I have had TrySeafood on my list for some time now. I was in the area getting my car serviced and the day had finally come!!!! It was a busy Friday afternoon on a gorgeous day, and it was busy. TrySeafood is located within a shopping area with plenty of parking. There are a few outdoor tables and about five or six indoor tables. I ordered my food to go. There's a lovely young lady at the front, who I believe may be the owner (she's from NY). She was so wonderful. It took about 10 minutes for me to decide and place my order, there are so many options and I love seafood. I ended up ordering the fried catfish & shrimp combo with French fries. You can choose between fried or grilled. It took about 20 minutes for my food to be ready as they fry the food once it's ordered. While I waited, I observed several regulars coming to dine & many who said they would be back. I ended up trying my food as soon as I got in the car. The catfish & shrimp were seasoned and fried perfectly!!! I mean absolutely perfect & delicious. I definitely should have gotten one of their homemade sides, because the French fries were cold and bland. Other patrons told me how good the other sides were, but I didn't listen...make sure you do. I can't wait to go back and try other menu items. I'll definitely get the shrimp & catfish again. Soooo good!!

Grilled chicken, Grilled Salmon & Chicken 3-Piece Scallops, 3-Piece Shrimp Bowl Over Rice & Veggies

I tried this spot after seeing some pictures of their shrimp -- and as a big shrimp fan, I had to see it for myself. Glad I did. They have indoor seating if you want to dine in, and the server was very respectful and welcoming. The vibe was already set when I walked in -- old-school music playing, with Chaka Khan in the background. That alone put me in a good mood. Now to the food. They have a lot of options, which I appreciated. I went with the grilled chicken combo with salmon, scallops, and shrimp, served over rice. I swapped the mixed veggies for their smoked collard greens. I didn't really taste much turkey in the greens, and there were a few stems (not my favorite), but overall they were still pretty good. I ordered everything jerk-style, and let me tell you -- that jerk seasoning was serious lol. Definitely cleared my sinuses, and that's a plus in my book. The shrimp were very good, and I liked that they give you options: jerk, garlic butter, fried, grilled, or plain. The chicken was slightly on the dry side, but still flavorful and enjoyable. For drinks, they had Pepsi products, but I went with their house strawberry lemonade -- and WOW. That drink was on point! I regret not taking a picture of it. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but the portions were solid, and you truly get what you pay for. Overall, I have nothing negative to say about my experience. I enjoyed it and would definitely come back to try more items on the menu.

The seafood itself is perfection! Fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked exactly right. The fish alone is enough to make me come back. The restaurant is clean, the service is great, and the music really sets a nice vibe, which made the overall experience enjoyable. The sides didn't quite hit for me. The banana pudding was a bit dry, the shrimp rice was spicy but lacking flavor, the grits were very thick with a unique taste that wasn't my favorite, and the collard greens felt like they were missing something. The honey cornbread was interesting -- it reminded me more of a honeybun cake than traditional cornbread. Overall, I'd definitely return for the fish and would stick to more basic sides next time. The proteins are the real star here.

I highly recommend this restaurant. The restaurant is clean, staff are friendly, and the owner is approachable. The location is easy to find, and is located in a safe area. There was no long wait time for food, and the flow of customers was steady. The music was a vibe, and customers were friendly. I recommended this restaurant to coworkers who ended up dining as recommended the next day. I also ordered food to go, and returned to dine the following day. So far, the jumbo shrimp and catfish are my favorite menu items. My mother is a Rasta pasta fan. Come through, Cary!

2-Piece Grilled Blackened Catfish with Mixed Veggie

I was ready for seafood and they delivered. My husband ordered the blackened catfish. I typically don't like catfish but it was seasoned to perfection. I ordered a fried fish basket and it was good too. The tiger woods drink was refreshing. We will be back. Not much seating but nice atmosphere and great for a to go order.

Catfish & Shrimp combo w/ side of collard greens, okra & hushpuppies

We plan to return to TrySeafood before leaving Cary! We live in another state that does not have good soul food /seafood so this is a huge treat! The staff was great. I ordered the catfish shrimp combo with a side of collard greens and okra. They cooked the food to order so be prepared to wait but it is worth the wait. The seafood tastes so fresh! Everything was Flavorful- EVERYTHING! That is hard for many places to achieve. The greens are spicy still great but wanted to give you a heads up. Next time we come to NC TrySeafood Cary is on our lists!

Oysters and Calamari are a good lunch. Comes with two sauces and lemon slices. I would recommend.

Fish Fry FriYay, Shrimp and Homemade Honey Butter Cornbread (it's like cake)!

If you love seafood, Tryseafood needs to be on your list--especially on Fridays! We came in for their Fish Fry FriYAY special and decided to add shrimp... best decision ever. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside, and the shrimp were seasoned just right juicy with that perfect snap when you bite into them. The portions? Let's just say you will not leave hungry. It was more than enough to share, but so good we almost didn't want to. The sides were fresh, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere made it feel like the start of the weekend. It's the kind of place where you instantly feel welcome, and the food keeps you coming back. If you're looking for a seafood spot where flavor, freshness, and portion sizes all shine, Tryseafood delivers hook, line, and sinker!

