Fried seafood platter with fried clams and shrimp
    Jessica K.

I was craving seafood, so my husband and I went here on a Friday night. We went on the later side and didn't need a reservation to be seated right away. I got the watermelon margarita, which was quite tasty. We then got served some bread with butter which was a nice surprise! It's rare to get free bread at restaurants these days. I got one of the fried seafood platters with clams and shrimp. It was a ton of food, and I had enough leftovers for another meal. The hush puppies were great in addition to the seafood. I would definitely come again!

Wow! We decided to try this location based on yelp reviews and we were not disappointed. The Spring Forest location is larger, however we found the staff here a tad bit better. Don't get me wrong, you will be treated well at both locations but the Cameron Village location went above and beyond. The food is delicious! Set expectations for a casual seafood dining experience and you wont be disappointed. Flounder cooked well, tiny shrimp which I would skip on my next visit. Fries are pretty good, lukewarm temperature. Fish and chips basket- fish crispy and delish! I love the inclusion of various price points depending on your appetite or wallet. Parking can be challenging depending on date or time, but absolutely doable. In an era where wearing a dress and heels feels like a crime, I was pleasantly surprised to see fellow brethren. Came to on of the newer locations over at the Village District. Made an easy reservation on their website earlier in the day for a party of 3. We showed up a bit early, but they got us right in and seated. We were greeted warmly by the hostesses and our server. My wife and her mother had some Chardonnays and I got the "Smokey Paloma." While waiting on our entrees, our server brought us some warm bread and whipped butter. A nice touch. My entree was the broiled seafood platter and my wife and mother got the crab cakes. The seafood platter was delicious and feature mussels, scallops, shrimp, and fish. I was in seafood heaven! Every time I visit the CFSC, no matter the location, we are treated like friends we didn't know we had and the food is always delicious and fresh tasting.

Visited for Mother's Day with our family of 7. Everything was good! From being seated, to being served, to the food, to the price, and to the ambience, everything was good. Not sure if anything was great, though. Food was on point and fresh at a very reasonable price so we would definitely return. Our waitress was worthy of a solid tip so that's always appreciated.

Fresh Catch Mahi Mahi (Asparagus, Roasted Potatoes, Pan Seared, Drawn Butter)

I originally made reservations at this restaurant to celebrate my brother's birthday; however, as we were under a severe storm due to our impact from Hurricane Helene, I canceled the reservations and ordered the food to go instead. I ordered a variety of dishes: Calabash Choice of Two (Oysters, Flounder, Fries, and Coleslaw); Fisherman's Pasta; Fresh Catch Mahi Mahi (Asparagus, Roasted Potatoes, Pan Seared, Drawn Butter); Fresh Catch Salmon (Roasted Potatoes, Green Beans with Roasted Tomatoes, Medium Well, Pan Seared, Beurre Blanc); Fried Okra; Calamari Fritti. All dishes looked good and were enjoyed by the family. We were a bit surprised at how small the portion was for the mahi-mahi; however, my dad enjoyed it. All dishes were seasoned well, moist, and flavorful. We will return to this restaurant for a dine in experience at another time.

Tile fish special with burre blanc and risotto. Soooooooo delicious!

The greeting at the door was pleasant. We came in town for a soccer tournament and had 2 teenage boys with us. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. The restaurant was very cute and felt beachy. My only complaint was that our server seemed overwhelmed and didn't come back to check on us, or offer us more drinks.

This place has some of the best seafood in the area . We dined here about month ago and service was excellent. We enjoyed the seasonal jerk mahi-mahi, it was extremely flavorful and delicious. Really hope they decide to keep this on the main menu. Every time we come here we always have to get the crab dip as an app some of the best in the area.

    Ahi tuna (not rare)

Came here for lunch with co-workers. We had a group of 10 with no reservation but were seated quickly. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. I ordered the ahi tuna sandwich rare on a GF bun. The fries were cooked perfectly. Sandwich and fries were a good portion size for lunch. Unfortunately sandwich was NOT rare -- more like medium well. Still a very pleasant lunch experience.

