint. Loved it! read more
Flavorful, and huge. The ribs were so good the meat fell right off the bone. That with a lil bit of the bbq sauce and it was perfect. The brisket was tender and juicy cut into huge slabs. For sides I got the mac n cheese, tater tot casserole, and they gave me some Brussels to try(thank you!!!)! My favorite was def the sprouts (wish I got more lol) and the tater tot casserole. The Mac and cheese was good just extremely rich. Aside from the 2 meat plate. I got a side of the corn pudding since my friend was hyping it up. So good! Like a gooey cornbread mixed with a can of creamed sweet corn. It was lighter than I expected it to be too! It's def a must get. I loved how you order too. It's like a chipotle or subway but for bbq so you get your food right away if you're building a plate. It gets super busy but there is a good amount of seating and the parking lot extends quite far. read more
BBQ FANS-------- Let me tell you this BBQ is a breath of fresh air!! I have eaten ALOT of BBQ in Texas but this restaurant just hits different! I ordered the Pork Ribs and Brisket and it was veryyyyyyy DELISH! Brisket so tender and Pork ribs falling off the bone melting in your mouth. That is not the only best part about it even the sides were on point! The Mac and cheese a fave! My toddler even gave it a ten a devoured the damn pint! It was cheesy flavorful and real Mac noodle. The vibe was there and love the seating was so comfortable to eat it all! You can choose outside and inside seating and it's dog friendly. Did I mention they even have extra fixins... The pickles, red onions, and jalopenos in vinegar just ties it all together! Lastly they have a BBQ sauce that fits every taste bud. They have the original bbq style, a vinegar style, and one that is more of a mustard style and all are so tasty! So go try them out and enjoy the life of BBQ on another level! I think this is the best bbq in Houston! I also tried Pinkerton and the pit room and this was my fav. The Brussels sprouts were so good and it was nice having some veggies. Best Barbecue In Texas. Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide. I've never been a big fan of bbq, but have tried it so many times as a Houstonian. Truth BBQ is unmatched. The brisket is smoked over 16+ hours and is perfectly seasoned and juicy. Any of the sides are a perfect accompaniment and this meal will definitely knock you out. On Saturdays only, until sellout, they sell a HUGE bbq beef rib that comes with a loaf of bread, plenty of sides, and a container of barbecue sauce. it could easily feed a family of four. You stand in line until it's your turn to choose your plate and the line moves fairly quickly. I recommend going at odd times to avoid the line. you may risk them running out of certain things but going after 1:30 is usually best if you wanna avoid waiting in the heat in the line. Then you sit down inside where there is ample indoor seating and tons more bbq sauce if you need it. The vibe is casual. You may get your clothes dirty lol. You can also order pickup which helps to avoid all this. Friendly people, delicious food, traditional barbecue. This is the place to bring anyone visiting Texas. read more

Every time I pass this place there's always a line outside the door, so I wanted to see what the hype was about. I'm not huge bbq person but the food here was delicious! I'm truly impressed. We got a brisket sandwich and the 3 meat/2sides plate. The brisket was perfection!!!! The jalapeño cheese sausage was very flavorful. The tator-tot casserole was also super good. All the staff members we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. There's a lot of seating and it was very clean. I had a good experience and I would 100% recommend this place! read more
Truth is one of my favorite bbq places in Houston! There is a reason it was Michelin recognized. I would suggest to expect a wait. I went when it opened at 11 and still had to wait a minimum an hour and a half to actually get to the counter and order food. Parking was also tight and you had to fight in the lot. The parking fits around 30 cars. It is definitely worth it, but I wouldn't recommend if you are in a rush. You have the options of what they have until they sell out. I highly recommend the brisket - obviously though! The sausage wasn't my favorite. My favorite sides were the Mac and cheese, brushed sprouts. They were delicious - I highly recommend. I would not suggest the potato salad. I thought it was typical and nothing was too special with that one. After you order there is a seating area of around 40/50 seats. You self serve drinks and utensils. Interior feels like a typical bbq joint with wooden designs and cowboy imagery. read more

