BUYER BEWARE. Run as far away from this business and its owner, Shay Struthers, as possible. Paid 25k up-front for a 30-day dump bed installation involving a bed that was already fabricated and in stock. Had to file a lawsuit at 104 days after a month of being ghosted and the truck still unfinished due to "waiting on parts" I could have gotten myself in 24 hours. Dishonest representations, fraudulent claims, payment for services never rendered, and zero communication. Doing business with this individual is a huge risk. One star is one too many. I entered into a contract with Truxas Sales, Inc. in February 2025 for a custom-built 2022 Peterbilt 579 dump truck. The contract estimated completion in approximately three months. The project ultimately took over a year to complete. The truck appears to have been built largely according to the specifications I ordered, and Truxas provided a $5,000 discount due to the delays. However, my biggest concern has been communication and follow-through. After making the final payment in full on June 10, 2026, I expected to promptly receive the original signed title and a scheduled delivery date. As of the date of this review, I have not received the title, a tracking number for the title, or transportation scheduling information. For a transaction involving more than $150,000, timely communication, title transfer, and delivery coordination are extremely important. I hope this matter is resolved quickly, but my experience has been frustrating due to the lengthy delays and lack of clear communication after final payment. I gave a 78k deposit in Oct 2024 with the promise of my truck that i purchased from shae a 2019 peterbuilt with 256k miles on it . he assured me that the conversion would only take 3 months . in March I paid a additional 40k since shae said my truck is weeks away from being done . it's now July 18th and I'm still waiting. lots of excuses can't keep a welder , I changed the bed up last minute even though he said if I chose it he had everything In stock . week after week excuses . so far I've gotten 2 pics of the truck and one of a bed thats only half way done . I've sent numerous messages and asked for pics of the truck , the motor , the tires , and work done, I have yet to get any . I'm worried that the motor is either swapped out or the gage is tampered with . buyer Beware so far it's over 10 months and not truck or pics . This truck better be exactly what is stated in my documents without any tampering . Shae I really gave you a chance to do right but you have shown you are not in business for the right reasons. I've lost a half of year of work @40k a month , plus insurance, rental spot, truck payments, etc . Also the tires on the truck looked weathered so all need to be new and replaced . *In response to the owners comments on my original review* The pictures i posted are proof that I am not exaggerating. $2000 in repairs were made to the AC alone... that is a lot more than just not blowing cold enough. You can clearly see the condition of the tires and the poor craftsmanship of the bed. The truck showed up in an unsafe condition to operate and that is a fact you cannot deny. I did not request new drive tires at the time of purchase however i Shouldn't have to considering i was told the truck would be delivered in "ready to work" condition. I assumed that meant the tires would be road worthy as well. I gave you every opportunity to make right on your end before I posted anything negative about you or your company but after weeks of you ignoring me I knew you were not willing to work with me. My intention is not to slander Truxas, just to make others aware of your dishonesty and sub-par quality. (Original Review Below) Completely unprofessional and dishonest. I would not recommend giving this company your business. I bought a truck from Truxas in December 2021 that was supposed to be finished by the end of February. I didn't take possession of the truck until the end of July (5 months behind schedule) One excuse after another why the truck wasn't completed on time. Then it shows up not even road worthy. Leaking air everywhere (tanks would be completely empty after about 30mins of sitting) AC was broken, 6 of the drive tires were almost 9 years old and were complete trash (I had to replace them all within the first 2000 miles) Not to mention 5 months of lies along the way. (Waiting on steel, waiting on a new clutch, waiting on parts for the axle, waiting for a driver to show up, etc) Shea and Daniel tell me they put on new parts but come to find out from the mechanic, they just took used parts off other trucks. Upon purchase I was told the truck had less than 3000 hours, but at delivery there's over 9000 hours on the meter. Truck showed up filthy, the chrome looked like it was polished by a child and so does half of the welds on the dump body, there were paint pen marks all over the bed where they installed the lights after it was painted, the PTO was leaking hydraulic oil, paint overspray everywhere... the list goes on and on. Shea swore up and down during the entire process that he was going to make it right in the end... he paid to have the AC fixed and threw in a used front bumper that was it... I've put almost $10,000 into the truck since I received it just to get it on the road legal and to pass inspection. Shea has taken zero responsibility for any of it. Long story short - I gave these guys the benefit of the doubt mainly because I feel that for every bad review you read, there's a handful of people that have had a good experience... but after everything Ive dealt with I would be inclined to say the good reviews on here are the fake ones. Horrible company and horrible customer service and DO NOT PUT A DEPOSIT DOWN!!! I was dealing with a salesman name Shay, I was looking at a specific truck so we could build a 6 axle dump truck. Shay informed he had one or could find one. After sending me a couple of trucks that did NOT appeal to us he then said we would need to send him a $1000 deposit to show that we were serious buyers. We sent him a $1000 deposit and he sent over a couple of other ideas which we were interested in but, the price was much higher than we expected and what we told him in advance what our budget was. After a couple of weeks of emails back and forth we bought a truck from a private party and requested our $1000 to be refunded. He told me that is was a NON refundable deposit! First we were told that!!! He said that it was refundable in the beginning... According to Texas law any non refundable deposits must be disclosed in writing and signed by the depositor. With that said we could sue him and prevail in small claims but of course we are in Oregon not in Texas and he plays this as he has done this many times in the past! If there was a worst review than 1 star this would be the place. Worst customer