Wednesdays are officially St. Rich's oyster days. Get 50% off on their west coast oysters. Absolutely delicious. The bbq shrimp is nothing like it sounds, it's a deeply rich spicy curry shrimp sauce. Incredible. Excellent service as always.

St. Roch has been on my Raleigh dining list for a while, and after finally stopping in for happy hour, I can see why it has such a loyal following. We started with 3 dozen Daily Happy Oysters, which at $9 per half dozen. The Southern Salt oysters were incredibly briny. I don't mind a salty oyster, but these crossed into overwhelmingly salty territory and masked some of the nuanced flavors I usually look for. The snacks, however, were absolutely spot on. The Crawfish Hushpuppies arrived piping hot with a crisp exterior and tender center, loaded with crawfish flavor. The Crispy Frog Legs were equally impressive--perfectly fried, wonderfully seasoned with tom yum spice and vadouvan, and paired with a Vietnamese mayo that tied everything together beautifully. To wash it all down, we enjoyed a few beers, including a crisp pilsner, a refreshing wheat beer, and a local IPA that paired nicely with the oysters and fried snacks. Service deserves a special mention. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable without being overbearing. They kept the oyster trays moving and made sure drinks never sat empty for long. Overall, St. Roch delivers a fun oyster bar experience with happy hour pricing, creative snacks, and top-notch service. If the Southern Salt oysters had been a little more balanced, this would have easily been a 5-star visit.

Service was top notch. They deserve a place on the triangle's Michelin guide just for the service alone. We tried many dishes on the menu and price wise they were very reasonable. My group was satisfied with our drinks too. The salmon dish could use more salmon and less potato. We didn't try any oysters since we went on a very hot day so were a bit worried about food safety but it was unsurprisingly cool on the inside.

I was super excited to add a visit to a Michelin recognized restaurant to a work trip & St. Roch did not disappoint! Excellently inviting & attentive service. Beautiful bar that encourages enjoyable interaction between diners and oyster/bartending staff. Phenomenal menu with a broad array of seafood options. Deciding that I wanted a bit of everything, I opted for the fried seafood platter--excellently seasoned, perfectly crisp, & intriguingly presented--and the beignets. Look forward to checking them out again on future visits!

This little spot is tucked away on Wilmington St. it's small but quaint. They even have seating in the window if you're a people watcher it's perfect. It's dimly lit perfect for date night, also for a family dinner or work dinner. They have a bar and happy hour. We arrived just in time with 15 min left in happy hour so we ordered 3 orders of oysters. Dressed them up. They are the only place I have been that charges for the dressings (horseradish, cocktail sauce and the mignonette). .50 each. They also come with fried Saltines, they are so yummy. We ordered the Tuna (it's raw). Which I don't mind at all, but this tuna was a no for us. We never send food back but this one went back. It didn't have any taste. Idk it was off. We had the Pork Belly Cracklins this was amazing and the best thing we had. The Cracklins were good and the pork belly was nice and sticky. The Pomme Frites were good and that garlic aioli was the best. And it was my birthday they gave me an order of Beignets with a candle. They were cooked fresh and so good. They are a must have and if you're missing New Orleans Beignets this is your best bet!

Went here to celebrate my friend birthday m. We arrived at 5:45 and we were promptly seated! They have happy hour oysters from5-6p. Our waitress Bree informed us and we started off with 24. They were so fresh, and delicious. What I did find odd was that they charge for cocktail sauce, the horseradish and the mignonette sauce. If anything they should charge for those fried saltines they provided. Those crackers were so good! They could sell them! It's a nice restaurant and they do have outside seating but the way this heat has been lately, we ate inside. We also had the pork belly which was very tender and flavorful. We also ordered the tuna, but we didn't care for it, and Bree removed it from our bill. The fries were also good, nice and hot and the sauce they serve with it was the best! Ohhh and then they brought out the beignets for my friend birthday and they were also good! The bathroom was clean, and I appreciated the flossers in the bathroom. We would definitely go back!

