I ordered some items at Truya Sushi in Santa Clara. I placed orders via Uber Eats and Door Dash, both for pickup. They have a large variety of items as well as Sushi classes, catering, delivery ect. We went to pick up Friday around 5:30pm and the place was mostly empty. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and there was no problem finding parking. The items were ready for us, the woman checked our receipt, handed us the items and left. It could be a language barrier. The place has plenty of seating and nice and quiet with a Sushii bar as well. When we went home and unpacked the items, I noticed something missing. We ordered mussels and on both sites - Uber and Door Dash, it showed 6 pieces but what was packed for is was only 5 pieces. When I called to ask about it, I was told that they no longer provide 6 pieces just 5, they are trying to keep costs low. But the pictures on the ordering sites show 6 pieces and he said that he would make sure that the pictures are updated! The food was good but not exceptional. They are competitively priced. Decent sushi bar. Service was a bit slow considering I had gone for takeout at 5 pm so no other patrons were there. I liked the fact that they had a seperate vegetarian menu. I got the sweet tempura roll, pickled tofu roll and the avo,mushroom,cuc roll. The tofu one was my favorite. While the sushi was good, it was predominantly a thick layer of rice with very little filling inside. I would have preferred it reversed. We came here on a Sunday night to get sushi and whie dup bap (how it's spelled on their menu). I was looking specifically for this type of sushi donburi that has salad and spicy Korean sauce (gochujang). Not all sushi restaurant will offer this and I thought this one definitely one of the better tasting ones. It was a deal for getting a large plate with rice, salad and sashimi. I like adding a lot of gochujang before mixing it all together. The garlic and fresh jalapeños gave it a nice kick. Overall, both me and my husband really enjoyed this. We'll definitely come back for hwe dup bap. It was our first time here and it's a good spot if you want to watch a sports game since there are TVs you can watch them on. Parking is very limited so it may be hard to find a parking spot. I didn't get to try any sushi rolls but I'm definitely coming back to try more. read more

Came here with my friend for sushi following a workout at the nearby 24 hr fitness. I ordered the two option bento box. The salmon teriyaki was delicious and I really enjoyed the sushi part as well. A miso soup was promised as part of the bento box but that didn't come. Our waitress may have just forgotten and by then I was full so I didn't need it after all haha. This is definitely a hole in the wall. We came late at night and they seated us immediately. They have parking out front and also in the back (but the back is pretty dark) and there were some people hanging out along the alley so I'd avoid. Great food and good service. Food 5/5 This review is for orders completed via Uber Eats. I've probably ordered here atleast 10 times and each time I've never been disappointed, overall (timing, flavor, presentation, etc). They also always wrap the gunkan items in cling wrap so the orders are still visually neat by the time it gets here so I definitely appreciate that alot. Cumulatively I've had: - Salmon sashimi: buttery, tasted clean, no pungent fishy or wet mop smell - Baked mussels - Amebi: sashimi/nigiri part had a creamy flavor with some crunchiness texture. For the deep fried head, it's always filled with tomalley and they use a good amount of seasoning - Ikura - Uni - Fried soft shell crab - Hamachi kama There was only 1 time where the uni tasted a teensy bit funky, but that didn't hinder me from ordering other items from here again. The time I got the fried soft shell crab, it also had a little too much batter for my preference. Other than these two instances, I'd definitely recommend getting the other items on here as the price point isn't ridiculous. read more

It was mine & my husband's first time here. It was a late night dinner after church so we didn't get there until close to 9pm and they close at 9:30pm, so service was not a problem. I ordered the TNT Roll, Firecracker Hama Roll, and my husband ordered the combo bento box and Lion King roll. Service was good and the rolls were good but I probably won't get the Firecracker Hama Roll again as it was a bit fishy for me. The TNT Roll and Lion King roll were really good! I got 2 bento boxes with salmon teriyaki, beef teriyaki, tempura, and California maki. I don't like salad so I asked for an extra miso soup instead, which they did for me. Everything was very good. Two pieces of salmon with crispy skin. 6 nice size maki pieces. Tasty miso soup with good seaweed. Tender beef. Tempura had 8 pieces of veggies and 2 shrimp, all very good and crispy even when delivered. This is my new go to sushi spot! read more