We were in the area getting our hair done (well, my wife had her hair done, I just went for a basic haircut), and the appointment lasted past our lunch time so we were famished. We didn't want to venture out too far so I scouted for places to dine and we saw this in Yelp and was encouraged by the great reviews it got so we took the plunge. The ambiance is very Cape Cod-ish or Hamptons chic. The east coast beach vibe is very attractive and I like it! But after noticing the decor my stomach reminded me very rudely why we were here. My wife's stomach's growl chimed in as well. So, here's what we decided to have: For appetizers we had the Calamari Fritti - solid A. For entrees we got: Shrimp Scampi - solid B+ Fish n Chips Platter - solid B+ For our drinks, my wife got pineapple juice (okay, nothing spectacular, B- grade) and I got their Pineapple Citrus Sangria (A-). For our dessert we got the Crème Brûlée. This got an A-. Overall 4 1/2 stars. Unfortunately, I can't grant that extra 1/2 star so I'll leave it at 4. We will definitely be back to try the rest of their fare. Service was great, efficient and friendly. But more importantly, prompt and attentive. Solid A. Postscript: This was not our first time at this restaurant chain. Early in 2022 we went to their other branch in 832 Spring Forest Rd Raleigh, NC 27609. I gave that experience 3 stars. I can't believe how different these two restaurants are. The creme brulee at Spring Forest Rd was substandard. This one at the Village District was leaps and bounds better. Not to mention so much closer to us.

LOVE this place so much! My hibiscus margarita was super tasty! Can't beat free bread no matter where you're at. My broiled seafood platter was amazing, as always. I have tried nearly all the seafood on their menu and have never ever had a bad meal. Their creamy risotto is to die for! I always make sure I get the risotto as one of my sides - they are great with substitutions! The wait staff is awesome. Super friendly and always quick service. Inside of restaurant makes it feel like you're at the beach! They do have a bar with TVs which is also nice...you can either get the fine dining experience in the main room or the more casual experience near the bar. This place is easily one of my favorite places in Raleigh. Consistently delicious!

Hot Crab Dip w pita chips. Its very delicious.
    David A.

The food at Cape Fear was very tasty. Large portions and comes to the table good and hot. The service people do a great job waiting on their tables, always ready with a refill. Also try the one over off Wake Forest Road. Don't know about the ambiance of this poticular Cape Fear Seafood Resturant. But the Wake Forest resturant is very nice. Be sure to try the Hot Crab Dip ( not spicy ) on toasted pita chips. That's really delicious.

Smaller portion shrimp n grits with their shrimp scampi pasta
    Debbie J.

The best shrimp n grits ever! Always consistent food with great flavor and taste! Take your pick of two portion sizes. Staff are professional and friendly. Bar has a great selection as well. My husband mixes it up and likes their fried shrimp and their pasta dishes. Key lime pie for dessert for the win! Outside dining is a great spot in cooler weather.

Crab Cakes and Figure 8 Stuffed Flounder

Our family was visiting from out of town. We had the seafood pasta, fish and chips, salmon, crab cakes and I had the stuffed flounder. All of our meals were delicious!!

From the staff to the manager to the food, everything was on point. The food truly speaks for itself. They serve small plates, which we love because it gives you the chance to try different things and experience a variety of flavors. We started with the fried pork belly on tostones. It was perfectly seasoned, topped with avocado, and every bite just melted in your mouth. Next, we had the tamarind sticky ribs with a tamarind mango barbecue sauce. This was a perfect example of how simplicity can create complex flavors. The ribs were cooked just right -- not completely falling off the bone, but tender enough that when you bit into them, the meat pulled apart so easily. They were juicy, full of flavor, and had just the right touch of spice from the chili flakes. Then we moved on to the mini arepas, and oh my God. They had slow-cooked pork, guava barbecue sauce, and fried papas on top. The arepa itself was crispy on the outside, warm and fluffy on the inside. The savory pork paired with the sweetness of the guava barbecue sauce was incredible, and the crunch from the fried papas took it to another level. Now, I have a bit of a sweet tooth, but my wife does not. I wanted dessert, and we were leaning toward the tres leches, but our waitress highly recommended the bread pudding. I am not usually a fan of bread pudding at all, but her recommendations had been on point all night, so I decided to trust her. I am so glad we did. They take a Mexican bolillo, soak it overnight in tres leches, then pan-sear it to create this crispy caramelized outside while keeping the inside warm, soft, and sweet. It is topped with crema and toasted coconut, then they pour warm guava syrup over it and serve it with a scoop of coconut sorbet. The layers of flavor in that dessert were unreal. Honestly, it may have been the best dessert we have ever had. And remember, my wife is not big on sweets -- she usually only takes one bite of dessert, but this time she tried to eat over half of it. Lol. I highly recommend this place. The food, the service, the drinks, and the atmosphere were all amazing. And after dinner, you can even head upstairs to work off the food with salsa lessons and a dance club. This is definitely a spot worth checking out! Me alegra muchísimo haberlo hecho. Jajaja.

Sweet, salty, buttery chaos in the best way. For the main, I went with the pork chop and greens. The chop leaned a little overcooked for me personally, but the sauce helped bring things back together and added good flavor. The greens had a nice little kick of heat, but I kept waiting for that deep smoky ham hock flavor to show up like an old Southern grandma entering the kitchen... and it never quite arrived.