Continued excellence! Our fabulous server was very helpful and friendly. We started off with some great, perfectly shucked oysters. We don't like them briny, and the ones the shucker selected delivered on that! I chose the Lox Latke, two foods from my childhood. WOW! A crispy latke with some deliciously flavorful smoked salmon on top--very creative and definitely a super dish. My wife got the Shrimp and Grits, always consistently good. Glad we made it over here after touring Artsplosure.

In town for "bidness" and popped in to St. Roch for happy hour 1/2 priced oysters. I enjoyed three varieties from Washington State, paired with Roch's homemade crackers. For the main course I chose the menu for "Raleigh Restaurant Week." I started with three NC oysters. They were very good. The next course was the "No bullshit" salad. The salad was so fresh (greens come in weekly from a farm in SC) with the champagne vinaigrette and goat cheese (I honestly could have added a protein and stopped there). The final course was rice and beans with shrimp and andouille sausage. Wow! Amazing dish, seasoned to Perfection and so filling. Run, don't walk to St. Roch--Wednesday night 1/2 prices oysters!!

Let me get straight to the point, St. Roch is terrific! The restaurant interior has a relaxing, classy vibe to it. It had that perfect noise level where it doesn't feel hushed, but it's not so noisy that you can't hear your date across the table. Also our server was both attentive and extremely helpful. She had an air of confidence and knowledge about the menu and could offer up an explanation for whatever questions we had, but also was not overbearing about imparting her knowledge like some waiters can be. "Enough, enough! What about the food?!" The food was TOP notch. We started with an arancini which came as one large shareable portion instead of several pieces to divvy up. It's perfect for a date night. And it was possibly the best arancini I've ever had. It might have been the highlight of the meal for me. We both then followed that up with seafood platters which were also top notch. Easily some of the best seafood I've had in this city. I'm tempted to get the same exact order next time I go, but I really can't wait to try the red beans and rice dish which has andouille sausage in it. This is now one of my favorite Raleigh spots and I can't wait to go back.

I made a reservation for Sunday night for two people with Resy. They do require a credit card and will charge a no show fee of $25 per person. We were seated promptly once arriving. The food and drinks were so good. I got the Harvest mule to drink. I really liked the pumpkin spice and ginger flavors in the drink. We started with the boudin arancini and wow! I didn't expect it to be one giant arancini, but it was delicious. It had a nice kick and was like nothing I've had before. For my main entree, I got the calabash platter with fried shrimp. I don't like fried pickles and they let me get an extra hush puppy instead. The fried shrimp and fries were both great. I liked the aioli with the fries. The one miss for me was the hush puppies. They were kind of dry and didn't have a lot of flavor. Service was fantastic. Our main waitress came around often enough, and other staff came around to clear things/check on things too. All around this is a great place and I will definitely be back to try more!

Oysters are absolutely amazing here! Especially the cooked ones! Although we had a lot of the raw as well. The vibe overall was awesome and trendy. The service is the reason this is a 4 star instead of a 5. Right off the bat, the waiter basically said we take your whole order at once and we will bring it out accordingly. It was very much a "we are too busy for you" message, this was a business dinner: so thankfully the food far exceeded the service, however, I'm Not sure we will be doing another work event here. But I cannot say enough about the oysters. I recommend start here with a drink and oysters... and find dinner elsewhere.

St. Roch is still so good. The food never misses, the bowls are always soo yummy and filling. Staff are always super friendly and patient as well. Even though it was cooler I sat in the window which I love because it feels like a little nook. I'll always return and recommend even if parking for anything in that area is crazy lol..

