I've been here many times, and the food is always consistently good! The staff is friendly and provides great service. It does tend to get busy, so you may have a little wait for your food, but it's definitely worth it. The shrimp Rasta pasta was creamy, flavorful, and had the perfect amount of spice, plus they give a generous portion of shrimp. After a long and exhausting week, coupled with a craving for fried fish we elected to go here. While nicely decorated, the interior is small and can seat about 20 ppl or so. We sat outside this day, as the weather was mild and there wasn't any available seats inside. We ordered a fried combo and a grilled combo. TrySeafood does a lot of things right. Portion size was fairly generous. We especially love the fact they serve cleaned jumbo shrimp. Food was cooked well, shrimp was tender as was scallops. The broccoli was not tender crisp nor mushy. The potatoes and corn were delicious. While service was friendly, it was a bit slow. Also, I'm not an Old Bay fan. The grilled shrimp were seasoned with Old Bay. While the fish was crispy, I prefer a cornmeal dredge to a flour dredge. Finally, (and this could have been a me thing) the tip percentage on the screen doesn't align with the math. I intended to tip 15% - which is standard especially considering slow service. That should have been approx $8 and when I got home I realized it was approximately $16. You're not given a printed receipt and if you're in a rush and going through the process quickly it's easy to miss. Again I may have missed something, but I'm pretty sure I selected the %15 option. I have had TrySeafood on my list for some time now. I was in the area getting my car serviced and the day had finally come!!!! It was a busy Friday afternoon on a gorgeous day, and it was busy. TrySeafood is located within a shopping area with plenty of parking. There are a few outdoor tables and about five or six indoor tables. I ordered my food to go. There's a lovely young lady at the front, who I believe may be the owner (she's from NY). She was so wonderful. It took about 10 minutes for me to decide and place my order, there are so many options and I love seafood. I ended up ordering the fried catfish & shrimp combo with French fries. You can choose between fried or grilled. It took about 20 minutes for my food to be ready as they fry the food once it's ordered. While I waited, I observed several regulars coming to dine & many who said they would be back. I ended up trying my food as soon as I got in the car. The catfish & shrimp were seasoned and fried perfectly!!! I mean absolutely perfect & delicious. I definitely should have gotten one of their homemade sides, because the French fries were cold and bland. Other patrons told me how good the other sides were, but I didn't listen...make sure you do. After seeing this restaurant featured by one of my favorite foodies on Instagram, I stopped by on a weekday around 6 p.m. after a stressful day at work, searching for comfort food. I was not disappointed! This spot is in a nice shopping center but don't let the compact, super casual, no frills interior fool you. This place is VERY serious about the quality of its food! Fortunately, I ordered ahead online for pickup because there was a slight wait behind other customers when I arrived. My food was ready right around the estimated pickup time (around 15-20 minutes from placing my online order) in spite of how busy things were. The fried whiting was so delicious! Crisp, well-seasoned, and very flavorful, a refreshing contrast to the bland fried fish I've had at another soul food spot in the area. I ordered a number of sides so I could have them for leftovers. The Mac & cheese was super cheesy and just the type of comfort food I needed. The candied yams were like eating the best sweet potato pie filling with a little extra spice. The hush puppies were good. The crinkle fries were as expected. The collards were a bit too vinegary for my taste, but if you like that vinegar flavor, these collards are for you! The space is tight and better suited for takeout than dining in, but efficiency and flavor carry the experience. This is now my go-to Cary spot for fried fish, and I'm looking forward to exploring more of the menu. Next time I'd love to try the shrimp and grits. :-) read more

Food was "pretty good" but not worth the price for fried food on paper plates. Servers were cordial but there were problems. Asked for Ketchup but they brought us two squeeze bottles of Cocktail Sauce. One was labeled but the other was not and she told us it was ketchup. So, we ruined half the fries. On our bill, they added a side of corn bread that they had asked if we wanted but we had declined. They also charged us for a coke and a tea when the menu clearly showed drinks were included with combo meals. When asked about it, they said only canned drinks were included... but they never asked us if we wanted the Coke in a can so it would be included. She took these things off the bill but none of these things should have happened, and we wonder how many others are experiencing the same type stuff. read more