The rolls seemed like they were created by a total amateur... Roughly cut, uneven pieces, at room temp and such tiny portions. I make sushi at home and it looks and tastes better. This place also had a really weird (and fishy) smell when we entered which everyone knows isn't desirable when you're eating raw food. The 1 star is for service which was fairly prompt and the chef at the sushi bar seemed like a good dude but it doesn't matter if this is the quality of food they're producing. You can redeem the offer straight off your phone without needing to print it out. They offer delivery, and indeed I saw yellow delivery bags along the bar counter being setup to be delivered. Sushi delivery! What a great concept. INSIDE: Small place with a narrow setup. We sat at the bar so we could be near the TV, which was on near the front entrance showing the Warriors basketball game. There are extra wooden sushi boats stored by the front entrance, which didn't seem like a good place to put them because it made the entrance area look cluttered. Mom and pop feel. LOCATION: It's located near Lawrence Expressway on El Camino Real in Santa Clara. It is located next to a sex shop haha. Parking is limited out front. OVERALL: The server was attentive and we got our rolls right away by sitting at the bar because the sushi chef handed it directly to us. I feel really bad to give one star, but this place is horrible. I blame it on buying restaurant.com certificates (NEVER AGAIN!) and taking me to these crap holes and still paying a lot. came here for dinner as my friend was craving sushi and i realized i had a dozen certificates i had yet to use. I read reviews, and warned her they were mixed, and may not be good. So went in with neutral expectations. Walk in, and 3 people sitting at the bar. The waitress walks towards them and tells us to sit at any table, in a rude way. We had a choice of all 10 tables so sat down. She gave us menus. And no water until we had to ask. Asked if we got miso soup, and she said no. This waitress had a beyond rude tone by the way, was not digging her at all. I asked if we could get one anyways, and she brought 2 when I didnt want one. I told her I didnt want any, and she huffed, well, I wont charge you. Fine. Decided on a few rolls. Spicy Tuna, Rainbow, Blossom, Shrimp Tempura, and Macadamia as I had read they were good. Spicy tuna and rainbow came out first. My first bite, I almost gagged. The rice was sooo mushy, and they pack a lot on. The tuna...didnt taste like tuna. I dont eat sashimi, so for me to tell the raw fish is bad, or doesnt taste the way it should taste...is PRETTY darn bad. the rainbow roll, i couldnt even take another piece. The CA roll...like how can you even go wrong with CA roll? The cherry blossom was worse, with all that nasty old tuna around it. My friend was collecting a plate full of the mushy rice, and I started to take off the rice too. The macadamia had a macadamia nut, smoked salmon and cream cheese. It was slightly okay because all those flavors kind of took away all the nastiness from the tuna, but still, that mushy rice!!! Disgusting! The tempura roll was the most decent out of all of em, but basically since we just ate the tempura shrimp. So I hand her my restaurant.com certificate at the end. I feel service is horrible if you show it at the beginning and youre forced to pay 18% gratuity anyways. She takes awhile to do her calculations, and says the total came out to $43, do we want to order $2 more or just add it on? First of all, hell no, am I buying $2 worth more of stuff here, and second off, it was a $25 certificate and minimum order was $35. I tell her, no we ordered at least $35, and that's what it's for. Then she gets all exasperated with me, and says, no, its $45, you only ordered $43! And asked if I just wanted her to charge the extra $2. I tell her again, it's $35 minimum, and she goes back and checks. Doesnt apologize and says something to the sushi chef, and comes back with the bill. I still ended up paying $30. Ugh. For food I didn't enjoy and forced myself to eat as it was my idea to come. To think, it was me telling my friend I did not want to go to Ariake, and instead wasted $30 plus cost of certificate for a horrific dinner. NEVER again. read more