I came here specifically to try their NC blue crab claws! This is on the appetizer menu. Their menu is well documented and clearly showed what was gluten free and what wasn't which is always a plus! The staff was very friendly and as I was in town for business and dining alone I sat at the bar for convenience. I ordered the appetizer and a drink. The vibe was very fun! The bar was beautiful and was very fun to people watch. Now onto the food, take this review as a single item review rather than a full establishment review. Honestly, I was disappointed in the flavor composition of the crab claws. The menu description says that the dish has "black garlic vinaigrette, scallion, and crispy chili oil". The dish was overcome by the vinaigrette, the claws were swimming in it so much that the flavor of the crab meat was totally lost. That was not ideal for me and frankly wish that they would have let the crab really shine through.

    Are reservations necessary for dinner?

I recommend them. We made a reservation, and I'm glad we did because the place fills up fast.

Dying to go for the oysters but I have friends that are vegan I want to bring with. Any choices for them?

Pickings are slim for vegans there! I suggest calling them. I am a pescatarian so I am aware of vegetable options too but that's a little hard there too.

Does St. Roch have outside dining?

Yes! We have a series of tables by our front door

Their roast beef panini is on par with Portillo's a long standing Chicago beef restaurant (IYKYK). I've NEVER had a beef sandwich that was better than Portillo's but Postino you managed to take a hometown classic and elevate it to a point beyond my expectations - if you get this sandwich I recommend getting it on the ciabatta bread versus focaccia. Let's not overlook the tomato soup - it's so rich and flavorful. For a lighter lunch my go to is the tuna panini with broccoli salad. They are known for their boards, I've not had the bruschetta yet but it looks delicious. My favorite board is the hummus. One thing I hate is when a restaurant gives you a big bowl of hummus and not enough pita. That is not the case here, you'll get pita, toasted bread, and a variety of vegetables to scoop up the velvety humus covered in cherry tomatoes, red onion and feta. For date night enjoy a Violet Femme a gin cocktail that tastes as lovely as it looks. The service here is top notch! Everyone is fantastic. I'll have to come back to this review to note the serves names we've had because they have all been exceptional. Now let's talk about the vibe! Postino's nailed the indoor/outdoor feel. Plenty of windows that are open on nice days, plants galore and the decor gives you a cool like rockstar but classy feel. 5 stars doesn't feel like enough.

You'll want to park on a side street and walk up to the restaurant. When you walk into the restaurant you'll be transported to a dark, warm, intimate, and buzzy neighborhood vibe. I'd definitely recommend booking a reservation to ensure you are able to get a table. Once we were seated I started by ordering the Long Time Listener Cocktail (Bourbon, Blackberry, Mint, Fernet-Branca) which was excellent and probably my favorite drink of the evening. For my other drink I tried the Structured Settlement (coconut washed tequila, peach, popcorn orgeat, and lime). This drink was also good, but not as good as the long time listener. For food, we started with the Manchego-Herb Biscuits which were flaky, soft, and didn't need any butter. After that we tried the Heirloom Tomato Salad (provencal granola, mozzarella ice cream, and peaches) which was perfect. The large tomato with the crunchy granola, olive oil, and mozzarella and peaches were the perfect blend of flavors. I couldn't stop eating this dish. Next, we tried the Half Smoke Sausage (roasted peppers, garlic aioli, balsamic onion jus) which surprised me. The sausage had a bit of a spicy flavor, the roasted peppers were prepared perfectly, and overall the flavors paired perfectly together. We also ordered the Bucatini (sea urchin, gulf prawn, spicy tomato sauce) which was good with the pasta and all of the flavors mixed together. The last appetizer we ordered was the yellowfin tuna crudo (honeydew, Fresno chili, shiso, tom yum ice) which was perfect. The sliced honeydew with the raw yellowfin was so good!! For the entree we split the Grilled Bavette Steak (potato rosti, shishito pepper, and sauce choron). The steak cut like butter and was cooked perfectly. For dessert we ordered the blueberry upside down cake (popcorn streusel, sweet corn ice cream) which had fresh blueberries and I couldn't stop eating this dish. I'll have to add Crawford & Son to my regular Raleigh restaurant rotation as this meal was excellent. Looking forward to my next visit.