They have indoor seating if you want to dine in, and the server was very respectful and welcoming. The vibe was already set when I walked in -- old-school music playing, with Chaka Khan in the background. That alone put me in a good mood. Now to the food. They have a lot of options, which I appreciated. I went with the grilled chicken combo with salmon, scallops, and shrimp, served over rice. I swapped the mixed veggies for their smoked collard greens. I didn't really taste much turkey in the greens, and there were a few stems (not my favorite), but overall they were still pretty good. I ordered everything jerk-style, and let me tell you -- that jerk seasoning was serious lol. Definitely cleared my sinuses, and that's a plus in my book. The shrimp were very good, and I liked that they give you options: jerk, garlic butter, fried, grilled, or plain. The chicken was slightly on the dry side, but still flavorful and enjoyable. For drinks, they had Pepsi products, but I went with their house strawberry lemonade -- and WOW. That drink was on point! I regret not taking a picture of it. Mom had fish and shrimp, I had shrimp with fries and Mac and cheese (very good btw and we don't play about Mac and cheese. ). I've visited Try Seafood twice now, and both times the food has been excellent. The blackened fish is perfectly seasoned and comes with corn and broccoli that balance the dish nicely. It's honestly the best blackened fish I've had anywhere. MY. WORD...DELICIOUSNESS!!!). I also ordered the layered chocolate cake and banana pudding. The Tiger Woods sweet tea was so good! The chocolate cake was rich decadent and moist. Sinfully delicious! The banana pudding left nothing to be desired as it was sprinkled with a dusting of cinnamon which made it EVERYTHING! Yummy deliciousness! Shame on us for taking so long to try Try, cause this is a seafood lover's dream! Two of us tried them out on Monday for an early lunch. They open at 11, which was perfect for us. Very small inside, but there are a few tables and a counter area for seating. Very clean. Very friendly. We were told we could sit anywhere. Table, which already looked clean, was wiped down again for us. Love their menu. Love that they have such a variety of ways to enjoy seafood. Not just the same old calabash style. Not just fried. They did have some under ten dollar lunch specials, but you can order off the regular menu as well, which is what we did. Blackened Catfish for me with collards. Fried shrimp and scallops for Husband with chile sauce and Onion rings. The fried food came out first and you could actually see that it was well seasoned. They are not afraid of spices here, which we couldn't appreciate more. The onion rings came with a tangy dipping sauce. Tastes of his kept me going until my beautiful catfish and collards arrived. Served with lemon and melted butter. Definitely some of the best of both that I've ever had! Very generous portions (took plenty home). Do know that the collards are called spicy for a reason. Very spicy! Very yummy! I also loved my unsweetened tea. (She even sent me home with a to-go cup). If I could ding 'em on anything it would be that they don't make their own tartar sauce (they have little packets of them), but even those were good quality, so it's an unworthy nitpick. A hidden gem. Decided to stop in and give it a try, and kicking myself I've waited so long. Didn't catch his name, but the gentleman who helped us out was super nice, gave great recommendations and was very friendly. We had the grilled shrimp and scallops combo (6 of each) and the fried scallops basket (8). Was pretty surprised at the size of the shrimp and scallops - huge for the very reasonable price. My wife and I split the two meals so we could try both styles and could barely finish it. Hard to say what our favorite was, both delicious, well seasoned, and cooked perfectly. Fried scallops can often be chewy but done right can be my favorite - and these were absolutely perfect, light crispy batter, and as tender as a grilled scallop inside. They surprised us with a piece of their honey butter cornbread at the end - and let's be clear - this is dessert :) Reminded me of mix between a corn cake and tres leches. Going to be very hard to bring the wife here in the future and not order that for dessert. Overall, pretty surprised to get this level of quality from a counter service restaurant in a shopping center. The food would pass in a fine dining restaurant on the water front in any resort town. My cashier was great although being under a lot of pressure from so many customers orders. I waited 1 hr others waited 1hr & a half. Definitely not worth the wait. Catfish & fries had 0 flavor which was disappointing. I used lemon, salt & hot sauce for flavoring alone. Crab poppers have a lot of potential. They were super moist maybe not cooked completely I would say very doughy & sweet spicy. It was strange but the sauce it came with helped it out. I don't think I would order them again if I return. I'm glad I tried many things to see how good it was but compared to the raving reviews & my actual food id pass. The poboy look delish tho so I may come back to try that. VIP service for every single customer! I was many to come in on a Friday afternoon and not once did she make any customer feel anything less than VIP no matter how busy it got. The food is EXCEPTIONAL! I have been craving some good ol catfish and let me tell you, it's seasoned to perfection and needs NOTHING! The hushpuppies had a honey butter drizzle that was so good, I devoured all 8 before I got my food and the owner kindly added more to my plate! This is my second time here and it will not be my last! I've been seeing try seafood on tik tok and decided to give it a try! I went early on a Saturday and the restaurant was bright and had great customer service. I was seated and ordered a strawberry lemonade which came in a large container. I almost finished it before my food came out it was so good. I ordered the crab bites as an appetizer. They came out fresh. Crispy on the outside with lumps of real crab meat on the inside. They didn't use any filler either, it was all crab. Best crab bites I've tasted. Let's talk about the snapper next. I ordered the grilled red snapper and it came out on this sizzling plate hot and fresh! It was seasoned well. The snapper was also a great size. Enough for lunch and leftovers for dinner. I paired it with the macaroni and cheese, steamed vegetables, and honey cornbread. The mac and cheese I give a 4/5. I feel like had I gotten the fish fried it would've paired better but overall it was decent. I wasn't a fan of the vegetables. There was something about it I couldn't put my fingers on. As I was looking at the menu I was a bit confused on why the cornbread was listed under dessert. Then the cornbread came out. It was warm, sweet (but not too sweet), and moist. 5/5.