service and false advertisement please don't put a deposit down here. Shay is the worst dealer in the world and doesn't care for anything after deposit. If you don't believe check the reviews out it's only a 2 star because of the fake reviews otherwise it would be zero stars. Tired of the fake promises and I assure you your truck won't be ready in 2 weeks. Had been months and they always lie about fake due dates and make stuff up that's wrong with the truck. From the reviews I read if you do get your truck it's always going to have problems. The only positive reviews are the fakes ones. Look at them before buying from these thief's and save yourself ! FINALLY I was waiting for a response and I can prove I'm a real customer with my receipts. The proof of me being right it's written in all your responses why would this many people put fake bad reviews. BUYER BEWARE!! DO NOT GIVE TRUXAS YOUR BUSINESS!!! I recently tried to purchase a dump truck through this company and there is absolutely ZERO customer service. We left many phone messages for Shay Struthers asking him to send over his inventory and he was so unresponsive. I even tried sending emails to get information on specific trucks and nothing Finally, we got a hold of Shay (by luck) and he gave us information on a truck , so after 2 weeks of constant calling and emailing I received a Purchase Order. Because of the shady start I received from Truxas, I pulled a CARFAX. Well my gutt was right!! The mileage they were advertising was 408K but the miles recorded in 09/2017 was 528K AND they failed to tell me the truck was in an accident with a 84K claim. When we emailed Jesse Matlock with what we found on CARFAX he never responded!! SO BUYER BEWARE!! DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! Be very leery of doing business with this company. There is always an excuse why work doesn't get done. We lost a painter, we lost a welder, the machine we use to lift the tank broke down.... I read the reviews online before deciding to do business with this company but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. From my experience with this company the reviews are probably all true. After sending a deposit to hold a vacuum tank, I repeatedly asked for more detailed pictures of the interior to see the condition. I kept getting excuses why Shay, or anyone else couldn't get to the location where the tank was stored to take pictures and send them to me. I was told by Shay that as soon as he got the initial payment for half the cost of the work he would get the tank into the paint shop right away. I took a gamble, without seeing the inside of the truck, to head to Texas. I got the address where the tank was located and stopped there on my way to the shop, to inspect the tank. Thankfully it was in good shape. I drove 1600 miles to get my truck down to Houston and got it there May 5th. I flew back home that day and called Shay on May 7th to see where I would be on the schedule. He informed me he was finishing up a truck and would be done with it by May 10. The following week he would be getting some looses ends tied up with other projects and they would start working on my truck on May 20th and it would take between 1 to 2 weeks to finish I called back on May 24th to get an update and I was told by Jesse that my truck was being worked on and it would be done the following week. My return flight was scheduled for May 30th and Jesse advised I make it for the following week to give them extra time in case they ran into problems. I rescheduled my flight for June 7th ($300 rebooking fee). I called Shay on June 4th to make sure the truck would be ready to pick up on the 7th. Shay said it wasn't going to be done and told me to pick a date and he would make sure it would be done. I told him I wanted it done by June 13 and I wanted the final invoice and pictures of the finished truck by that day. I rescheduled my flight for June 14 ($200 rebooking fee). I called repeatedly to get updates before the 14th with no call backs and no info. Finally on June 14th at 9:00 pm I got a text saying the truck wasn't done but it would be done by Monday, June 17 but give him until Wednesday June 19 in case there are issues when finishing things up. I rescheduled my flight for June 24th ($200 rebooking fee) I finally got pictures of the truck on June 20th and I noticed there were only 3 bolts (out of at least 12) holding the rear bumper on and there were several light sockets that just had wiring hanging out with no lights installed. I responded on June 21st asking about the unfinised work and didn't initially get a response. I sent a message saying I was flying down on June 24th and I wanted everytihng done because I was fed up and I was taking my truck home that day. I got a response back saying Monday works and that the work was already done. I flew down Monday, June 24th and when I get to the shop I still see wires hanging out of the body with no lights attached. The rear bumper wasn't painted like it was supposed to be and none of the extra work I had asked about was done. The 2 toolboxes that were pictured in the original advertisement were not mounted on the bumper. While I'm waiting for the work to get done on my truck Jesse asked me if Shay told me I needed a certified check or wire transfer for the final payment. I told him he didn't say anything. I had only brought my business checkbook which is the same account they had cashed $10,000 for my deposit and half the project cost and had that money for the previous 7 weeks. I was told the truck wouldn't be released to me without the certified check or wire transfer and I needed to call my bank. The bank I have been with for 40+ years is a small town bank that doesn't have branches outside of PA. I called them and asked how I could get either a wire transfer or a cashier's check being 1600 miles away. They said there wasn't any way to do it without me being at the bank. Shay finally took my business check but was worried I would stop payment on it because that had happened in the past....gee I wonder why. I bought a dump truck From Shay at Truxas and it was the worse piece of garbage I have ever purchased in my life... Shay gave me the run around and has been since I put money down... The odometer was tampered with as he advertised and sold me a truck with 335K and in reality the truck had over 750k on it... The workmanship was terrible and he knew exactly what he was doing by ripping me off... Everything was absolute garbage from the box to the hoist the motor trans clutch radiator etc, etc, etc... Please be warned that he will use every tactic in the book and is quite good at his craft... Be aware as Shay will take your money and feel zero remorse... I have a pending law suit against them and will do everything in my power to be sure they do not get away with this kind of thing in the future...