The pieces of fish were large and thick. -- The Manchego-herb Biscuits were awesome. One order comes with four small biscuits. Crust was flaky, the inside was soft and moist, and the flaky salt was the cherry on top. -- The Seared Duck Breast was phenomenal. The duck was juicy and tender and salted well. The skin was thick, sooo flavorful, and melted in your mouth but I would've liked a little more crispiness on the outside. I enjoyed the mix of fresh vegetables and warm cooked vegetables served with the dish. -- The Lemon Yuzu Tart was a nice bright and rich dessert. The tartness comes from the jam on top of the tart but it doesn't overwhelm the dish. The creme brulee style top was a nice touch. The buttermilk ice cream was more on the icier side than creamy. I really enjoyed all the dishes I tried here and am looking forward to my next visit.

I'd say it was a tie for favorite drink between the Hurricane and the 1806. Both were well balanced and tasted great. The scorpion was a bit spicy for my liking and the espresso martini was good just wasn't as good as the hurricane/the 1806. For appetizers we ordered the Maine Lobster Doughnuts, Heirloom Tomato Pie (with Tennessee Buttermilk Cheddar & Sherry-Sherry Vinaigrette), and the Watermelon Vinaigrette (with Avocado, Goat Lady Dairy Chevre, & White Balsamic Vinaigrette). The Maine Lobster Doughnuts and Watermelon Vinaigrette were excellent. The watermelon was sliced, goat cheese wasn't too strong and had the perfect blend of flavors. Just a heads-up: the pimento cheese is served cold. I was expecting it to be warm, but I probably should have asked. The heirloom tomato pie was good, not great. Think chicken pot pie, but filled with tomatoes and cheese. The flavors were pretty straightforward, but the crust was really good. The ricotta gnocchi was a hit. The gnocchi was very soft and pillowy, and it came in an almost pesto-like broth. I'm a huge pesto fan, so I really enjoyed the combination. The sweet corn with oyster mushrooms was also good, but there was a lot of sherry cream. The corn was practically swimming in it, and the mushrooms became so soft that they mostly tasted like the cream. Surprisingly, the sautéed broccolini may have been my favorite dish. It had a smoky grilled char while still keeping the firmness you want from broccolini. Simple, but really well done. We finished with the soft-serve sundae with braised blueberries, coconut graham crumble, and coconut cream. The blueberries were a little sweeter than I normally prefer, but the soft serve was delicious, the crumble added a nice texture, and the coconut cream was a subtle touch. Overall, it was a very good meal. Not every dish was a standout, but the gnocchi, broccolini, and sundae were the clear highlights.

The waitress agreed it was rare and took it back to the kitchen again. When it came out for the third time, it was perfect (third time's a charm, I guess?). The only saving grace was the kind waitress who felt awful about the sub par food. The kitchen put her in an uncomfortable position, but she handled it with grace. We ordered the chocolate torte for dessert and it was very good, but that's the only thing I'd return for.

The service was top notch as well. All of the wait staff were friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and took care of our large group well. I started with the Old Fashioned Flight, with their Aged Old Fashioned, one with Old Forester 1920, and one with Buffalo Trace that they said was their restaurants pick. The first 2 were really good, but I think they gave me the wrong drink, because the one with BT didn't taste like it had any bourbon in it at all. But the waiter switched it out for me with a Tequila OF, which was really good. They brought out two salads for the table, and their Cesar Salad was really good, the dressing was so good. I ordered the Australian Lamb Chops, which were amazing. Simply seasoned, but done so well. I ordered a side of Chimichurri sauce, and it was not needed at all. My wife had the meatloaf, which was delicious, and the group all enjoyed their meals and drinks. We left full and happy. I definitely recommend you add this place to you list if you've never been.