My first time here. I was tempted by Tim Shropshire's post so off we went! I ordered the fried lobster combo which consisted of a delicious, perfectly seasoned fried-to- perfection lobster tail, (I even ate the ends of the tail), large fried shrimp, a side (mine was collards) hush puppies, a BIG HULKING HUNK OF sweet potato corn bread drizzled with some sort of sweet goodness (OH. MY. WORD...DELICIOUSNESS!!!). I also ordered the layered chocolate cake and banana pudding. The Tiger Woods sweet tea was so good! The chocolate cake was rich decadent and moist. Sinfully delicious! The banana pudding left nothing to be desired as it was sprinkled with a dusting of cinnamon which made it EVERYTHING! Yummy deliciousness! Lively atmosphere--playing 90's R&B (Soul 2 Soul, Sounds of Blackness, Loose Ends, Zhane to name a few) super friendly staff--- from the moment we stepped in, we were greeted and welcomed with smiles from all at the service counter. Service was quick and the food came out hot, fresh and delicious. I caught a cramp in my foot which the staff made a light joke attributing their delicious food to my foot cramp to which made everyone erupt in a hearty laugh. I gotta say---I WILL BE BACK!

Babyyy. I had no business finding this place but I'm Glad I did. Food was fresh. Shrimp, big and seasoned. Fried seasoned and fresh. Catfish nuggets were chefs kiss.

Shrimp & Scallops with sweet chile sauce, and onion rings with a dipping sauce

Shame on us for taking so long to try Try, cause this is a seafood lover's dream! Two of us tried them out on Monday for an early lunch. They open at 11, which was perfect for us. Very small inside, but there are a few tables and a counter area for seating. Very clean. Very friendly. We were told we could sit anywhere. Table, which already looked clean, was wiped down again for us. Love their menu. Love that they have such a variety of ways to enjoy seafood. Not just the same old calabash style. Not just fried. They did have some under ten dollar lunch specials, but you can order off the regular menu as well, which is what we did. Blackened Catfish for me with collards. Fried shrimp and scallops for Husband with chile sauce and Onion rings. The fried food came out first and you could actually see that it was well seasoned. They are not afraid of spices here, which we couldn't appreciate more. The onion rings came with a tangy dipping sauce. Tastes of his kept me going until my beautiful catfish and collards arrived. Served with lemon and melted butter. Definitely some of the best of both that I've ever had! Very generous portions (took plenty home). Do know that the collards are called spicy for a reason. Very spicy! Very yummy! I also loved my unsweetened tea. (She even sent me home with a to-go cup). If I could ding 'em on anything it would be that they don't make their own tartar sauce (they have little packets of them), but even those were good quality, so it's an unworthy nitpick. You can tell there's a lot of pride and hard work that goes on here and I can't wait to go back. There are so many things on the menu I want to try. Watch out, they are closed on Tuesdays!

Shrimp Stir Fry Veggie Rice (Large)

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant last weekend. We got there early and waited for them to open. The owner greeted us with a warm smile and welcomed us in. She was a joy to talk with and you could tell she loves what she does. There were so many options. She let me know everything was GOOD! Well, she didn't lie. I had fried lobster, catfish, vegetables, and cornbread. My husband had a shrimp dish. We give it a 10 out of 10 and we DO RECOMMEND! ~ Shanae

We were there for lunch and wanted to try everything. I ordered the Muffalotta with she crab soup. I ordered the 1/2 Muffalotta and I was sure glad I did. It was huge. Ended up taking some home. Unlike the ones I've had in NOLA, this sandwich was grilled. And I loved it! Added an extra crunch and melty cheese. Yum. My husband ordered The Taste of Loisianna. Serving sizes were plenty. He opted for the gator instead if shrimp. After trying everything. Our favorite was the sausage and beans. It had the best flavor. The jambalaya was very rice heavy. And the gumbo was just ok. Nothing was overly spiced. We met one of the owners on our way out. He mentioned they are hoping to add steam tables. This would allow them to offer oysters and shrimp. So keep an eye out for this! We stopped by on a Sunday morning and the place was buzzing--I'm guessing many diners were coming from church. Thankfully we made a reservation because every table seemed to fill up quickly. To kick things off, we each ordered a refreshing Lone Rider wheat beer along with two appetizers. The Shoestring Okra Fries were a fun twist on a Southern classic--crispy, lightly seasoned with chili citrus seasoning, and even better dipped in the tangy lime mayo. We also shared the Artichoke Dip, which arrived bubbling hot, creamy, and perfect for spreading on the toasted bread. For brunch, we went with two very different dishes, and both were excellent. The Asparagus & Mushroom Omelet was fluffy and packed with flavor from the goat cheese and pickled onions, while the buttery biscuit with jam on the side was a nice Southern touch. The Fried Green Tomato & Bacon Benedict was the standout of the meal. Crispy fried green tomatoes, perfectly poached eggs, smoky bacon, and rich hollandaise came together beautifully without feeling overly heavy. We couldn't leave without one more treat. The Strawberry Kiwi Margarita was bright, fruity, and balanced with just enough tequila and a zesty spiced citrus rim to keep it refreshing. To finish, we shared an Affogato, the perfect ending with creamy ice cream and a shot of hot espresso. If you're planning a Sunday brunch in Cary, make a reservation--you'll be glad you did. We'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.