I asked a fellow Yelp friend who recently moved from Houston to Arizona what he recommends we check out and we were given a few BBQ recommendations with Truth being the top choice. Turns out our Airbnb is pretty nearby the heights location. We had to go. We showed up around 10:30am to get into line for the 11am opening on Sunday. We were happy with our place in line, since it got really long after us. Like really long. The wait felt like it went by fairly quickly but we did wait at least 30 mins, maybe 45, and it was totally worth it. I don't usually wait like this for places. Glad I did today! This is hands down some of the best BBQ I've had. We split the ribs, sausages, and of course brisket. We also sampled the turkey breast and it was so tender and juicy. The sides we had were Mac-n-cheese and Brussels sprouts. Dang those were good, don't sleep on the Brussels lol. This is a very easy review-- 5 stars, everything I ate was delicious, and I loved the sides, pickles, picked veggies, and their bbq sauces. So so good!! We got a combination of meats and the sides. I loved the brisket and the pork ribs. I know another spot had beef ribs as well but this place didn't seem to have that. I felt like the meats were good but they lacked a little bit of seasoning. I enjoyed the corn pudding side and the cole slaw. My friends enjoyed the brussel sprouts and the tater tot casserole. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and how we could ask for more bread with our meals. They have an open bar to the side where we could go get drinks after our order. The places is pretty big with lots of room but we still had to line up before ordering. Someone said it was part of the experience ;) Overall, the meat was warm and delicious and the sides were great. Would have definitely liked having pickled jalapenos or some spice added to the options but they had some great sauce options at the table. Our group enjoyed the honey mustard sauce at the table. I took some friends from out of town and they enjoyed the Texas bbq experience. read more
Visiting Texas for few days and was recommended to go here for BBQ. Bbq was delicious eating the Tri tip, pulled pork, ribs, Mac & cheese, Brussels sprouts, and baked pork beans. Second BBQ spot we tried in Houston and this one was gooooood. At first we stood in line, but was too hungry to wait so we ordered to go and waited about 25-35 mins. We ordered the brisket, corn pudding, Mac n cheese, and the Brussels sprouts. Order came with bread, pickled onions, & pickles, & one of their bbq sauces. The brisket was moist, melted in your mouth, and had such a good smoked taste. First time having corn pudding and I was obsessed, soft mouth feel bread pudding with bits of corn and it wasn't super sweet just right to compliment the meat. The Mac n cheese was cheese and creamy, but I wasn't a fan of the cheese they used other wise I would say it was pretty good. The brussel sprouts were a hittaaaa!! Idk what they used to season it but damn we ate it like chips. Would definitely come back here when I visit Houston again. read more

Stopped by this place after a cruise and it definitely did not disappoint! The line was long but moved really fast. The sides were the star of the show in my opinion, with the brussel sprouts and potato salad being the best I've had at a BBQ place. We loved sitting outside during our meal! read more
Checked this place out after their Michelin nod with the bib gourmand. We got here at 6:40 in a Thursday, and there was a small line in front of us. A decent sized line also formed behind us so looked like a rush hour. By the time we got to the front (~ 7pm), they'd let us know they were out of all the ribs and the house sausage. Even so, I got some brisket, their last house sausage, and some tater tot casserole. Seating here is pretty big so I don't imagine you'd have issues. The brisket is definitely one of their best items here, with the smokiness and fattiness coming through. The house sausage was also good although I would've liked more of a snap. The casserole was good but too salty. My favorite side I tried was either the Mac or potato salad. read more

On average how long is the line around 11 or 12 on a weekday?
We waited about 30 minutes on a Friday. Got there 15 mins before open. Wasn't bad at all.

The dining room was only closed for 2 months last year. It's been open ever since.