The restaurant is beautiful, cozy, and comfortable, and the hosts and servers have been excellent every time. We made reservations once through OpenTable and once by phone -- both were easy, and reservations are probably a good idea since they stay busy. The food has been great both times. On our first visit, my husband and I shared the ribeye and loved the flavor. Their Caesar salad is also surprisingly unique and delicious with broccolini instead of a traditional Caesar style. I also really appreciated being able to order a single Rockefeller oyster since most places require a half dozen minimum. The second time we visited for an early Mother's Day dinner with my son and shared the off-menu tomahawk, which was excellent as well. The only consistent issue we've had has been steak temperature. We usually order medium, but their interpretation of medium has come out significantly more rare than expected. The first time, we had to send the steak back, and they asked us to identify only the undercooked portions to recook separately, which was a bit awkward and something we hadn't experienced before at a steakhouse. The second time, we tried being more specific and even requested an approximate temperature around 140°, but the steak came out closer to medium-well. That said, the flavors, atmosphere, and service have been so enjoyable that we'll absolutely keep coming back. We're just hoping we can eventually land on the perfect medium steak on a future visit.

I understand as if you aren't seated when they open, you can expect a 90-minute to two-hour wait. I was hoping to get the Chicken Pot Pie this time and thought my prior visit was just off. I was thrilled that most of the menu was available. They were just out of the banana pudding. So I got to try the pecan wings I read about with the white sauce. It was so good. Then I got the chicken pot pie and biscuits. The pot pie had old biscuits for the topping, but the creamy mixture with large chunks of chicken was delicious. My biscuits came with honey and were served warm. I left with a slice of the chocolate-caramel-coconut cake, a side salad without onions, and a fried boneless thigh. The salad was made correctly, and the dressing was included. The salad was full of veggies, and the cake was rich and moist. Service was friendly and as soon as I finished my iced tea, another appeared. My wings were brought out first and it was a while for the rest of the meal as the restaurant was full. But they didn't rush me at all. I actually liked the space between the dishes, as I might not have been able to eat it all otherwise. I couldn't finish both biscuits and was even provided a container for the honey. I am going to miss Beasley's, but I'm glad I got a positive experience to remember the restaurant.

I didn't realize they had a separate breakfast, lunch and dinner menu (I guess they use brunch and breakfast interchangeably) so definitely something to note if you have your eye on a specific dish. We started with the pull apart bread which was reminiscent of the old school cafeteria rolls I had in elementary school (a great comparison) and were delicious - wonderful crunch on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. It came with chive butter, then the host gave us the honey butter. Both were good, I just preferred the chive. I had the roasted turkey French dip which was good, just not memorable. My husband liked his shrimp and grits, said it was rich, but tasty. I absolutely loved the decor and vibe of this place, I would go back for the vibes alone! The staff was really nice too. There's a bakery in the front, I think was closed since it was lunch time, but I would definitely return to Birdies!

If it's a beautiful day, I'd definitely recommend sitting outside instead. Still, the inside has a cozy, laid-back feel that works well. Shoutout to Qua, who was both the hostess and our server. She was welcoming, attentive, and handled everything smoothly, even as a few more parties came in while she was the only one serving at the time. One thing I really appreciated was that she let us know upfront what items were out of stock before we even looked at the menu. That level of transparency is huge and makes the experience so much better. My son ordered a slider with fries from the kids' menu. It comes with just one slider, so I ordered a second, definitely the right call. He enjoyed it, and the fries were cooked well, just a little on the salty side for our taste (ketchup helped balance that out). I had the shrimp tacos. It's packed and perfect portion for lunch. The shrimp, pineapple slaw, and chipotle mayo was a nice mix. The restaurant was clean (including the bathrooms). The location is also a plus, super close to the Art Museum, which makes it a great stop before or after visiting. Overall enjoyable, and I'd come back, especially to try more of the menu and the drinks.
